Hey, love the theme! I only have one video to post in the “Video Reviews” section and am having trouble figuring out how to center the video. Could you tell me how to edit this?
Thanks!
Just saw a response to the same question. NM.
Hello and thanks for your purchase. Great that you have already managed to solve it. Happy editing! Erik
Hello,
Just a pre-purchase question.
In your live preview you have two demo’s. Demo 02 has the navigation bar showing at the top (unlike Demo 01).
I would not like the hidden navigation model, but would like the Demo 02 model with the full navigation at the top of the page. Does this come as standard or is it an optional extra?
Regards,
Hey there, sure the theme comes with 3 different navigation layouts – including the always visible one – by default. Cheers, Erik
Hey Erik!
Great theme I’m really loving it!
Got a newbie question.. im looking to make a membership site with your theme.. how do i get the log in/log out/recover password links to show up?
I would ideally like it in my navigation menu and footer. thanks in advance!
Nevermind I have figured it out! Thank you anyway
Hey & thanks for your purchase. Great to hear that you’ve already solved it!

I’m having two issues that I simply can’t figure out:
1) The Menu. I would like to do “bookmarks” from the menu to scroll to the specific section. Can’t get it to work. It only works on the Author and Buy links. How do I get all the menu links to scroll down to the appropriate section?
2) I enlarged the video and got rid of the second video you had listed. However, it is cut off when desktops get smaller or when viewing on a mobile device. Is there any way to get the video to resize based on the size of the browser it is being viewed in?
The website address: http://www.journeytothejacksonsbook.com/j2jbook/
Please help as soon as possible.
Well, I managed to fix the first problem but am still have problems with the second issue. In addition, on MOST mobile devices, the text of the two bottom items of the “includes” drops beneath the graphic instead of it being on the right of the graphic. The first two “includes” display fine, however, the second two items do not. Please help.
I really, really need a response ASAP. This is a site for a client. I’ve now launched the site, so the new url is: http://www.journeytothejacksonsbook.com
Your urgent response is GREATLY appreciated. This is a beautiful theme, by the way!
Hello and thanks for your purchase, glad you like it!
For the video you aligned, i’m afraid i don’t know a quick solution for that, the sizes of the video comes from the script of the youtube plugin, it can’t be modified via css, needs more revisions and custom development. Let me know if you need it and i can give you a quote for that.
Regarding the issue in the “Includes” section, the problem is that you have too long titles for the problematic features, you can either shorten them / or just reduce the font size, so they will align next to the graphic:
.include-box h2 { font-size: 16px; }
Happy editing! Erik
Is there any way to apply a smaller-sized text to the mobile version ONLY? I’m not fond of changing the headline in that section by itself; it then becomes inconsistent with the rest of the site.
@media screen and (max-width: 479px) {
.include-box h2 { font-size: 16px; }
}
The media query will force the css attribute to only take effect on screen sizes with a maximum width of 479px. Cheers, Erik
Thank you for the template design, it is very helpful. I am trying to change the main font color from the stock grey to a red color but am unable to do it. I figured it would be under ‘appearence – theme options – general – color scheme’ but when i chance the primary color it doesn’t seem to change anything in the theme.
second i would like to know how to disable the nav bar if possible. I am using woocommerce to sell a book and an ebook version of it, but the nav bar covers part of my text on the product page and i could just remove it and should be fine.
Ryan
Hello Ryan and thx for your purchase.
1.) Add this to your style.css file to change the body font to red:body { color: red; }
2.) First target your product page with the specific body class (hit F12 in your browser when you are there), and look for this:
body="... page-id-xx ..."Then disable the navbar with css with your specific page id class before, for example:
.page-id-31 #menu { display: none !important; }
So the menu will be disabled on the targeted page.
Happy editing! Erik
Thank you for the reply. I got the body text changed. When i go to look up my page ID I get this
<body class=”single single-product postid-1388 logged-in woocommerce woocommerce-page” style=”display: block;”>
What file to I insert the disable code into?
Lastly, how do I change the color of the text in the slider to match my body text?
Yeah it’s always different, in your case it will be the postid-1388, so the proper code is:
.postid-1388 #menu { display: none !important; }
Regarding the slider text, you can change it in css:
/* the slide titles */
.slide-content h1, .slide-content h2 { color: red; }
/* the slide description */
.slide-content p { color: red; }
Cheers, Erik
Hi Erik I’m struggling with the Sample chapter section. I don’t seem to be able to control how much of the text is used as an excerpt. It appears that the excerpt is fixed at the first 5 words of the chapter but that means sometimes it rolls over on to two lines which doesn’t look great. Is there a way to either: a) remove the excerpt altogether (I think you advised someone else on this but I didn’t understand the answer!) b) manually limit the excerpt text to ensure it fits on one line?
