I just started using the WP Bakery Visual Composer plug-in and am perplexed as to why my edits aren’t being made and shown on my live pages.
1. On my Home page layout, I added in a page subheading, but don’t see it on my live page.
2. I’ve added in a background color to my sidebar, but don’t see it when I refresh my page.
3. Same thing with trying to make edits to my footer.
4. I uploaded a photo to embed in my home page text, but can’t grab it and position it. I thought the composer was a drag-and-drop type of plug-in.
5. Lastly, in the User Guide, under Using the Visual Composer, I see a Spacing box on your screen grab. I don’t see this available. How come? Also, I cannot select my copy to edit. My curser just attempts to move the entire copy block.
What am I doing wrong with all of this? Sorry, I’m a newbie. Thanks…
Sorry for the delay, I’ve been sick ;(
This is all very strange, do you think you can send me your site logins and URl (via my contact form on my profile page) so I can log in and make sure it’s all working correctly?
The Visual Composer is drag and drop!
http://vimeo.com/64482230Also please make sure you have the Visual Composer Extension plugin (which is included and recommend) enabled, this adds the other modules such as the spacing module. If you are missing any modules it’s most likely because this plugin isn’t active.
I hope you are feeling better. I do have the visual composer plug-in installed and activated. I want to send you my site log-ins and URL, but i don’t know how to access your profile page. You didn’t say. Please clarify and I really look forward to your help!
I just mean my Themeforest profile, which you can access by clicking on my name/avatar – http://themeforest.net/user/WPExplorer
hi. quick question. i need an faq page with toggles (all can be open). in the shortcode menu i found only accordions. when i insert the accordions, only the clicked one is open. where can i find the option “toggle with all open”?
thanks for help! wistlaumann
Sorry for the delay!
You’ll actually want to use the “FAQ” module. And when you go to insert it one of the options is “Default state” so you can select open if you want it open by default.
I would suggest though if you are creating a layout like that, why not just use h2 headings and paragraphs? I don’t see the need for the toggles if you’ll want them open by default.
Sorry I don’t understand what you are trying to do ;(
I have send mail through your portfolio with query & log in details
Ok, thanks. I’ll get to it as soon as I can, we have a lot of tickets in the queue. Thank you for your patience.
I used the theme two times: once on a non-indexed, password protected site (just to play around with it) and then another time for my “real” website (different webhoster). While I haven’t had any problem the first time, the second time the Google Web Fonts don’t show up on the “theme options panel”. I can pick the Standard Fonts, but not the Google Web Fonts. Right now, I did a workaround and put the code snippet in the <head>, but of course I would prefer to have them in the theme options panel. Any idea how I could fix it?
Does this help you out?
http://themeforest.net/item/total-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/6339019/faqs/18963Indeed, it hasn’t had the write capabilities on the folder, when the admin panel ran the first time. I changed the permission to 777 and overwrote the admin folder in theme, but it’s still not working. If you have an idea, how to fix it, let me know, if not, I get along with the workaround. It’s not a big deal…
I’m not talking about file permissions (changing to 777) I mean user ownership.
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-use-chmod-and-chown-command/I made a lot of changes though recently to the theme, including the Google Fonts function. So if you haven’t updated to the latest version, please try, it might fix your issue.
ps: Be sure to update the theme, visual composer and the visual composer extension plugins. If you didn’t get the auto notices, you can find links to the updates in the folder called “plugins” in the readme.txt file (when you download all files).
hi, great theme! little question. my layout style is boxed. how can i make my slider on home fullwidth (in boxed layout)?
thanks for help! wistlaumann
i’ve found the option by myself
Great, I’m glad! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner – have been sick ;(
Hello,
I would vote for a way to “clone to” or “copy to” for example, I like: “homepage-parallax” I wish I could easily copy this page’s sample content to a new page. Rather then editing xml, etc. Just 1-2 clicks.
