Hi, first of all thanks for the awesome theme and continuous development of it. It has many improvements since the beginning.

I would like to display my normal posts on the following way: The four latest blogposts in 4 blocks on one row with the style of [ Be my guest ] and [ Ownage ] but than four. Shown on the following demo page, but there they are portfolio items instead of posts.

They would have to show the foto. the title ( and small the date & author ) http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-ascend/

And after you click on a post I would also like my normal posts to display as the following portfolio item http://themenectar.com/demo/salient-ascend/the-field/

How do I get this done if I may ask?

Hey ncvdv,

1. The display of portfolio items/posts on that page was created using the portfolio element – some of the projects in it were just using the external url option to link them to blog posts instead of portfolio items. Unfortunately this would be the only way to get that look as of now since there’s no default functionality to display blog posts automatically with portfolio styling yet.

2. That’s a standard blog post with the ascend skin selected in the general settings tab of the Salient options panel & the fullscreen header selected in the blog options tab :)

Cheers

Hey love!

Can you tell me why my slider image is blurry? Have tried at various sizes, upto 700×1600 and stull blurrrrry: http://www.rosaimcgill.com/

z

You’re a champ ty xxxxx

Oh also, can you tell my why the nectar slider isnt sliding? The “Home” slider in admin DOES slide, but it breaks styling on the below content blocks so have used nectar slider on home..have 2 slides but only one shows! both set correctly!

Hey again!

It appears your Nectar Slider has no autorotation set and also the arrows, pagination bullets and desktop swipe off. So essentially there’s no way to control it – edit the Nectar Slider element in your page builder and turn on one or a combination of those items and it should be fine :)

Hi, is there some better documentation (step-by-step) for Salient? Current one is totally useless :)

Which Home template I should use to looks like the Ascent demo? When I choose Home – Slider… or any other instead of Default template, there is only black empty slider on top. When I choose Default template, there is only grey empty slider on top. I’ve created proper Nectar Sliders with background etc. but NOTHING happening in any case.

This is not proper documentation: “Nectar Slider – Offers most options of the home slider plus options for video backgrounds, Can be instanced an unlimited number of times with various locations, hardware accelerated, touch-friendly, configuration options for pagination & arrows.” There should be written how to setup :)

I really looked forward to Salient, but it’s big disappointment for me.

Hello :)

Assuming you don’t want to import the dummy data file to get all the layouts from the demo to learn from/use, it would be highly recommended that you go through at least some of the video tutorials to get a better grip on how to build with Salient. The home templates are not the correct way to place a Nectar Slider & none of those templates in the page attributes box will reflect any of the layouts from the Ascend demo – those templates are just quick ways to create basic home pages seen on the original demo and make use of the Home Slider not the Nectar Slider. All of the newer demos use the page builder (visual composer) or shortcodes to place the various theme elements.

Also, in regards to the segment you’ve pasted from the user guide – there’s bold text directly under that which states “For detailed guides on using both of these sliders please refer to video tutorial series here

Amazing Theme. Thx! But I Have one question. I would like to increase the height of the portfolio items. They should look likes squares on the main page and in portfolio section. Where can I change this?

Thanks ImageResult!

You can modify the image sizes in the functions.php – just search for “portfolio-thumb” to end up at the right line to change. Once you’ve modified that just regenerate your images in order to have the sizes created. https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

Cheers :)

Thanks mate! Now it’s awesome. :D

Good to hear :)

Hey what is the procedure of updating from v2 to v4?

Please see my response to your previous comment in regards :)

Hey what is the procedure of updating from v2 to v4?

Hey iclclifetv,

You can update by downloading a fresh copy from ThemeForest, deleting the current version you have on your server and uploading the new. I recommend using FTP, but you can use the WP dashboard if you prefer. You won’t lose any of your content or theme settings so don’t worry about that if you were :)

bummer. I was all set to buy – but no Revolution Slider.

Would it work if I tried to install Revolution Slider myself – I bought both WordPress and jQuery versions of Rev Slider – as a plugin?

Just checking.

Nice work. Hope it is possible.

Hi. Just saw this was already answered. Missed it yesterday. Even gave a link for implementing the Revolution Slider.

Thanks for your patience.

Hey USEYOURHEAD, glad you found the answer! :)

Cheers

Hi, I’ve searched the archives and here as well but no luck

In the Nectar slider, using the “Fade” transition, how can I change the speed of the actual transition itself? I know “speed: 525” in the nectar-slider.js works when “slide” type transition is selected, but doesn’t work when “fade” is selected. Thanks.

Hey kylepink,

For the fade transition you’re going to want to alter the line:
 speed: 900,
– the one you listed is actually for the slide transition only

Hi I am trying to redo my home page. http://www.creativitywithkay.com/home-multi-layer-parallax/ I am unable to rearrange the rows and columns from the dummy data that I imported. Do I have to re-do the whole page as to my liking? why am I unable to move things around? Also how do I change the call to action button links?

Hey ajkhansa,

1. I would need to log in and check out your page since you should indeed be able to freely move the elements around to you liking. Could you open a ticket in regards: http://themenectar.ticksy.com/

2. The global CTA is configured from the Salient options panel in the Call to action section – but it appears you don’t have that active on the page. The blue link at the bottom of your page is coming from the column link field for the full width column inside of your row

Cheers

Hi, I would love to buy this theme, just trying to find out two things before i purchase.

