The icons within the icon shortcode are generated through a font file (fontawesome) and modifying that or adding your own would require some custom coding – but if you just use images as I’ve done in various sections on the demo, there’s no extra customization required. Just use the image with animation shortcode for a nice effect

1. It’s not officially 100% supported yet, but the basics have been covered and I intend on doing a sweep with it soon to fix any bugs I find.

Question two test machines of ours are running IE8 and the site is not working properly on either. Can you confirm that this theme is IE8 compatible?

As a matter of fact, the last update dedicated an entire day to polishing IE8 even further and at its current state I’d say it performs very well considering how far behind IE8 is. Are you on v2.5.1 and have you also checked the live demo in IE8?

you’d most likely need to reupload them since most themes have a different structure for the portfolio post type and the odds of all the fields matching up is pretty slim.

The height of the logo you uploaded for non retina displays is 30px and you’ve set your logo height to display at 40px so it’s getting stretched and loosing quality. Either set your logo height to match the height of your logo or upload the logo at 40px

Hi Guys, I upload Webm and mp4 files both Full HD for a nectar slider full width in Home, it works perfect but in mobile it dont work at all. I tried uploading ogv and look to other links and didnt find a solution. Following the tutorials the unique solution is place a button and a video in a public plataform.
Is it possible to autoplay videos in mobile devices on a slider? Like it work on browsers. If yes, whats the trick.

It is not possible to autoplay videos on mobile devices. All mobile devices prevent this so that users don’t run up their data usage without consenting. I discuss this in the Nectar Slider tutorial at 6:38 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLU9Pxo_RD8

When I try to change my header from fixed to relevant it totally gets messed up on Firefox. The fire fox is a bit older but what would snippet would you recommend to keep the header at the top.

Sorry.. I have another question. Apologies for the bombardment. There appears to be a bug with background images in the nectar slider. The first slide is ok, any slides after get a little wonky when the browser is resized. A good example of this is in the demo – http://themenectar.com/demo/salient/portfolio/neat-desk/ If you click through to the second slide and resize the browser, you’ll see the madness. This isn’t a deal breaker, of course, but curious if there was an easy fix. I noticed this does not happen on the homepage slider.
<update> When I set a nectar slider as loop=”true”, all all is well. The problem is cured in all browsers. Very strange. And a AOK fix for me. So you can disregard this issue.

yes, this is a known minor bug with the slider when loop is set to false – it will be fixed in the next release

Hey there! I love the “parent portfolio override” feature for the “back to all” links. Is there a way to also override the parent portfolio for the “back” and “next” buttons on an individual portfolio item? Thanks so much! This product is so wildly robust and customizable, it’s brilliant.
And maybe if it’s not too much trouble to explain.. a way to change the “portfolio” permalink base name to something else. Thanks again!

1. It’s harder to allow an override for that because it’s a native WP features where as the “back to all” button is specific to Salient so I have full control over it. I’ll take a look into this more though..
2. You can change that right inside of your Portfolio Options tab in the theme options panel After doing so, make sure to resave your permalinks in Settings > Permalinks.

you just need to create a page and either assign the portfolio layout in your page attributes box on the right hand side, or use just drop a portfolio shortcode (available in v2.5+) into the editor via the shortcode generator.

I have an issue with the menu themes. It seems to have multiple titles of home, about, blog, etc in the menu structure. How to I just delete this and start fresh so there is just one of each of the menu titles. Not sure what I have done wrong to get this.
Hey chachaty, your menu is managed inside of the Appearance > Menus tab in your admin panel. If you don’t see the duplicate items there to remove, please open a ticket in regards.

What you see on the demo, the love button which keeps a count of how many many users have clicked it, is all that you can place by default (there’s a shortcode for it too). There’s no rating functionality – if you needed that you would need to either do some custom coding or seek a plugin to assist with it.

You would need to contact a developer if you are not comfortable with the mod yourself – it’s a bit beyond the scope of support.

Hey, I am having problems with the Nectar Shortcode generator. I was wondering if anyone else had problems? I filled out a ticket on your system, but was just curious if others had this issue. Theme is great side from this problem…
Hey, thanks for opening a ticket! I’ll get back to you soon regarding it.
The only way the shortcode generator could have issues is if you have a plugin conflict or server problem, which has only ever effected a handful of users out of all who are using it.

I think it may have to do with 3.7.1. Have you done any testing with it? It clearly worked on a 3.5.X version of WP. Please let me know, thank you!
Okay, so I had to downgrade all the way to 3.5.1, as 3.6.1 did not work (didn’t try anything in between). My host also does not allow for old installs of WP and so I used a trick by going into the wp-includes/version.php file and manually changing the version to current. Please let me know if anyone else has had problems with the latest version of WP…
Hey ematzner, there’s no known problem with 3.7x and the shortcode generator. Most users have upgraded by now too with no such reported issues.

1. That would require custom development.
2. Add this to your custom css box:
.portfolio-items .work-meta {
display: none!important;
}
3. That would take custom css for the Home Slider, but the Nectar Slider actually allows you to do that as a default option. So if you need to have that, I would suggest switching sliders.

I wanted to change the color of my header links (active, hover, and default) but didn’t want to go through the ‘Color Accent’ panel. What are the CSS selectors for the header menu links to override what’s currently provided?

you already have a color picker for that in your header options tab in the theme options tab. Just select “custom” in the header color scheme dropdown to reveal the additional color options.
