Hello, Some questions before I purchase. 1) I would like custom headers, custom backgrounds, custom menu backgrounds or transparent menus on a per page basis, is this possible? 2) I would like custom menus on a per page basis. Ie. on “home” assign menu1, on “shop” assign menu2, sticky menu assign menu3, etc. 3) I prefer to set google fonts, colors, sizes etc through admin panel. Is this possible? 4) do you have shortcodes to detect display type? I’ve worked with a theme that allowed you to do conditionals on displaytype. eg., if mobile don’t display enclosed content like [display not mobile]CONTENT[/display] 5) can you adjust header/menu/content/footer/widget styles through admin panel? 6) do you have a screenshot of the admin panel so we can see what is customizable?
thanks!
Hey eco_emilio,
1. Yes to all except custom menu BG’s on a page by page basis would require custom css.
2. This would also require some custom development or the use of a plugin to handle the logic
3. You have control over the font families, sizing, letter spacing, transforms and subsets through the admin panel but coloring would need css.
4. Unfortunately no, this would require media queries – however there might be a plugin for that functionality you could grab.
5. Yes
6. There’s too many tabs in the theme options panel to link them all but if you check out the video tutorials I show the options panel in a few https://www.youtube.com/user/ThemeNectar
Cheers!
Hi there!
First of all, thanks for the fast and competent help in the past!
Secondy, I need more of it
Here’s my page: http://www.scherwitzl.com/wordpress/ The problem is that the menu items have a lot of bottom padding, so the submenus look out of place on hover, especially when the menu is transparent. What should I do to make them pop up a bit higher?
And a second question. Where can I change the background color for the submenus?
Thank you very much!
Hey mimms!
1. Add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel:.sf-menu ul {
margin-top: -20px;
}
2. You can control the colors by selecting “custom” for the header color scheme in the Salient options panel > header tab
Cheers
thanks!
You’re welcome

You’re welcome
Hi Theme Nectar! 1.I created a Nectar Slider 1920×600. The picture is mostly white but I did make sure to positioning the real image inside the 1100 width (container). The problem happens when I try to see on my Iphone and change the position from Portrait to Landscape then come back to Portrait. The picture is cut. Could you take a look please? I also tried to change to container, full background width and still the same.
Hey maurinoloureiro! You just need to activate the flexible height option on your Nectar Slider which was added in Salient v4.0
When I go to dashboard>Salient>Woocommerce, there are 3 options for Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
I would like to add Instagram there as well. Understandably this is out of your scope of support ( I assume ) as this is definitely custom development.
Are you able to let me know what files need to be modified or give me a starting point on what needs to be modified to accomplish adding this in. I would think it would be multiple files that need to be edited.. so I figured I’d inquire before potentially wasting hours going in the wrong direction.
Thanks
Hey mkurk!
The files that would need to be modded are:
- functions.php, search for “review_quickview” to end up at the right place - init.js, located in the js folder – search for
//load share count on load
to end up at the right place.
Cheers
Hi – in the latest version of the theme with WP 3.9 there is no line break between the header and the content.
Image example: http://i.imgur.com/Xf74sun.png
Hey dcress! There should be if you’re using the sidebar layout – but if you’re just using the default layout with a column layout you’ll need to set padding on that top row. Thanks for pointing this out though
Oh, by the way, where can I publicly rate this theme? I have tested nearly a hundred themes and have bought a few from your competitors. Salient is solid, versatile, elegant. What a fantastic theme!
Thanks so much sildona, that means a lot!
The only place to rate the theme is through the standard stars you can assign in your downloads tab, but the comment you just left was much appreciated
Cheers
Working with the Clean All-Purpose dummy data… How do I use the Nectar Slider in place of the Home Slider? I can’t find how to disable the Home Slider and replace it with a Nectar Slider on my Home-Landing Page.
Hey palsy1149,
All you need to do is change the page layout to “default” in the page attributes box located on the right hand side when editing your page
Cheers
Yep. Totally missed that and it worked. Thanks. You guys rock, your technical support is great and the theme is awesome. Best $57 I’ve spent in a long time.
Glad to hear it’s sorted & thanks a lot!
Whats the easiest way to make a transparent header over a full_width_section? Im fluent with CSS/PHP etc, can you just point me in the right direction. Time is of the essence. Thanks.
Hey eyeballer, this will probably be made into an option for future releases but for now the mod will take place inside the functions.php file at the function “using_page_header”
Cheers
Hi ThemeNectar,
This is not a question but an instruction to other users of your theme in combination with Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin.
When using the sitemap functionality you will see a 404-error page when checking the Salient page that would normally show a sitemap. When deselecting the sitemap functionality, saving the page and than reactivating the sitemap functionality and saving the page again, will show you the sitemap page.
This took me quite some time to figure out and therefore I wanted to let you know so other can save themselves the time and hassle of finding this out.
Good luck.
