Hi there,
Working with the mega menu, I’ve noticed a few differences between your demo, and what I see when I put one together. This is with the latest version of Salient by the way.
First off, you have dividers between the columns, which in my case don’t show up.
Secondly, and more important, in your demo, when you hover over ‘Portfolio’ menu item and hover over a link in a column, the link stays the same color (I understand that one) and the column header changes color. In my case, when I hover over a link in a column, the link changes color (as set by me in ‘Dropdown Font Hover’) but the column header also changes to the same color. I don’t see an option in the Salient Header settings anywhere to change that. For reference, my drop down colors are roughly set to white background, red background hover, black dropdown font, and white dropdown hover font. The only alteration I made is prevent the mega menu dropdown from spanning the entire header width.
I made two gifs to illustrate. First one is your behavior, second one is what I see (text blurred by the way). You’ll notice in my version that in the second frame, the blue box is where the column header text is and changes color. I’d like it to change to the background hover color in this case.

Follow up question about the column headers, how can I add column headers as per your example that are NOT links?

1. If you’re sure your CSS has nothing to do with the missing separators please open a ticket in regards http://themenectar.ticksy.com/
2. Because the dropdown header does not have a BG color the text turning white on hover causes the issue – to solve this, you could use custom css:
html body header#top nav > ul > li.megamenu > ul.sub-menu > li > a {
color: #000!important;
}
3. In your Appearance > Menu section use ”#” in for the link URL

On portfolio items (using full width content setting), when I add an image I cannot resize it. Yes the admin does allow me to drag to desired size, but in the end, the image is the original size. Anything I should do?

Since images in Salient are inherently responsive to fill the column they are in, you’ll need to either place the image inside of a column or give it a css class in which you define the width/height in

I’ve been wrestling with Jetpack and their widget visibility option. I contacted their end and we tested everything (every option, clearing cache…) and only way to get it work was testing with another theme.
Any idea why Salient isn’t compatible with Jetpack Widget Visibility and is there a way to make it compatible? Cheers

Hello, congratulations for the theme, very well done.
I have 3 questions and I try to do the paths to solve these problems. 1) How can I put three buttons aligned (nectar-button large see-through has-icon), each of them is placed at the end of a text of different lengths on the same line (within a block of text), but different column (column 3 1 line 1 text + text + 1 button button button 1text +) without reflected on different display layout?
2) How can I put 2 google maps side by side, one does not see me.
3) How can I insert an image (logo) on the bottom-meta /shown different for each work (portfolio), instead of the written standard that assigns the theme.

1. Anyway you could supply a quick screenshot demonstrating the layout you desire? I’m not sure I totally understand yet.
2. You can use the full width content row type and then place a map element inside of each 1/2 column
3. Unfortunately this wouldn’t be possible without some custom development currently since there’s no easy way substitute an image instead of the text.

2. Are you on the latest release? Early versions prior to 4.1 did not allow for multiple maps on the same page.

I may Purchase this theme but I wanted to know if you portfolio section with filter would AJAX content versus going to page – I dont want our end users having to go back and forth to portfolio page to content page -

I love the theme. I have one problem. I am trying to add a nectar slideshow to my title page , however the problem I have is that it always show the ’’Home screen’’ and never displays the nectar slide show on top.
how can i turn off the home slider and enable instead the nectar slider?

To remove the Home Slider you just need to change the page template to default in the “Page Attributes” box when editing your page

On another note, the documentation does not contain all information, and people in countries with low internet speeds cannot view the videos to resolve all queries. Let me point out that we do not purchase these themes to upload them as is and just edit the textual content. No, we also edit (a.k.a customize) elements of the theme so as to suit our tastes.
If you cannot offer this kind of support, then why bother selling such themes in the first place. If you are not interested, please refund my amount. There are other themes with better support.
And not everyone works on a live server…I don’t understand why he needs everything on a live server to offer support. Absolutely crazy!

