Hello, just bought the theme.
Is there:
a) a ways for the featured image on the front page to change to the featured image of the podcast shown instead of having to manually change it?
b) Can you stop podcast entries appearing in the blog page?
Thank you in advance.
Thanks for your purchase!
To your questions: a) At the moment no, but it sounds like a good idea. Might be considered in an update. b) Yes, go to Theme Options > Podcast Settings > Podcast Display in Blog. Check or uncheck the box depending on what you want to do.
I hope this answers your questions!
Thank you – I have tried checking and unchecking the box and it makes no difference – the podcast appears in the blog.
http://gamesbritannia.com/blog/Are you using any other plugins or did you make any customizations? If you would like me to take a closer look, please make a dummy account for me and send the login info to support@themestation.net
Thanks, done.
Have created and sent the account -have you managed to look please?
Solved. The reason the posts weren’t being hidden was because you hadn’t selected a Podcast Archive Category under Theme Settings > Podcast Settings > Podcast Archive. Did it for you and it’s working now.
Thank you
If I enable this in a multisite, would I be able to display blog posts from another wordpress blog in the multisite network? Or would it only display blog posts from the wordpress blog the theme is enabled on?
Podcaster does not handle getting and displaying posts from other blogs within a multisite. Would you be using a plugin to get this done or?
Just curious! It’s not of importance, there just won’t be a blog associated with the podcast page. Will be purchasing now!
Okay, thanks!
Can this theme be customized? How are we to change the color schemes, for instance? The Customizer is a little scarce of techniques built in for such customization.
Podcaster comes with two color themes, light and dark. On top of that you can set a highlight color with the colorpicker. Any other color related customizations can be done manually via the child theme. I hope that answers your question
Hi,
Is there a way to remove the Blog or just hide it temporarily. I want to focus on producing podcasts first. I don’t think I’ll have time to maintain a blog as well.
Thanks.
Did you already create a front page? Are you using a plugin with the theme or not? Either way, in order to hide the blog, all you have to remove the blog link if you added one to the menu and delete the page you created for the blog. I hope that helps!
Hm, not really. On the “Front Page” template, there’s a “From the Blog, then a “Go To Blog button” that is appearing and I’m not sure how to hide it. I don’t have a blog page in the menu or a separate page for a blog. Does that make sense?
You will have to use some css to hide it. That is the only way to go at the moment. Simply add .fromtheblog.list { display:none; }
to your css file. Make sure to use your child theme so your customization is not overwritten during the next update. I hope that helps
not sure what you mean by child theme, but I was able to cover it, thanks.
Few more questions -
1. What’s the header size of the top bar where the Logo/Menu is? I don’t like the default grey/black that its at right now
2. For the other pages, is there a way to get rid of the full width? I want the sides pushed in.
Thanks
1. If you wish to override the color of the header, you can use css. Either way, the size of the header depends on your screen resolution since this theme is responsive.
2. Pages have three templates, sidebar left, sidebar right and full width. If you don’t want to use the full width setting, you can always choose a different page template.
Please note that we don’t offer theme customizations at this point. I hope this answers your questions.
Is this theme compatible with the BlrBrry podcast plugin?
Support for BlrBrry might be added in the future, but unfortunately it isn’t compatible at the moment.
I did download and install your updated shortcode plugin (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/170175669/plugins/thst-shortcodes.zip), however, I am still not seeing the shortcode button. Could you send a text list of the shortcodes to see if those work without using a button to generate them? Let me know if you have other suggestions….
It appears to be working now. Thank you!
How do I know which shortcodes to use? There is no button or guiding feature on any of the pages or posts.
Please use this updated version. It will be added to the main theme with the next update. Sorry for the trouble

If you are new to podcasting, I don’t recommend this theme. It looks nice, however it is not as intuitive as other themes I have used for a lot less money. I emailed for support over a week ago and have yet to receive a response. I do feel like I am out 40.00 and will have nothing to show for it.
Some more detailed tutorials would be nice
Sorry to hear that you are having issues with getting the theme to run. We have a detailed documentation (http://themestation.co/documentation/podcaster/) as well as a video that demonstrates how to set up the front page (http://vimeo.com/90675325). What exactly are you having trouble setting up, maybe I can try provide more exact instructions. Unfortunately as of now, our support does not cover installations or setup of themes, but we’re always happy to help with other issues.
3 things I am really struggling with,
1. How do I get a podcast onto the front page in the Featured podcast spot. 2.How can the recent podcasts with photos be shown below the featured podcast(like the demo) 3. How do I assign thumbnails to podcasts. On my archive page it displays with a blank square box.
Sorry, I know thats a lot but I feel like that would get me going in the right direction
Okay, here are the answers to your questions. I hope it helps
1. You must file all your podcast posts under one category. You can name it whatever you like. After you’ve done that, go to the Theme Options (Theme Options > Podcast Setting > Podcast Archive) and choose the category you created for your podcast entries. The most recent post you make and file under your podcast category will automatically be displayed there.
2. This is answered above. As soon as you set your podcast category, all posts you file there will be displayed on the front page below the featured post.
