hey, I encountered a strange problem. I finished building a site on my testserver and now wanted to build the page to go live. In my testinstallation I added the extra class “light” to headings and everything worked fine. Now, when I add any class in Texteditor somehow visual composer is adding backslashes and the class does not take affect. So:
<h2 class="light"> becomes <h2 class="\" light="">
</h2></h2>
Can you help me with this?
Hey!
Is there anyway you could supply me with a login so I can see this behavior for myself to get a better understanding why this would be? themenectar.ticksy.com

Thanks, will respond as soon as I can
Hi there!
I see in the Salient website that the Nectar Slider combines somehow with the header of a page, for example the Portfolio.
Where do I find that option so I can enable it?
Hey CecilioLanz!
The transparent header option was added in Salient v4.0

hey i have 2 questions: 1) do you have a recommendation for a plugin that works with the theme that lets me edit the font size in every element using VC?
2) I put a slider on my homepage and put a video on the slider as slide 3. In chrome, it works fine but when I open it up in Firefox, the video sound will play when the first slider loads and when the slider gets to slide 3, it starts to play the video again. So, my question has to do mostly with this: HOW DO I STOP THE VIDEO FROM AUTO PLAYING? CAN THERE BE A PLAY BUTTON?
Hey theljmusic,
1. Unfortunately i don’t have a plugin to recommend for this.
2. If you need a play button for the video it would be best to simply have one of the sliders buttons pop the video open in a lightbox – you can do this by simply pasting a youtube or vimeo url into them. You can then use the slide video BG with a muted video preview or just supply an image.

Hi mate,
Thank you again for the IE8 issue fixed. A quick question, is that possible to put a slogan in the second menu at the top. For now, I put it in the

Hey mate,
Also, another question is that how to apply different IE8 css to one particular page?
Best Regards Patrick
You’re welcome Patrick!
1. The way you have it is right as far as adding it to the file, it will just require some css that targets it in smaller screens/mobile views to adjust it.
2. The ie8 stylsheet is located in the css folder of the theme – to allow it to apply just to one page use the unqiue id body class that every page has e.g.
body.page-id-3 .some-selector { }
Hi mate,
So for the css for the slogan on the top of the website, what should I put to make it looks better on the mobile devices? (Now it has been aligned to left by manually set the margin-left of the slogan, what if I want it to be centered on a mobile?)
Thank you

Hi there…. again!!
As I finally start to populate my theme I’m left wondering if I might be managing my images wrongly and before I go too far I thought I should ask. Based on your theme, what is the best way to use post, gallery and page imagery?
I’ve worked out header, main content width and depths but when it comes to displaying my own content things get a little confused.
1) If im using Photoshop and optimizing for the web is there any point or harm in using SMUSH? 2) Whats a good size for blog images? I’m not talking about how big is a piece of string but a rough guide to compressing and an average dimension for a FEATURED IMAGE and an embedded image. 3) It strikes me that by constantly adding images to the media page it actually will get huge and quite tricky to navigate. Is there a better tool to be using? Does it slow down the page load or WP if you have huge numbers in there? 4) Should I be actually uploading images at all (sounds daft I know) or self hosting and just calling them up/pointing to them instead? Is there a more efficient way or is it just the way it works.
Anyway, Im just after a guide to using images (sizes, compression, format etc….) If you dont have the time to explain is there a good article on the matter that you can point me to?
Cheers as always Andy
Hey Andy!
1. There’s definitely no harm in using SMUSH, it’s just up to you if you wanna go through the extra step.
2. It depends on whether you have the ext. responsive design option active since that expands the content area by a couple hundred pixels, but i’d say around 800-1000px
3. It will indeed get large, but there’s no better to be using.
4. It’s really up to you – the only thing you’d lose by doing this are the image sizes WP creates for you when you upload an image into their system. I wouldn’t recommend keep the images in a separate location unless you really had a good reason to
Cheers
Brilliant as always, I just thought I should check before I start loading up and then being told I should have used a different method.
Great! Thank you
You’re very welcome

Simon Rees I think they’re a creative / webdesign agency. I put in an image search with all the text (http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=safari&rls=en...) and loads of hits came up for diiferent landing pages which appear to be example sites (full of latin and ‘logo’). They are using this to ‘show what they can do’? Thing is though there are loads of different design agencies, law firms, contractors and all sorts. They appear to have removed all the pictures now, but can’t get to the bottom of who the agency is ‘Salient’, ‘Red Lion Design’....(if it is an agency?) Don’t know if its any help, but all of the sights are copyrighted to the company heading the site rather than a common name tying them together. Good luck. Six about an hour ago · Like

