that is located in the .po for for translation so just use a translation plugin to alter it – or if you would rather edit the actual files, you’re going to need to open up all the files in the includes/post-templates directory and do a search + replace for “Read More”.

there’s no PSD’s available because there’s hardly any images used in the theme now. It’s all css + icon files. So simply taking a screenshot and importing it into Photoshop would be almost as useful for mockup purposes.

Whoops, it appears there’s a typo that is stopping the mediaelement fallback from loading in outdated WordPress versions. I’ll take care of that for the next release, so for now please update your WordPress to have access to the built-in video player which the nectar slider relies on.

Somehow your functions.php doesn’t match the one available for download – maybe it’s cached or being overwritten by a child theme? Doesn’t really matter for you now since updating to 3.6 also fixes the problem i’m just pointing it out

I purchased Salient for a corporate website – I personally find this to be the best theme ever made, so hats off to you folks.
I am considering another regular license to use for a magazine website. How hard would it be to restructure the blog section of things? Adding formats to posts (video vs. gallery), adding a review system, review plugins, author pages, etc.
Just wanted to know if you folks are planning on releasing anything in the future that would make the theme good for magazine/editorial websites? I don’t mind going through the lengthy process of fiddling with the theme, but I feel I may ruin certain components of the theme.

There may be updates targeted at this, but for now I have a few other things I have to focus on first. As you already know, you’ll need to use plugins for some of the functionality you’re seeking – but as long as you know what you’re doing, you shouldn’t run into any big problems. Just the need for styling and implementation of the plugin functions in certain areas of the theme files

In the blog section – if I use masonry layout, will square jpgs as the picture (say instagram 612×612) will it remain that proportion format size – or will it crop it a wide format 612×500.
I’d prefer it remain the same proportion size, just reduced to 250×250.

There is no hard cropping in the blog section for featured images so your uploads will retain their proportions, just resize down

1. I actually didn’t change the speed of it – it’s always been the same since day one..maybe your browser was just lagging a bit the other day?
2. If you want to alter the speed – open up the init.js file located in the js folder, run a search for “niceScrollInit” to end up at the relevant section and you’ll see the entire configuration object to alter to your taste
The values for “scrollspeed” & “mousescrollstep” will be the main ones to effect what you’re after.

1. You can either use the regular gallery feature by inserting a standard WordPress gallery into your page and checking the box for “Gallery Slider” in the Project Configuration box or you can simply place a nectar slider shortcode in your editor and use that.
2. You can just paste your embed code where you please in the text tab on your editor and it will display.

Appreciate the quick response. I’ve created the gallery, I have option selected in the config section, but on the front end it’s blank. The gallery shows up as a table of thumbnails when the option for “Gallery Slider” is not clicked. But I’d like to use the slider functionality. Please advise.
theneff, I’ll test this soon – there might be a conflict with the full width portfolio layout and that slider from you’re describing but the nectar slider definitely won’t have any issues so I would suggest using that for the time being.

Hey dzineee, I don’t think a theme is capable of doing that. Also have not heard reports of such an error – it sounds server related.

As a solution they recommend to deactive all plugins (already done this) and on the next step disable your theme (go back to original).
So I guess it might be the theme yes.. Still having major connection issues. Will contact my host and see what they can do.
If a theme or plugin is poorly coded it’s possible, but I’m just saying in a normal circumstance when you buy a theme on ThemeForest it shouldn’t have major issues like that.

Hey, not sure if I didn’t find the accompanying option, but the Project Style second option only works on portfolio pages, not the main page.
Also, when using the default with the 2 things (i.e., watch video / more details), is there a way to change what it says on a case-by-case basis? for example, some times it is a vimeo link, so it makes sense, but sometimes I have a sound cloud embed and it works fine, but still says “watch video” which is misleading.

1. The portfolio carousel will get its style based on your choice for full width with it. I’m going to make both options available for full and standard width, but for now the full width carousel will be the alt style and the standard carousel will show the regular style.
2. There would be no way to alter that on a per project basis without custom development because the video embed box was only meant for videos so that functionality is not present. You could modify the text for all projects though – it’s located in the page-portfolio.php file.

Noticed in 2.1.5 = block quote used to have a little quote icon with it, did it not? seems to have disappeared now, just the text gets bigger.

