Thank you for the amazing Salient theme!
I am working on a responsive mobile oriented site and I would love to adjust the portfolio to be centered & responsive. In other words, the wider the screen the more projects are shown shown – the narrower the screen, the fewer projects are shown.

Unfortunately this isn’t possible at the moment because the portfolio layout uses the plugin isotope to calculate the layout & all of the items are actually positioned absolutely.

I found a weird bug on my home page. When I click, “watch video” on certain portfolio items such as, “LA Pro Product Line Launch Video Series”, it leads to a pop up of a very small video player and half an image below it. I can’t seem to figure out why. Could you please help me with this?

I’m having a problem with the Nectar Shortcodes drop-down menu. The list is longer than my window. When I try scrolling down, the minute I hit the scroll bar, the list closes. I can’t get the list to stay open long enough for me to scroll down to see what the other options are. Social Buttons is as far as it will go. Why don’t you make this a mega menu so people don’t have to scroll down so far? Or do you have another solution? Thanks!

I handle the page builder elements via a megamenu like structure so this isn’t an issue. However in regards to the shortcode list – Are you using Chrome or Firefox? If so just scroll with your mouse/trackpad so you’re not clicking something else which will cause the close. ( Make sure your cursor is positioned off the select list when scrolling and it should work )

Hi. I’m on Safari. I have tried scrolling with both my trackpad and my mouse, and neither one works. When I get to the end of the list, it doesn’t move up to reveal the rest of the list. My only apparent option is to use the scrollbar in my browser window, but when I click on it, the list closes. I’ve tried this on Foxfire as well, and it works the same way. This is a major, major flaw. I need help. I have suggested using a megamenu so that scrolling isn’t necessary. Is there anything wrong with that idea? Or, you could add a scrollbar to your drop-down menu, which I would think would be more work. Apparently, there’s nothing I can do on my end. Will you please help me and the rest of us Safari-Chrome-Foxfire users? Thanks!

Weirdly enough there’s been no reports of this. When I just checked again it was Firefox / Chrome on PC so if you’re on Mac I suppose there’s a chance it’s different. There’s nothing wrong with the idea of using a mega menu – however, to help immediately the options that you’re unable to see due to this issue are all available via the page builder as well (visual composer button). If you don’t want to use the page builder for whatever reason another alternative would be to simply zoom out in the browser (ctrl – on PC and cmd – for Mac) to reveal the bottom of the list.

You know, zooming out did cross my mind, but I didn’t try it for some reason. Visual Composer seems to be the best solution. So all the Shortcodes are on the Visual Composer? I’ve never used it before, but I will now. Thanks!

As I get more into the theme, I’m realizing that all the drop-down lists have the same problem: they’re really, really long, and when you get to the bottom of your screen and try to scroll down, they close. I have tried zooming out, but some of the lists are so long, that doesn’t work. It would be so easy if you would just make them megamenus. Please, please do this. Otherwise, I can’t use your drop-downs, which means I’m handicapped as far as functionality.
Hey – can you please just name one specific dropdown list that has this issue? I’ve gone through the back end on my Mac in Firefox/Chrome/Safari and can not replicate this so far.
Initially I noticed it on the Nectar Shortcodes list. Then I noticed it again when I was working with the Text with Icon Element, in choosing an icon, the list of icons was incredibly long. Why is it that on other programs, when you move your cursor down the list and you hit what looks like the bottom, the list will continue to scroll on its own until you get to the actual end. On your lists, when you get to what looks like the bottom, it just stops, even though there are additional items further down. I suggested doing a megamenu; but if you could also set up an automatic scroll, like the one I described above, that would be good, too. Anyhow, thanks for whatever help you can offer.
So strange that I’m able to scroll normally on my Mac in all tests with that – I have an idea for a quickfix for you though. It would only take a line of css to set a max height on the drop which would add a regular browser scrollbar. Do you want to open a ticket with your admin credentials so I can apply this for you?

Maybe, maybe not. I’m on version 10.6.8. You may be on a later version. At any rate, I’m almost done with the web site, so the point is becoming moot. I do appreciate your help, though. So far, I’ve been able to work around the drop-downs. If I hit an impasse, I’ll let you know. Thanks!

