I just have one question:
On the portfolio pages: In your demo content “Sticky Sidebar” – how is it possible to get text and multiple images under the portfolio video and on the right the normal sidebar with the portfolios’ details and attributes? Can’t find a solution because the added images always appear on the sidebar.
Could you help me out with this? Thanks!

Salient 2.0 Is Complete!
It’s been a very hard few weeks getting this done, but I am very pleased to finally have it live on the demo! I know a bunch of your were eagerly anticipating this and I don’t think you will be disappointed
The update has been submitted to ThemeForest and should be available for you to download later today. I am going to post a full changelog when I get up but here’s some of the key features:

Something not cool happened. Today morning i woke up excited to edit my website, i suddenly find that all the project categories were deleted. I had 10+ categories. The items in my portfolio belonged to multiple categories(2,3) and now i have to edit 400+ items in my portfolio. I also enabled pagination, just for testing. I didnt like it so i switched it off. I dont know it might be this, but besides the fact it took me a while to add 400 items now I have to edit them. Even if it is just picking the categories, this should not have happened.
And now I went to “edit item”, the categories were still picked on the specific item, so that was not supposed to happen if all categories were deleted. Now i went back to project categories and they all appeared again. Buggy as hell but I’m glad everything is back.

I’m sorry to hear you had troubles but it sounds like a WordPress corrupt database rather than a theme issue. There is a repair tool built into WordPress http://wpmu.org/wordpress-maintenance-101-how-to-optimize-and-repair-database-tables/ see this for more details if you didn’t already sort it

It seems that questions posted here will got a faster reply, I’d like to migrate my several questions (no reply for nearly a week) from the support forum to here.
My OS: Windows 8 64bit
Web browser: Google Chrome
Problem 1: “Portfolio sorting” Web: http://www.cheerhk.org/learning-journals/ The “sort” menu will be hidden by the content area. It seems that it was in the back of the content area. There’s no such a problem in FireFox or IE.
Problem 2: “Parallax background” Web: http://www.cheerhk.org/ I used the same sized background image for two full-width section. One section has content, the other one is empty. I’m trying to make a effect like there is a blur glass moving in front of the background. However, After I changed to a larger screen or smaller screen, these two sections’ background re-sized differently, making the background can’t be joint together. You can see a demo effect in my page, and I’m using a 14’’ display, the effect is perfect. In 17’’ and 21’’ screen, the background in the empty section will become larger which can’t be jointed with the other section. However, they use the background photo in the same size.
Problem 3 “Home slider still move when movie is playing” Web: http://www.cheerhk.org/ To repeat the problem, just click into the website, and play the vimeo video in the first slide. Suppose the slide will stop until the video is finished, however, it still moves to the next slide when the video is still playing.

futureguitar, I have been unable to answer questions because of the 2.0 update – I’m releasing it in the morning so I have been completely swamped trying to make sure it’s perfect. I’ll quickly answer your queries though and if you need further explanation, please have patience while I wrap up 2.0 and can get back to the support forum
1. You can’t use the parallax header if you’re dropdown is going to be larger than the header because Chrome has a z-index issue and prevents it from displaying above. Just disable the parallax option.
2. Think about it. If the images are resizing, than that special point where they met up will change – to do the effect you’re trying to do you would need to set a fixed background size using css to that point so they will always be lined up perfectly.
3. If you wish to have the slider stop rotating when playing your video, you need to use a self hosted video. I can not bind events to external iframe embeds so it will only work when using the WordPress player.

I use JQuery Vertical Mega Menu Widget plugin in my site (the most important addition in my site)
but I found it conflict with your theme navigation menu as no sub-menus appear if the plugin is activated )
after a little research I found that the plugin uses ( nav_menu ) in it’s code which is also in your home.php
the plugin support is not answering any Q’s
is there a way to change the code in the home.php to solve the problem
please ??

I love this theme, but i want change the slider for the layerslider. It’s easy to make this without compromising the operation of the theme?
Hey FelipeMartinin! If you want to use a different premium slider you will have to call the function for it in the theme files where you will it to display (assuming you would like it to be fullwidth)
I’m so exciting waiting for Salient 2.0, kind of like the launch of iPhone 5S. The have a new color GOLD. I’m checking this page everyday now just like they queue up at the apple store.

Google and Apple are going White and Flat design, they remove the black bar on top or bottom, remove some shadow, it is pure white
I suggest you add a pure WHITE color option to this theme in future.
The default font is a little too small, change to a good one so i don’t even need to use google fonts. Thank you.

Hi, in Portfolio options / Items Per page i wrote 12 and after saving these settings i did a permalink save again for update. When i tried to test it in front end and click the 2 or 3 page, or next arrow in pagination i saw a page not found error 404. Why this is happened? Is this something related with W3 Total Cache plugin settings that is also installed, or is some extra settings in salient template options?

If you refreshed your permalinks and it’s still giving you a 404 than it might be a caching issue. Have you tried to empty your cache in W3?
Don’t worry about the delay i understand. Yes i have cleaned the cache from the plugin dashboard and from my browser also. I still have a 404 error. But something new that i watched. When i choose the Greek language it works right. If it helps. If you want to send you a private message with the url to see it live. Tell me to enable pagination again and send you the link after. Hello there, you theme looks pretty excellent, I know you were first so I wonder you guys what do you think of the theme Circles from ThemeSmack ? Is there any plagiarism from them ? I cannot believe how the look, even the inboard menu/settings etc are similar ? What are you thoughts about that ?
Also would like to know what is going to change in the upcoming version 2.0, any features adding ? Thanks

1. Actually that theme isn’t as bad as some others I’ve seen. Some authors on here can take a little too much “inspiration” from others but there’s really not much you can do about it.
2. Salient 2.0 will be by far the biggest update the theme has ever gotten Too many new things to list honestly, but it will be out this weekend most likely so check back in a bit!

1. If you want to do a masonry layout for the portfolio you would need to do a little modding to the portfolio file – just open a ticket on the support forum and I’ll explain more.
2. Salient 2.0 (which is landing in a couple days) will bring a fullwidth slider possibility to the portfolio. No fullscreen option yet but I can assure you that is on the roadmap

Great theme and very easy to use, im having 1 issue though when i add an image to a post as featured image the thumbnail is showing as a resized image and not a cropped image, meaning the thumbnails are all different heights. Do you have a quick fix for this?

The only issue I’m having is when I’m designing for smaller screens. I’m used to newer “mobile-first” frameworks that allow you to specify column-width changes for different breakpoints to help make the designs look more natural on smaller devices. Also, I’m used to the ability to offset and/or hide elements for smaller screens. The newer Foundation and Bootstrap frameworks utilize this functionality.
Are there any plans for that in the future of Salient? It shouldn’t be too too hard to implement, I wouldn’t imagine?
In the meantime, on my current project, I’m having to utilize some unorthodox means to get the code to look like I’d like it – non-semantic code and tons of classes to fix little quirks. I should have just worked to create a Child Theme with mobile-first coding, myself, but I’m pressed for time.
Salient would be the most amazing theme out there if it could utilize a mobile-first shortcode system. It’s something developers are becoming quite fond of, and it’s hard to give up. I don’t know how many themes on ThemeForest currently implement the system – I intend to look, but if Salient had it, I’d likely buy the extended license.

Hey straightedge29! I opted out of using a full blown framework to cut the excess bloat that it brings. I am using a responsive boilerplate however and it does work very well with mobile. It doesn’t have the option for classes to offset and hide on mobile, but they are two things that would simple to add. Check out the file rgs.css inside of the css folder to check it out. I will note to add these things in future release