Hey squeezenad,
That’s quite the lengthy post! From what I’m getting out of that it appears James Kendall is concerned about the use of this image? https://www.flickr.com/photos/thejameskendall/5458943664/ I found it on his flickr feed where he has the image marked as “Some Rights Reserved: You are free to: Share copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially.” It sounds like he may be unaware of that, but I have had an attribution link back to his page in the credits section at the bottom of the theme description page and the image is not actually a apart of or included within the template – it’s only used on the live demo for example purposes. Since I have no way of getting in touch with him, please let him know that and that I will remove if it he desires
Thanks
Hey joeltgraves, it’s on the wishlist but there’s no ETA yet.

Hola
There is an issue with portfolio? I am using last version of Salient en WP 3.9 but there is a black image as a preview.
Not sure what´s happening. Any help? Thx

Just activate the option for “Hide featured image/video on single project page”
Thx
And what´s the dimensions for an image in px to be full width content?
If you’re having the image extend to the browser edges than I would recommend a width of 1800px or greater
thx

Hey ThemeNectar!
First off…AMAZING theme. I’ve purchased and used my fair share of themes, and this is by far the most flexible and easiest to use theme to date. Great job! Also, thank you for taking the time to make those videos – they have been such a useful tool to work through some of the questions I have as I’m building my website.
Despite reading through comments, tickets, and watching the videos – I’m having trouble with the portfolio gallery. I’m using WordPress 3.8.2, and I have done everything explained in the “Setting up your portfolio” video (I want to achieve what you show at 4:05). The gallery seems to insert into my post fine. BUT…I don’t have an option under “Project Configuration” to check the “Gallery Slider” (even after I update the page). It’s simply not there! Any explanation? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help on this! Liz
Thanks Liz! That means a lot
The option for “gallery slider” was removed since it is now obsolete – the image gallery element in the page builder offers the same display as that plus a ton of other options and th flexibility to move it where you need in the page rather than being forced to keep it at the top.
Cheers!
Hey ThemeNectar,
Thanks for the quick response. I knew I had to be missing something!
All the best! Liz
No worries!
Cheers
Last question I hope – I want to display my portfolio with just 2 columns. Everytime I get the portfolio into the 2 columns I am left with a white gap on the right side even when I click full screen. Any Ideas?
Thanks for your help in advance!
By full screen I mean full width
Hey JoeKozak!
It would indeed take a CSS mod to go below 3 columns, but if you can share your URL to the portfolio I’d be glad to assist
Cheers
I thought that might be the case! Have you got a private email I can use to send it to you?
I’ve also noticed that the zoom on hover effect doesn’t seem to be working? It seems to just turn it from having a shadow to not having a shadow. Do you have any guidance on how to make the zoom on hover work perfectly?
Thanks again!

Hello,
Regarding the Archive widget in the footer, is there a way to limit the number of months that shows up under the Archive widget?
Basically, the drop-down menu is ugly, and the footer looks better with the actual text displayed in the footer. Since our blog goes back almost a year, the drop-down menu is basically required to prevent a huge footer.
Just like the Recent Posts footer widget has the option to reduce the number of recent posts, I am looking to do the same with the archive months.
For example, it is May 1st, if we could reduce the number of months to 4, then it would show Feb, Mar, Apr, May below the list. Better yet, it could say:
May, April, March, Feb, then have “Previous Months” (or some custom text)
I saw a suggestion a few months back about adding a custom plugin to modify the footer, but I try to limit the use of plugins and prefer your guys’ modifications. I also think it would look really nice if the archives matched the style of the recent posts widget with the thin horizontal rule between entries.
I really like how the new Recent Posts widget shows the date beneath the title. It looks great with the dark footer. Is there a way to do something similar with the Archive widget?
Thanks in advance for the awesome theme, support, and any help with my request!
Best,
Happy Salient User
Hey candlewall!
This could actually be achieved through a mod in the functions.php file – open that up and add this in :
function my_limit_archives( $args ) {
$args['limit'] = 6;
return $args;
}
add_filter( 'widget_archives_args', 'my_limit_archives' );
add_filter( 'widget_archives_dropdown_args', 'my_limit_archives' );
Cheers
Sorry where’s the full screen mode on the feature/slider image?
Hey Milo!
The option for it is located right in the Nectar Slider edit settings via the Visual Composer or shortcode view: http://i.imgur.com/0F69YvW.jpg
If you’re in VC, just make sure you have the full width option enabled for it to show
My nectar slider doesn’t look like your image screenshot… I don’t have those options…
Is there an email address I can have my client email you about this?
First make sure the row containing the nectar slider isn’t set to full width content – if it is just change that to full width background. If that doesn’t help shoot me an email at themenectar@gmail.com
hey there how to i make my menu react like http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-frostwave/
also when i make the menu transparent .. there seems to be a space between the top of the page and content of the page … how do i make that space = 0?
found the menu so never mind that question
header-space {
display: none!important; }
i have this CSS but i still see a spacing on mobile.
Hey Juniormc! Anyway you can share your URL so I can see the issue?
Are you able to add a button in the menu? ex. sign up button?
Hey tabishiqbal, yes but it would require adding it to the header.php file: http://themenectar.ticksy.com/ticket/78972/search/

