Great theme and updates!
After using it awhile I have some things for the wish list to make it even more amazing. Despite all the options to the theme I think it’s great you still allow things to look clean and minimal if desired.
1. I know it’s been asked by others but would be great if the portfolio could be filterable by two themes instead of just one with animation effect. This would give an added boost in flexibility whilst still hopefully keeping a clean and minimal look. For example I’m an artist and it would be great if people could filter my portfolio by both theme and by medium that the work was created by.
2. Greater flexibility with the home page captions. It would be great if the caption duration could be in some way independent of the slideshow images. For example I often want a caption to last longer than one slide duration and it’s weird to have it repeatedly pop up with multiple slides. The images are good to go faster but sometimes the caption needs to remain longer for people to read. It would also be great to allow randomization of slides also. Potentially choosing a set starting slide then the rest to go to random, or groups that play in order and others that go random for the ultimate flexibility. It would be great for the slide to advance after a video had completed rather than looping and for the video to begin automatically also if desired so the whole effect was seamless.
3. I haven’t set up the blog section on my site yet. The full screen masonry blog layout looks great but without the filters on the sidebar it limits how to easily people can filter the posts. It would be amazing if something similar to the filters to the portfolio could be incorporated at the top of the blog page (even with the same animation effects if possible). I haven’t seen this functionality on other themes and would certainly push Salient even further into the front!

Hey justindenhaag! If you’ve already checked to make sure it’s not a plugin conflict and that you have a fresh version of the theme installed please open a ticket so I can log in and check on it for you

Awesome theme. Just noticed one issue. Using parallax nectar slider, then row, then full width background parallax doesn’t work properly in Chrome but seems to work fine in Safari and IE. The third row, full width parallax background seems to disappear downward in chrome.

One thing I would like to put forward is, it would be awesome if you could have the ability to have the “via [YOUR TWITTER USERNAME HERE]” option when your sharing a tweet. If this was possible in Salient, it would be absolutely amazing! Would it be possible for it to happen with Salient do you think?

Pre purchase again: Can the slideshow automatically start when the site loads? Meaning the video starts (with audio) and when finished it moves to the next slide without pressing the next arrow.

There is indeed an autooate for the slider but it has to be a set duration for all slides so trying to sync it up with videos wouldn’t work the best especially if you wanted audio in them.

Yes but it’s not recommended since there are no controls so you’d be forcing it upon the user – if you want to show an informational video it’s recommended to pop it open in a lightbox from a button link in the slide

1) Hi! I’m using the Recent Projects shortcode on the home page, but the project open up on a new tab. Is there an option to change this?
2) Vimeo embeds create 2 black bars on the sides when using Safari and on stock android browser (on Chrome, Firefox an IE it looks normal). I’ve played around with the size, but can’t seem to find a fix. Is this a known issue?

Hi, I managed to fix the 1st problem by using a shortcode instead of using the “home – portfolio” page Regarding the second problem, it only happens when I have “extended responsive design” turned on. Turned it off and all works well now

a) Change the opacity of the overlay pattern (I tried the stting you gave me for the video but it didnt work) Could you just give me a CSS example of how it might look b) Is it possible to actually change the dotted pattern altogether c) How did you create the parallel slider effect. Is there a tutorial or hints you can give?

Thanks Nectar for the updates. Love the new button styles and social icons. Awesome work as always! Can I please add a few items to the next set of updates. 1) Would love to see a slide out or side menu in mobile. 2) Would be great to have a mobile only menu. 3) On the transparent menu, would be awesome if we could set the menu font color. For lighter images, the page header can be set to dark, but the menu appears in white. This would be a nice option within the page header section. 4) Would still like to vote for an alternative ajax search for business related sites. Perhaps under the search icon. 5) Would love to have an option for a footer menu or links. 6) Fade option for Nectar slider. Sorry for the long list. Thanks!

Thanks Nectar. I think Item 3 is really needed to help compliment the transparent menu. Of course, I guess the color of the logo would also have to change. Anyway, really impressed with the updates. Keep the momentum going.
In regards to #3 – I actually added the option to disable the transparent effect on certain pages so for now that could sort the issue

Select “custom” for your header color scheme in the header options tab and you’ll have control over it. Also you can add an email address in as a custom link in the menu

2. If you’re asking how to remove the parallax effect – I would suggest using the Nectar Slider instead of the Home Slider since it has the option to disable that

Instead of using the Visual Composer video element, try just pasting the youtube iframe embed code into the text tab on your editor
did that…and nothing shows now…but the music starts so it’s all weird now…

if i use the old code from youtube the video shows up but in this long format…the new code does not work at all…iframe…any ideas???

Thanks for the update! Just wanted to mention that sometimes, while using HTTPS for my site and galleries, I get this message for the social media icons:
[blocked] The page at ‘https://cantedpictures.com/blog/black-white/ was loaded over HTTPS, but ran insecure content from ‘http://graph.facebook.com/?id=https://cantedpictures.com/blog/black-white&callback=jQuery111009022031654603779_1400597212089&_=1400597212090'
It also gives me the same http insecure link for pinterest and twitter. This is the same for all galleries unfortunately. Is there anyway I can fix this and make all the links secure so my images always appear in the gallery? Right now it’s very random and when i tried to show my site to a co-worker, they said it wasn’t appearing and was a blank page.

That message should only occur if you somehow managed to get content outside of vc rows – did you ever try messing around in the classic editor and accidentally place content outside of a row? If you can’t find the content doing that I’d be glad to log in and assist

hmm…sounds reasonable enough. I’ll check that out. One of the issues i’m having with new WP and current theme is when I hit the “Save” button using the Visual Composer, the dialogue box doesn’t close. The updates are saved, but I have to “x” out of the window that pops open…somewhat frustrating. Any ideas on that? Sorry to put another problem in the same thread.
I would also like to add that the support you have given on this theme has been really quite good and I thank you.

@grouettestudio You should install an FTP client and configure it then do all of your updating/changing/deleting from that If your stuck understanding how to configure FTP speak to your hosting provider and they will be able to help you, once it’s set up you wish you had done it sooner, awesome FTP clients that I use are, FireFTP, Yummy FTP or my favourite Transmit
Alternatively it is in WP, basically deactivate the theme, then hover over it till you see theme details, click this, then in the bottom right hand corner there is a delete button.
