Hello there, nice theme, i’m gonna have a lot of fun with it! I’m doing a website in french and ponctuation isn’t properly displaying. I know it is font version issue, do u have a quick fix for that? Thanks for your great worki Jay
Thanks Jay!
What font do you currently have selected? If you’re using the default fonts (i.e. have your “Use Custom Fonts” off) – you just need to check the box for “Load Ext. Characters in Default Font” in the typograhy options tab
Cheers
Hi gang,
Firstly, I love your theme. It’s been the simple to learn, use and ultra reliable.
However, I’ve just updated from Version: 2.6.5 to Version: 4.0.3 and it’s causing a massive line of code on line 65?.
It states: Unexpected CSS Token: ! important. To see the source code, the URL is: www.biztrain.com.au
When I say massive, it’s about 12 times larger than the sample block, below:
<style type="text/css"> body a{color:#28c4d6;}header#top nav ul li a:hover,header#top nav .sf-menu li.sfHover > a,header#top nav .sf-menu li.current-menu-item > a,header#top nav .sf-menu li.current_page_item > a .sf-sub-indicator i,header#top nav .sf-menu li.current_page_ancestor > a .sf-sub-indicator i,header#top nav ul li a:hover,header#top nav .sf-menu li.sfHover > a,header#top nav .sf-menu li.current_page_ancestor > a,header#top nav .sf-menu li.current-menu-ancestor > a,header#top nav .sf-menu li.current_page_item > a,body header#top nav .sf-menu li.current_page_item > a .sf-sub-indicator [class^="icon-"],header#top nav .sf-menu li.current_page_ancestor > a .sf-sub-indicator [class^="icon-"],header#top nav .sf-menu li.current-menu-ancestor > a,header#top nav .sf-menu li.current_page_item > a,.sf-menu li ul li.sfHover > a .sf-sub-indicator [class^="icon-"],ul.sf-menu > li > a:hover > .sf-sub-indicator i,ul.sf-menu > li > a:active > .sf-sub-indicator i,ul.sf-menu > li.sfHover > a > .sf-sub-indicator i,.sf-menu ul li.current_page_item > a,.sf-menu ul li.current-menu-ancestor > a,.sf-menu ul li.current_page_ancestor > a,.sf-menu ul a:focus,.sf-menu ul a:hover,.sf-menu ul a:active,.sf-menu ul li:hover > a,.sf-menu ul li.sfHover
Hoping you can please assist.
Many thanks,
Russ
Sorry, the page crashes too, using Safari. The old these resolves the issue. It could have been something I’ve done, perhaps? Sorry to be a nuisance. Thanks, Russ
Hey Russ! The css you’re referring to is the same css (the dynamic theme styles) that have always been in Salient, however in 4.0+ they’re now minified to save as much space as possible/load faster – anyway you can update back to 4.0 so I can see the crashing issue? I can’t replicate this via the demo or locally on Safari.
Cheers
Thanks mate, you’re a legend. I’m installing 4.0 again now, will have it up in 5 mins. You’re right about the css, sorry I’m a tech idiot
Hi again, I’ve just reinstalled 4.0 for you to review. It’s now live for inspection.
It has crashed multiple times today on both my iPhone and Mac. Took forever to load, then crashed. I have tried numerous times reinstalling 4.0, but still the same issue.
Thank you so much for your assistance – 4.0 looks so much cleaner. I hope you can help me to get it working correctly. I’m lost.
Thanks again, sincerely!
Kind regards, Russ
Hi,
It just crashed again upon reinstall. To try to assist, a snippet of the Error Code Safari gave was:

Hey Russ!
Is there a specific thing you can do to make the crash occur? I tried to replicate on Mac (using v7) & PC (using v5.1.7) and couldn’t cause a crash so far. Do you also experience this behavior or the live demo?
Cheers!
Hey, thanks for responding. You wouldn’t believe it, it’s not throwing errors today! I’ve tried several times today, but it’s all good, which is a terrific thing
When it was throwing out errors, it would just happen. Nothing in particular forced a crash. The demo was fine, so perhaps it was a server issue. Maybe my host was doing some end of month work perhaps? I’m not really sure.
I know you’re busy, so I’ll touch base again if it happens again, otherwise I’ll leave you the heck alone. MANY THANKS for your assistance though, you’re an outstanding company!