Cheers, Marc
Hey Marc, thanks for noting this
That’s pretty odd – I wonder if simply resaving the permalinks would have also sorted it. Have marked down to test.
Cheers!
Resaving did the trick
Good to hear
I am doing the slides and when I upload a picture they say “HTTP ERROR” and I cannot upload the pic. But one week ago I did the same and I had no problems with that. Why today I cannot?
Hey tcr48, have you ensured that a plugin is not causing the issue?
Hi! Thank you for this great theme! Just a question : my “Latest Projects Widget” has some problems, please have a look at my site’s footer at this url: http://bit.ly/1hrBnkX
How can I fix this? Thank you very much!
Hey davideerba! Can you verify really quick that a plugin conflict isn’t causing this behavior?
Hi, actually there is no conflict with the plugins I installed.. what can I do? Thank you..
Hey again!
Add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel for a quickfix in that case:
.recent_projects_widget div a:first-child {
display: none!important;
}
Hi! I’ve just added the two lines in my Custom CSS Box but… nothing happens to my recent projects widget… the problem stands still..
Hey!
I don’t see the css getting applied on the front of your site but now when I check your link the recent projects has no blank item – did you sort this?
Hi! Yes… I switched the latest project widget from the 2nd footer column to the 3rd one… It sounds very strange but.. it works!
Indeed, but glad to hear you sorted it!
When setting up a homepage hero sized(full screen) slider- like seen on the demo “portfolio eye candy”
What specs would you use to ensure that users get a full screen slider?
PS- I have purchased the them on work accounts(this account is a new personal one, hence the no purchase)
Also, this is my favorite theme by a long shot- excellent work and I always look forward to updates and improvements. Lastly, do you plan to allow a simple, theme-based way to adjust your font colors?
Thanks michaelcm
1. As long as you’ve checked the option for full screen on your Nectar Slider – it will always occupy 100% of the screen height/width. Also since I used a video for the BG on that page I keep the size in a full HD 16:9 aspect ratio.
2. Possibly, though I always recommend css for mass font color since it’s simple and can give precise control – if you need assistance let me know!
Hey, how can I make my menu “trasparent”? I found in older comments you say to insert this code: html body #header-outer.transparent[data-transparent-header=”true”] { border: none!important; }
into the CSS box in the Salient Option Panel. The problem is that when I copy these lines into it appears two errors: 1) unqualified attribute selectors are known to be slow 2) use of !important
What I have to do? Thanks
Hey Luker92!
Those are just warnings, not errors and the snippet should still work. However that snippet only removes the bottom border on the transparent menu option, were you looking for that or to make your menu transparent even when scrolled down? If you’re looking for the latter add this in instead:
#header-outer {
background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0.9)!important;
}
How can I increase the menu item sizes please (header) and also increase the spacing between each menu item?
R
The menu item sizing can be configured in the typography tab of your Salient options panel – as for increasing the spacing between each item, use this css:
header#top nav ul li {
margin-left: 10px!important;
}
Are there options to make a blog page look like this: http://focuslabllc.com/journal
I would like to 1) Centre all blog entries, including title and snippet text 2) Add avatar of author, date, and if there are any comments 3) Alternate the blog entries so that every other one has a light grey background 4) Add in a separator image between title and snippet 5) Add in pagination at the top (like the link has)
R
Hey Rich, unfortunately there’s no built in styles like that and since the modification is significantly different than any of the ones that exist it would take some css development outside of the scope of what I can practically give – however I’ve noted the idea of style like that for the wishlist
Can I easily centre all blog entries though, and alternate the background colour per every other item? Happy to give it a go myself if you let me know which file and where to edit? – My only issue with doing this though is that it cant be done in a child-theme, and unless you are def planning to make this a feature it will be a pain when updating the theme to a new version.
Here’s the css to center the posts
#post-area article {
text-align: center!important;
}
You could technically handle the stripes with all css but the main thing you’ll have to do is make the main container display full width to allow the full width color bg’s then probably set the .post-content div to be centered in a normal container like width.
Cheers
Not totally with you on this one bud, sorry any small chance you could log in an dadd that for me? Or give me some css to change please
That mod would be a bit out of the scope of regular support (the full width BG stripes), but the centered text mod should work – are you still having any issues with that?
Hi bud, sorry I know it’s asking a lot but pretty please can you help me re the alternate blog background colour, happy to amend files myself if you tell me which ones and where :) this is quite a crucial look and feel for the site :) buy you a beer
The beer offer sounds pretty tempting, but unfortunately I can’t assist with this specific request much further. My basic guide above of “You could technically handle the stripes with all css but the main thing you’ll have to do is make the main container display full width to allow the full width color bg’s then probably set the .post-content div to be centered in a normal container like width.” is already documenting what would actually be involved and I wouldn’t be able to explain it much more without providing the css myself
I would buy you a beer too
If you could supply me with the CSS I would be solo grateful – I have tried to follow what you said but not getting very far with it
I also want to activate the under each snippet the ability to have, posted by, date and comments, plus maybe an extra image graphic under the title, is this something that could be done by editing a file somewhere – and if so can that edited file be used in a child-theme?
