Hi Nectar. When using the Portfolio element – Full Width – Constrain to 4 items, the images look huge when the screen width gets smaller. I didn’t notice this with your demo version, Landing Page. Is there something that could be causing the images to display really big? Thanks as always!
Hey Joe!
Is there anyway you can share your URL so I can take a peek at how things are looking on your end?
Cheers
HEllo,
Is their an easy fix to have a full width background image rotate through a few images but keep the foreground elements static?
Hey clixgroup,
unfortunately this would require some custom css development as you would need to place a Nectar Slider element and in the same row as your other foreground desired elements and then use css to make the nectar slider go behind the other elements with an approach like position:absolute
Cheers
Thinking about purchasing but I was wondering if it was possible to change the width of the pages in order to display the background a little more?
Hey TREDAKING! You can reduce the main content max width by a few hundred pixels like this demo displays themenectar.com/demo/salient but going even further than that would require custom css.
Hi!
I got a question about the menu in the header. Is it customizable, as in adding a different hover effect? (For example: an arrow on the bottom of the current page)
Thanks!
Hey mwo!
This would require custom css – there are no other hover effects included as options by default.
Cheers
Hi Nectar,
I’m working on a very basic Contact page with an image contained in a Nectar slider followed by the contact form. I have a row for the Nectar slider, and a row after it for the contact form code. I’m seeing a lot of margin between the slider/form and the form/footer. How can I reduce this space? I currently have the Contact Form row set with 10% padding, could this be contributing to the excess margin?
That is to say, the row is a single column with 10% column padding. I’m continuing to tinker with it, and if I reduce the column padding to zero I get the space between slider/footer that I’m looking for, but I lose the padding on the sides that I wanted. Suggestions?
Hey mikelapierre!
Firstly, assure your rows are set to either full width background or full width content – this will ensure no bottom margin gets automatically added to them. Can you share your URL after you’ve done so I can take a look?
Cheers
Changing the Contact Form row to full width background seems to have done the trick for the bottom margin. Here’s the URL…
http://74.220.219.130/~lifeinz5/contact-2/Thanks for all your help!
Thanks! I would recommend changing that to 3% since 10% of the browser window is creating too much space as you’ve seen. You can also use a px value – I believe something around “80” would be good as well
Got it looking good, thanks Nectar!
Glad to hear
Cheers
hi Salient, I installed the theme today, but it was failed because of missing file “style.css”. Actually, I’m not good at english, so I couldn’t find the solution to fix. How can I fix it?
I did it by myself.
Never mind.
Hey kangspike, glad you figured it out
Hi Nectar. A few questions please. 1) Is there a way to disable the sidebar for specific blog pages? I know that some themes have this option on the post page. I have a few post pages that need a full row. 2) On the hover+zoom effect, is there a way to disable the parallax-type mouse effect and just keep the zoom. The movement seems a bit choppy sometimes when moving the mouse over the image. Thanks as always!
Sorry, one more question please. 3) For the Recent Projects – Full Width Carousel, it seems to default to 3 items per row. Is there a way to show 4 items instead? Thank you!
Hey Joe,
1. As of now it’s a global option that would require some custom development to turn on/off on a per post basis.
2. In the init.js file search for all instances of ”.panr” and try to change the sensitivity to 0
3. The recent projects element actually adjusts the column number depending on the users screen size – if you want to tweak it further, you can make the mod in the init.js at the carousel section
Cheers
Hi there again,
It looks like when we change the Page Header Font Color on a blog post the social icons change to follow that color, which is perfectly fine, except the Linkedin icon isn’t changing – it goes to white no matter what color we assign. The roll over state works but the regular state goes to white.
Any idea how we can fix that so it will change color like the other social icons in the header?
Thanks for your time! All the best.
