Hi! I’m wondering, is it possible to change the background of the blogposts to a picture? And is it possible to have different pictures for each blogpost.

Hey BarbaraIsaksen! You would have to use custom css snippets and set a background image for each one of your blog posts by targeting the specific post ids for each one. Here’s an example:
.postid-124 .container-wrap {
background-image: url('MY-BG-IMG.png');
}
I would like to download the updated version but I’m wondering how would I go through this without re-doing all of the pages??? should I just download the whole folder through FTP to override the old files? or is it going to break the site???
Hey Latif! You should delete your old copy of salient on your sever and upload the new one – all of your content and theme settings will persist through the update

Hey ramiwi! You can add whatever you want to the home page in terms of the shortcodes the theme offers, but Salient is technically not a one page theme and does not offer the same functionality as one. You would need to use additional plugins and possibly do some custom development to get it to behave how you desire.
I have to say it! Love this update! Really thankful for your work.
Only thing I miss is an option to hide the ‘secondary navigation bar’ when you scroll down the page. I think it would be a nice feature, but anyways, Salient 2.0 is amazing.

Hi,
On the portfolio more details page you have Navigational icons on the top of the page that can either take you back to your portfolio (four boxes) or take to the next project (left right arrows)- can you change the design and alignment on these?
Also on the home-basic layout where at the bottom you have three examples of recent work in a carousel, the project title text underneath seems to cut off lower case letters such as y’s, p’s,g’s etc

Relating to 1st query- Because in your video tutorial where you are showing how to make a portfolio page the navigational icons seem to be in a box.

1. You can open the single-portfolio.php template and play the icon classes used for those elements. You have access to font awesome’s entire library to use already or you can make your own icons at http://icomoon.io/app/#browse and hook them into the theme and call them as well.
2. There was a minor bug with height calculations for that carousel in 2.0 – gonna get patched right up in the next 24 hours

I’m really new at wordpress and php code etc is there a video tutorial that you’ve done that shows how to change single-portfolio.php and how to also get the other icons (i.e icomoon & Font Awesome) and apply them in my theme?

Is it possible to minimize the height of the Home Slider? Also how do you remove it if you wanted to use the Nectar Slider instead?
Also having problems on tablet (Samsung tab 2 10.1) viewing my site as it’s not functioning when you try to press links.

1. You can simply unassign the home template from your page attributes box and it won’t display anymore.
2. I’ll have to test on that device, so far it’s only been thoroughly tested on the iPad, iPhone & android devices – i’ll try and get my hands on a windows mobile tablet soon

1. The theme should work perfect on an s3, I’ve tested on that a lot – i’ll check your ticket soon.
2. You have control over the height of the home slider through the home options tab in the theme options panel.

Hi Guys i bought your nice theme some months and i’m still extremly happy with it! There are a few things i don’t get working…
-When i share a portfolio item with facebook i only have the Right Portfolio title. There is no imagine and the text is “Lorem ipsum etc” – i can send you a pic
-i miss a navigator in the shop, to switch between the item. at the moment you have to click on the mainmenu “shop”. would be nice to have a navigator like in the porfolio

Hi, amazing theme! I was wondering if the black-dot effect on the video was also part of the theme when you put a video on the slider? Also, is it possible to create through the theme settings a moving background like the one behind the text “Coded to pixel perfection”? Lastly, is it possible to make the font of the nav menu bigger? 1. The nectar slider has a different loading animation (the circular spinner) However you can simply change the background image to be whatever you want with one line of css.
2. The moving background is actually a video background and yes you can upload your own videos of whatever you want and display them where ever you want using the Nectar Slider.
3. Yes, you can control that in the theme options as well!

I have checked my blog page in safari, firefox and chrome on mac. Apart from safari it looks great, In safari though, the masonry boxes merges. There is no padding between them. I check this in another mac computer too, it looks just like I described. I had a header on my page I don’t know if this affects. Strangely, If I open web inspector (to investigate what is going on) in safari all the sudden page looks just fine. I appreciate if you can have a look at it.

I have a slides Nectar Slider and they work smoothly. when the slider is at the last page, it slides to left pass though all the slides and stops at first slide I have. I wonder is there any way to make it continues in which the last slides would just slides to right to the first one?