This is because it simply becomes somewhat of a guessing game when he’s answering blindly as to why certain custom css is not working on your end but is on his. Hey danitomas, It would require some custom JS ideally to move the main header up when scrolling down to take the place of the secondary nav.

Now I have another question for you : I translated the theme with Codestyling Localization and it works great, but it seems there’s a little bug with the portfolio filters ( when displayed in list, not inline ). I translated the “Sort Portfolio” text that is displayed by default when the portfolio loads. It works but when I hover the dropdown menu, the text goes back to “Sort Portfolio, overriding my translation. It’s not a big deal, but it’s a bit confusing. Is there any solution to fix this ?

Yes, and thanks for the info! I can now see what’s causing that issue and will resolve it in the next update. For now, if you add your translated text in the field for “Custom Portfolio Page Sortable Text” in the portfolio tab via the Salient options panel it should correct it

What is the css code to get rid of the /portfolio/ in the url as I just want it to state the web url and then a / to the page?
Also, I used the CSS code you guys gave me to make the site background black and the text white. The problem is that in portfolio mode with the box on the left and arrow on the right and h1 tags – the text is still gray. What is the CSS code to make it white? I still want the hover link to stay the same.
I sent in a support ticket – not getting a response. Pleas help.
Another big suggestion: Create a page for all of us to view custom css codes to add to the css code section so we don’t have to ask the same question multiple times and have to wait a while till you respond.
Maybe you guys are overloaded with tons of posts to respond and tickets to respond. It might be time to invest in additional staff at ThemeNectar. The bigger you guys are getting, response to help tickets have been very delayed at times. I think you’re overloaded with requests or are just busy. Please help. With over 17,000 sales, you could afford to bring on “at least” an extra person than what you have now.

1. You can’t remove the slug altogether for the single page on a custom post type since that’s reserved for blog posts. You can modify it from “portfolio” to another word in your options panel, but taking it away would require custom development (not css based).

3b. I don’t see any tickets open that are waiting on a response for more than 24 hours currently. The average turn around time for tickets has not gone up and actually went down a fair deal as of a couple months ago when an additional support staff member was brought on. Hello FIKFILM, That’s actually incorrect – the error you’re seeing has nothing to do with the WP version you’re using, but rather a security setting on your server that is breaking the initialization of Visual Composer. You can either get in touch with your hosting company to assist or solve it yourself by opening your js_composer.php file located in wpbakery / js_composer and changing this line:
if (!defined('VC_THEME_DIR')) define('VC_THEME_DIR', get_theme_root());
to this:
if (!defined('VC_THEME_DIR')) define('VC_THEME_DIR', mb_strcut(get_theme_root(), 1));

Great theme! I have created several portfolio items and applied a single “Project Category” to each item, which is great for when I have a page that uses a Portfolio element, I can filter the list by Project Category. However, when I click on the item in the portfolio item and I start navigating through using the arrows, it includes items outside of that Project Category. Is there a way to prevent that to only page through items within the selected Project Category?

First off – phenomenal theme – this theme is a privilege to work with.
A bit stumped at the moment:
Why does this slider’s font + buttons (http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-frostwave/home-multi-layer-parallax/) appear bigger on a smartphone than this slider (http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-frostwave/).
Having a hard time reading my text / buttons on a smartphone but the first example is nice and big.

The text sizes scales down proportional to the rest of the slider to ensure no clipping on the image. Unlike row BG’s, a lot of people need their slider images to not get clipped at all so the scaling of everything inside must shrink to accommodate. If you want to change that look for these rules in the mobile viewport in the responsive.css stylesheet located in the css folder.

Can you please advise on how to remove the “back to all” link and right and left arrows from the single portfolio page’s code? Which lines should I delete?
Something else I would like to try is having the portfolio project just like a single page without any header. Is that possible?
The reason why I want to do this is because we won’t have a portfolio gallery on our page, but we have our products as portfolio projects to be able to showcase them on the Recent Projects element in some specific pages.