You can create templates with the Visual Composer so you can easily duplicate your pages – http://cl.ly/image/1g3Q1H3o0g41
awesome!!! tnx
Sure thing!
3 questions: 1. How do I get the User Guide to show the screen shots? I’m just getting little boxes with ? in them?
2. As with Christin above, I can’t figure out how to import the sample data. I finally found a setup.XML file but don’t know what to do with it. Please clarify.
3. Lastly, how do I modify the bar that has my tagline & page names below my header. The type is too big and I’d like to change its color.
Thanks on all…
1. If the user guides aren’t showing the images then it sounds like either you moved the html file to a separate folder or your images folder is empty. Maybe try re-downloading? The images are included, I just double checked. Make sure you are opening the html file in a modern browser.
2. Importing should be done via the WordPress import area:
http://cl.ly/image/2F0y1w3C0q0p http://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content#WordPress If you are going to be using WooCommerce you should also activate that plugin so you don’t receive any errors. I also recommend you activate the recommended theme plugins prior to import.3. I’m not quite sure what section you are referring to ;( Can you post the site URL or show a screenshot? Thanks!
Okay, thanks. I worked all these out.
Great!
Is there any way that we can change the font and size for things like the Callout text, etc? I’ve noticed a few places where we can’t make changes.
Thank you so much!
You would need to do this via CSS. There are a couple areas you can’t specifically alter this, because if there was an option for absolutely everything the options page would be 1000’s of options and take minutes to load, so we’ve added what we think is most important.
For example for the callout the CSS would be something like…
/*just an example css for changing callout font size and family*/
#footer-callout-left { font-size: 14px; font-family: 'Arial'; }
Where do I find the place to change the logo text, if I am not uploading a logo file? Can I change the logo text from Total to my site name? I’ve looked everywhere, but I must be overlooking it.
Thank you so much!
This would be in the WordPress dashboard at Settings->General.
Be sure to first remove the default image logo though – http://cl.ly/image/3x3K0w3u3722
I can’t figure out how to import the sample data. It doesn’t seem to have any way to take the file off of my computer. Only a blank box appears with this text above it:
Input your backup file below and hit Import to restore your sites options from a backup.
It also says that you can import from a URL.
Can you please explain how I am supposed to do this? Thank you so much!!!
Importing should be done via the WordPress import area:
http://cl.ly/image/2F0y1w3C0q0phttp://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content#WordPress
If you are going to be using WooCommerce you should also activate that plugin so you don’t receive any errors. I also recommend you activate the recommended theme plugins prior to import.
Hi, I’m trying to make all of my images in the staff grid and image carousels the same size so that the page can have a cleaner look to it. How do I do this?
Nevermind…I got it.
Great, thanks for letting me know!
Hey there – told you I’d be back for more.
When uploading the dummy file, I got the following errors:
Failed to import Media “Wedding Patterns”, “preferred-total-dummy-with-image.xml_.txt”, “minimal-iphone-template-hires”, “girl16”, “visual composer” invalid post type sidebar, “special shop pages” invalid post type sidebar
Will these errors cause me any issues? I am most concerned with the visual composer error since everything else seems to be images/dummy text which I will be replacing anyway.
Also – my slider isn’t working on some of the template pages (the home page namely). I get this error on the webpage:
[LayerSliderWP] Slider not found
How do I fix this? You can see the website by going to:
http://testing.comfortplusshoes.com/There shouldn’t be any major problems. Like you said the sample data is just sample data
For the slider, the issue is that the way the LayerSlider plugin works is it resets the slider counter on each new site, so your slider ID’s after importing might not match the imported slider IDs in the meta fields or post editors ;(
It’s not a big deal though. All you need to do is either import the sample sliders or make your own then go to the homepage and enter the correct shortcode for the slider – http://cl.ly/image/3V0z0A3V0b3d
Hope this helps, just let me know if you have further questions/issues!
