Actually, I seem to be having problems with the parallax effect in all instances that I use it, i.e. as a header on the home slide and as a background image in full-width sections. Any ideas why this could be happening? Thanks

After checking the demo as you suggested, I thought I would try another browser. I have the problem with the parallax effect in Chrome and Safari, but not IE. Your demo site works fine in all three browsers. Thanks
Okay that’s pretty strange – since you can’t share a URL i guess the best thing to do would be to open a ticket on the support forum and share a quick screencast of the problem.

Hey, great looking theme! Just one general question regards Parallax, and another more specific related question. 1) Is it possible to create a Parallax page with multiple parallax sections, something like this for example? http://demo.rocknrolladesigns.com/wp/jarvis/callouts/ 2) Also, from the same example above, you’ll notice the landing page parallax background of the city skyline has a fullwidth text slider over the top. You’ll notice the text slider has a semi-transparent b/g. Is it possible to create something very similar with Salient? If not, would it be straightforward to add a simple slider (me install a separate plugin)that would achieve this? Many thanks!

1. Yes, you can place multiple parallax sections on one page – see this for an example: http://themenectar.com/demo/salient/home-ultra-extended/
2. You can see on the third slide on this item: http://themenectar.com/demo/salient/portfolio/994/ there’s a transparent background behind the text. You however only have to option to make that bg appear behind the caption as shown, making it extend full width would require some custom css.

Hey, just a follow up on above re 2) Semi-transparent-bg-behind-text on a fullwidth-parallax-slider (at the risk of being long-winded, I’m not actually hoping for a slider for the fullscreen background, rather an image for the fullscreen bg. I’m after a fullwidth bg for the semi-transparent text slider over the top of a static fullscreen bg. See example above.). Anyway, no doubt there’s more than one way to tackle this, but – here’s my question. 1) You mentioned some custom css could help make the semi-transparent-bg-behind-text extend to the fullwidth of the screen/slide. I’m not a css novice (or may just use a front end specialist if required!) – I’m just curious how difficult that change might be to implement…? Got there in the end, I need a drink! Many thanks.
It would be moderately challenging – if you don’t already have an idea in your head of how to do it than the odds are you might need a helping hand. Luckily it’s not that complex of a mod so if you use a front end specialist like you mentioned it wouldn’t take too long!

1. I will as soon I can – but with the amount of changes made in 2.0, it’s going to be quite a long process to manually update. I’ve been pushing users to modify through child themes more nowadays to avoid the headache.
2. What bug? Are you talking about the fact that you can’t place the same shortcode inside itself? e.g.

If so, it turns out the WordPress shortcode parser is not capable of handling that:

I am not sure how to use a child theme, as I took out all the wocommerce code, also the slider code, as I am using my own slider, and minimise all the css. I have been reading about it but I need a little bit of advice here..
Basically you’ll create the child theme folder and include all your modified files in there so they will overwrite the parent theme files. When loading custom scripts or stylesheets you’ll also need to dequeue the parent themes ones so you don’t end up with two copies. Can you help me with the Nectar Slider? Is there an ideal dimension for the video, or a setting that needs to be configured somewhere? We are getting the same cropped video in the slider no matter what we try. Acts as if it is boxed, almost.

The videos used throughout the demo are in full HD resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The height for the slider is up to you, but keeping it around 700px or taller will yield good results. Can you share your URL so I can see what you’re talking about better?

I was wondering how you added the “If you like this project, please take a second to share with the world so weather app can grow!” (and the icons located above the text to share). When I make a portfolio item full width, the share to social icons disappear. I was also wondering if there was a way to put the icons to share on normal pages.

The social icons can now actually be placed through a shortcode – just open up your generator and you will see the option for them that was added in 2.0.

Hi there, Thanks again for another update! I am just moving in to the full width video nectar slider and loving it.
Could you possibly have a quick look at my homepage and tell me why I’m getting that big blank section in between the nectar slider and my next parallax background (when scrolling down)? Is it a padding/Chrome thing? www.tentaclefilms.com
It was happening before I put that big video there….
Also, is there anything that can be done about the ‘shunting’ of the header menu when clicking through pages? I notice it on the theme demo as well as my site, but I think this could be a Chrome-only issue. (ie. it shunts to the right and back as you change pages)
Call to Action – Is there a reason why the Call To Action letter spacing is -1px? I ask just incase it was an oversight and there are other web-challenged folks wracking their brains about it.
And finally- do I need to worry that the nectar slider video doesn’t load in Safari? Maybe no one uses it any more.

1. You can’t place another parallax section that close to a parallaxed nectar slider – you will have to either unparallax one of the two or move your parallax fullwidth section down the page to the point when the user reaches it, the nectar slider is completely out of view. And yes, this is a webkit only bug.
2. The ‘shunting’ is coming from the styled scrollbar loading in. If that bothers you – disable the feature in your theme options panel.
3. Different headings throughout the theme have different letter spacing – it doesn’t have to be that way and you’re free to change it if you’d prefer a different look!
4. The nectar slider should load in every browser (check the live demo) – if it’s not in safari one of your videos could be encoded wrong, assuming you’ve provided the correct file types to begin with. Open a ticket regarding this particular issue so I can take a further look for you

The theme is conflict with contact form 7 that you suggest. I can’t shorten the text field size with your theme, when i change to another theme it is working fine. eg. [text* your-name 20/40] .. Can you pls check it
The contact form 7 also is very heavy and SLOW down my site.

1. Salient treats all inputs in a responsive manner and will fill them 100% width of the div they are in. You can’t set a fixed width like that because it wouldn’t hold a proper layout in mobile views. The max length property does indeed work so you can use that freely, but the correct way to set a width for an input with Salient would be to simply wrap them in a column.<div class="col span_4">[text* your-name /20]</div>
2. Contact form 7 is not “very heavy” like you claim and like I’ve mentioned to you before, it’s one of the lighter & simple contact plugins. Have you looked at what it actually loads on your site? There’s nothing extra that you wouldn’t add yourself if you created a basic ajax contact form. I’d be interested to see any data showing your site slowing down from using it. However if you want to use another one you’re free to do so. All the inputs will still be styled the same way regardless, but unfortunately I don’t have another to recommend. I’ve always used CF7 and it works great.

2- what is the file size suggested to the video in MB and in heigh and width ?

1. You only really need to provide webm & mp4 – Here’s a webm converter: http://video.online-convert.com/convert-to-webm and here’s an mp4 one: http://video.online-convert.com/convert-to-mp4 2. You can keep that size and I would aim to compress down under 30mb.

It will be used for Firefox, but Firefox also understands webM so it’s not needed – the option is just there for full control if you want it for whatever reason.

Hey lifelover! Those icons are in the font awesome font file. You would have to edit the svg and recreate the font file using http://icomoon.io/
All the fonts are located inside of the css/fonts folder.

About Woocommerce. I add some items in your cart and also another theme flatsome. The flatsome theme still got the items inside the cart after about 3 days, but yours is remove completely. It is add at the same day same time. Somehow your theme clear the items early than flatsome. Can you tell me whether you change the storing period or why this happen.
Sai2, the cart in Salient is using the information stored by WooCommerce itself to populate it – it’s not my own system. If the cookies are still set in your browser by WooCommerce the cart will persist, I still have products in my cart from over a week ago. I can’t say why you’re cookies were cleared for my site after 3 days, but it’s nothing to do with Salient.
