Hi, pre sales question. Im planing to create a website with large menus, aprox 20 items each, would that be a problem visually? Would the menu scroll or the items size would need to be reduced?? Thanks in advance
Hey million_insights! Are you planning on have 20 items directly inside of a dropdown with no further nesting or use of the mega menu? If so, that might flow off a users screen who isn’t using a large desktop monitor so you’d need to just reduce the size with css

I noticed that I have an interesting gap at the right side of page. Normally browser wouldn’t give horizontal slider bar. However, if you slide horizontally with your mouse or trackpad the gap appears and stays in the page. I checked it with Safari and Chrome. Both gives the same gap at the right side of the page. I dissected the page into its elements and it seems recent project element is causing the problem. I also noticed that sometimes nectar slider fullwidth option may cause the same problem. It looks really weird when it is there.
I wonder if I am doing something wrong or if there is a bug? I appreciate your help. You can check my main page where the gap appears in http://id-thought.com You just need to slide the page horizontally.
Hey ekapkin! It appears the recent projects element is what’s allowing that to appear and it only seems to show in webkit browsers – just add this into the custom css box in your Salient options panel to sort it

Hi Salient,
I finally added a blog post and I’m having an issue with the Gallery Slider. Basically, it doesn’t put the images in the slider, it lists them vertically, but has the buttons overlap post title.
Is there something I’m doing wrong?

Hey – a lot of the page builder elements also exist as shortcodes and vice versa but some are specific to each such as the button element only exists in as a shortcode and newer row options can only be accessed through the page builder rows.

On my homepage I added a portfolio of 16 posts. In my portfolio filter drop down menu, I select one of the categories, but it doesn’t show all the posts that are tagged with that particular category. How do I make it so that when I select a category in my portfolio filter, that all the posts in my portfolio are displayed?
For reference: If you select “Scottsdale” in my portfolio filter drop down menu, some posts that are tagged with the category “Scottsdale” are not appearing such as my post “4020 Lofts.”

by default the filters are only going to filter the items that exist on the current page – they’re not pulling in items in that category and populating them on the page, unfortunately that’s not how it works. However an ajax based portfolio is already on the wishlist

Just wanted to say that I’m in love how you took this theme to the next level with the new header options and all. You might need to slow down so your competition can catch up a bit 
I have two tiny things. I think that there’s a bug with the smooth scrolling option. If I have it activated, then I can’t scroll at all on a Surface Tablet. Except when I grab the scrollbar. Maybe it has something to do with the internet explorer for Windows RT?
The second thing is a suggestion. Could you please add an option so we can change the text color (and even better the button too) individually on each Nectar slider slide? This would be an awesome addition

Hi there, I’m having some trouble with the lightbox on woocommerce product pages. When I click on a product image it shows the theme’s styled prettyphoto lightbox, but there is no X button, and the arrows are off the image. The only way out of the lightbox is the esc key. I also can’t get any other lightbox plugin to work. On the woocommerce product images it is the same lightbox no matter what I try. Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks!

I know you said I can insert an img src code into the caption and display my content that way, but I was also wondering if there was another way to program the Nectar Slider so it can display images without them being stretched as backgrounds similar to the Royal Slider Plugin on CodeCanyon or the Mighty Slider. I really love the Nectar Slider, but I’d love the functionality of the above sliders as they make great galleries for my images (both horizontal and vertical).
If you know of any other options, please let me know and thanks again

That being said, I have uploaded any image like you said using the img src, but is there any way to remove the effect? For example, the image fades in from the bottom when I’d rather just have it fade in without it occuring from the side, top or bottom.

Hi Nectar. I’m using the Team Member element (meta overlaid) in a Carousel. It is possible to set the height and width of the images, so that only 4 team member are displayed, prior to scrolling to the next member? Right now, it’s defaulting to 3 members and the images are rather large. I need the image height to be around 200px. Thanks again for your help.
Hey Joe,
the carousel element only allows 3 columns by default, but if you remove that and place your team member elements directly in columns you could have any column sizing you desire. Assuming you want to keep the carousel, you’ll have to handle this mod in the init.js file located in the js folder and change this line:
var maxCols = ($(this).parents('.carousel-wrap').attr('data-full-width') == 'true') ? 'auto' : 3 ;

Sorry, just another quick question! The nectar slider at http://www.cantedpictures.com/blog/ jumps slides by two… do you have any idea why this might be? Should I disable something or insert a code to make it work properly?
Quick Note: the slider is no longer skipping, but I’ve had this issue occur on and off before. Sometimes it skips, other times it corrects itself. Do you have any idea why?

1. I have not personally tested with that slider, but if you can enqueue the assets as needed (which could be handled in a child theme) then I don’t see why there would be any issues.
2. Can you open a ticket with your login credentials in regards to this? I would ideally need to take a look at your setup to see if there’s anything wrong since this isn’t a known issue.

Hi there, Recently, my “Visual Mode” posts have a white text on a white background. I can only see what I’m doing in HTML mode…this seems like it may have started with the latest version of the theme? This only happens when I’m composing anything using the Visual Composer. If I just use the straight wysiwig editor I can toggle between both HTML and Visual and everything shows up as it should.

Hey mrpiano! This was an issue that WP 3.9 brought – are you sure you’re on a fresh install of Salient 4.0.3? If so, please check to make sure you don’t have a plugin conflict

Hi Theme Nectar – I just purchased this theme a few weeks ago and I have a question of hover colors on my portfolio items. I was hoping I could assign a color to my categories and when you hover over the portfolio items, that category color would come up. Right now all my portfolio hover colors are in my main accent color and it’s hard to view – even if I could just make all the colors different instead of the same hover color on each one (regardless of the category). I looked in product configuration and I dont see anything that would let me specify a color for each of my portfolio items. Please help. Thanks very much! BTW…I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this theme – awesome job!

That’s what I was afraid of!! I purchased it March 17, 2014 because Salient demo showed different colors on the portfolio and was my whole reason for buying it. My version is 3.9.1. I’m really disappointed, is there anything I can do at this point?
There actually is no v3.9.1 of Salient – you’re probably looking at your WP version instead of the theme. But yes, you have free updates for life when you purchase a copy – just head back into your downloads tab and redownload it to get the latest version
That’s wonderful news…I just have one more question. I’m a newbie, so to redownload the theme (without losing all my work) do I go back to “Themes” in my sidebar menu; then “Appearances”; click the “add new” button and select the new version (after I download it) and then activate it – so I’ll have two theme nectars loaded? 1. Yes that’s correct – except you’ll need to delete the old version of the theme first before uploading the new. (All of your content will remain)
2. You should download the first and then you’ll extract the theme zip (salient.zip) to install in your WordPress setup.

Hey k_bednarczyk, it’s actually not possible to use an image for the large icon and have that effect without custom development. You would need to create an icon file from your images, load that in with css and then you could call it in a salient icon with html