-SOS
Hey SOS! That is indeed a bug – to quickfix it before next release, add this into the custom css box located in your Salient Options panel:
body #page-header-bg a.linkedin-share i {
color: #fff;
}
I appreciate the support and effort but that didn’t seem to do the trick. Here is exactly what we currently have in the custom css box – just in case there is something getting in the way:
.n-shortcode, .nectar-love-wrap { display: none!important; }
.meta-comment-count { display: none!important; }
.meta-author { display: none!important; }
body #page-header-bg a.linkedin-share i { color: #fff; }
Thanks again for your time
Hey!
Anyway you can share your URL so I can see why it’s not applying right on your end?
Sure. Here is a post where we’ve changed the header font color and the Linkedin icon didn’t follow suit – http://www.chutegerdeman.com/jewel-desert/
Sorry – the snippet is right but you just need to change the hex color to match
body #page-header-bg a.linkedin-share i {
color: #414141;
}
I see. So we wouldn’t be able to have different font header colors for different posts? We can probably deal with that for the time being. Thanks again for the great support.
You could add that snippet into the post itself in the css box inside visual composer instead of the theme options panel to get it to work on a post by post basis – but the fix for this will be out this week as well
Hi there,
I would like to know if you’ll update font-awesome to 4.1.0? Or is there a way to update it ourselves?
I’ve already tried to replace the old Font Awesome css and fonts files with the new one but that didn’t do the trick.
Thnaks in advance.
Hey monotoonn!
that’s because the newer font awesome has an entirely different naming convention setup so the fundamental code in the icon shortcodes would also need to be changed to make it work. The problem with implementing this in an update is that it would require all users to replace their current font awesome icons on their pages to get the new naming structure. If you include the newer font awesome file you could still use it manually, just not through the shortcode generator.
Cheers
Hey,
Found them and edited them all to the new icon shortcodes and everything is working now except through the shortcode generator like you said.
Thanks for your reply.
Glad to hear!
hi Salient, is the possibility to insert a animated logo? the logo is in edge Animate created. Thanks in advance.
Hey luci30,
I haven’t personally used that program before – what’s the output file of the program? It is a .gif or css3/scripting?
Cheers
edge animate create a html5/css3/javascript animation
I want instead the logo to insert a HTML5 animation
In that case you’d just need to add the code it gives you into the header.php file – just search for “logo” in the file to end up at the right place
Hi ThemeNectar,
I’m currently looking to upgrade my hosting from a generic plan with GoDaddy to a managed WordPress solution from a company like WP Engine or Pagely. Most of these hosts cache their sites and serve them over a CDN.
I’m not an expert on those topics, so I wanted to double-check that Salient will run smoothly and the caching won’t present any issues with the theme or bundled plugins. Although I’ve had great experiences with Salient so far, I know that sometimes caching can cause headaches. I want to be sure that out of the box Salient will be ready to excel on a managed host that utilizes caching and other WordPress perks.
Are there any particular hosts you would recommend or suggestions for consideration when weighing my options for a managed WordPress host?
Thanks, ThemeNectar! I’m looking forward to using Salient when I get setup on my new host.
Best,
Ryan
Hey Ryan!
There’s no issue with caching itself, the only thing you’d need to look out for is auto-minification of css/js. Sometimes that can cause issues – but I assume if that hosting company offers that feature it would be optional so there should be no worries
Cheers
ThemeNectar,
Awesome, thanks for the helpful feedback! I’ll be sure to watch out for auto-minification of css/js
Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
salient, can i get the pastebin code for the Ascend demo??
Hey tiyo, the ascend dummy data file is included with your download from ThemeForest which you can import to get all the pages. If you are looking for just a specific page I can however provide it through pastebin
can i pls have the data file for this page; http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-ascend/
ps: im afraid by uploading the dummy data will mess up my current config/settings. thank you, t

Hi, I’m desperate for an answer to my problem! My ticket no is #256972. Essentially I don’t have the second line of editing buttons in the visual composer, and I am finding it very hard to style my text correctly.
Please help!! Thanks, Katherine
Hey Katherine!
The support staff seems to have answered with the solution around the same time you posted this comment

Is it possible to do just a single centered widget in the footer? What would I need to change in the footer.php?
