Can you change the homepage slider from a parallax slider to a normal one? That would be my only criticism.

I have been having issues getting my maps to show up on mobile devices like android, iphone etc. Any suggestions? I have also been getting advertisements that I did not allow, any idea how to get rid of these they have been driving me crazy. I never noticed them because I have an adblock but at my friends house on internet explorer it is riddled with advertisements.

1. It appears you’re using a map plugin or embed different than the default Salient one – if you want it to be responsive, try placing it inside of a Salient column shortcode.
2. I see no ads on your site in any browser – my guess is that your friend’s IE was infected all together, but if you check another computer or disable your adblock I doubt you’ll see anything

Basically, I followed the instructions, converted my mp4 video into a WebM file type then uploaded them both into the appropriate area. The issue is that the videos dont loop at all. They simply play once and hold the last frame image, once it runs through.

First, this theme is a masterpiece and my work has never been displayed so beautifully. The customization and options are amazing.
A minor problem. I turned on portfolio pagination, but after I turned it off again, it would not actually turn off on my site. I’ve tried turning it off and on, waiting, logging in and out, but pagination won’t turn off. My work-around has been to set the “portfolio items per page” to a very high number so that pagination doesn’t enact, but that’s not a permanent fix.
Here’s an example (with pagination set to 300 items): http://www.wildernessshots.com/colorado-landscape-photography/I would actually prefer to use pagination because I have nearly 300 portfolio items that need to be on a single page, but when you sort the categories with pagination on, it only shows the items on the current paginated page, instead of each item in that category across the entire master page.

2. This is the default functionality actually – only items on the current page will be sorted as it would take a whole different kind of system to pull in items from other pages when filtering.

2. if you’re trying to opt for a vimeo embed, you simply need to paste the iframe embed code into the text tab on your editor.

What were you looking to edit about it? You have control over whether or not it displays by selecting the option for “Enable Sortable” in the shortcode generator and the categories displayed in it will be populated based on what categories you chose to display in your portfolio. If you need to edit the wording “Sort Portfolio” you can do that in the portfolio options tab of the Salient options panel

I have noticed what seems to be a bug relating to the Quote post type. While the author or attribution from the title field shows up, the body does not. I looked at the I have switched themes to see if I can get the body to show up and it does indeed show up.

Different themes will display post formats differently, but if you want to make use of the main content editor in the quote format – open up the entry-quote.php file inside of the includes/post-templates directory and add this in where you would like it to display:

I was wondering if the Nectar shortcode for icons could be used in the footer widgets (phone icon next to phone number for instance). When I paste the shortcode in a widget, it shows up as the literal code. Placing it within <code /></code> didn't help either. If this is not possible, can you tell me where I can find the icon images so I can insert them with the <img /> tag? Thanks so much!

Home Slider/Home Page stopped working correctly w/ WP 3.8
When I updated to 3.8 the content for my home page and the home slider will not show at the same time. How do I add content below the home slider? It was working fine before.

Hello, great theme but i need Your help.
I have a problem with video thumnail in portfolio (video is embedded from youtube).
When i try to press button „Watch video” im getting only this:
Forbidden You don’t have permission to access /wp-content/themes/salient/includes/portfolio-functions/video.php on this server. Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”
Pressing button „More info” works just fine, it takes me to the site with video, i dont have any problem with shortcodes either.
I have already change wp-content/themes/salient/includes/portfolio-functions/video.php permission to 755.

If there’s an internal server error getting thrown your best bet would be to check the server logs to see what the error is – if you don’t know where to check for that your hosting company should be able to assist. Let me know if you find out the error so I can help shed more light

I have recently purchased the Salient theme and I have a question concerning the portfolios:
I have made two portfolio pages with different items on each one however, when viewing items from one portfolio and using the right arrow browsing tool I am sometimes redirected to an item from the other portfolio.
How can I create two entirely separate portfolios? Portfolios which are two separate entities and can be browsed separately.

Hey Timur,
it’s not really possible to keep the next/prev arrows within the same “set” they will only try to stay within the same category the current project is in, but the real way to do what you’re looking for would be with AJAX – which might be coming in a future release. If you don’t want to use the arrows now because of this behavior you can hide them by entering this in your custom css box in the Salient options panel:
#portfolio-nav ul.controls { display: none!important; }

I also can’t get the widgets in the footer to work. I’m using Wordpress 3.8. When I go to appearance -> widgets and try to drag a widget into the sidebar, none of the widgets will move at all. They just stay there. Maybe this is an issue with WP 3.8?
Hey charleswu7, the other user regarding this had made a simple mistake of turning off the main footer area in his options panel – what you’re describing sounds like a script error which could be caused by a plugin. There’s no known issues with 3.8 and Salient so I would start by deactivating your plugins and if that doesn’t work – please allow me to login so I can check on it for you

1. How can I remove the Sort bar between the header and the portfolio tiles? I don’t think I need it.

You can find all the styles pertaining to that in the main stylesheet (style.css) by searching for the rule ”#portfolio-filters-inline”
If you need to edit any structure of that section the location of what to edit will vary based on whether you’re using the portfolio shortcode vs. page layout to create your portfolio. If you’re using the portfolio shortcode, check out the file shortcode-processing.php located in the nectar/tinymce directory. If you’re using the page layout see the template-portfolio.php file located in the root of the theme folder.

1. I figured out how to remove the filter bar. I wanted to make it flush with the header, but there is a gap now. I was able to adjust this, but it affects the blog. I’m not sure how to only edit the portfolio screen. Maybe I should just use the Portfolio version of the home screen? Will that show all work?
2. I was able to edit the Project page navigation items to be where I want them. But, I’m not totally able to left-align the Project Title. It has a margin still. I was able to sort these issues out.
1. If I don’t hide the filter bar, I can move it up under the header with this code – #portfolio-filters-inline { margin-top: -135px!important; } It’s odd, because that code doesn’t work if I turn off the filter bar with – #portfolio-filters-inline {display: none!important;} This solution is probably is a hack.
2. I just changed the text to not be h1 in the single-portfolio.php document. It doesn’t shrink for mobile, but it looks ok.

I have a couple questions related to the portfolio screen. The first one is a ticket on Ticksy.
1. This, I would really like to know: how can I make the Portfolio Alternative screen have borders around the tiles. I’d like a perfect 20px border around the tiles without project titles being under the tile. Is this possible? ork.
2. This isn’t as important, but when rollover the project tile in the portfolio, rather than the overlay with the plus, can we have an image swap. Such as, a color image replaces a black & white image?
3. Lastly, how can you get rid of the plus on the lower left of the rollover of the portfolio tile?
