Hi there
I resized main column to 800px width. Therefore, I prepared 800px wide images which are really sharp when viewed on the desktop. Once applied to a nectar slider, they loose quality, seems like resolution is lower. I tried uploading bigger versions but the quality does not improve. What am I missing?

also, I have got problems on my ipad, the slider box is shorter than the size set on a desktop and therefore it crops the images

I’m not sure if anyone else has asked this but the only thing stopping me from purchasing this theme is:
If your portfolio section supports multiple images.
For example, if I head over to your demo and opened up a portfolio item, say “The Moose” it opens up to the item and displays the one single picture of the portfolio item.
I’m basically asking if I’m able to upload more pictures and then have it display like some sort of slideshow or gallery instead of one single picture? I have a projects that require multiple pictures to be displayed for one project.

Yes, you can have actually as much content as you like in your single project pages. I’ll give you some examples here:

I do have one very small issue…I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the sidebar for the Shop portion to appear! I have already setup the widgets under the woocommerce sidebar and tried changing the page template for the shop but no luck…

Hi! Just wanted to say fantastic job on the theme, really hoping I can maximise the use of it. Just a quick question:
I’m looking to keep the “Project Attributes” sidebar when I post a full-width portfolio entry that has a nectar slider element on top, and a description underneath that element. I noticed that when you enable the full-width option you lose those project attributes and I’d really love to keep it. Any advice for me? Is there an element to bring those back, or a way to keep it?
In terms of feedback so far, the only way I know how to create a full-width portfolio entry (as shown in the Salient live demo) is by creating a Nectar Slider element using the shortcodes. It took me a LONG while to figure this out, so what would be amazing if in future updates we can somehow create a gallery of super high-res images, then quickly select an option to turn it into a nectar slider carousel. I’m not sure if that’s easy to do, but it’d mean that we can manage galleries right inside the portfolio entry. Maybe what I said isn’t the right solution, but I’m hoping there might be a more intuitive way of creating a gallery that is ultimately a nectar slider gallery. I don’t know, just a thought.

1. You can just create a normal bullet point list of items in your editor and then switch to the text tab and add the class “project-attrs” and “checks” to it like this:
<ul class="project-attrs checks"> </ul>then just add this to your custom css box and you’ll have the same look

2. Yes, you can only have a full width gallery with the Nectar Slider and I agree your suggestion is pretty good! I will totally note it down and look into the best way of allowing it

Amazing! Many thanks for your help. It’d be nice in future to see a “Project Attributes” shortcode that allows us to add it in after full-width elements, and then that way we could use take advantage of the checkbox system that’s included rather than typing each discipline out. Honestly though, this will definitely do the job for now.

Is there a way to change the resize of the header on scrolling? I’d like to make it much smaller (ie, remove any padding top/bottom of header only on scroll).
I’d still like to have the logo big with 30px padding which I enter in the theme options when you first load, but I’d like the padding to be 0px when you go to scroll. Can’t seem to change it by CSS? ...

In the next update i’ll be adding a css class onto the header when it shrinks to allow easier customizations by allowing you to target that state. For now this would require a javascript mod in the init.js file (located in the js folder). If you open that up and run a search for “smallNav” and “bigNav” you’ll end up at the two functions where the calculations take place for this. Feel free to remove the logic in the smallNav function and replace the values to ‘0’.

Very quick question… I used the ‘blog’ nectar shortcode at the bottom of my homepage and enabled pagination. However, clicking on pages 2,3,4,etc simply refreshes the homepage and doesn’t lead to the desired pages.

Hey Adrian! The links for the pagination are actually leading to the relevant pages, but something on your setup is redirecting them to the home page. For example if you try to go to this destination: http://handcarryonly.com/page/2/ you’ll see the /page/2 get stripped from the URL. Do you have any plugins or htaccess mods that could effect this?

I switched to up-sells and I get all of them now. Only difference is up-sells show up on the product page, cross-sells show up in the cart. Thanks!

That’s actually a box shadow and it has a top offset which is why it appears more prominent on the bottom. If you want to alter that use this in your custom css box:
.col.boxed {
box-shadow: 0px 0px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.2)!important;
}

That word is in the .po file for you to translate but if you want to change it in the code directly it’s in the functions.php file – just run a search for:

Is there a way I can remove the home slider from the home page? When I click on the home slider “add new” slide I don’t have the option to add a video as a background. So I’m using nectar slider and adding a slide with the video background, but I want that to be the slider on my home page.

Is there or will there ever been an update to the theme, where the backend is a lot more user-friendly to add, remove, drag, drop, etc. blocks of content such as on the homepage – RATHER – than the code snippets? That would be great and very helpful. – I’d even be willing to pay little extra for that update. It would save me a lot of time.

There is no page builder now, just the visual shortcode generator – while I won’t get into the debate on shortcodes vs page builders – I will say adding a page builder is definitely on the wishlist for people who prefer that workflow. Unfortunately I can’t give an ETA on it at this time though.

Hi Nectar! I have recently updated to last theme version and it was ok. But now i have some little issues that I don’t know how to fix.
In portafolio and blog pages, i can’t see the lovely heart icon as I saw before, instead I only see “[]”. It also happens in arrows that change to the following item in the gallery.
Please help me to put the hearts again

This took me a little bit to track since everything seemed okay with your setup code wise, but have found the error to actually be a separate stylesheet getting loaded that is overwriting salients. The location is: themes-ai1ec/vortex/style.css – it might be a plugin or a custom stylesheet, but if you can remove that the problem should resolve

1. Gravity forms will have a similar style to the form shown on the contact page
2. I haven;’t tested with that plugin, but it also should inherit Salient’s generic form styling.
3. There is not due to the fact a good deal of mobile devices still glitch when using the property of fixed. You could change it to do so with css but it’s not recommended.
4. The default lightbox is styled how you see in the portfolio when clicking view larger