3. Thumbnails are set with the use of the Featured Image feature in WP. Simply upload an image and it will be displayed as a thumbnail. Make sure the thumbnails are all the same size. You can read more about this in the documentation.
I hope these questions can get you started and I’m sorry about the documentation not being detailed enough. I’ll think about adding more to it
I’m using Libsyn as my hosting provider. When I try to paste my audio file’s URL into the Audio URL field, the player does not show on the front end. Do you know what’s going on here? Thanks in advance.
Sorry to hear you are having issues with getting the player to work. Does the file you are using end in *.mp3? If yes, are you running any plugins that might be conflicting with the theme? The plugin “Audio Player” is known for causing conflicts. Podcaster supports the native WordPress audio and video players and does not need any other plugins to play audio files. If the issue still persists please drop a comment. We’re happy to help
Yes, it is an .mp3. Looking at it again there was a weird file extension on the podcast before so that must have been the issue. All is working now. Thank you!
Hi there!
Does your Theme Station Shortcodes work with WordPress 3.9? I ask because short code button disappeared. We work on your latest theme update. Can you check this out? Regards
We’re working on the update. Will be released later today. Thanks for the feedback!
Download the fixed version of the Theme Station Shortcodes: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/170175669/plugins/thst-shortcodes.zip
Hi,
I’ve bought this theme and it’s really cool. I just have one question:
I’m using seriously simple podcasting, but when I use the “Add New” feature from menu it doesn’t show on my home page. My posts only appear on my home page when I add them via normal blog posts. I’m doing something wrong?
You’re not doing anything wrong. Will be fixed in the next update. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the feedback!
Cool, thanks! I’m waiting for the new release to start publishing my podcast episodes, do you have a publish date for it?
Friday (25th April) Thanks for your patience.
Didn’t saw any modification on the changelog. Is the new version ready yet?
We’re a bit behind with the update, but sit tight it will be out soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.
More than a week passed and no news about the new version.
Do you guys have at least a new release date?
The update was released some days ago. You should have received an email from themeforest.
As the changelog wasn’t updated so I thought the theme was not updated as well. I Didn’t received anything from them until now but I’ll download the theme again. Thanks!
That was a mistake on my part. Completely overlooked it, sorry
Will be updated immediately.
Hi,
Great theme, it’s just perfect for our customer. However he’s not keen on how dark the sub page header images become. We can’t seem to find a filter in the css that controls this. Is there something we could do to not have the sub page banners darken?
Lovely theme though, apart from that minor thing it seems almost made for what we needed it for
Thanks,
Sara @ Pixelbox
The settings for the header images can be set on line 2837
.page .reg .content_page_thumb .transparent { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.65); }
Adjust the 0.65 and go higher for darker and lower for lighter transparency.
Hi,
I bought your theme and it’s pretty slick, I like it a lot.
One thing you might consider in the future is having an option where you can turn off the RSS features – I already use Blubrry Powerpress to make my RSS file for iTunes and other services, and installing this theme broke the RSS feed for my podcasts. It actually ended up appending a duplicate feed to the end of my existing feed. To solve the problem I had to move thst-podcast.php and feed-podcast.php out of the theme directory.
Otherwise, great theme. Thanks!
Thanks for this feedback! Will be included in an update!
Hi, I just purchased your theme and had a question. Is SoundCloud suppose to create its own player or should it generate your player once it is embedded? Because mine is generating the Huge SoundCloud player that is basically covering up the header. Also, I belong to a group of over 800 podcasters and I can tell you that Libsyn is used by a lot of top podcasters. If you are serious about attracting more podcasters to your theme, you really need to add that asap. I can tell you that your theme is being discussed in our forum group. You hit a niche market where there very few people who are designing wp themes specifically for podcasters and there is a need. I can give you some great info if you want to discuss further outside of here. Let me know.
Thanks for the purchase! As of now, Podcaster only supports SoundCloud embeds, so yeah what you get is the standard player.
Thanks for the info about podcasting. I would love to further discuss this, so if you could give me a contact email or something that would be nice. I have a couple of questions.
Hi – considering purchasing this great theme – just wondering if you know how it would work with LibSyn (where my podcast feed and audio is currently hosted) – I know I can publish my podcasts to Wordpress from LibSyn but wondered if it would use your audio player (in the screenshots) or if I would have to use LibSyn’s audio players embedded (which aren’t as nice).
Sorry if it’s a dumb question!
Thanks for showing interest in Podcaster!
This theme has two ways of embedding your files. oEmbed, which displays the player of the service you are using. (SoundCloud for example) Please check here to see if Libsyn is amongst them before purchasing. https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds#Okay.2C_So_What_Sites_Can_I_Embed_From.3F
Or the raw audio file. If Libsyn gives you access to the URL of your file (example.com/.../file.mp3) then you can past it when posting your entries. This will display the native audio player as seen in the demo.
I hope this helps
Hi many thanks for your reply – Libsyn doesn’t appear to be in that embed list…they do however have a plugin for publishing direct to WP (http://support.libsyn.com/faqs/wordpress-onpublish/) – sounds like that would work? Although it seems like I wouldn’t be able to use your theme’s native audio player, which is a shame!!
