The theme is great! Had a few issues with instal ..

Seems to be working fine now..

Except one big issue. I cannot get any of the individual projects / portfolio items to open individually from the main portfolio page..

Also the divider is appearing at the top of this page (divider with geometric shape and white letter “W”) I cant see any way to remove it easily. I have called the page “Portfolio” so the “W” doesn’t make sense here

Hi Anna,

you can remove the “W” shape in a very easy way, just add this rule to your custom styles:

.section-header { display: none; }

In case of the projects loading issue. The best we can do here is taking a look to your site, for this, I recommend you opening a private support ticket and provide us with an admin user & password to your site. We will check the reason for this weird behavior.

Cheers!

Thank you for your quick response! Its appreciated :)

Is there a way to easily change the letter as well as an alternative to removal?

I think I solved the individual loading issue.. now its just a matter of the rollover text showing normal on vertical photos and shifting too far down on horizontal photos (its like they are all registering as vertical photos) on the main portfolio page.

Any insight into this?

Hi Anna,

you can modify this directly from the related php file. This is “archive-portfolio.php”, here, around the line 45, you will find this:

<h4><?php _e("W","flamingo"); ?></h4>

Just modify the tagging as you prefer. Just notice that the “wrapping shape” is created with CSS, but the text can be modified directly with this line.

About the other issue, I will need to take a look to it in order to understand it better. I´m not sure about the problem you are facing with it, I´m sorry.

Hope it will help.

Cheers! :)

when I’m in the portfolio section in wp-admin it shows:

Hola! Please activate your copy of Visual Composer to receive automatic updates.

i have filled the necessary details but it keeps showing up.

is envato username and api key the same as theme forest?

Hi tine,

which Flamingo´s version are you using?

Hi there,

Really enjoying the theme so far. I couldn’t find the sample page coding/ data used in the portfolio section ( e.g. once you click on the object there’s another page with the info and further breakdown).

Would you be able to provide this like the one seen in the documentation?

Cheers,

Tyler

Hi Tyler,

which content do you mean? Is the one related to “La Belle” project? With the XML demo content you can create all the same contents you can view within the official demo. But if you have contents in your site now I don´t recommend you using it.

Open a support ticket in case you need the page builder code basis for “La Belle” project. It will be copy and paste :)

If this is not the content you need, just let me know a little bit more.

Cheers!

Hi Van Kar Wai, First of all, GREAT THEME!! Love it! _ I have a question about the home page.. Is it possible to change the slide title into the white font with that scroll down button from the other pages? And I was wondering from who that video with the kid in the empty pool on one of your tutorial videos is ( http://youtu.be/q-6XaImEIKk ) I LIKE IT :P Hopefully I can use that too above my contact page :) Thanks a lot!!

Hi!

If I understand well, you would like to enable the main heading when the slideshow is enabled, right?

For this, you only need to remove/comment this line you will find within custom.js, around the line 328:

$(".header-display").remove();

This line, when a slider is enabled in a page, removes the heading for this particular page.

The background you mention is not a video really, it is an animated gif (I love movies and GIFs :) ). I found it here.

Hope it will be useful for you.

Cgreetings!

Yaaayy thanks!! Now I have the scroll down button also on my homepage, exactly what I wanted :D And OMG haha I see squint now but I found the gif! Tnx again! Bye bye!

I completely fell in love with it! Yet it seems to work slow on my servers, could it be because of the amount of scripts used?

Hi didi!

it depends on your server features. Some shared hosting have lower responses and low load times. You could try to use some cache plugin in order to improve this. Some users with low hosting plans are using it and they have notice improvements in their sites. You can use this one, for example.

If you could need some help, do not hesitate to open a support ticket.

Hope it will be useful for you.

Greetings!

this is used to offer something to your guest and they have to supply their name and email to receive it. their info is collected and gift sent back to them.

Oh, in that case I´m sorry to say that the theme does not include any option of this kind. I did not understand well the “opt in” term. I thought about something like “in built options” with external plugins.

thank you, can it be added later as a plug in . would this template support it?