Kind regards, Russ
Thanks a lot Russ! That’s great news – hopefully things remain stable on your end
Cheers!
OK, its a weird one… Using the visual Composer when I edit a component with text, ie a Text Block, it is white text on a white background. To edit things I’m now using the Text tab,,, What did I screw up… I’ve been looking for a while…
Thanks for your help.
Hey Steve! This was an issue that WP 3.9 caused that was resolved in Salient 4.0.3 – just update to get the fix
Hello, Thanks for help all the time! Can we download the demo version, instead of default version? II saw a website in progress which has exactly same structure and all function as demo. I feel like he/she started the site from the demo version.
This time, I’m trying to set up Portfolio > Portfolio Column > Portfolio Style Three, but cannot find instruction in either PDF, or Youtube video. Need Help!
(I feel guilty asking and bother you all the time. That’s why if there is the demo version I can download so I can see the set up for each function.)
Hey cormane!
There’s two sets of dummy data for you to import included with the theme which include the entire live demo’s – There’s also a tutorial showing how to import, have you checked that out?
Cheers
Oh….You are awesome! you save my life
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
You’re very welcome
hi, how do you achieve the Frostwave example homepage settings please?
1) how do you make the header transparent but also show the logo? 2) how do you make the header get narrower on scrolling and turn white? 3) what is the full list of the other elements used on the Frostwave example home page in order?
Thanks
Hey JimmyFrye,
The dummy data xml & the theme options import code is included for both demos in your download from ThemeForest
1. Activate the “Use Transparent Header When Applicable?” option in your header options tab
2. This is the standard behavior of that option when activated – just make sure you also have the “Header Resize On Scroll” option active
3.
Nectar Slider
Row with columns containing Text with icon elements
Image Gallery Element
Full width content rows contain various text/elements
Row with BG video
Here’s a tutorial covering the full width content columns
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpJWWM4BAbo
Cheers
Hi. I really like yout theme but and the given possibilities. I have a question. Is it possible to set the header complete transparent so that it does’nt change to white (or any other color)? And is it also pssible to give a fix size to the header so that it doesn’t change to a smaller one when scrolling down?
Thank You.
Tim
Hey Tim!
Both of these items would be possible through css – if you need help just let me know and I’ll provide the snippets
Cheers
Hi there I am trying to work with translating the theme, is there anyway to just give a step by step explanation of how to? I am sure it could benefit a lot of the people besides myself since this is a bit more advanced than the standard stuff
Hey shiver1001,
There’s a bunch of tutorials out there for translating – here’s one focusing on the free translation plugin I recommend using: http://alefba.us/localize-wordpress-themes-plugins-codestyling-localization
The only thing you need to make sure of is that you renamed the files inside of wp-content/themes/salient/lang to your own language code as you have defined in wp-config.php (they come named as “default.po” and “default.mo”)
Cheers
Hey, Any news on the options to place a comma or a point in the milestone shortcode?
Hey lupach,
It’s possible it might make it in as an option, but for now this would still currently take custom development
Cheers
Hi, is it possible to place the header below the first page slider.. like -> http://www.webdingo.net/zoo/
thx chris
Hey Chris,
that is currently not a feature and would require some custom development.
Cheers
I’ve posted this in support but perhaps some kind soul might be able to help me here too!
I’ve successfuly created a child theme and modified some elements to match my content.
I’m struggling to override text. I want certain text on the homepage, specifically h2 and p tags, to have a particular size. I’ve tried adding a class of hometext to the text container in the nectar element textbox, then creating a rule like .hometext h2 {font-size: 40px!important;} but that didn’t work. I tried using the text editor to manually create an h2 with the class .hometext, eg
Test Title
and then in the child style.css added h2.hometext {font-size:40px!important;} but this also didn’t work. In firebug my classes are being applied, but the rules panel doesn’t show my newly created, overriding styles. I am able to override other elements in the child style.css though, for example I modified the opacity of the transparent header and made the mobile header white instead of black!So am I missing something obvious?
Thanks,
James
Hey James! Anyway you can share your URL so I can see why the rules are not working? You can indeed modify what you’re trying to through a child theme so something else must be at play.
