I would like to use only some feature of “Ascent” theme like the ajax loading and animation, is that possible ?
1. How can I use the css animation loading without using “Ascent” ? When disable “Ascent” I get the old gif loading.
2. I also changed the loading gif for NectarSlider. Can I use the “Ascent” css loading animation for NectarSlider ? — Or maybe disable the the NectarSlider loading animation and only use le ajax loading ?
3. I want also to know if the ajax loading show the page if the slider images are not loaded ? — Or only when everything is loaded ?
4. I still have trouble for my images strategy about HDPI screens because I’m a photographer and want the best mix from quality and bandwidth. So I decide to use boxed layout (max with 1000px), but I don’t understand the choice you made for mobile display : the boxed layout still have the margin outside the box content. On mobile display, the screen is already small and I think is a waste of horizontal spaces. How to get rid of the margins ?

1/2. Unfortunately it’s not possible to take that loading icon without modding the files since it’s there’s logic in place for all elements that use it to only show it if the ascend skin is active.
3. The AJAX loading with fade in the new page prior to the slider finishing loading – that will still continue with it’s normal load in event.
4. Try adding this into the custom css box located in your Salient Options panel:
@media only screen and (max-width: 1000px) {
body #boxed {
width: 100%!important;
}
}

We would like to modify the theme but we know that after updating it will we might lose the changes.
We want to add a custom navigation bar above the header which will link through to our network of websites. We think the way to do it, is by including a custom file in the templates header file, is there a better way of doing it?

This would indeed require a mod to the header.php file – if you did the mod in a child theme you wouldn’t have to worry about it getting overwritten with updates though

I keep getting this message when trying to save a post:
Connection lost. Saving has been disabled until you’re reconnected. We’re backing up this post in your browser, just in case.
It happens when you hit ‘Update’ and the post does not save – instead the page in my browser goes down and is blank.
I have contacted my hosting and they said its likely to be a WordPress related issue, maybe a plugin.
Have you experience this and how can I resolve this?

Unfortunately I haven’t heard reports of that before to shed light – but have you indeed tried disabling you plugins & also switching themes to rule everything out?

Yes I have just tried that and the problem is still happening. I can save pages etc its just on the Post’s that there is an issue.

Hey again – just to clarify, are you saying that the issue still occurs both when plugins are off & Salient is not the active theme?
Hey, yes that is the case, I tried deactivating all the plugins and switching to the default theme and still the same.
It basically started happening this week all of a sudden – I hadn’t installed any new plugins recently either.
As it stands I can’t save post’s – all pages and everything else is fine.
I can save a post once in a blue moon which is making it possible to add new ones but then 95% of the time the same error appears.

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately since it’s not Salient specific it’s hard for me to troubleshoot – it sounds as though your WP install might be corrupt. I’ve created a jump down the page button (View my work) which works on mobile but not on desktop, it’s as if it is ignoring the header.
Here is the site, click on the ‘view my work’ button (on a desktop) and you’ll see what I mean, it cuts off half of the slider.

that’s occurring because of the nature of a fixed header (anchors will not take that into consideration at all) – there are workarounds though http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10732690/offsetting-an-html-anchor-to-adjust-for-fixed-header

How difficult would it be to create two different post templates that enables the use of both the cover image post style and the variable header size post style on different posts?
It seems a bit of a shame that its an either/or situation at the minute.

It would indeed require development – essentially some sort of checkbox option would be needed on the single post creation page to toggle between the styles and then the logic that sets the style in the functions.php file would need to take that into account.

Is there a way to retain the header transparent when not scrolled down. Then header header scrolls goes up just like the normal websites, when user scrolls down. Only viewing contents of the page without the header fixed?

If you don’t want the header to be fixed you’d have to add this into the custom css box:
#header-outer {
position: absolute!important;
}
however to have the header remain transparent, it would require some custom modding to the init.js file as the logic in place is going to switch that to the solid BG as soon as you scroll at all.

Hi again – I have made phone to a bigger font and made is it bolder. After I did that I noticed that you cant directly mouse over on the “Contact Us and Link Tabls” it can only be hovered when you put the mouse a couple of space lower… How can this be fixed?

Just one question about “Ascend” where I didn’t find an answer.. Is there any way I can back the small arrows in the navigation to show that there are more pages in the sub menu? Because now you cannot make a difference if it is a single page or has a sub menu..

Im trying to develop a site in China using the template but because of the google fonts its taking forever to load, can you please tell me how to remove everythign to do with Google please?

no fonts will load from Google if you have the custom typography option off in your typography options tab in the Salient options panel – do you have any fonts selected in that section?

For some reason, my portfolio section won’t let me have a Nectar Slider on it. When I enable it, it hides the portfolio section. And the portfolio categories are in a drop down menu. How can I change this to full width like on the demo?

Instead of using the portfolio page layout in the page attributes box, just use a portfolio element inside of Visual Composer so you can control what’s above it
Also once you use the VC portfolio element – just select the fullwidth option for the layout and horizontal filter display options to get the look you’re after.

Hi … if i leave the name section blank in the team member element it puts the word ‘Name’ (or something similar) on the page. I want to be able to have it blank with no word appearing. Please tell me how to do this.
Also i wanted to test it with wording but want the nane and job title to be lower down the picture.how do i do this?
P.s. also how to make the words “Job Position” not appear when i leave it blank

you can activate the transparent header option in your header options tab of the Salient options panel. Once that’s active, all pages that use a page header with a BG color/image or have a Nectar Slider at the top will trigger the effect automatically

On the Edit Row shortcode panel, there is an option to “Make all columns in this row vertically centered” for the Type:Full Width Content setting. Is there a way to do this for Type:Full Width Background?
The reason I ask is because I don’t want full width content, but I do want the background colors to go edge to edge. Currently on left half of the row the background is white and on the other half I have a background color specified. Because the content is slightly longer on the left column, the background on the right column doesn’t run all the way to the bottom, it stops short. I basically want the background color to run to the bottom without adding artificial padding or a divider as that messes up the responsive presentation.

Unfortunately that wouldn’t be possible through the option you’re seeking. I would recommend simply setting a BG image on your full width background row type that has the split colors in it similar to this