Do you have any particular plugin in mind? Let me know and I can check it because I´m not sure. This should not be any problem, but I would like to check it to give you a proper answer.

I have two questions. Can a novice use this template and does it include “opt in” pages Had to repost because I forgot to check email me..please use this post to reply to

Hi!

We tried to make the theme as easy to use as possible. I can tell you that we have some users with no experience with WP that found the theme very easy to use, they contact us with us via our support system to ask for some modification details and let us know this.

Anyway, the best I can do is linking you here to the documentation in order to show you who to work with the theme.

Flamingo includes a complete XML file that will help you to add your own content based on the demo structure (only images are not included, they are replaced by placeholders). With zero experience and reading the documentation you could have your site running in few minutes like in the demo.

If you want to customize the theme in some particular way, you would need some basic HTML/CSS knowledges. Advanced customizations would need advanced knowledges, of course. In this sense, we don´t provide customizations as part of the support tasks.

The theme´s option panel let you enable or disable features like menus or layouts with simple options. Adding background images or slides it is very easy too. Also creating your own content layouts thanks to the page builder included with the theme.

But as I said, the best would be to take a look to the documentation in order to know if the theme would be enough easy to use for you.

Let me know if you could have any doubt or question about something related to the theme. For this, please, use the “reply” button in order to follow this thread.

In any case, thank you very much about your interest in Flamingo.

Best, Van.

Van the second question was about and “opt in” page/plugin, is that part of the package too BTW thank you for your quick reply :-)

Hi,

what kind of “opt in” plugin do you need? Flamingo includes Visual Composer as page builder or Contact Form 7 to create any kind of contact form. VC includes a lot of components that will help you to create your own layouts in a easy way. Within the documentation you have a screencast about how this plugin works.

Hope it will answer your question :)

I have two questions. Can a novice use this template and does it include opt in pages

Appreciate the last answer to my comments. I figured out a work around. I have another question. I am showing a featured blog post on my homepage using the wp-posts in the visual composer.

I would like there to be a featured image and excerpt from the post. All it shows is the headline. I cannot find the widget php to add these elements.

Please advise

Hi!

I recommend you opening a support ticket and provide your site URL in order to check closer how you are using the widget. In this way is easier for me to help :)

Cheers!

Hi again, Thanks for so much help! I’m having issues with the loading speed for http://daphnetaylorquilts.com. Will the site speed up if I delete all unused media files? Any other suggestions you might have?

Hi Pete,

surfing this site I have noticed some low server responses loading a couple of pages. This is a server issue, some shared hosting have very poor responses and causes low load rates.

You could use some cache plugin like W3 Total Cache. This should help to improve your loads times, but it won´t help with your server response.

Hope it will help. Cheers!

Ok, that’s what I thought. Thanks for confirming!

Hi, Great theme, and its working very well. thank you. I need to have a separate background image for the footer area. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

Hi,

the theme does now allow this as a in-built option, you only can use a background image, technically is not possible to use more than one (well, some CSS specifications can, but this won´t be implemented because other practical & usability reason). So the only option you have in this sense would be modifying the default page template in order to add a new image at the bottom and manage this with some php conditionals that would control the page is loaded, and depending on this page you load a footer image or other.

We can guide you in this sense, but we do not offer customizations of any kind as part of the support tasks.

Hope it will help. Cheers!

Hi,

Beautiful theme. One question: how can i change the theme name so other people won’t be able to see it if they look at my html source?

Is it okey to change only the name of the folder or do i have to change the .css file too?

Thank you,

Hi!

you can do this if you install the theme directly via FTP, here you only need to create your own folder within themes folder with the naming you prefer and inside this folder copying all the files included within the theme´s folder you download from Themeforest (not the entire package, only the theme´s folder content).

This should be: Log in into your site via FTP > Go to wp-content > themes > Here you must to create your own folder, something like “my-site” and inside this folder copy all the content you find within the theme´s folder you have in your Flamingo´s package.

Hope I explained well myself! If not, let me know, ok?

Greetings!

Hello ! I love the design of your template but it keeps crashing on my iPhone 5 and 5c, iOS 7, using Safari.

Thanks.