On inside blog pages, eg: http://www.webteam.cornwall.nhs.uk/magna-fringilla-quis-condimentum-2/
Can the text have a large left and right margin eg bringing the text towards the centre of the page?
Can dates and comments tags be added under the headline?
Can the gravatar be moved up under the headline?
Sorry for all the questions…
Rich
Hey again,
#post-area {
margin: 0 100px!important;
}
The others would require modding the files themselves (inside includes/post-templates) to alter the ordering
Cheers
Cool ok, can i add the template page to the child theme?
I don’t think those would take given their nested in folders
Believe it or not they do I just added the nested folders to the child-theme :) have a look at: http://www.webteam.cornwall.nhs.uk/home-blog/ I changed the entry.php page and added a few more lines to include gravs :)
That’s good news!
Yeah isn’t it
could you possibly do 1 more thing for me this morning please mate? on this page: http://www.webteam.cornwall.nhs.uk/home-blog/ and on the entry.php page I have added a wrapper called meta-container and added some styling, unfortunately whatever I do it won’t make any changes to the webpage, essentially what I need to do is to make the comments, author, grav and date all the same size and the grav aligned middle – just a but stuck achieving this…
Also which class do I target to change the colour of the title and snippet for only the blog please?
Hey – the URL you’ve linked is still showing a blank page on my end but for your second question of targeting the title/snippet:
#post-area.span_12 article.post .post-header h2 a {
color: #f11b1b!important;
}
#post-area.span_12 article.post .content-inner p {
color: #f11b1b!important;
}
I haven’t changed the code yet to support what you told me earlier today, this page is still blank: http://www.webteam.cornwall.nhs.uk/author/ although strangely I haven’t even created an author page ??
That URL is actually not correct – it’s supposed to be /author/author-name like this: http://themenectar.com/demo/salient/author/themenectar/
On this page: http://www.webteam.cornwall.nhs.uk/home-blog/
I would like the following adjustments if that is possible please
- The dummy text under the headline needs to have it’s left and right margin narrowed by 100px each side
- Can the meta, eg By pearsori | Food for thought | No Comments be put underneath the dummy text and font enlarged slightly
- Is there any availability to show gravatars here?
- Can the date/likes block be moved from the left hand side and run underneath the meta info
- Can the read more buttons be removed?
- Is there any ability to put in a divider line between the headline and the dummy text
- Can the padding or margin be increased on the headline say 100px above and below?
Cheers R
Hey Rich,
1.
article.post .content-inner {
padding-left: 100px;
padding-right: 100px;
}
2. Moving it would require modding the files, but here’s how to make it larger:
post-header span {
font-size: 16px!important;
}
3. Not without custom development.
4. This would require a fair deal of css modding
5.
article.post .more-link, .blog-recent .more-link {
display: none!important;
}
6.
article.post h2.title {
border-bottom: 1px solid #CCCCCC;
padding-bottom: 30px;
}
7.
article.post h2.title {
margin: 100px 0!important;
}
Cheers
Hiya, thanks for this, re point 1, what will this do in responsive mode?
Points 2 & 4 which files do i need to mod and will they work on a child theme?
Point 7 the margin on the title only needs to be on the grey bands, evens i think, you gave me css for this earlier – not sure how to gix that
Hey,
1. You’d need to keep that in a media query to only effect desktop and change it to be less in windows < 1000
2. The files inside of includes/post-templates and unfortunately not
7. In that case, change the snippet to this:
.wpb_row #post-area article {
padding: 100px!important;
}
Re point 1 do you mean like this: ?
@media only screen and (min-width : 1px) and (max-width : 1000px) {
padding-left: 200px!important;
padding-right: 200px!important;
}
@media only screen and (min-width : 1px) and (max-width : 1000px) {
article.post .content-inner {
padding-left: 200px!important;
padding-right: 200px!important;
}
}
Yes, those are both good media queries except in your second one you’re going to want to reduce the padding because it’s for mobile screens. Perhaps change it to 10%;
Hiya bud, for some reason the media query just isn’t working
any ideas? here is the code for both normal and media…
@media only screen and (min-width : 1px) and (max-width : 1000px) {
article.post .content-inner {
padding-left: 5px!important;
padding-right: 5px!important;
}
}
article.post .content-inner {
padding-left: 100px!important;
padding-right: 100px!important;
}
Hey, i’m not seeing that mobile rules inside of the media query take effect. Make sure it’s not nested accidentally in something else and also wrap the desktop rules in one too:
@media only screen and (min-width : 1000px) {
article.post .content-inner {
padding-left: 100px!important;
padding-right: 100px!important;
}
}
Hmmm still not working bud, looked at the source and it’s def there on line 347 onwards:
@media only screen and (min-width : 1000px) {
article.post .content-inner {
padding-left: 10px!important;
padding-right: 10px!important;
}
}
Have I targeted the wrong class? Must be doing something wrong
Turns out it was just a typo – should be (max-width : 1000px) instead of (min-width : 1000px) – I’ve changed that for you already
Brilliant thank you
how do I center this information now, as in responsive it’s not quite acting correctly – see headlines etc?
It seems to already have reverted back to the wrong media query so I can’t see what you meant on mobile – can you change the max-width to min-width again?
Hmm just done that and it’s broken now, not understanding, as it doesn’t seem to work with max or min in the declaration ?
Fixed it for you again – just needed to change it to max width and then move the rule under the other one so it had the correct hierarchy:
article.post .content-inner {
padding-left: 190px!important;
padding-right: 190px!important;
padding-bottom: 20px !important;
}
@media only screen and (max-width : 1000px) {
article.post .content-inner {
padding-left: 10px!important;
padding-right: 10px!important;}
}
brill thanks bud