Hey danielaronson, you’d need to delete all the columns except for one in the footer-widgets section and then change that column size to span_12
WooCommerce Shop Hello ThemeNectar, I just started using your theme and it is amazing. I’m at a bit of an impasse with the woocommerce shop. In my product categories I will be having upwards of 150 items per page and I can not for the life of me figure out how to display more than 4 columns worth at a time. I have searched the comments here for some custom CSS with no luck. I believe each product displays at 292×292 and I’d like to be as small as 100×100 (ideally 9 columns). Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.
http://layoutartsupply.com/product-category/94/ps. I have had a little luck playing with .woocommerce ul.products li.products width but I still get stuck with 4 columns.
Hey stuartwmoore!
What is your desired column number to view on desktop views? I’d be glad to assist with the css
Cheers
My desired column number to view on desktop view is 10. Thank you
(I’ve been playing around with it while I waited and am starting to get something that resembles what I want)
Add this into the custom css box located in your Salient Options panel
@media only screen and (min-width: 1000px) {
html .woocommerce ul.products li.product, html .woocommerce-page ul.products li.product,
html .woocommerce .products.related .product, html .woocommerce .products.upsells .product{
margin-bottom: 1.7%;
margin-right: 1.7% !important;
width: 8.4% !important;
}
html .woocommerce .products.related ul.products li.product.last, .woocommerce-page .products.related ul.products li.product.last, .woocommerce-page ul.products li.product.last, .woocommerce ul.products li.product.last {
margin-right: 1.7% !important;
clear:none!important;
}
html .woocommerce ul.products li:nth-child(10n+10) {
margin-right:0!important;
clear:none!important;
}
html .woocommerce ul.products li:nth-child(11n+1) {
clear:both!important;
}
.woocommerce ul.products li.first, .woocommerce-page ul.products li.first {
clear: none !important;
}
}
I think I figured some things out, you can ignore me
Hey again, glad to hear you sorted it
This is by far the best theme that I have ever purchased. Great product & great service!
Thanks! -KM
Thanks a lot kidmarvel, that’s awesome to hear!
hi guys, hope u can help me. Theres is a new Version of Salient (ascend-mode). how can i update it?
Another Question: How can i make the font on the portfolio page exactly like yours on http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-ascend/portfolio/mobile-weather-app/
i mean ” mobile weather app”
thanks!
Hey YES-die-Hochzeitsband!
1. You can update by downloading a fresh copy from ThemeForest, deleting the current version you have on your server and uploading the new. I recommend using FTP, but you can use the WP dashboard if you prefer. You won’t lose any of your content or theme settings so don’t worry about that if you were
2. You can set the page heading font to “Lovelo” in the typography options tab in your Salient options panel and also assign a decently large size, such as 60px
Cheers
Hi, I am using this code snippet in CSS to modify the width of the container @media only screen and (min-width: 1100px) { .container { max-width: 1325px!important; } } But even the header is adjusting according to this width, I want only the contents other than header and footer , to use this container size . Could you please guide on how to do this.
Thank you !
Hey vivekviga!
Change your snippet to be:
@media only screen and (min-width: 1100px) { .container-wrap .container { max-width: 1325px!important; } }
Cheers
Thank you very much ThemeNectar, that works !! But I am having one more issue with this now. I am working on a 22inch Monitor and my goal is to align the container to a bunch of images. 1325px is a hard coded value that works when I am seeing it full screen, When I resize the browser the alignment is broken how can I maintain the responsive design using percentages ?.
Good to hear!
Anyway you can share your URL so I can get a better idea of how it’s breaking?
Cheers
Yup, I just sent a message to you with the link. Hope you got it .
Did you send it through the contact form on my profile or to themenectar@gmail.com ? I can’t seem to locate any mail from your username.
I sent it through the contact form on themeforest. I will send it again to gmail now.
I have sent it on gmail just now.
Thanks, just got it
Is there anyway you can attach a quick screenshot portraying the issue at hand as well?
