Just bought the theme not long ago – using the ethos template atm. How do you change the background color from the default white to something else? Thanks, -Chris
Hi Chris,
This video on our Knowledge Base explains the ins and outs of Ethos.
To change that particular setting you go under Ethos > Background Options > Background Color in the Customizer.
Should you need anything further, a member of our development team will be happy to assist in the forums. Cheers!
Hi, I changed the background color, but it still remains the default white. I don’t see any option for or whatever was sent to me in an email. Thanks
Hi There,
Not sure what you mean by “I don’t see any option for or whatever was sent to me in an email,” but going to that section of the Customizer when Ethos is active is what changes the background color, so if it is not working, please make sure you are using the latest version of the theme and that you’ve tested deactivating any 3rd party plugins as there are no known issues related to the background color not working.
Should you need anything further, please open a thread in the forum, and a member of our development team can help look into this.
Cheers!
Hi, I’m just wondering if BuddyPress can be integrated with your theme? Thanks
Hi There,
We do not have integrated styling support for BuddyPress at this time, however it is coming very soon
Okay great, thanks
You bet!
Hi There,
Just wanted to let you know that our latest release includes integration with BuddyPress. I know you had expressed interest in the past for this functionality, so we wanted to let you know it’s now available. It works with all Stacks (the unique designs built into X), and you can see an example of how it looks in this demo (Integrity Stack) by hovering over the person icon in the menu.
Cheers!
A couple of questions:
Can this theme add top menus and even another menu other than the primary menu in the header?
Does it support the layered navigation for WooCommerce on product catalog pages? To do this, I think sidebars need to be attached to post types. I think someone had mentioned that this might not be possible with this theme.
Thanks!
Hi Bill,
X includes a header and a footer menu. There is an additional area we call that “Top Bar” that sits above the primary navigation. It doesn’t support a WordPress menu, and X mainly uses it for social icons. But you can add whatever you like via HTML, so it’s possible to add more links.
Regarding the WooCommerce question, absolutely! X has a shop specific sidebar that can be configured to show on the main shop page and the product category pages. It wasn’t possible previously, but this has been added in a recent update.
Should you need anything further, a member of our development team will be happy to assist in the forums. Cheers, my friend!

Hi, is there a way to have the vertical menu of Icon 07 aligned to the left? Now it’s in the center.
Thanks! Gille
Hi Guys, love the theme but I am trying to use Ethos 2 and I can’t seem to find out how to make it scroll as it does in the demo as one page. I just want all the pages underneath each other as they are in the demo. Can you point me in the right direction of how to do this?
Thanks!!
Hi Elise,
Thank-you for the kind words

Hi ThemeCo,
I’m looking at X Theme for an upcoming project that will be using SSL sitewide. I tried to go to the https versions of your pages and it appears you have an SLL cert from DigiCert loaded on your server but most of your pages are using mixed secure and insecure content. I took a look at the page source code and see several http:// urls in the code.
For example, the following urls are not showing as secure connections with the green lock symbol. Instead they have a grey unlocked symbol/caution triangle symbol (depending on which browser): https://theme.co/x/demo/shop/integrity/checkout/ https://theme.co/x/demo/shop/icon/checkout/ https://theme.co/x/demo/shop/ethos/cart/ This is the only secure page I found with the green lock symbol: https://theme.co/x/demo/shop/renew/checkout/I’m just wondering: 1) Why are you wouldn’t be using your SSL cert for all your pages since you have one? Is this intentional because there is some http: urls that are needed for the pages to look good or work properly? 2) Are those http:// urls going to be a pain for me to go though and change to https: urls for a site that uses https for all the pages. 3) What benefit if any are you getting by using mixed secure and insecure content on your commerce site examples? Those are supposed to simulate a shopping experience so, I’m wondering why wouldn’t you use only https content on those pages?
Thanks for addressing my question about themco’s easy of use with SSL certs and https: urls with the lock symbol.
Dave,
We have configured an SSL cert for certain parts of our site that require this (where sensitive information is being processed). We do not have it configured for all aspects of the site due to the fact that the majority of our site is informational in nature.
X can certainly be configured with an SSL cert according to all industry standards, however this is not something a theme handles as it is done with a SSL provider post purchase.
Cheers!
“We have configured an SSL cert for certain parts of our site that require this (where sensitive information is being processed).”
Please point me to what areas are those “certain parts” ?