Thank you for the purchase,
- AJ
When editing the dummy data contact pages I’m having trouble changing the Google Map element location. I’ve tried it on a couple of the different contact pages your provided, but no luck. Please let me know if this is a know bug, or what I might do that would allow me to change the location. Thanks!
Are you pasting the correct URL into the Google Map field?
You might need to switch over to the old Google Map to get the link if you are having trouble – https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3045828?hl=en
That did it! Thanks again!

Hi I am loving this theme! I have one quick question for you, I have a testimonial on my page which was incredibly easy to add. Is there a way to add a headshot of my client to the testimonial? Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks, Eric
Hi Eric,
Glad you are liking it, thanks for the purchase
How did you add the testimonial? I actually recently updated the Visual Composer Extension plugin so that the testimonial slider module will include the featured images, but I haven’t released that version yet, if you want it and that is in fact what you are using send me a private message so I can zip it over.
Thanks I am having two little problems I could really use some help with.
When viewing my site on an iPad in vertical view I am getting all these boxes across the header. How do I eliminate that? http://johnrexschool.org/
Question number #2. If I have deleted a page that came in with all the theme samples and want to retrieve it back, just that one page, is there a way to do that?
Looks like a cracking theme! My only question is one which probably is more Woocommerce related. I am looking to sell landscape photographs and replace my old unresponsive theme. I’d like the products to display horizontally not vertically. So two questions: 1. Does your theme allow horizontal displays on the home page shop version and 2. If it does how many images can i fit onto the front page. Many Thanks!
Hi there,
Just to be clear the homepages aren’t built-in, there is actually a page builder included so you can create any number of layouts, so you do have a lot more control then what you just see in the demo.
Regarding the shop images…So for the shop homepage example we just used the WooCommerce shortcode to display recent products – http://cl.ly/image/3I3u3y2Q0D3l – if you want more landscape photos I would suggest maybe doing 2 or 3 columns instead of 4. Then you can change the image cropping in the theme options – http://cl.ly/image/3R40073t2Z46 – by default they are cropped more vertically
Hi,
The developers did an amazing job with this theme. But there are a few things I can’t do. Most of my posts start with a picture :
- How can I display the picture on the homepage, in a reduced size, above the text extract ?
- All pictures have a comment (source, or name of the artist) which is displayed on the homepage before the sample text. Can I hide this ?
Thank you for your help.
Thanks for the kind words. Just 1 developer though!
I’m a bit confused about the questions, can you let me know how you’ve setup the homepage so I can advise? The best would be if you can show me the URL in question (if you don’t want to share publicly you can contact me privately via my profile page).
And that way I’ll be glad to help! I’m also making some updates to the Visual Composer Extension plugin so it might be better to send me a message privately so if you require an update to do what you want I can send it right over.
I’m new to this and was trying to change the large images within the slider though cant figure out the size or dimensions of the images you used. Would you be able to tell me the size of the images so I can properly change them to something else.
If you want, the included zip comes with the slides from the demo inside the “Dummy” folder so you can upload them to your site and see how we made them, might be a bit easier.
But basically the image sizes really depend on what you are trying to make, it can take a bit of trial/error before you get it looking perfect
Especially when dealing with a full-width slider.
If you do want to just know the sizes we use and not import and sample sliders, let me know which slider you are talking about so I can tell you.
Thanks! I’m currently using the homepage with the gym theme so the image of the runners foot is what I’m trying to replace
Thanks for theme and great job. I have it installed on my web server and it works fine. However, I wanted to install a local version on mu laptop to develop without being live. Is this possible. I have got my local server working but cannot load/install the required plugins..
Andrew
think it downloaded now may of be a timeout issue..tnx
Thanks for letting me know Andrew! Enjoy your weekend
The logo appears too small on my mobile appearance. What can I do to adjust that?
Sorry to bother you. I figured it out. THANKS though. btw I am really enjoying all the extensive details involved in this theme. Best theme I have ever seen!
