You mentioned you’d have a regular image slider in your 2.0 release. Did you add this, I can’t find it. No worries if you didn’t, I can use the Flex Slider or Royal Slider I’ve purchased. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t over looking it.
The new Nectar Slider is it mate. It can display just images, you don’t need to use video backgrounds or even have it full width. Please check out my tutorial on it as it’s pretty flexible

Thanks! I was looking to create some “anything sliders” with content i nthem. I wanted to install Woo’s Flex Slider WP Plugin. I’m concerned it could screw things up since your already using the flexslider.js as part of your theme. Thoughts?
It’s possible there could be conflicts if the script isn’t getting registered under the same name thus leaving you with two copies running. You however could just unqueue Salients flexslider script in the functions.php easily to avoid running into any bumps
I’ve been working with the theme for several hours, and… Just stopped by to say: what a beautiful theme. The video tutorials are amazing, and gave me, for the first time, complete understanding of the shortcodes and the ways to work with them. If you are more of a Page Builder person, don’t be afraid: the video and written documentation will enlighten you so clearly that will forget about that in no time. The most complete them i’ve ever worked with, and the one that’s allowing me to have the best design results.

Amazing theme, Awesome author, but theme not fully friendly with Adsense in some browsers.
In Chrome and Opera (latest) Adsense banner (old or new async version) in sidebar sometimes not displayed (empty on page, but present in code) in all blog and search archives. In Chrome also in posts.

May be it is a JS error? I see one in Chrome Devtools – Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method ‘setTimeout’ of null – in osd.js – 62 line (google adsense js), on another my sites with themes from here with adsense no any errors.
...I noticed that the problem disappears when turning off the cache in the Google Chrome, using option: Disable cache (while DevTools is open)...
Very similar the problem in JS – conflict theme JS and Adsense.

Hey esm2010! Currently Salient is not meant to be a true one page theme, the main portfolio is set using a page layout you can only place a recent work carousel through shortcodes.

All you need to do is download the theme again from ThemeForest to have the latest release. Then just delete the current version you have on your server and upload the new All of you content and settings will be safe so don’t worry about that!

Were you coming from a very old version of the theme? Have you also cleared your browser’s cache? If so, please open a ticket on the support forum so I can check it out

I was using version 1.9 .. yes i did clear all my brower’s cache .. i just rolled back to old version and having same issue.. something is messed up i guess ..

Just having a problem with the homepage landing page slider, when i set the slider text to ‘Bottom’ it cuts off the buttons when shrunk down to mobile size. Are you able to tell help me please or let me know were to insert more padding under the slider text so its visible at mobile size? I understand making the area height larger will fix the problem but i really dont want it 700+ height.

Thanks for the quick response though it didn’t seem to do anything? I pasted the code into the custom css section in theme options. What does it do? I am just after some more padding under it all as it cuts off at mobile size.
Also the body text in the slider section becomes so small its unreadable at mobile size, do you know why this is? I am happy to lose the buttons at mobile size if needed though the font size goes to like 6 which users wont be able to read?

1. The snippet I gave you will move the content area up within the slider to be positioned correctly however I don’t see it in your custom css on the front.
2. The slider text scales down with the slider proportionally so that everything can fit the same as it does on desktop. I know it looks small on a desktop when shrinking the screen, but on a retina display it is legible and you can still zoom in on your phone if you need to. It’s the same way slider rev handles mobile view. If you would rather ditch the buttons and increase the size I would be willing to supply the snippet for that as well, but apparently your custom css isn’t making it to the front. Please open a private ticket on the support forum with your info so I can check it out

hi themenectar! thx so much for 2.05. the nectar sliders inside tabbed sections are working now, but there’s still a slight little glitch; the first tab opens fine, but when i click the other tabs, i have to toggle the window in order for the slider to show up. once it shows up its fine, it just needs that little push!! is there any way to fix that?

You don’t need any special server setup – the video background may look awesome but it’s just a regular html5 video that’s being served. As long as you compress your video files to properly stream on the web (15mb – 30mb) you should be good in regards to loading time. Also take simple steps like setting up W3 cache for increased performance

I don’t know if anybody else ask it before but i want to know if it possible to use home slider in any other page. I use qtranslate for dual language website. But it doesn’t translate slider texts. Do you have a solution about that.

1. You can’t use home sliders on multiple pages, but you can use the Nectar Slider on any page where ever you want.
2. I have not tested specifically with qtranslate regarding the home slider yet unfortunately.

I was wondering what kind of video compression/format the live preview video for the homepage hero was using. I’ve seen this video type on other sites, and it seems to have a smaller file size than a standard video so i was curious about it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Here’s a converter I used for webm: http://video.online-convert.com/convert-to-webm also you can use things like adobe media encoder or even compress straight in after effects etc..all video editing programs usually give you control over compression in one way or another.

You can upload it straight to your Media Library in WordPress and copy the url from there or you can ftp it to a place on your server and link directly to it where ever it is that you put it

Quick question. The latest update to the theme is quite different from the original. Some great improvements, but if I update my theme, will I lose any of the shortcode or setting that I have now?
I have not done anything to customize the site, but I don’t want to have go in and rebuild all my theme settings and shortcodes on subpages.

1. Your update looks incomplete..the search icon is simply not showing in the html as it should. Do you have a caching plugin on your server you didn’t clear? If not, are you sure you did a clean delete of the old theme before uploading the new version?

1. The html as it appears in the header.php file as of 2.0 has this inside of the anchor for the search button:
<span class="icon-salient-search" aria-hidden="true" />
Yours is missing that. It is the old pre 2.0 structure where the anchor is blank. There’s no explanation for the fact your file is different other than the two possibilities I listed above – hard cached or incomplete update. Please open your header.php and verify you have the correct markup that includes the
<span class="icon-salient-search" aria-hidden="true" />
2. Your site is showing that you set your custom typography on and chose open sans with a light font weight. This is why the font is different than the default which is a regular or normal font weight.
Thank you on the typography side of things. As far as the header.php, I have downloaded it several times and replaced it, but no luck still.

Does Salient store the Custom Css in a particular spot?
Inside of the database in the wp_options table. Check the row with “salient” as the option name and the option_value will be a serialized object of all of the theme options. So basically everything is stored in there.