Hi Vivien,

I recommend you to remove the Themeforest frame in order to run correctly the theme in mobile devices. This element breaks a lot of themes here in the marketplace. Just click the “Remove frame” button you will find in the left top part of your screen.

Greetings!

Thank you again for creating such a wonderful theme!

Is there a way to reduce the opacity of the menu bar, throughout the site, using CSS? Thank you!

Thank you – I’m currently using Layout 4 with the Sticky menu enabled.

Hi Pete,

I guess you are referring to the opacity when the sticky is enabled, right? If it is, you can use this custom rule in order to make more transparent your menu bar:

.sticky-opacity.menu-layout-fixed.menu-layout-3 .bottom-menu-angle {
   background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5);
}

Adjust the last value in order to fit better the look you are searching for. Notice that this value goes from 0 to 1.

Hope it will help. Cheers!

It works! Thanks!

I’m having a problem with the social icons in the footer. When i’m using IE9 with Windows 7 the icons displays with a black background and when hovering over them you kind of see the rotated box. You can see the issue at the bottom of the page here: http://alive.no

The works fine in all the other browsers.

Hi!

I will review this closer because I can´t check it in Windows 8 and I will try to find a good solution for this detail and it will be included within the next update in case it is a general detail.

Greetings!

You mean Windows 7, right? ;) Had to remove the social icons on the page for a little while. The client was gonna use the page during a meeting today… Thanks! :)

Yes, I meant W7! I´m sorry about this drawback, I will take a look to it as soon as possible. Thanks! :)

Hello, quite an amazing theme! Best I’ve used yet.

Is there a way to make the page to scroll to a particular point when loaded, using CSS?

Thanks!

OK Pete,

first, you need to use the RAW HTML widget you will find within the page builder widgets set. Just add this widget within your layout in the place where you would like to scroll the page when load. The markup would be something like this:

<a name="checkpoint"></a>

Well, you have now a checkpoint within your layout, notice that you could use any name instead. After this, you need to add this little snippet within custom.js file ( this files is inside of js folder).

function scrollToAnchor(aid){
    var anchor = $("a[name='"+ aid +"']");
    $('html,body').animate({scrollTop: anchor.offset().top},'slow');
}
scrollToAnchor('checkpoint');

I recommend you launching this function when the page has been loaded, for this, you will find around the line 1960:

$(window).load(function(){

Just add this snippet I have provided you after this line.

Hope it will be useful for you.

Greetings!

Thank you for this. All makes sense, except I’m not sure what to change in the code. Do I have to replace “name” with the name of the page? Or, can I leave the code as is?

Hi Pete,

you don´t need to change nothing, this code is ready to use. Just notice that the anchor name can be changed by another one you prefer. If you modify it, remember to do it within the function arg.

Cheers!

Buenos dias Sergio23: Un preguntilla pre-purchase rapida.

Hi there, Is it possible to enable different layer to different pages. And also, enable different menus to different pages??

Hi Sergio,

what do you mean with “different layer”? Normally, any site does not provide this kind of options, specially talking about menus, because usability reasons. I understand you would like to enable different menu layouts in different pages, for example, menu layout 1 in home and menu layout 4 in portfolio, right?

Some functionalities work because a class structure within the DOM´s site. I would need to review this closer and make some test before. So if you are interested, open a support ticket and I will try to provide some guide in order to achieve something similar to this. In advance, I can´t guarantee you it will work well or as you expect because this is a unusual site behavior and the theme was not designed to work in this way.

Cheers!

Hi there, great theme altho i’m having a weird menu issue. When you land on the homepage the logo is flush to the top. If you then scroll down and scroll back up and click on the menu there is a gap there.

Here’s the link: http://atomdc.com/book

I’m not sure what I did I re-uploaded the theme and nothing seems to change?

Please help!

Hi Andy,

this is due to a little bug we have found with the “remove filters” option. We will update the theme within this week and the next coming one in order to create a more complete update improving some other details. While, I suggest you to enable the filters and using this custom rule in order to hide them:

.categories ul { display: none; }

Apologizes about this drawback, as I say, it will be fixed within the next update.

Greetings!