In individual portfolio page I got rid of the heading where there were arrows and grid icon. Instead I wanted to have a header image that would be the logo of the product. I used full width section to create it then I use nectar slider shows the product images. However, when I add nectar slider all the sudden a padding occurs between full width section and top menu? I wonder if there is a way to fix this?

2. You would have to do some custom development to get this functionality at this time – I will most likely add this in as a standard feature though in a future update
3. The reason the slider wasn’t coded to scroll “infinitely” aka continue rotating and repeating rather than scrolling back to the beginning, is because of the video background option. When using video backgrounds it would not be possible to accomplish that effect which requires copying the DOM elements and inserting them over and over the more you scroll. This would cause the videos to restart each time.
4. You would have to open up the nectar-slider.js file located inside of the js folder and remove the events that trigger this hover effect. If you need more help doing this please open a ticket on the support forum and i’ll guide you further http://themenectar.ticksy.com/
5. You would need to also open a ticket for this custom mod – it’s not something I can help with quickly on here without checking your site etc.
6. You can’t use the parallax slider option for a non fullwidth slider layout – please change that option to false and it should work

I just changed nectar slider option. I changed the parallax option to false, It did not work, then I recreated it without hitting parallax, still not working. Strangely same code just works fine in another page which is not a portfolio page? Do you want me to open ticket for that?

Google+ does not allow for a count to be retrieved outside of their own button, I already was going to add it in 2.0 but that stopped me. I would have to dumb down my other buttons to not show counts in order to allow Google+ at the moment.
The count is very important. I try many sharing plugin but all of them either ugly or conflict with others. I hope u can add the sharing below LOVE button, only show the count when hover in order to decrease the lagging.
It’s not possible to get the count for Google+ shares, they don’t allow such data to be retrieved outside of their standard sharing button which is ugly as you’ve mentioned. Therefore if you want to make a custom Google+ sharing button you won’t be able to display the count like I have in my other sharing buttons.

Hi ThemeNectar,
In the client slider, the length of the client slider differs when there is only one single strip and when there is two strips as a carousel. Can you please look up on this issue.
Here is a link with an example http://incredibletycoon.tk/client/In the above example you can see that the first client carousel is wider and fits exactly to the content area whereas the second carousel is a little shorter in its length.
Please can you guide me on how to solve this ?
And two more questions 1. Is it possible to reduce the speed of the clients carousel ? If so how ?
2. Is it possible to make only one client image to appear in client carousel when on mobile ? How can I do it ?

Hi just wanted to add some more information regarding the clients carousel. If we add more client strips then the space on the right increases.
For example the space when we have 5 client strips is more than the space when we have 2 client strips.

you really should split your client images into separate images rather than using a strip of so many in one. The carousel is not set up to deal with such little items anyway – you should always use at least 3 items in a carousel for the correct width calculations to take effect.

Slider Is VERY Slow To Load
This theme is very good – modern, visually attractive, easy to use and very versatile. However, the slider on the homepage is very slow. I thought the problem might be my image sizes. I reduced them drastically, so I now have only 3 images each less than 100kb in size, and yet the slider takes too long to load.
I’m working on a fibre broadband connection and have tested this on 3 different machines and a mobile phone and iPad and across the board it takes at least 5 full seconds to load.
Is there anything I can do to speed it up? FYI, the site is http://qropsreview.com/
Hey AccuraCast, I would recommend using the new Nectar Slider over the Home Slider if you’re concerned about load time. It’s faster and more precise with its loading and should yield better results. In all instances of it I get load times around 1 second

You simply need to unassign the home template in your page attributes box for your home page. That’s the only thing placing the home slider there
Hi, AMAZING update! One slight issue – your Recent Projects Fullwidth Carousel is missing arrows to indicate to people that there are more projects to see – different screens display different number of items and it’s easy to assume there only 3 or 4 items on view. Before your regular Project Carousel had arrows which also helped if you are using a trackpad on mac book as it’s not easy to drag the pictures across. Cheers,

There’s still the option to use the non full width one if you prefer – it’s become an option in the shortcode
Maybe the fullwidth one will gain arrow navigation as well, but for now if you need them back simply use the standard one instead of the new one.

Thanks emediacy! The current download from Theme Forest should contain the new dummy data xml file – it’s been imported by many buyers already. Perhaps when you imported it you still had the pages set up from the old one so no data made its way in. You should either rename your current page names or start a new WordPress install for it just so you can have the dummy data in a location in which you can look at and or copy from