Cheers
Web developer customizing this site for a client.
I am using Contact Form 7 and would like for someone to explain the coding used on the first form on http://dev.geniusity.com/rank_salient/ that allows form fields to sit side by side AND stack when browser widow shrinks. Been struggling with this for about a week now.
Thanks
Hey resolutestudios,
When creating your form, just wrap your inputs in columns like this:
<div class="col span_4"> FORM INPUT HERE </div> <div class="col span_4"> FORM INPUT HERE </div> <div class="col span_4 col_last"> FORM INPUT HERE </div>
Cheers
Really sorry for all the questions again, stupidly something has gone wrong with the inline-hr work you did earlier, please could you log back in and check it for me.
Sorry again Rich
Just did
Cheers
Can you target different nectar header title sizes on different slides?
I’m using this on the homepage:
.swiper-slide .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 50px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
But say on the services page I want the title to be a different size? How do I go about that please
Hey,
each slider offers the option to add a class to it which you could use to target it specifically
.swiper-slide.your-custom-class .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 50px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
ok added this:
.swiper-slide.services .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 30px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
And then added:
swiper-slide.servicesin the extra class of the specific nectar slide, but it’s not doing anything?
All you would need to add into the extra class for the slide would be
services
hmm odd, done that not doing anything?
I just logged in and actually added the class to the home page slide (there was nothing inputted for that slide) and now the work is applying, but it appears your font choices are not loading (“Futura PT”,’Helvetica Neue’) and it’s defaulting to arial for me, make sure you have those webfonts included in one way or another
Hiya, It’s not the home page slide bud, it’s the services slide titled ‘IT’S ABOUT A STORY’ the class of services was added in there, and it’s not doing anything for me at all.
I have added these 3 lines into custom css
.swiper-slide.home .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 80px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
.swiper-slide.services .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 20px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
.swiper-slide.work .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 20px; text-transform:none!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
And added, home, work, services etc in the extra class box in each slider, but it’s not doing anything for me – I must be doing something wrong – Sorry
R
My bad – but as I mentioned, I can see the snippet applying in the code (if you inspect the h2 with any live inspector you will see it working) but the issue is that Futura PT is not loading in – how are you including that font on your site?
That’s really weird I emptied my cache here as well, style changes not applying, strangely as well the font of Futura PT is fine for me, I’m using Adobe Typekit, and have the kit embedded in the header.php file… – can you check the page ‘Our Story’ the nectar headline font should be 20px (it isn’t on mine) (checked in Safari and Chrome) – sorry
Aslo looking at the code inspector, the styles for
body .nectar-slider-wrap[data-full-width="true"] .swiper-slide .content h2 {
font-size: 102px;
text-transform: uppercase !important;
letter-spacing: 0 !important;
line-height: 1 !important;
font-weight: 600 !important; }
seem to be overwriting the styles for (e.g. apart from the font they are crossed through on the services style)
.swiper-slide.services .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 20px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
How would I go about adding a small images over the top of a nectar slider, like this: http://focuslabllc.com/services you will see in the header in the centre there is a vertical line with a dot on the top (this is an image) I would like to do something similar
Rich
Hey Rich,
you’d have to add the image into the caption field on the slider and give it a class so you could center it and control the positioning specifically with css if needed
Morning, ok well I already have a caption does that matter?
something like this in the nectar caption box is showing up, but it appears above the buttons I have on the page, and is floating I need it to be flush at the bottom of the slider.
<img class="line" src="http://www.webteam.cornwall.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/line_ee.svg" alt="line_ee" width="5" height="200" />
If it needs to be flush at the bottom it unfortunately won’t work via the caption field – you could get it below the buttons by setting it to position absolute, but to get it to work exactly your example site it would need to be added outside the normal slider content container so it could attach itself to the bottom of the actual slide. This would require a mod to the functions.php where the slide gets processed. I would consider just adding that line into the actual BG image itself as a work around
If I add it as part of the BK image won’t that look awful when the site stretches?
interestingly position-absolute does push it to the bottom but arranges it left ?? Could you just take a quick look? http://www.webteam.cornwall.nhs.uk/services/
Likewise I may want to add an image to the top of a full width section as well, for instance I want a reverse line at the top of the section titled ‘On both Mobile & Desktop’ how would I go about this please?