Hey mobilesuccess, it sounds like your server could be running out of memory. I would try getting in touch with your hosting company to confirm and increase the limit if that’s the case.
Table Press not working well in the responsive version of the theme?
Are there any features to display text in table format that you have in Salient?

there’s actually no video involved. The background is indeed parallaxed based on mouse position (which isn’t a standard feature of Salient) and the hand animation is actually an image sequence that uses JS to switch between each: http://cf.squarespace.com/details/chef-hand-sequence-hires.png

It would honestly take a good amount of custom development since nothing is in place for those effects at all. I’ve noted the idea of parallaxing based on mouse movement for the wishlist though

Hi, Theme is great but I’m having an issue on safari on iphone where the menu icon doesn’t work. I’ve tried adding z-index to the button as it’s absolutely positioned and even increased the font size but nothing seems to be working. There are no js errors when viewed on desktop but can’t tell if any are happening on iphone in safari. It works fine in chrome on iphone though. has any body else had this problem and more importantly does any body know a solution?

I haven’t heard reports of this & just tested on safari on an iPad mini & iPhone 5 as was able to click the icon normally via the demo. Do you experience the same behavior on there? Also please let me know what version of the iPhone you have.

I’m not having the same error on ipad, it’s just on the iphone 5. I’ve tried switching of option in control panel for the header but still nothing. I do have some custom css in the general settings as well but I’ve removed it and tested but still no luck.
And are you experiencing the same issue via the demo? I’m checking on my iPhone5 and can freely open/close the nav. Also please let me know if it’s only occurring on a specific browser as I’ve only checked the default for this so far.

Hi, Awesome theme.
After having a quick look at Salient I saw that each time the page is refreshed it generates new page id’s. Why is this?
I would like to use a tooltip presentation which has a jquery selector but if the element id’s keep changing this could never work.
Is there an option to stop id from refreshing?

new ID’s on rows are generate each page load for unique javascript events – if you need to target a row specifically for your own event or styling purposes simply add a class name to it

We’ve been playing around with your theme for a few days and we are really impressed by this impressive work.
The only issue we fail to solve is related to the mansonry portfolio layout and media queries. Though we kept Salient’s dummy layout and that our all thumbnails are in the correct sizes, we still get blank spaces at certain screen definitions (which you never get in the demo). Any clue ? I’ll be happy to send you the link in a private message.

Blank spaces can occur if you have your items ordered in a way that won’t allow for a seamless layout – i.e. too many wide/tall items sequentially. You can use a plugin like this http://wordpress.org/plugins/intuitive-custom-post-order/ to easily change the order of your items and move more regular sized items between those to clear the spaces. If you are still having issues with this please do share your URL via a private ticket on the support forum and paste your ticket id here

I do love a few dynamic automated services, would be awesome to have Instagram get pulled into my homepage and ultimately 500px, dribble etc, possible?

Hi there! I have taken an extensive look in your theme and your video tutorials, all I have to say is GREAT WORK! I am 2 steps away from buying Salient, but first I have to ask some questions.
Does your theme fully support Greek charactes? Is there any fixed text that can’t be changed? How easy it is to add side bars with a different menu (from the top one) and add some widgets in them like a facebook likebox or promotional banners/videos?
I want to use your theme to promote (but not sell) products and have thought to use the portfolio feature for that. Can I choose the display order of the items, hide the dates and create subcategories? Finally, I thought of using the shop for the promotion of products, but in the live demo I couldn’t find the product categories (as you only sell shirts) and I don’t know if it is possible to disable the “add to cart” button. I have many different categories AND subcategories of products so I don’t want all of them together.

1. Yes, and also a lot of google fonts you can activate in the theme support those characters too
2. No, everything shown on the demo is just an example and you’re free to create your content however you need it.
3. You can easily choose the sidebar page layout and then use any widgets you like in there including a menu widget & any third party extensions you need.
4. You could actually get away with using WooCommerce for this and simply hide all the add to cart buttons with css to make a catalog only – however if you wan to use the portfolio post type you can order your projects using a plugin like this http://wordpress.org/plugins/intuitive-custom-post-order/ & hide the dates with css & there yes you can have sub categories.

I really like your theme. I would like you to help me solve a problem.
When added to the cart at the top right box appears with a “basket” and the number of units you wear added to the cart.
I would change the “basket” for the car you have in the configuration tabs. Where it says “WooCommerce Options”
I tried replacing the class:
icon-salient-cart
by:
icon-shopping-cart
in file functions.php line 2298
but the icon persists and does not leave any
I’ve also tried replacing the number in the class icon
content: ”\e012”
by:
content: ”\f07a”
But I guess it must be more complicated because I have not gotten so

I recently upgraded and replaced “home slider” for “Nectar Slider”. I changed page attributes and selected “default” and the slider works perfect. The problem is that I had a sample of my portfolio in home page (home-recent works) and now, with néctar slider I can’t see recent works in home page.