These checkout pages ask for sensitive information: https://theme.co/x/demo/shop/integrity/checkout/ https://theme.co/x/demo/shop/icon/checkout/ https://theme.co/x/demo/shop/ethos/checkout/Those are not actual checkout pages rather example shop pages as they are in our Demo section. The areas that the SSL pertains to on theme.co do not have anything to do with the sale of X as that is handled through Envato (which has their own security measures in place).
Hmm… I don’t feel like my questions were really answered.
“this is not something a theme handles as it is done with a SSL provider post purchase.”
I’ve applied an SSL cert with a WordPress theme before and it can be a pain if theme is using calls with http: urls that have to be manually changed.
Argue with me if you’d like about your example checkout pages not properly using an SSL cert but those pages should be secure and using the SSL cert precisely because they are for “example shop” pages. If it’s easy to apply then why wouldn’t you on your “shop” pages? I understand they are demo but a good shopping demo should use an SSL cert.
I’m not asking “if” your theme can work will an SSL cert. I’m asking about the easy of integration. I get the impression that you yourself have not applied an SSL cert to a site using one of your themes. Otherwise you be able to better describe why this page works https://theme.co/x/demo/shop/renew/checkout/ and this one doesn’t https://theme.co/x/demo/shop/integrity/checkout/. Same exapmle page but one works with the SSL cert the other does not.
Do you have any examples of websites that use X Theme on a site with SSL and a green lock symbol?
Thanks
Dave,
We are certainly not trying to argue with you on this point, simply hoping to clarify that while these are intended to be functional examples, they are not a active portals where we receive any sensitive customer information. They are merely demos to showcase the theme’s functionality. Setting up SSL is something that is independent of the theme itself and is handled between a user, SSL certificate provider, and their hosting company.
If you’ll check the examples provided, you should see that the “warning” you referenced previously is no longer present. You were correct in stating that this typically implies that some content is being served over an insecure connection (i.e. “http://”) on a secure page. Allow me to take some time to run through what was going on.
Our shop demos were previously managed on an individual basis quite some time ago as we were launching the theme. More recently we moved them into a multi-site installation in an effort to more closely monitor them and more easily manage them. In the process of moving the shop demos from individual demos to being included in a multi-site demo, the minor mistake of updating each demo’s Siteurl option is what was causing this error. Upon updating this option to be prefixed with “https://” instead of “http://,” we were able to take care of this immediately.
X handles all data that it manages as intelligently as possible. One method of this involves the use of protocol-relative URLs on items such as fonts and items from the Customizer (i.e. theme-specific features). You will notice that the difference between the demo pages you sent is that Renew’s checkout page (and shop in general) has no sidebar, while the other three do. The “insecure” content that was being sent to the page was actually the thumbnails being processed, handled, and output by WooCommerce in the WooCommerce sidebar widgets due to our minor typographical oversight for the Siteurl option.
While X handles all of the elements it can in this manner, we cannot affect much change in the way WooCommerce handles these items or the way that users input content onto a page (for instance, a hard-coded image with an “http://” link in the content of a page—such as your footer—could cause such an error, but the theme has no way of handling or managing such content). This is not an error with the theme or the plugin necessarily, simply a mistyped setting leading to a “warning” that is often easily remedied as it was here.
If you’re only setting up parts of your site to utilize an https:// connect, we recommend utilizing a plugin such as WordPress HTTPS (SSL), as it can help in this regard greatly. Otherwise, if you’re doing a sitewide implementation as we have done in our demonstration examples that you have cited, simply ensuring that all theme settings are implemented correctly will result in the desired outcome for these types of pages.
Thanks!
Thank you for answering my questions about X Themes ease of use with SSL in a more complete way.
“updating each demo’s Siteurl option is what was causing this error.”
^This is helpful.
“X handles all data that it manages as intelligently as possible. One method of this involves the use of protocol-relative URLs on items such as fonts and items from the Customizer (i.e. theme-specific features).”
^This is also helpful to know. So, does this mean that you would be able to implement the use of SSL sitewide on your stacks like this https://theme.co/x/demo/renew/1/ but simply updating each demo’s Siteurl option?
Thanks again for your clarification.
Dave,
That is indeed the case as that’s what we’ve done here. Remember that we can’t account for things such as hard-coded elements that you’ve placed into content or widget areas yourself (such as images in the examples above). You will need to make sure to administer all of that properly when setting up your site as there is no way for us to control such elements.
Thanks!
hello,
Im trying to purchase this theme but neither type of payment is being accepted and ive contacted envato support twice. Know whats up?