Can you put a 3 column ‘Latest Blogs’ On page Like the 3 column latest work?

Please let me know. Thank you!

Sebastian.

Hey again,

Yes – you don’t have to use the portfolio in masonry if you’re going to have external link projects. The only thing is the posts won’t be populated automatically and you’d need to add them in as you desired.

Cheers

Ok thats great, but just to clarify, i was talking about the ‘Blog recent posts’ not to be styled like Masonry, i wasnt talking about the portfollio. I want the ‘Blog’ to be styled like the portfolio thumbnails on homepage.

Basically, I want to be able to have big image thumbnails of recent posts from the blog on the homepage. Thats it. I hope this is clear & sorry for the back and forth, blogging will be important for the site i need.

Thank you for your time!

Hey again!

To clarify further – the actual blog or recent post elements can only be displayed in the actual blog styles available if you want the posts to be generated automatically. The ascend demo homepage shows some featured posts in a portfolio element in which the projects that serve as the posts are using an external link option that leads to the post. Therefore if you want to display posts in any of the portfolio styles you’d need to make projects for them as you desire – the process would be manual

Excellent development! I missed layered psd files for previous study of the layout. You have these files?

Thanks so much cassioetc! :)

Unfortunately there is no PSD available since all of the themes elements/design is css based without images – just taking a screenshot of the demo itself would prove almost as useful.

Cheers

Is there a way to make this a one page theme?

Hey findley75494, yes but it would require the use of a plugin such as http://wordpress.org/plugins/page-scroll-to-id/

Cheers

Very cool. Thanks for the quick response.

You’re welcome :)

Hi Nectar. When using the Portfolio element – Full Width – Constrain to 4 items, the images look huge when the screen width gets smaller. I didn’t notice this with your demo version, Landing Page. Is there something that could be causing the images to display really big? Thanks as always!

Hey Joe!

Is there anyway you can share your URL so I can take a peek at how things are looking on your end?

Cheers

HEllo,

Is their an easy fix to have a full width background image rotate through a few images but keep the foreground elements static?

Hey clixgroup,

unfortunately this would require some custom css development as you would need to place a Nectar Slider element and in the same row as your other foreground desired elements and then use css to make the nectar slider go behind the other elements with an approach like position:absolute

Cheers

Thinking about purchasing but I was wondering if it was possible to change the width of the pages in order to display the background a little more?

Hey TREDAKING! You can reduce the main content max width by a few hundred pixels like this demo displays themenectar.com/demo/salient but going even further than that would require custom css.

Hi!

I got a question about the menu in the header. Is it customizable, as in adding a different hover effect? (For example: an arrow on the bottom of the current page)

Thanks!

Hey mwo!

This would require custom css – there are no other hover effects included as options by default.

Cheers

Hi Nectar,

I’m working on a very basic Contact page with an image contained in a Nectar slider followed by the contact form. I have a row for the Nectar slider, and a row after it for the contact form code. I’m seeing a lot of margin between the slider/form and the form/footer. How can I reduce this space? I currently have the Contact Form row set with 10% padding, could this be contributing to the excess margin?

Thanks! I would recommend changing that to 3% since 10% of the browser window is creating too much space as you’ve seen. You can also use a px value – I believe something around “80” would be good as well :)

Got it looking good, thanks Nectar! :-)

Glad to hear :)

Cheers

hi Salient, I installed the theme today, but it was failed because of missing file “style.css”. Actually, I’m not good at english, so I couldn’t find the solution to fix. How can I fix it?

I did it by myself. :D Never mind.

Hey kangspike, glad you figured it out :)

Hi Nectar. A few questions please. 1) Is there a way to disable the sidebar for specific blog pages? I know that some themes have this option on the post page. I have a few post pages that need a full row. 2) On the hover+zoom effect, is there a way to disable the parallax-type mouse effect and just keep the zoom. The movement seems a bit choppy sometimes when moving the mouse over the image. Thanks as always!

Sorry, one more question please. 3) For the Recent Projects – Full Width Carousel, it seems to default to 3 items per row. Is there a way to show 4 items instead? Thank you!

Hey Joe,

1. As of now it’s a global option that would require some custom development to turn on/off on a per post basis.

2. In the init.js file search for all instances of ”.panr” and try to change the sensitivity to 0

3. The recent projects element actually adjusts the column number depending on the users screen size – if you want to tweak it further, you can make the mod in the init.js at the carousel section :)

Cheers

Hi there again,

It looks like when we change the Page Header Font Color on a blog post the social icons change to follow that color, which is perfectly fine, except the Linkedin icon isn’t changing – it goes to white no matter what color we assign. The roll over state works but the regular state goes to white.

Any idea how we can fix that so it will change color like the other social icons in the header?

Thanks for your time! All the best.

-SOS

Sorry – the snippet is right but you just need to change the hex color to match :)

body #page-header-bg a.linkedin-share i {
color: #414141;
}

I see. So we wouldn’t be able to have different font header colors for different posts? We can probably deal with that for the time being. Thanks again for the great support.

You could add that snippet into the post itself in the css box inside visual composer instead of the theme options panel to get it to work on a post by post basis – but the fix for this will be out this week as well :)
