Hello,
Great theme. Unfortunately there is one problem I am having. I have set up the contact form (in footer and on contact page). But when I fill the form and test, I cannot get email sent to the email I have set up. Please can you help me with this? I have sent login info to you via your page on Themeforest. Please help as soon as you can thanks
Just a quick query – were you able to receive emails from this WordPress installation before, like when you installed the wordpress or when you add a user etc.? Also you need to specify the target/receiver’s email in the mail_to parameter to the [contact_form] shortcode. Pls confirm. Thanks
Yes.. I have added email to short code.. Please check your private messages in theme forest you will see login information. You can check yourself as well.. Please I need this help very quickly.. Thanks this is for my client
I logged into your site and checked the contact form. Contact form in the footer seems to work fine there. I received the email which I have forwarded to you. Please check with another email address and also check the spam folders once. Thanks!
Yes you are right.. I tried another email and it worked.. But this is the clients email.. Why isn’t it working?? Maybe we need to change SMTP setting? I checked and didn’t see either? What can be the problem?
Since the email is reaching others, the problem can only be on the receiver’s side (Client’s side). I don’t think there is any need to change the SMTP settings. You can ask your client to check with the admins on his side.
Hi,
Great looking design!
Are the various images included with the theme? Backgrounds, phones, tablets, hand holding phone?
Thanks!
Thanks for your interest.
Some of the images like iPhone in the smartphone slider and icons are available with the theme. Other images are not bundled with the theme. But when you import the sample data, you have a choice of importing the images as placeholders which you can later replace with your own images.
Question regarding the App theme. Am I able to place the navigation section to the right and will a gallery plugin work with this theme?
Gallery plugin should work with the theme. Regarding changing the location of the navigation section (I assume you are talking about the top menu), it’s not possible unless you edit the header.php and customize the theme quite a bit through additional CSS. Navigation menus are hard to style due to presence of hierarchy (multiple levels).
I cant import the sample data, what should I do to fix this?

Thanks for choosing Appdev. You can pretty much ignore the errors if you do not want to use WooCommerce. If you do need to, just repeat the import after activating the free WooCommerce plugin. Hope this helps.
Ok, Woocommerce errors. Thats clear!
How can I add a http link to the Image Shortcode?
It can be done by having a link attribute/argument passed to the shortcode or by just wrapping the shortcode with an anchor tag -
[image align="right" link="#" style="" alt="Lorem ipsum" title="Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet" size="medium" src="http://portfoliotheme.org/appdev/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/mapigon-big1.png"]
I just purchased this theme and got it up and running quickly!! I did find that I’m getting this error
http://www.example.com/wp-content/plugins/revslider/rs-plugin/css/static-captions.css?rev=4.1&ver=3.8Could you let me know how to correct this?
Thanks, Matt
Thanks for your purchase! Can you pls email me (see bottom box on my profile page) the URL and preferably a temp login to the site so that I can take a look?
Hi there,
I am facing an issue.
The width of the site isn’t wide enough on different computers. My client has tried on a variety of laptops and browsers, and the website seems to not show its full width – even if u zoom out – it’s as if the site has the sides cut off.
On my end the viewing experience is good. Not sure what it is. but he’s showed me over Skype his viewing experience and its similar to this:
http://tinypic.com/r/hv56he/5Is there a simple solution? Thank you again for your time!
Direct URL >> dummy.tchepa.com
I am experiencing the same issue as reported by your client. At certain resolutions, the captions has not enough space on the screen to appear on the left.
Since you are using revolution slider, can you consider creating two slides? One introducing the app with the captions – scan, order, pay and the next one inviting the users to watch the video? At present, a single slide has too much information to handle. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply! I got rid of the video. Still the same thing.
This is very odd. Please let me know how to fix this as it is delaying the final product. Has it anything to do with settings in Revolution slider?
Have you encountered this before? Waiting to hear back. Thanks.
You just need to pull those captions towards the center in the revolution slider edit slide window and you should do fine. The captions are far too much to the left to be visible in lower resolutions.
Hi LiveMesh,
Sorry one other question – how do you disable comments box from pages?
I dont really want to just hide them i want to literally disable the option.
thanks
Pls refer to this page -
http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/thanks – i updated my wordpress install – that did the trick!
Hi LiveMesh,
Am probably missing an option here somewhere but is there a way to have it always sure the default Custom WP Menu?
The menu that is being generated is out of order it appears to be alphabetical – i just want it to be the same as what i have my custom menu set to be.
Any pointers greatly appreciated.
FYI i have multiple pages using page sections – i hid the links to the sections using css.
Am thinking its due to The “Choose the Pages for Navigation Menu” putting the order alphabetical where actually they should be by page order.
If i dont select any pages from the “Choose the Pages for Navigation Menu” all am seeing is the home button and the current page in the menu – but i have all the pages selected in my menu and assign to main menu too.
