I’ve been using the visual composer to add a Text Block but the block doesn’t give me much text editing capabilities. I have to switch between classic and visual to make a text larger. The text block looks Like so: http://i.imgur.com/mfn7ofz.png

I’m using your theme on my website and I love it, so do my users. One thing that concerned me though is the fact that I have two HD videos (mp4 and webm) as backgrounds on the homepage, and I also have a preview image for the both of them. I’ve compressed the videos as much as I can to reduce file size and preserve quality. The WEBM files are GREAT in file size, both under 3mb for the quality. The mp4s however as small as I can get them, ~15-16mb each.
Now most browsers support webm and the site loads fast, I also have a CDN and I’m using a very fast premium web host AND a premium cloudflare account to speed up my site. However with the video background, on safari, it has to load the mp4, and it seems as though it loads the mp4 before the JPG, because sometimes the video sections are black for over a minute.
I was wondering if there’s any way to get the JPGs to load first, then the mp4, so that the site doesn’t look blank in those sections before the video starts to play.

Your videos shouldn’t need to wait until they’re finished loading to start playing on Safari – the video size I aim to use for the demo is actually a bit higher than that even (around 25mb). The video bg should start playing as soon as it can and continue to load while doing so. Anyway I can see your URL to check it out?

So it wont say Purchased, but… I was wondering for the social media buttons, the ones where we dont have a URL to point to, like LinkedIn, how to remove that? 1. Right now this is only possible if you choose the “Transparent W/ Solid BG Hover” otherwise css would be needed or the use of the method described in my answers to your second/third questions
2/3. This would be possible if instead of using the nectar slider buttons you added actual button shortcodes into the caption field – this way you could use the shortcodes which support icons and also control the positioning to be stacked.

howdy – so is there a good way to use pp to launch images or videos from nectar buttons? seems like this would be a great option to have next to open in new window. open in lightbox/prettyphoto or what ever.
right now, i am just placing html button code with pp in the class section. it seems to work fine but there is no animation on the text when using the has-icon button. the icon transition ins but the text doesn’t slide over.

If you add the URL of a Vimeo or Youtube video into the button URL field it will automatically open via prettyphoto – however there’s nothing in place for images yet.

Hoping someone can help? Salients theme’s default background page colour is a very very light grey and I need to turn this too white site wide but don’t know where to change this??
Also my logo in my header is fine in size until it gets to mobile and then its unreadable and far too small is there a way around this?

Hey again! That’s occurring because of the full width content row type – if you can’t change that for one of the other two, you’d need a small js mod in the init.js file to accommodate for the dynamic height

Hey again! If you set the row to the full width background type you’ll be able to precisely control how much spacing is between each row with the top/bottom padding inputs
Oh, and one more thing. On my homepage i made a full width row with “recent projects” item in it. It shows 3 portfolio items, but can i change this to 4 or 5 items (and thumbnails would be smaller) and get rid of the spaces between the items.

the recent projects carousel actually adjusts the column number based on the current screen width so it could be 4 or 5 on larger desktops – also what project style are you using? If you’re using any other than the default they should already be sitting directly next to each other with no spaces assuming you have the fullwidth option active for the carousel

No matter what i change, it stays with 3 items with a white space separating them. It should be 4 or 5 without white spaces.
Edit the actual recent project element and ensure you have the option for “Full Width Carousel” checked
Hi< The row is set on “Full width Content”
When i’m in “Edit Recent Projects” there is no option for full width carousel, i can’t find that option anywhere. I can only select witch portfolio category, project style, heading text, pagelink text, page url, hide carousel controls, number of projects to show and lightbox. There are no more controls.
In the Salient theme options is portfolio also set on full width. I have no clue what to change.
Hmm.. it seems that this option is only available in the sortcut section, and not in the elements section. so i replaced the code from the element with the one from the shortcode, and now it works. But.. it oly shows 4 items when im on 1920×1200 resolution. is it possible to have smaller thumbnalis, so 4 or 5 items can be next to each other in a lower resolution? I’ve seen in on other websites, so there must be a way.

Hi, I’m using your theme for a while now. Awesome. However… after updating to the latest version i have trouble with the portfolio that i had not before. The thumbnail sizes are not the same. All images are 1280×720 or bigger, and in the previous versions all went fine. Check www.realizm.nl/rlzm8 (if you go to www.realizm.nl you see the previous version where the portfolio is working fine). Please help.
I fixed with custom thumbnails. It looks like there is a bug with thumbnails processed before the latest update and after.

I’m going crazy trying to figure out how to change the colour of the logo and the menu text based on the slide in the nectar slider. I see on the demo site it can be done but I can’t figure it out. If the text on the slide is set to dark then the logo should be dark and the text should be dark and if it is set to light vice versa. It’s not always the case though based on the image but for now I’ll be ok with knowing how to cause the logo to adapt to the slide that is visible.
Hey likeacat, the menu text will change when you have “dark” selected for the “Slide Font Color” in your nectar slide. Please also ensure you’re using v4.5 or above of the theme since this functionality was only just added in
Yes I am using 4.5.1. Dark is selected as the text colour but it does not change. Anything else I need to check?
I was using it via a child theme so switched to the main theme just in case there was a bug but it still does it. The slide appears and the font on the slide is dark but the menu items are white. Weirdness.
Anyway you can share your URL so I can check this out? (There’s no further steps required other than what I mentioned above)

?I found the bug! If you edit the Nectar Slider on the page, and do NOT check the Parallax Slider? option then the menu colour options no longer work based on the slide colour. Simply test it by removing the Parallax option and you will see the logo and menu items remain one colour only.

Hey guys. I’m not sure if you fixed this and then it broke again somehow but the same issue still persists. I’m using 5.5.2 and I have to select the parallax effect when I add the nectar slider otherwise the Slide Font Color setting is ignored.

The easiest way to get rid of the theme specific lightbox styling would be to open the style.css file and delete that section. To find it just search for “Prettyphoto” and delete all the lines below that until you reach the next section (scrollbar)

I’m a long time Salient user and really like the new theme you guys released called “ascend”. I downloaded the full file and see that there is dummy data for ascend. If I import this, will it cause any problems with my existing site running the clean version?
Also, I noticed there is a salient.zip and salient-child-theme.zip in the download. Can you explain the difference between the two? I tried looking in the user guide but didn’t find the answer.

1. It simply won’t import any pages that already exist with the same name that may be in your setup so there’s no need to worry about overwriting
2. The child theme is only needed if you intend on making mods to the theme files http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

I really like your “about us” pages and how they are setup in Ascend so I just want to be able to look at the visual composer structure and use that as a template. Hi, I uploaded all dummy data, changed general settings to ascend (confirmed) and imported demo-theme-options but can’t get the CSS to look like your ascend demo (i.e. my menu text is not bolded and small, etc). Do I need to do something to activate the ascend css in the salient css folder? How can I get all of my fonts to match your demo?
The fonts are selected in the typography options tab of the Salient options panel – however the ascend options import should’ve placed those for you. Here’s the selections you can copy http://i.imgur.com/Oqd0dB6.jpg