Change your css snippet to this
.line {
box-sizing: content-box !important
-webkit-box-sizing: content-box !important
-moz-box-sizing: content-box !important;
margin-left: -90px !important;
padding-left: 50% !important;
position: absolute !important;
text-align: center !important;
}
How about not using the nectar slider could I add a large header image with headline, subhead line and line a different way
Yes, it would a lot easier through a standard row with the full width BG type, however you wouldn’t get the transparent nav if you wen that route
BTW The code snippet above makes the line disappear completely ?
Whoops – it’s just missing some semicolons
.line {
box-sizing: content-box !important;
-webkit-box-sizing: content-box !important;
-moz-box-sizing: content-box !important;
margin-left: -90px !important;
padding-left: 50% !important;
position: absolute !important;
text-align: center !important;
}
lol that’s ok bud I should have spotted that myself, world almost perfect although it’s not quite central seems to be just aligning left a little
I have fixed the centring
Just one last question re this, I want the line to be shorter than 300px but when I do this in th ecaption box with :
<img class="line" src="http://www.webteam.cornwall.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/line_ee.svg" alt="line_ee" width="10" height="200" />
The line then doesn’t sot flush with the bottom of the slide, do I need to alter the CSS at all?
.line {
box-sizing: content-box !important;
-webkit-box-sizing: content-box !important;
-moz-box-sizing: content-box !important;
margin-left: -5px !important;
padding-left: 50% !important;
position: absolute !important;
text-align: center !important;
}
since it’s absolutely positioned you could try messing with the bottom property (most likely will need a negative value)
Hi,
Where can i edit my posts layout? I want to be able to build the posts the same way as a page,
http://www.republicofmusic.com/out-now-ema-futures-void/Id like to remove the sidebar and feature image from all posts,
best,
also, it seems that when using the visual page builder, the captions of posts are read, check out the first post here – http://www.republicofmusic.com/blog/
Hey RepublicOfMusic,
1. There’s no option to do these items by default but add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel to sort it:
.single-post #sidebar {
display: none!important;
}
.single-post #post-area {
width: 100%!important;
margin-right: 0!important;
padding-right: 0!important;
}
.single-post .post-featured-img {
display: none!important;
}
2. If you’re going to use VC, it would be best to turn off the auto excerpt option and simply use the more tag in your editor to define where the excerpt should go – this should allow the text to go through
Ok cool, ill try this, however, i think this problem has steamed from the fact i cant work out how to change the portfolio title colour, only the background, and by changing the background changes it for the whole theme on other pages,
would it be possible to tell me where i can change the portfolio title colour, and the portfolio title background only?
thank for your time,
best,
when i say portfolio title, i only mean within the post, example here – http://www.republicofmusic.com/releases/latest-releases-28-04-14/
Sure
.project-title {
background-color: #000!important;
}
.project-title h1, body #portfolio-nav a i, body #portfolio-nav a i {
color: #fff!important;
}
perfect! working with this im nearly there! can i change the font of all the blog posts to white? and is it possible remove the heart icon, and the lines from each post? http://www.republicofmusic.com/out-now-ema-futures-void/
Add this in as well
.single-post, .single.single-post .section-title h1, .single-post p {
color: #fff!important;
}
.single #single-meta ul li:first-child {
display: none!important;
}
Cheers
perfect! thank you very much!
You’re very welcome
@New_Castle I had a similar issue, my problem was not the theme, I had selected the wrong layout options in the backend, you need to select the same type of layout and then move the text or image box to where you want them.
Hey 312Media! Thanks for helping out New_Castle
Dude you are like the most awesome theme developer and support guy ever, all I did was let the fella know what I did wrong. If it takes a little off your plate then i’m all for it.
Thanks so much! That means a lot
ThemeNecter, if you could help with Ticket: #199411 I would be very greatful. Its been a while and we havent been able to find a fix for this issue yet. Thanks in advance.
Sorry for the wait – i’ll check on it as soon as possible
Not a problem at all, I have reactivated the login for you, sorry for the delay.
Thanks!
Hi there,
first of all: Your Theme looks fantastic!
Before buying I’d like to ask a few questions:
1st. I can’t scroll on any demo page when I use the “Live Demo”. I have to grab the handle on the right site of the browser to scroll.
