I want to purchase salient,but one question
I read about it that salient has no button in visual composer,and it has just in shortcodes,if i want to create my pages with visual composer how to create buttons in my sections?

Few elements that don’t make sense to have their own page builder element are simply usable through shortcodes – which can easily be placed into the page builder still where ever you need 
Hi there! I’m trying to change the “background” color of my portfolio item but it seems it’s not possible. The background I’m talking about is not the one that is modified in the Boxed Layout Options but the one where the title, texts, ecc are inserted in, the one between the header and the footer… please tell me it’s possible and how to change it. For some reason the triangle class div in the call to action disappears on certain pages, but is there on others.

It’s purposely hidden when the last section if a full width background row or full width content row since it wouldn’t look good (the triangle is actually just a solid grey color)

Hello, Is is permitted by the license to use the Salient template outside wordpress? How difficult it is to extract static HTML files (or fragments) from the template files? I plan to use it on a Java based web app. Thanks.
Hey ppedruzzi, yes but only if you still use it for one site. Extracting the HTML wouldn’t be too hard – if you need assistance/tips with this just open a ticket on the support forum in regards

If you’re changing it just for one category it would require more work than for all but in either case the way to accomplish this would be by modifying the post query using:
'order' => ASC

1. You can already set the set the number of items to display in a portfolio element which would cause multiple rows to form (not the recent projects element, but the actual portfolio element)
2. I was thinking about this – but I’m not sure if it’ll make the very next version or not yet.

Changing the recent projects to allow multiple rows wasn’t in the queue because of this being possible with the actual portfolio element as mentioned above.

I was really liking this theme until suddenly my shop page stopped rendering the columns x3. Support is taking forever, with very vague solutions in between my responses, with solutions that have not worked. The lightbox never worked so just figured I would live with it, and woocommerce widgets didn’t work either so I replaced those with other options for the footers. But the sudden problem with columns has me totally miffed and the shop page looks horrible. It seems like it coincided with a theme and perhaps a woocommerce update perhaps but still, unsure. Anyone else having this issue? I have tried disabling plugins, changing permissions on jquery placeholder files that I was told were missing but were not, and just about everything else. I’ve reached an impass and don’t know what to do. This is holding up the launching of my client’s site, which was just about there until this issue. I’ve spent hours trying to find a fix for this and my client has also reached out as she was the owner of the license. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated. Also, I just so happened to remove the site wide notice to see what would happen and it removes my menu stating no menu is associated. I have to leave demo store or coming soon in there for my menu to render.

It sounds like it would be a good idea to provide admin access in your ticket if you haven’t already so I can get in and see what the issue is, so please add that information to your ticket if you haven’t.
As for some general knowledge regarding WooCommerce for the public – you must be on the latest Salient release (3.1.5) in order to have full WooCommerce 2.1+ compatibility.

How do you remove the blog meta (comments, category, author) by editing the files prior to version 2.5 when you wrapped the meta in separate elements to allow removal via css?

You would just need to open the files inside of includes/post-templates and delete the relevant section from each. i.e.

Hi, I have WPBakery Visual Composer v.3.7 I would like to update it to 4.0.1 but when I try to update I get this error message “An error occurred while updating WPBakery Visual Composer: Update package not available.”
Hey iammyal, you can’t update the VC to use a newer version unless you give up the Salient tailored VC in which case you’ll lose all of the Salient specific elements and essentially have to use the shortcodes to populate all of Salients unique elements.
Will Salient’s VC and WPBakery VC fall in sync in some near future update?
I am going to wait for the bugs in VC 4.0 to settle down as I know new reports are coming in every day since it’s a major release before I see what will need to be done and how it will effect the building process with Salients element

i have some pre-purchase questions:
1. is it possible to make the site scrolling a bit slower?
(hope you know what i mean)
2. is it possible to have a transparent header (navigation over full width image) and also a not transparent (sticky header for scrolling)?
3. masonry portfolio style is exactly what i was looking for. but is it possible to change opacity for “hover”? i want just a non transparent bg color with text for “hover”.
4. is it easy to change size of textheadlines? (i want really big headlines).
5. is it possible to change the look of the loading background for sliders? there is this grey background with stripes and a loading circle. is it possible to have it black and without stripes (for example)

1. Yes, you can modify that in the javascript or you can disable the smooth scrolling feature all together in the options panel.
2. Yes, but it would require some custom css.
3. Yes, this is also possible with css (that I could provide).

1. Different browsers render fonts differently – the theme already implements -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; for Chrome & Safari so unfortunately there’s not much else you can do.
2. This would take some custom development since that’s technically a custom field and the data is stored outside of what WordPress normally queries for searches.

1. This is something being added in by default in the next update – for now it would require adding the size into the functions.php, then modding the files to use it & finally regenerating your thumbnails.
2. Assuming the featured image are all the same heights, each post should be the same height but if you need it exact you’d have to create css for each viewport to set the height on each column.
3. Add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel:

I think there is a big problem going on. My sites keep waiting to load 0.gravatar.com and 1.gravatar.com and so on and nothing is loaded in the theme. Do you think gravatar.com has gone down or the theme is doing something funny?

i disabled using gravatars in discussion options. that fixed the slow loading time if you are interested.

Hey group1201! Unfortunately there’s no PSD’s included because there’s no images used in the design elements. If you needed a PSD for mocking up, a screenshot would be almost as useful.
I took a long time to look for a decent portfolio theme and I thought I found a great one in this. BUT, when using the “portfolio” section with anything but the default permalink (read: Ugly), it won’t work. I have a ticket but it’s taking forever.
This seems to be an issue with this theme from what I’ve read. I’ll reserve my rating until they can fix this issue.

I’m not sure what you have read, but on a proper setup you can use any permalink structure you like just as in the live demo. I apologize you feel the ticket is taking a while – If you can supply me your ticket # I’ll gladly look into your issue asap!

The theme only works with the “default” permalinks, anything else gets a 404, and the default is NOT what anyone wants.
Other than that It’s a great looking theme!

Hey again – checking your site I can indeed see the height being set to 370 as you defined in the css for mobile – if you feel that it’s not enough, have you tried simply upping the value to something greater?