If none of that is easily possible would you consider having that as an option to turn on or off in the theme options for your next update please?
R
I have it set to full width now, with centred content and all the snippets e.g. comments, author etc all turned on, all I need now is the alternate stripe function – which I’m really stuck on, plus the meta info needs all to be moved to under each post snippet
You need to set the row to full width content, not just BG and then use something like this:
.wpb_row #post-area article:nth-child(2n+2) {
background-color: #fff!important;
}
.wpb_row #post-area article .post-content {
width: 70%!important;
margin: 0 auto!important;
}
Awesome works a treat thanks bud, how do I make all the meta flow underneath the snippets now?
You’re welcome
It would require editing the files inside includes/post-templates by simply moving that data under the_content()
Can that file be added into the child theme?
Unfortunately not
One last question re this please (sorry) does it have to be set to background full width to achieve the effect I’m after, as in a nutshell the padding left and right I have added is a lot and when you squeeze the browser down it doesn’t reduce the padding very well?
Wondered if I could perhaps add media queries for smaller browser sizes as well, but wasn’t sure what to write e.g….
@media only screen and (min-width : 500px) {
article.post .content-inner {
padding-left: 10px!important;
padding-right: 10px!important;
}
}
That media query is good, just change the min-width to say max-width
My appologies if this question is too obvious: But is it possible to insert a side-widget with sub-categories that are not displayed in the main-header dropdown?
Like if you wisit a normal webshop like Ebay, and choose “shoes” you will always have like “Sneakers, formal, sports” etc. like sub-categories. I found a “custom menu” widget but that is not what I am looking for. Do you get me?
Hey Peter,
it sounds like you’re after a dynamic menu widget – you’d probably have to grab a plugin for this as there’s nothing built into WP by default that can assist.
Cheers
Hey, is there anyway to sort the portfolio side by a php variable in the URL?
Hey!
The closest thing you can do to that is to use /project-type/your-project-category in the URL.
Cheers
How do I change the padding between blog items please matey – there seems to be no option of this?
Also need to change the title colour of the blog headlines to white and make them a bigger font size – possible?
Lastly re the blogs how do I display the author and say posted 1 day ago, etc information underneath the snippets of each blog item?
R
1. Are you using a masonry blog? If so, you’d have to change the css values for the width/margin bottom on the class ”.masonry-blog-item” which you’ll find in the style.css and responsive.css
2.body article.post .post-header h2 a {
color: #FFFFFF !important;
font-size: 40px!important;
}
3. The files to modify the positioning of that are located in includes/post-templates inside the main theme directory
No not using a masonry blog
I need some css please to remove the 4th column and increase the padding between the 3
that css isn’t working for me on my homepage recent posts ?? looking at the inspect element it says the title is: .home .blog-recent .span_3 .post-header {
Checking out your URL it appears that the fourth column is indeed removed – the only thing I see is that you could safely increase the column width to 32% instead of the 30% I initially posed.
Also to target the recent posts header – use this:html .home .blog-recent .span_3 .post-header h3 a {
color: #fff !important;
}
Cheers
Yeah managed to figure out the row removal, sorry missed your note on col width – how do I increase that to 32% again please?
This was the css snippet I provided:
.blog-recent .col {
width: 30% !important;
}
Just change that to 32
Hiya, done that and it’s not making a visable difference, I really need a wide margin in between cols say 40px, I am also trying to target the font size for the paragraph text on this section but can’t seem to achieve it, and lastly I don’t want the font colour to be white, how do I target this? _ cheers and sorry R
It seems you’ve already set 70px of padding to each – as for the coloring, you can set that in the column options (check out the “Font Color”). In regards to the font size, you’ll need to set a class on the row and then target that
.some-class p {
font-size: 20px!important;
}
Cheers
Hiya, I did all that with custom ccs
.blog-recent .col { width: 32%!important; padding-right: 70px!important;}
.blog-recent .col:nth-child(3) { margin-right: 0!important; }
.blog-recent .col:last-child { display: none!important; }
html .home .blog-recent .span_3 .post-header h3 a { color: #fff !important; font-size:28px !important; margin-bottom: 30px!important; }
I have tried to set the font colour as suggested but as the row is set to light the text just comes out as white
I currently see the p color set to ADADAC in that row – have you sorted this?
Yeah think so bud
Cheers
I want a full width background with a background image, then I want to put blog items in a container in the centre with the same tiling background – I just can’t seem to achieve this
R
Please just let me know the URL where you’ve attempted this and are having issues so I can check it out
Hi Bud, I sent you an email yesterday with all the details, did you not get it?
Yes, just wrote back