Hope this makes sense. Thanks very much for your help Cheers Emma
Hey Emma and thanks for your purchase! The options are:
A.) Remove the entire excerpt with css:.selector li span { display: none; }
B.) Manually control them with jQuery:
// First excerpt
$(".selector li:eq(0) span").text("Your custom excerpt comes here");
// Second excerpt
$(".selector li:eq(1) span").text("Your custom excerpt comes here");
and so on.. Let me know if you need further assistance with this. Cheers, Erik
Hi Erik
I can’t get all of the Font Awesome icons to load. So, fa-bicycle and fa-car won’t load, but reloading with one of the ones you used (say, fa-suitcase) does work.
Thanks.

Hey there, thx for your purchase. You need to update the fontawesome files for the latest ones to include the most recent icon variants. Download the latest release from the Official FontAwesome Site, and overwrite yours with it. Cheers, Erik
Problems with Flatbook Theme on my site :
- Under “Samples,” the excerpt is forcing a line wrap, making the formatting of that section incorrect and spill over into the section below. - My chapter summaries (currently turned off) do not format correctly and have four on one line, the fifth on the next, four more on another, and a 10th on another line. They also do not reveal properly when “show more” is clicked. - How do I add a section that is the summary of the book? - I tried to add text under “Look Inside,” and it is not formatted properly. When I put a line break, the text drops down to below the picture of the iPad.
Hello and thanks for your purchase.
1.) Regarding the Samples: as you can see, the place for the excerpts are limited because of the design, it’s recommended to use short excerpts (as in the demo) to look properly aligned. If you really need to use 2 lined titles, try to reduce the font size of it to earn more space:
.selector li, .selector h3 { font-size: 11px !important; }
2.) Unfortunately i’m not able to check your chapter summeries if you turned them off… If you don’t want to show it on your site until it’s wrong, just drop me your wp login details in email and i take a look on it.
3.) If i understood correctly, you wish to add an entire new section for your summary?
4.) What do you mean by it’s not formatted properly? You can simply add any html content and it will show above the ipad showcase, just use proper html code markup in the Text editor – no, not the visual one, it always messes up everything
Happy editing! Erik
I am being advised within my WordPress Admin panel to upgrade to version 4.0. Have you had time to check your theme in that version? Do you recommend upgrading WordPress now?
Hello and thanks for your purchase. I haven’t tested it with WP4.0 yet and personally i don’t recommend to update as it might cause issues – and i assume you won’t see any difference at all between WP3.9 and 4.0… the new habit of the developers of wordpress is to release a new update about every second week, what personally bothers me because we can’t rely on the latest version, as it’s always changing…
By the way, if you need to upgrade for some reason – and you notice issues after it – just let me know and i will help you fix them. Cheers, Erik
Thanks for your response. I don’t have anything compelling that makes me need to upgrade today. I am interested in moving there as soon as possible, but don’t want to be on the “bleeding edge” with problems for the Flatbook theme. Can you send out an announcement to your theme users when you have assured that your software is running on 4.0? Then I will upgrade. My host supplier will probably start bugging me to upgrade soon. Thanks!
I just upgraded the theme demo to WP4.0 and seems completely functional without issues – so feel free to upgrade if you wish – it will work properly. Cheers, Erik
Hi, the theme has “book viewer”? I mean user can see the book on the website not via amazon! I want flip book or book viewer style theme. I saw the demos however it connected with Amazon!
Hey there! What do you mean by book viewer? I’m afraid i don’t really understand your question…
FlatBook is a onepage landing page theme for advertising purposes – so yeah, the user can individually see the website – but my buyers usually sell it on Amazon (or any reliable online book store), and redirect the visitors from the landing page (with this theme) to the online store (e.g. Amazon), where the user can actually purchase it. Cheers, Erik
Hi, I LOVE the theme. Looks fantastic, BUT, what about supporting WooCommerce?
Please let me know what your plans are as I have already purchased.
Thanks so much!
Nick
Hey Nick and thanks for your purchase, i’m glad you like it!
Unfortunately it doesn’t support woocommerce yet as it’s a onepage landing page theme for marketing and advertising purposes – not an entire online ebook web store theme – what could be cool i admit, but honestly i don’t think i will have time to develop it in the close future. Cheers, Erik
Hi!
Very happy with your theme, I’m currently building up a “network” of different productsites with this template, example:
http://www.activestand.no http://www.active-stand.com http://www.activestand.se http://www.active-at-work.com/mousetrapper/no http://active-at-work.com/ergosafe/no/ With more languages to come. My question and dearest request, I’d like to make a custom “topmenu” above the original template, like this: http://active-at-work.com/no/topmenu.htmlIt would be 100% width, and 160px height, after scrolling past it, I would like the template to behave as normal.