2nd: Since I am in Germany I’d like to ask if the Woocommerce shop can be extended by the German language plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-de/
and also with this one here: http://marketpress.com/product/woocommerce-german-market/
Thanks in advance and cheers from Hamburg!
Thanks Kenaudio!
1. You can disable the smooth scrolling option in the theme options to sort this
2. I can’t imagine why there would be any issue using that, but if you run into any bumps just let me know
Cheers
Okay! Thanks a lot and cheers from Hamburg!
You’re welcome
I’m trying to get some bottom padding or bottom margin on the recent blog posts title, have tried adding it here:
html .home .blog-recent .span_3 .post-header h3 a { color: #fff !important; font-size:28px !important; margin-bottom: 30px!important; }
But it’s not applying, have I done something wrong?
Hey,
set it on the h3 instead of the a inside of it:
.home .blog-recent .span_3 .post-header h3, .blog-recent .span_3 .post-header h3 {
margin-bottom: 30px!important;
}
Cheers
Hi Theme Nectar
How are you doing?
I have a question related to two things:
1. Fonts. Is helvetica a paid type of font, in order to use it do we need to pay for it?
2. Portfolio items on the home page. I changed the size of the portfolio item for the square one 600×600, (we have three portfolio items on a home page) through functions.php
but on some screen resolutions these portfolio items are still rectangular. How to make sure that the portfolio items are square on all screen resolutions and mobiles?
http://www.mmevelo.comThank you Martyna
My friend
there is one more thing: the about page. It lost its responsiveness. What can be the reason for it? The text is wrongly placed, and the photos are not touching the edges of the screen.
There is one man working on one page of the site(on my custom template, css and the two pages), he is writing the custom code for it. Is this possible that the code interfeered with the setting for the “about page”?
http://www.mmevelo.com/o-nas thanks! MartynaHi Theme Nectar
There is also a problem with the “text block” within the Visual composer elements. On the visual section of the text block, I see no text, and no edit options. What might be happening?
Thank you Martyna
Hi Hi
I have one more question. I hope you don’t mind. I am building a page on the same website, http://www.mmevelo.com/misja/ where the photos below the block of text need to be in two columns. the row with the photos should have more or less proportions of 1/6 + 2/6 + 2/6 + 1/6, where the photos are in the 2/6 parts. Close to each other, but with a small margin between.
I created this custom layout through Composer,
The question is, how to achieve this effect of two photos for a row, close to each other,(big photos, but on the page appearing small to fit 2/6 size, enlarged to its true size when a person clicks on them)?
Thank you so much Be well Martyna
Hey Martyna!
1. The helvetica listed in the font options won’t actually load the webfont but will usually default to sans serif unless helvetica is installed on the users PC – i’ve noted to change this to just “sans serif” in the next release to avoid confusion, if you want the true helvetica you would indeed need to purchase/include it separately.
2. I’m seeing the images being uploaded at 312×456 http://www.mmevelo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/4-zl-312-na-456.png if you’ve changed the size in the functions.php – have you also used the regenerate thumbnails plugin to recreate the images?
3. I am actually seeing the images still touch the edges of the screen and appear to behave how I would expect them in regards to responsiveness – are you still having this issue? If so could you perhaps provide an image showing what you’re seeing?
4. The latest update (4.0.3) fixed this problem – it was an issue caused by WP 3.9
5. Anyway you could allow me to log in so I can check on this for you to see why the columns are stacking?
Cheers
Hey Theme Nectar
Thank you for your responses , very helpful as always.
1. Thank you. We have changed it to Arial.
2. Yes, I have regenarted the thumbnails, but it still is like this.
3.I will send you the screenshoots through the support forum, ok?
4. Thank you
5. I will send you the login details through the support forum.
Best wishes Martyna
You’re very welcome!
I’ll be with you on the forum then
Thank you
No problem!
Hi. I tried to move my site to a test-server while in testmode. I changed the SiteURL etc. correctly, but images kept loading from the old address. Why is this?
Hey again,
When you change the domain of a WordPress site there’s a few steps involved – http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress also if want to mass update all URLs in the database, here’s a good snippet http://gilbert.pellegrom.me/moving-wordpress-useful-sql-queries/
Cheers