Also, I was concerned that using the raw audio file would mean that I would lose the current RSS feed meaning listeners would have to re-subscribe?
Really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks
As of now, Podcaster doesn’t support the method Libsyn recommends so you’d be using it at your own risk I have to say. I’ll take a closer look at this and see how I can support Libsyn to work with the theme in future, though.
Podcaster does create a RSS feed for your audio files (it is iTunes compatible, too) but yeah, listeners would have to re-subscribe unfortunately.
I have some questions to ask before buying.
- You say there must be a single podcast category. But what if I have subcategories bellow that one?
- Do you (or theme forest) has a refund policy? For the case the theme does not fit my needs. — Or a testing period.
Thanks for considering Podcaster!
Question 1: Subcategories are fine. Question 2: Everything about the Envato return policy can be found here: http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/256/55/can-i-get-a-refund-for-an-item-i-have-purchased
I hope this answers your questions
I am having trouble with my theme. I cannot get the audio player to show up on the home page, nor are the blog posts showing up at the bottom. Additionally, under Archives, there is no header with player as in the screenshots.
Please help me with this. The site is wanderpodcast.com. My audio is hosted on Blubrry, and I’ve published my first post. But the header is not updating to show the player, just a link to the latest blog post.
I couldn’t find any walkthroughs or documentation to troubleshoot this myself. I’m really looking forward to using this theme, I think it’s got some great and unique features. Thanks
Thanks for purchasing Podcaster first of all! I’m glad you like it
To your first question, when posting your audio post, make sure you paste the URL to your audio file in the meta box below the main window. You’ll find a box called “Featured Audio”. If you post the audio file into the main window instead of into the “Featured Audio” box there will be no player.
When you created a front page, did you create a blog page as well?
I don’t have a page called “Blog”, it’s called Archives. It’s set in WP to be my posts page. Is the Blog separate from the Podcast page (Archives)?
The above resolved it. I was attaching the audio to the blog post using PowerPress plugin, but the two weren’t interacting (not sure what made my brain think they would be). Once I removed it from PowerPress and pasted into Featured Audio, that resolved it.
Thanks for the reply. The archive page you created is perfectly fine as a posts page, I just wasn’t aware of what you had called it. As for why there aren’t any posts appearing below the player on the front page: you will have to add more posts in general. At the moment you only have one post, and it’s already being displayed there.
The archive page does not come with a header with a player. Only the front page has that feature. And the single pages of course.
Btw, you can also create a library or archive page for your podcasts, that would look more like this: http://demo.themestation.net/podcaster/podcast-archive/ That way you can keep your posts page for news, announcements and other non-media related posts. But that is entirely up to you of course!
I hope this helps resolve the issues you had. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Does this theme output a feed that is compatible with submitting to iTunes podcast? I would assume so based on the name of the theme, but I don’t see anything in the description that confirms this. Thank you for the feedback.
At the moment you’d need to get a plugin such as Seriously Simple Podcasting, which is free and fully supported by Podcaster, in order to get an iTunes compatible RSS feed. But we’re working on it, as this is a really useful feature.
Thanks for showing interest in Podcaster
Thanks for the reply! Before I buy, I have two more quick questions: 1) Is it possibly to have multiple ‘podcast’ categories? (E.g., podcast type 1, podcast type 2, etc) 2) Can youtube / vimeo be embedded in a podcast like soundcloud? Thank you!
To your first question: unfortunately not. To your second question: yes, youtube and vimeo are supported as embeds
The audio player doesn’t work (at least on Chrome for Mac) by trying to handle the position/time bar. I think the audio player is the most important thing in a template like this.
Great theme, anyway.
Hi there! When you say “trying to handle the position/time bar”, what exactly do you mean? Podcaster works with the native WordPress audio player. And by default the little time display tool tip cannot be dragged along the progress bar before pressing play. Only afterwards. This is not something native to this theme, but to WordPress itself. When you press play you can move it to any position of the audio progrss bar you want. Maybe that is what you were trying to do? Did you have any problems with playing the audio itself?
Thanks for the feedback!
Hello! Sorry for the delay.
Exactly, I mean the option to drag/move the audio to any position of the progress bar. Using Chrome for Mac seems to be not possible, and it would be perfect!
Thank you so much for answering!
Yes, you can drag and drop to any point of the audio, but only as soon as you press play letting the audio file load. Before doing that it won’t work.
Hello, I bought and installed Podcaster on my new multisite Wordpress but for some reason audio file cannot be played because there is no player. Can you suggest what to do?
Hi there! Thanks for the purchase
Did you choose the format “Audio” when posting?
Did the embed work when you were in the back-end? If yes, the Soundcloud player is supposed to appear below the main text area.
No I just tried one more time to change to embed code and still nothing on page and in the main text area.
Okay it seems like the embed code is the problem here. If you like you could post the embed code here or make me a test account so I can come and have a closer look. Use support@themestation.net as the email if you would like me to log in over there.