~ohia
Well that’s not good
Regretfully, this isn’t something we can help directly with as the payments are handled/processed by Envato. Has support gotten back with you yet?
Nope. It’s been three days and I submitted another ticket yesterday. Neither of the payment gateways are working.
I’m sorry to hear that. I know they can be a bit delayed in getting back, however if you don’t hear anything back in the next 24 hours send us an email, and we’ll see if we can help inquire as to what is going on.
Many thanks, my friend!
I still have not heard from anyone. Have tried multiple cards and paypal account with plenty of scrilla available for purchase. I really need this theme ASAP.
Please contact us using the link above, and we’ll do what we can to assist.
Hi!
I am a director of a music ensemble and am interested in buying this theme. However, I was wondering if there is the possibility to have two stacks working on the page? The page I’m building is meant to have a more static part (bio, agenda, programs and media) but also a more blog part since we are also interested in publishing some texts. It would be great that most of the site would be done with Integrity (static) but that the blog part would use Ethos that looks really gorgeous.
Is that possible?
PS – do you have any demos of the theme specific for musicians?
Hi There,
It is not possible to mix/match Stacks as they are completely unique designs with their own features. There is one band website that comes to mind, so if you send us an email, we can send you some more info on this. Cheers!
Hey
That’s a real shame.
Would it be possible perhaps to do a second install in a sub-domain (.com/blog) and connect it to my main one (.com)? Or would this cause problems with the speed?
Probably it also goes against your licence terms.
Anyway I sent you an email and would be really happy to know your suggestion.
Thanks for the support!
Cheers!
You’re most welcome!
Yes, you could do that, however you would have multiple installs to manage then and it would not necessarily be desirable from a user interface point of view given the different look/feel of each Stack.
Hi there ,i am sorry i might have missed the answer to my question please,as i didnt see an answer to it,i intend to have a strict video sharing site, would this theme be flexible for having Customization to have the theme strictly for video sharing please ,has it got a native video up loader and ect please i was going t buy( Bee Tube) theme for video sharing, but since i have come across this theme ,i am love to have this for Video sharing rather than anything else. Thank you
Hi There,
You can display self hosted or 3rd party hosted videos, however there is no front end video uploader (for users).
Cheers!
Hi, i have purchased this most amazing! theme and already installed it on my site http://theflaticon.com , but after installing the theme there’s continuously showing this text “continue reading at” when anyone switch on the site, on my admin panel and after loading the site the text appearing at the top of header bar, you can see this by visiting my site – http://theflaticon.com .

Please hellp me to integrate “user reviews” on a web page(integrity), like as shop review. Thanks!
Hi, I have purchased this and I would like to access the support area but it doesn’t recognise any of my login details and says I have already registered when I put the license code in, but will not send me any sort of password reset!
I have access the support area before and downloaded a demo. So I am not sure why now I cannot…
Please advise as I am on a deadline.
Hi There,
Feel free contact us, and we can send over instructions for verifying your account. Cheers!
One more question: do you have filterable portfolio? I haven’t found one.
Thanks, I saw all the demos, but haven’t noticed portfolio with filters. Thanks for pointing out.
Surely
Hello again,
I have another question: can I customize the colors of the background content and header content independently? Like here, for example: http://take.ms/VDhnk
I mean, one color/background image for the header, another for the content, another for the footer.
When using the Renew Stack, you can set a different background color for the header area. Please take some time to read the unique features for each Stack by clicking on Integrity Features, Renew Features, etc at the bottom of our demo section.
So this option is only for Renew Stack, right?
Correcto
But can I add filterable portfolios to Icon Stack with a help of some developer?
All Stacks have a filterable portfolio as shown on the Portfolio pages of each demo.
Thanks, all clear now!
Sure, please be sure to check out all the demos/features as the vast majority of things are covered/explained there. Cheers!
Hi, where I can see preview of selling store version live?
Hi There,
If you are looking for the WooCommerce design, there is one for each Stack, and you can see it at the bottom of the demo section.
Hello,
If I have laid out a website using, say, Icon stack and then I switch to another, what will happen? Will my efforts be completely lost? Or it will be ok, only stack design will be changed, but my layout will be perfectly in place?
Hi! Was very interested in buying your theme. Just one question…... Is there the capability to add a photo/video carousel to appear under the main photo in a blog post?
Thanks! ;-D
Hi There,
We have a Responsive Slider option that might work for you (for images). Let us know if you need anything further, my friend!