Yup sent the screenshot.
Thanks – so are you just trying to keep the three columns of text aligned with the portfolio element above it? I think I might still not be crystal clear on what the end goal is
Yes you are right, just trying to keep it aligned with the portfolio element, but the problem is, when the browser window is re-sized the alignment breaks because the container size is hard-coded like here, @media only screen and (min-width: 1100px) { .container-wrap .container { max-width: 1325px!important; } } I needed to know if there is a way I can do the above by using percentages, so that even if I re-size the window the alignment remains intact. I hope its clear now.
Hey again!
Activate the extended responsive design option in your general settings tab of the Salient options panel: (modify the max width as needed)
body .container {
max-width: 1525px;
}
Hi, I need help setting out the woo commerce pages on my website with Salient. Can I get some help?
Hey ajkhansa,
the entire WooCommerce setup used on the demo was imported from the default plugin dummy data – please see this in regards http://docs.woothemes.com/document/importing-woocommerce-dummy-data/
Cheers
Hello,
I recently updated to Salient 4.5.1 in hopes of applying some of the new Ascend features (they look great by the way). However, after I updated the theme, and uploaded the dummy data, I still cannot seem to find the Ascend demo. Am I misinformed in thinking that there was a demo page similar to the Ascend demo featured on the Salient Live Preview? Or did I just mess something up trying to upload it?
I am most interested in the parallax effected thumbnails from the portfolio pieces on the Ascend demo.
Hey bl4stb34ts!
Did you upload the dummy data file from the ascend dummy data folder? Also the project style you’re looking for is called “Title overlaid w/ zoom effect on hover” – you can choose it with any portfolio element you place through Visual Composer
Cheers
I did. I used the import tool, and selected the XML file from the Ascend dummy folder, but when I upload it, it says that certain pages already exist. Maybe that has something to do with it? but there was nothing listed titled Ascend amoung the listen pages that already existed, nor after it tells me that everything is completed.
If you already have pages in your setup with the same names, those from the new dummy data file won’t import. You’d need to first delete your old pages – also when they do import they won’t have the name “ascend” prepended to the page titles – they will be named exactly as they show on the demo e.g. “Home – Landing Page” etc.
Thank you so much! I have one other question. I have built the top navigation for my page with anchor points that take the viewer to certain points on a one page layout. I have secondary pages for each portfolio section, and I want to add a different menu to the top of these pages that link back to the home page. I have built two separate menus, one with anchors and one with links and anchors for the portfolio, but I cannot figure out how to apply each menu to its respective page. I can only seem to apply one or the other. Any suggestions?
Hey again!
You’d essentially need to edit the header.php file and create a conditional to switch menu locations based on where you’re at in the site – there might be a plugin for this, but some integration into that file would probably still be needed.
That would work if you made the top menu just a widget area instead of a menu location – if not, here’s a sample conditional for the header.php
<?php if(is_single()) {
wp_nav_menu( array('walker' => new Nectar_Arrow_Walker_Nav_Menu, 'theme_location' => 'portfolio_nav', 'container' => '', 'items_wrap' => '%3$s' ) );
} else {
wp_nav_menu( array('walker' => new Nectar_Arrow_Walker_Nav_Menu, 'theme_location' => 'top_nav', 'container' => '', 'items_wrap' => '%3$s' ) );
}?>
You’re the bomb! Thank you
You’re welcome
I got another one for ya (sorry for all the questions). For some reason the portfolio thumbnails with the style “title overlaid with zoom effect on hover” don’t actually zoom or move around the thumbnail. It lightens the image when I mouse over, but no zoom. Any suggestions?
Also, I have my blog posts set to Excerpts becuase of the length of some of the posts, but I would still like the images to show in the truncated version. Is this possible?
Hey again,
1. Have you checked to ensure no plugins are conflicting?
2. Unfortunately this wouldn’t be possible without some modding since by default excepts will only show text & exclude any other media
Cheers