Thanks
If you have version 2.0 or later, you can optionally create a separate WP menu for each single page you create and set the same as the menu in the page edit window using this option -
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9j6FQo4cSQFV3REbUh0NmNSckE/edit?usp=drivesdkI guess this meets your need.
ah yep need to update was running v1.5 – thanks for fast response as always!
Hi Again!
My client would like the “GET THIS APP” found on the top menu bar to be permanent on the menu bar when you scroll throughout the page?
Please let me know if this is possible as it would be well appreciated. Thank you very much for your time!
-Joshua.
Pls insert the following CSS into Custom CSS tab in the Theme Options panel or the <theme directory>/custom/custom.css file -
#header.sticky .button.get-app, #header.sticky .social-container {
display: block;
}
Thanks for the reply!
Pasted it into Custuom CSS – but it didn’t change anything. Thoughts?
Hi, So I got it to work but the GET APP is hanging off the menu. Please see pictures – http://postimg.org/image/gizevjqlb/
I think we may have to big the height of the menu larger to make the GET APP fit within in. Please let me know how to precede next.
Thank you!
Pls email me the URL of this page and I can help you out with this. That way I can get the precise measurements to accomodate this button in the sticky menu. Thanks.
Whats your email?
Pls see bottom right box in my profile page. You can email an author this way in ThemeForest.
Hi
When I see the web in a smarthphone, and I do click in menu element that has a subelement, I can´t see the element item, automatically display the subelement.
You can see and example there: http://quirktools.com/screenfly/#u=http%3A//instagramersgasteiz.com/&w=320&h=568&a=37
Click en el Menu and Click in Instagramers. You can’t see the content of this! How i can resolve it? Thanks
Well I checked your site on my iPhone and it seems to be behaving normally. The menu item with a sub element is displaying an arrow indicating the subitem and then when I click on the same, the submenu item was displayed without issues. Am I missing anything here? I hope I am getting your query right.
Yes, the problem is that i can’t see the Instagramers Page. When I click in Instagramers, display the submenu (app) but i can’t see the Instagramers page. This has content!
I see the issue. I guess we need to live with this because if I did enable load page on the click, there is no way for the user to navigate to the submenu item since every time you click on the parent menu item, you end up loading the page. Hope you get it.
In desktop world, we have two ways to navigate – hover and click and hence it is ok to just open the page when you click on the URL since hover will enable you to navigate still to the submenu item. In the mobile world, there is only touch(=click) action that we use to arrive at the submenu item and hence we need to disable navigation on touch of the parent menu item.
The way I have been handling this is by having the page linked to by the parent menu item listed also as submenu item so that users do not miss out on the same. When the hover gets enabled and submenu is shown, users often do not click on the item itself and hence you can lose some traffic on that page.
Ok, I understand, thanks for all and I trie to modify the structure! Thanks You!
Glad that helped.
Hi there, I seem to be missing a couple of the widgets that your documentation mentions, I don’t have the Contact Form widget.
Where could I grab it?
Thanks!
There is no separate contact form widget as such. For the contact form, pls drag and drop the Text widget and insert the shortcode as shown in the below page -
http://portfoliotheme.org/appdev/contact-form-shortcode/You can try out Contact Form 7 plugin widget too and theme will style it appropriately.
Thinking of buying this theme but have a one questions prior to purchasing it:
Does the theme allows me to add/upload my own BG Image? or I only have an option to choose from the preset images?
Thanks for your interest. Yes, the theme does allow you to upload your own background images through an image uploader field.
Hi,
I have a question around the wordpress theme AppDev. I want to buy the theme but first I would like to know if it can easily be customised to look like my design here:
http://gillianseeleydesigns.prevue.it/view/2lb8zu PW: bbb123Thank you very much. Richard
Thanks for your interest! I did look at your site and it is already looking great. Customizing Appdev to make it look like your site will require some effort depending on how comfortable with CSS and to what extent you want to replicate the function of the current site. The theme comes with 4 skins and most styles related to skinning is located in a file named default.css which you will need to modify to match the color on your site. Hope this helps.
Hi! In my revolution slide appears a numbers no a arrows. Why?
Pls email me a temp login to your site (see bottom right box on my profile page) and I can take a look. Thanks!
Hello,
Just some feedback from a new purchaser of your theme.
I think it would be very helpful if there was a detailed tutorial on how to recreate the home page you have on the demo page. I have watched the installation video and to be honest I find it hard to figure out what is going on at times. Actual voice narration with full and detailed explanations would be great. Also, showing what the site looks like after changes are made I think would be most helpful.
(I tried to import the WordPress data and the importation at first hung for a long time and then failed to import many of the files. I followed the instructions exactly from the video.)
It looks like a lot of shortcodes are being used for the home page but I have no idea which ones are being used which leaves me only with trial and error trying to figure out which ones do which.
Thanks for creating a nice looking theme! I just hope that I can use and install all the great features. I hope you don’t mind my feedback.