1. The block quote style did indeed change at version 2.0 to match the testimonial slide style – I felt it was time to streamline the styles so it made sense.
2. Yes, this is a known bug that will be taken care of for the next release.

1. When generating the recent projects shortcode there is now an option for project style, so you can use either the default or alternative style in full width or standard with now.
2. The bug turned out to only be half fixed it still ended up failing in some cases where varying project heights exist. The was reexamined and a new solution was created which will be in the next release but if you need a fix early, just open a ticket in regards and i’ll tell you what to change

I’m using the template “Home – Recent Work/Posts” as my main page, not a shortcode. do i need to do something else to get it appearing that way?
Yes, the Home recent work/posts will automatically use set styles since it’s kind of “quick start” layout if you may.
Just assign the slider only layout instead and then use the shortcodes inside of the shortcode generator to place shortcodes for the recent work/posts. When you’re configuring them you’ll see options for all you need

Hey Ramon6! As of 2.1 you actually have the option to turn the carousel labels off when generating the shortcode.

Hey! Great portfolio and video tutorials. I’m taking some early steps into php (or may just kick for touch and hire a developer on this!). Anyway here’s my question regarding Custom Post Types – 1) how implementable are they with this theme? To clarify with an example: 2) Could I create a custom post type and set it to display as a Salient ‘Portfolio’ – and have multiple custom post types do the sane thing? I could then have categories within each these custom post types to organize the content of each. Alternatively (sorry this is getting long!), 3) Is there a shortcode available that might work with custom post types and allow for similar results / functionality on the front? I guess I’m after a suggestion on how you’d implement a change such as these this theme! Many thanks.

You wouldn’t need to make another post type to interact with the portfolio one already in place, you might just need to extend the one already there if you need additional functionality – but from your brief description it already sounds like Salient accomplish this out of the box. You can already have multiple portfolios on different pages all displaying a dropdown of their own categories to sort by. There’s a box that appears under the page attributes box when editing/creating your portfolio page that allows you to assign categories to display. Therefore you can make as many portfolio pages as you need all showing unique categories chosen by you.

Hello there. For the current portfolio page, I could choose either “View Larger” or “More Details” at the Portfolio Index page. If we click “More Details”, we could move to the next page. In that page, I would like to add “View Larger” for the image. Is that possible?

Hey vitaonwax! You can create a lightbox link anywhere you like by adding the class “pp” to it. Here’s an example that you would use in the text tab on your editor:
<a class="pp" href="LARGER_IMG_SRC"><img src="IMG_SRC" /></a>
Also, the lightbox image will display as large as your users browser window will support, resizing to smaller when applicable.

Hi Nectar, It’s Thura again. Sorry, I just would like to ask you a question as I am facing a prob and been trying to sort but I couldn’t figure out. On the home page of the site, http://cloudtexo.com , there is a Mail Chimp sign up form within one of the content boxes which doesn’t work for some reason. The code is embedded from Mail Chimp directly. the other form on the footer does work. It is also from Mail Chimp (different List). I can’t think why it doesn’t work. Could it be someting to do with conent bit? Because the footer one works. Any suggession Nectar, please?

I think I found the reason, When I took off the sign up form from the footer and tested the other form (the one from the content box), it worked. So, could it be because there are two sign up (subscribe) from in the same website?
I also would like to ask one more question in the same time if that’s okay. I have an article page here, http://cloudtexo.com/articles/ . it’s just a normal page. the articles are linked to the other websites. When there are so many news on the page, is there any way to have buttons (Numbers, Next and Previous) at the end of the page? Something like the one on this page, http://www.cio.com/attributes/index/146300/600007/1 . I don’t mind to do manually.

Pagination is handled automatically if these are posts within a post type. How are those article links getting populated? Are they coming from a post type in the backend or are you just writing it all out on the page? If you want pagination it would best to create a post type or just use the blog (I have support in for the link post format) – that way you can control the pagination easy.

Hi Nectar, no, these are not posts, just written on a page. Because Articles are not to be seen in blog section. As far as I understand, all the post will be seen on blog page, won’t they? so I just make it a basic way. Of course, I want Pagination to change the Article pages.

You can indeed use the blog and just assign all of these links to a specific category which you can link to directly. You’ll get pagination this way as well