Is this something you could assist me with? I would deeply appreciate it!
Hey there, i’m glad you like the theme, i also really like what you created with it, it’s really unique and professional, good job
Your request is considered as a custom development – as it isn’t just a few lines of code what i can provide for free as the part of the item support – but don’t worry it isn’t a big deal, requires 1 work hour from my side.
Please contact me in email if you are intrested, and i can give you a symbolic quote for this customization. Cheers, Erik
Error importing demo content
Hi Erik, trying to set up version 1.3.0
ISSUE 1
When importing the demo contents according to your ..\Documentation\index.html in step ‘3) Check the Download and import file attachments checkbox and hit Submit’ I get: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /srv/purple/www/www.garderobemanagement.nl/wp-content/themes/FlatBook/functions.php on line 204 Looking at file functions.php, this is one line below the function register_js().
This is WP 3.9.2 (internationalized Dutch version) and I must note that the WPImporter plugin page that I had to import earlier in the process said something like “Not known to be supported with your version”.
I initially did not “create a new owner/or assign post to existing user” in the import step, but when I tried again with assigning to the current WP login that made no difference.
Checked out all 10 pages of comments but this issue seems to be new
ISSUE 2
Now, in step 4) Appearance/Menus/Flatbook menu all the items on the right (Pricing/Home/.../Samples) appear double. Maybe because I imported twice (the 2nd import attempt told me umpteen times “Already exists”, so I assume this was properly handled).
minor ISSUE 3
There is something a bit off in the documentation. In step 4) Appearance/Menus/Flatbook menu and click Select, your screenshot says that it’s named ‘Flatbook menu (Top primary menu)’ but at that stage it is still called ‘Flatbook menu’ (that is the only one available in the dropdown). Only after checking the box and saving does it get renamed to ‘Flatbook menu (Top primary menu)’. That was a bit confusing, you may want to fix that.
So, with ISSUE 2 probably being related to ISSUE 1, I have stopped at this stage. What steps should I take from here?
Thanks in advance Jan Doggen (on my wife’s account RietdeVlieger)
Hello Jan and thanks for your purchase.
1.) Sounds strange i have never seen this issue before – however you need to check the checkbox when asked to assign the posts of the demo content – but i don’t think it has anything to do with the error message, if you haven’t made any modifications in the functions.php file, i assume it will be some conflict with the recently released 3.9.2 version of wordpress. If you send me your wordpress login details via email, i can take a look on it and do the import for you.
2.) Yeah it’s because you imported the demo content twice. When you need to import again, it’s recommended to reset the existing database to be empty or simply delete the duplicated entries manually after the successful import.
3.) Don’t worry, if you set it to be the “Top Primary Menu” with the checkbox below the menu items and save it, it will be shown like that
Cheers, Erik
Hi there,
1.How can I add Instagram to Social Media in footer? I don’t see one for Instragram.
2. I only want 1 video. How do I make it centered and bigger? 3. Where do I edit the “Get your copy now” section under the sample?
Hey and thanks for your purchase.
1.) Open up your footer.php file and change one of the social icon elements listed to Instagram.
2.) You can change the two columns layout of the video section in the template-videos.php file, just change the class="eight columns" to class="sixteen columns" and delete the second one.
3.) Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Theme Options > Call to Action and change there.
Happy editing! Erik
Hi Erik,
All of us customers sure appreciate your responsive helpfulness. I have a few more questions as I try to get my new site up and running.
1) My menu link to Contact is not working – when choosing it, the page jumps to the home position. I have checked to make sure I have a page set up for “Contact” and it is using the “Contact” template. I then checked the Menu structure and it does use the Contact page in the Flatbook Top Primary Menu. Everything seems to be consistent with all the other menu items which are working fine. Any ideas?
2) My home page animation seems to have stopped. Is there something that controls this?
Thanks!
Hey there, ok i’ll do my best to assist with them!
1.) Why don’t you try to use a Link Type menu item (instead of Page Type) at Dashboard > Appearance > Menus? Simply delete the existing contact menu item and create a new with Link Type from the left, where you can add the URL of your contact page.
2.) I assume there’s a javascript error on your home page what prevents the animations from being triggered. Open your page in Chrome, hit F12 and check the Consol tab for js errors.
Happy editing! Erik
Erik,
1) I have already tried that and the result is still no action.
2) I use Chrome F12 for exploring the elements of a page, but beyond that I am unknowledgeable. I just tried checking the Console tab and nothing happens…the screen doesn’t change. I’m also not a programmer with knowledge of JavaScript.