Hiya,
I have checked on 4 computers now and the following h2 nectar slider titles are not doing anything for me, have I done something wrong? for instance on this page: http://www.webteam.cornwall.nhs.uk/our-story/ the headline should only be 20px but it’s not its 80px
.swiper-slide.home .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 80px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
.swiper-slide.services .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 20px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
.swiper-slide.work .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 20px; text-transform:none!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
.swiper-slide.ourstory .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 20px; text-transform:none!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
.swiper-slide.journal .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 20px; text-transform:none!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
Found this in my custom css
body .nectar-slider-wrap[data-full-width="true"] .swiper-slide .content h2 { font-size: 102px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: 0!important; line-height: 1!important; font-weight: 600!important;}
It seems to be the culprit, when removed all the nectar slide works as expected, apart from the home page one
.swiper-slide.home .content h2 { font-family: "Futura PT",'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif!important; font-weight:600 !important; font-size: 80px; text-transform:uppercase!important; letter-spacing: .1em!important; line-height: 330px!important;}
What do I need to do to rectify this on the homepage please?
R
Scrub all that I have sorted it yayyy
Good to hear

Hi ThemeNectar!
I have a quick question. I’ve managed to screw up my product thumbnail images. They all look really pixelated now somehow. ( http://bit.ly/1rIymCL ) And the images have jumped down to different rows as well.
What are the optimal sizes for the product thumbnails?
Right now I’ve set the catalogue images to 220px x 220px at the WooCommerce -> Settings -> Products. And I have the same dimensions for Miniature Images in Media Settings. (And I’ve regenerated all the thumbnails several times).
What dimensions should I use to fix this?
Thank you for your time!
Hey psoderfjord!
I can’t see much pixelation in your images but add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel to fix the images from jumping down rows:
html .woocommerce ul.products li:nth-child(4n+5) {
clear: both !important;
}
Cheers
Hi again!
Hm, unfortunately it doesn’t seem like the code snipped helps, the images are still jumping down…
Sorry, change that to this:
html .woocommerce .container-wrap .span_9 ul.products li:nth-child(4n+5) {
clear: both !important;
}
and remove this that’s already in your Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel:
html .woocommerce ul.products li:nth-child(5n+5) {
clear: both !important;
}
Cheers
Perfect, worked like a charm! Thank you!!
You’re welcome
Hey, I was wondering if you had any plans to add multi layer parallax to the nectar slider? So for example – when you hover over it the layers move in a very subtle way?
Thanks again!
Joe
Hey Joe! Something like this is already on the wishlist so it’s possible it will make its way in
