I don’t know if it’s only me, but when I updated to the latest WordPress version, my portfolio images for each portfolio entry (the image slides) no longer appear. I left a private ticket a few days ago, but haven’t heard back from anyone yet. Is there anyone else who is experiencing this? It’s a big deal, as I am no longer able to show my work to perspective clients.

I know you are good at getting back to me and others. I wanted to know if anyone else was having the issue as well. I visited the link you posted and read some of it. When do you think the new Salient version will be ready? Also, if there is something I need to know about installing the new version (perhaps a step by step guide) and before I do it, to know what basic features I adjusted (no added code, but a plug in), might be reconfigured back to default or if any content created with short codes will be deleted. Do you have a mailing list where we can receive an email notification about holding off on WordPress updates or just in general? What I learned is to not upgrade to the latest version of WordPress until I read what the theme developer and others are saying about the latest version. When do you estimate the new Salient version will be ready? I’m sure it’s very complicated to do what you do, but just asking. Thanks

the new version of Salient has already been released – 1.7.2 went live yesterday

I followed the delete theme and install of the new theme – I see my portfolio image but the gallery for each portfolio doesn’t work – just one image. Any info on how to fix this?
Yeah, as the ticket explains the old way of creating galleries isn’t there anymore and the theme has moved into the proper way of doing it, which is to use the built-in WordPress gallery feature. All you have to do is insert a standard WordPress gallery into your post/project and then select the box for “enable slider” to turn that gallery into the Salient gallery. This is covered in more detail in the ticket and a video is provided at the bottom demonstrating this in action.
I tried to create a gallery but it doesn’t work. How can we make it so that the image click in the portfolio will open up the page with the number of sliders just like before? Your help is appreciated.

But I got another problem now. I can’t tell what it is. I’m running a film production and the main parts of my website are the videos. Well I’m aware of the point that I need to upload both a M4V- and an OGV-file. But everytime I open the site up in my Firefox-Browser the clicked video loads but never starts!
I tried to open up the website with Google’s Chrome. It worked perfectly. But I think it is more important that almost everyone could watch my videos not only Chrome-Users.
Now the strange thing: The HTML-5 video in your Salient-Demo works perfectly in my Firefox-Browser!
What is the problem here? I really don’t get it…
It would be totally emberassing if people can’t watch those videos.
I need your help.

Hey Atilla! This sounds to me like you just need to ad the video types to htaccess file so your server can interpret them. Open up your .htaccess file located in the root of your WordPress install and add this in at the bottom:
AddType video/mp4 mp4
AddType video/mp4 m4v
AddType video/ogg ogv
AddType video/webm webm
AddType video/webm webmv

It looks very cool and if you wanna use it as it is. Then its an okay theme tough i wouldn’t recommend to purchase it – i use hours and hours to just clean out this theme ex. it has 6 images re-sizing functions in the js which screams for bad use of css and low knowledge of JavaScript functions.
and its filled with useless stuff that loads when its not supposed to so don’t download if you wanna customize it only for plane and then i wouldn’t really recommend it
Hope for a future upgrade on the theme

Firstly, let me congratulate you on a fantastic theme. I’m a Wordpress noob and this is my first WP theme and I had taken it for granted that they were all this good (especially with your interface for the shortcode implementation, which is ideal for non techy people), until I bought another highly regarded theme for another site I’m building, its nowhere near as easy to use and customise as Salient.
One question which I hope there’s a CSS fix for … Is there a way to make the size of the text in photo captions a little bit smaller? Currently, its displaying at the same size as the paragraph text and it looks a little too big and clunky.

I usually would not want to release another update so close to the last one, but there was a crucial bug that I had missed in my initial sweep that needed fixing. Because you guys have been good sports about the 3.6 update, I also created another home page layout which is now included in the dummy data file for you all! The update has been submitted to ThemeForest and will most likely be accepted within an hour or two. Until then, feel free to check out the live demo to see the new home layout!
The major bugs that were fixed include:- Home templates for recent posts and recent work/posts causing fatal errors with WP 3.6
- WP 3.6 jetpack gallery conflict when using the “enable slider” option
- WP 3.6 superfish javascript conflict which caused the entire header not to load
- Fixed secondary nav positioning on mobile view
- Fixed vimeo slider problem where it caused fullwidth parallax sections to disappear

Regarding the transparent mod – that would require some custom development at this point. I might eventually add that in as an option, but as of now Salient only offers the header choices seen in the demo under Features > Headers.

This question is about one thing which i try to do in my site. In portfolio categories i create one new called “making of” and create a new page called “making of”, in this page i select in “Portfolio Display Settings” only “making of” and unselect “display sortable”.
My question is, how a make the “making of” categorie not show in the normal portfolio page?
I try select all the categories in “Portfolio Display Settings” and unselect “making of”, but not work.

I found the problem.
I used the dummy data to configure my page and the project in “making of” category also is in the other categories, this is the reason why i try to make this project not show in portfolio page and not work.
Now i unselect other categories in the project or create a new project and select only the “making of” category and now it’s working.

Not really familiar with that error but it’s coming from the WordPress core and not the theme – can you verify that error is specific to the theme? I.e is there there when using a different theme? If so, I’ll need you to open a private support ticket regarding the issue so I can investigate further.

I would suggest checking if a plugin is causing it – try deactivating the ones you’re using and see if it goes away

Looking through the comments and see that WP 3.6 update caused similar issues. I’ve downloaded and installed the 7.1.1 update, but still seeing issues. Mainly my nav will not display, nor will the header image. Are these addressed in the upcoming release?

I’m using your theme because it looks great, but I don’t use it for a blog-like website. In my website, it makes more sense to use a hierarchy of pages and sub-pages, not posts. Is there a way to have all the functionality the theme offers in posts (gallery slider, portfolio-single template, etc), just for pages? In other words, is there a way to make a portfolio of pages?

The specific things that are only currently usable through the portfolio and blog are the social sharing buttons and galleries. All of the other things can be used anywhere on static pages if that’s what you’re looking to do
And can I be able to add a little description below the products in the shop list view instead of just having the name and price of the product? This way the user would not have to click on the product image or name just to see more or full details of the product. Can this be done?

you could accomplish this by modifying the functions.php file in the WooCommerce section. You would have to use the WooCommerce api to get the data you’re looking for and display it in that section.
