As Variant is sold only with our HTML templates, it is designed purely to make life easy for people building static HTML pages. In this latest release we have added support for exporting a .variant file which allows the user to save all the content that they create and return to it at any time in the future. All of this can be done locally in a browser without any need to set up or install anything. We see this as a blurring of the lines between static pages and a CMS.

We find that a lot of clients don’t feel the need for a full CMS and most clients rarely return to edit their website content. By providing the means to edit content directly on the page and instantly get the underlying HTML file, Variant makes the initial setup of the website quite painless, if not easier than a traditional CMS.

Updating content is now also just as easy – opening up the HTML template category to a whole new audience that may once have just put such products in the “too-hard” basket.

Great thinking and concept. May be a bit under-priced, but it is a Go. All the very best.

No you get all the files for the builder in the download package, you don’t need to upload it to a server, you can run it all locally from your machine

But it is html based? And can I upload it on a server or no?

Yes, it is HTML based and runs from a single builder.html file. All pages are saved locally in browser storage and can be downloaded as .html files or exported as .variant files to edit later. It will run on a server as you can see from the demo, but we recommend running it locally from your machine for best performance ie. to add your own images they need to be placed in the template img folder.

Hello, that’s strange as the download package includes the full version of Variant. You may need to contact Envato regarding your closed account so you can access your download again