Would it be possible to get a copy of the shortcodes used in the “Features” page section? Many thanks
Most shortcodes are documented through shortcodes pages – they provide the code and help demonstrate the output of the shortcodes. A few like [segment] and custom post type related shortcodes are explained in the documentation. The shortcode pages are online and you also get these pages on your site when you import our sample data.
I am sorry you are having trouble with the video. I will try to add more annotations, in addition to what I already have, to the video to make it more useful. Meanwhile, if you send across the temp login to your site, I can have things setup for you.
I urge you to load the sample data to reduce time it takes to build your site. The features section code is included with the sample data as well. Again, let me know if you need help. Thanks!
Hi there,
There is a file called “appdev-child.zip” that comes with this theme. The installation video makes no mention of this. Do you have an article or video that explains the purpose of the child theme?
I’m sure you get asked this question a lot
Thanks!
This article explains it all -
http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_ThemesThe zip contains a template child theme which you can use to customize the theme without touching the parent theme’s code. It also has the required styles to set the font to Museo, in case you need it.
Thank you!
I’m confused.
Sorry but I didn’t think this theme would be that complicated and I’ve built one-page websites before.
I am trying to activate all the basics, and I cannot seem to enable the one-page scrolling. When I click on the menu item it loads into another page.
I am reading documentation, forums, youtube video, etc .. I would please love some insight to get the ball rolling.
Thank You!
Probably there is an JS error of some kind that is making the smooth scroll function to not work. Or you are just missing one thing – using “Single Page Site” page template.
If you still have trouble, can you send me the URL and preferably a temp login as well. If you have read the first section of the documentation-installation and single page configuration, it is all explained in clear detail visually how to set this all up.
Thanks for your purchase!
Thank you very much for a follow up.
I’ve gotten another question which I cannot find a solution for. How does one change the background of page sections? Such as the “FEATURES” page, the light blue part of the “PRICING” page, and the picture in the “TEAM” page.
I am aware of the “Segment” shortcode plugin. But this doesn’t have the option for the changing colors in the dummy content page sections.
Cheers.
You can change background color of segments too by using background_color argument.
For setting the backgrounds for page titles, you can use the Custom Header Options and Header Options input fields present in the page edit window. This lets you set backgrounds, custom HTML as heading or description for existing title of the page/post etc. These input fields are located just below the visual editor in the Page Edit window.
For setting an universal background for all pages, you can do the same with the help of the option named “Background for Title Header Area” under the Backgrounds tab in the theme options panel.
Hi
Is a great theme with a lot of posibilities, and this is the problem
I would like to put a header like your example blog (image + text ) but I don’t know how to do.
So far I’ve been able to do this http://instagramersgasteiz.com/contacto/
Thanks!
If you have the sample data loaded, you would be able to actually see how this is being done.
In the case of our blog, I am providing the required input in the Page Edit window under options named “Custom header Options”. You have options to specify header background, custom HTML/description etc.
For simpler case, pls have a look at the “Header Options” too just under the visual editor in the Page Editor. Let me know if you have trouble finding this.
Pls make sure you specify background size as cover when you set the same so that it occupies full width. See the screenshot below for the fields I was talking about earlier -
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9j6FQo4cSQFeGl0cnE5dFp4OUE/edit?usp=drivesdkOk, perfect!
Thank you so much for soon reply!
Why is the footer moved? Only in the home page, in the other pages not happen. Thanks!
I see that the content in the home page is not well-formed. Some divs are not closed. If you email me a temp login to the page, I can correct it for you, if you are not able to locate it yourself. You may need to get to the HTML tab to see the actual error. I see that it is in the Work page section at least.
Ok, I saw the div that not closed. Thank you!
Hi,
Just translated with POEDIT, and put the MO file in directory Language within Themes/Appdev.
Still all in English, is there any way to force it to fr_FR please ?
WP is in French, and language is defined as FR in Functions.php
Thanks a lot, great theme BTW
I think you may have missed editing the wp-config.php file as per the instructions here -
http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress_in_Your_Languagehi, thanks for you answer, but we already did that… We’d like to be able to edit the CONTACT form fields so as to replace EN text with FR text… Could not find the file to edit…?
I checked the contact-shortcodes.php file located in <theme directory>/framework/shortcodes folder and I find that most of the English language strings are translatable there. You should be able to find the strings like “Name *”, “Email *”, “Phone Number”, “Send” etc. in the .po files (you can also try updating them using POEdit just in case).
Even the strings which raise validation errors for the form are translatable and should be there available for translation in .po file in languages folder.
If you still have trouble, pls email me a FTP + WordPress login to this site and I can take a look. Thanks.
hi, thanks, we could change it thanks to your help. BUT we’d like to translate also the error messages from the contact form “please provide your name”. And to translate the “message sent” message. Could you tell us in which file they are located pls ?
Even the messages – validation and success messages are available in the .po file to translate. If you are looking for the PHP file, you can have a look at <theme dir>/framework/framework.php file around line number 544 onward.