Sorry…any other way to approach these two issues? I’ve spent hours trying to figure them out.
Thanks~Tip
1) is resolved. I had changed the contact slug to “contact” rather than “contact-us”, so that is what I was using in the menu. When I changed the menu item back to “contact-us”, it worked. Not sure why, but it does.
2) still is an issue.
1.) Because the contact bar has the id attribute of “contact-us” by default, so the link will only work if the slug and the id is the same.
2.) Try to think back when the issue started and what you were editing than. If you can’t recall send me over your site link and i check it. Cheers, Erik
Would this theme link up well with woo commerce?
Hello, actually it doesn’t optimized for woocommerce yet, but if you have experience with css, you can style it to fit your needs. Cheers, Erik
Hi Eric! I bought the Flatbook theme last week. I love the look and operation of the theme, and I am enjoying working with it! I’ve spent the last day tweaking it and am very satisfied with the adjustments that I’ve made. I’ve been mostly reducing the size of the header and menu bar, and that has gone pretty well.
Question 1): Now, after the changes I’ve made, on the home page, when I scroll down to another section, they are positioning lower than my fixed menu by about 34-35px. I would like to “scootch them up by that amount and cannot figure out where to make that code adjustment. I have made all the sizing adjustments directly to the “layout.css” file and assume that there is a parameter in there I should be able to change to accomplish this positioning adjustment. How can I position the scrolled sections higher up by 34px?
Question 2): On the Blog page, how can I increase the number of post lines displayed (currently 3 lines) to either a higher number or unlimited? I want my reader to see more of each post than the theme currently shows.
BTW, I think you’ve done a great job of documentation for the theme. I realize these questions are beyond the scope of that documentation.
Thanks, in advance, for your help.
Hello! Thanks for your purchase and your positive feedback, i much appriciate sharing it with us!
1.) Open up your header.php file and on line 53 play around with the offset: -153 attribute until scrolling fits your adjusted size header.
if ($post->post_type == 'post')
return 40;
the number “40” refers to the amount of words shown in the blog post excerpts, for example if you change it to “120”, the excerps will show 120 words before the read more button.
Let me know how these worked out! Happy editing! Erik
Hi Erik! Thank you so much. The first change works perfectly. In the second issue, changing the blog word count does increase the words displayed, but it loses the paragraph break. Is there a way to not lose the paragraph break?
I suggest that you might consider making the second issue a variable in your General Theme Options settings. With higher bandwidth available today, many people might choose more words to be displayed.
Thanks again for developing such a fine WP theme!
What do you mean exactly by “paragraph break”? Maybe the justified text alignment of the excerpt contents?
Yeah, actually there are many things what could be improved in my mind – like the one you mentioned – but nowdays i’m extremely busy with my client projects and unfortunately don’t have enough time to accomplish my plans of improvements
Your welcome, glad you like it!
Also, don’t forget to rate the theme if you have some time, i’d much appriciate it! Cheers, Erik
Hi. Thanks for answering to all questions last time. Got stuck on some more.
JJwarren.com
1) How do I erase some space below Samples from the book. 2) Right behind the ipad looking display is a small image. How do I delete that? 3) I have many chapters excerpts. How can I display all without overlapping “Get your copy now!” “purchase” display that follows?
Thank you
Hey, your welcome!
1-2.) You are installed some third party social media plugin, that’s what you see behind the ipad and i assume that causes the large spacing between the title and the ipad mockup: http://postimg.org/image/55oz0ifrr/
3.) Unfortunately FlatBook only allows 4-5 chapter selectors to stay the design clean and sleek, i suggest to keep only the most catchy ones and remove the rest so it will align nicely.
Happy editing! Erik
Hi,
First of all, thanks so much for your prompt help.
My question is, when I click the arrows on the sliders, the sliding in feature doesn’t work and instead the elements that are supposed to slide just fade in.
Thanks a lot
Hey there, your welcome! Amm, i just checked the slider of your site right now and it seems ok for me: the two lined title and the image is sliding, the text content is fading. It’s the original functionality of the theme, just like in my theme demo: http://demo.eriktailor.com/flatbook-wordpress/
Hey there and thanks for your purchase! Amm, it supposed to be shown (i checked it in IE10 with the profile and user agent of IE9) and it looks good for me: http://s23.postimg.org/wma76anob/g35rhwb.jpg
The problem is with the opacity: 0; css attribute what can’t be rendered in IE9 and lower versions, if that really bothers you prefix your css with this: filter: alpha(opacity=100); and it will be shown in IE9.
The reason i haven’t used it directly in the css, is this prefix isn’t really valid – kinda css hack – but feel free to use it if you think so. You can read more on this here: http://css-tricks.com/css-transparency-settings-for-all-broswers/
