Hello
I have downloaded the theme, installed and previewed. The theme is excellent. I’m just struggling to open and edit a page using frontend visual composer, it just doesn’t load. Is it my internet connection or any other issues?
Hello!
Thank you for your kind words! I’d always suggest using the backend editor rather than the frontend – I notice that some theme authors disable the frontend editor entirely as it’s just not as fast as the backend.

How can i encrease the number of products (Latest products) on homepage slider from 5 to 6 items/products?
Hi!
There’s no option currently to change the number of products visible in the grid – we’ll make a note of the request for a future release.

Hi team! I search how to specify dimensions of menu’s image, as GTmetrix recommends. Have you an idea? Thx. Cyril.
Bonjour Cyril
It’s not actually possible to specify dimensions for the images in the megamenu. As you can see we had to adapt the WordPress menus to allow images in the first place by using the description field for the link.

hi
Can i change the color of the buttons on the CAPTIVA CONTENT STRIP?? thank you
Hi
They’re using the Visual Composer buttons.
- On a new page, add element – button. Create the button as you like.
- Then switch to classic view. This displays the shortcode markup.
- Paste this into the Captiva Content Strip.

Can i set a custom color for these buttons?
Hi
There’s an option to add a class on a button. I’d write something like ‘pink-color’ and then in Captiva Theme Options > Custom Code:
.pink-color {
background: pink;
}

Hello, how I can make the fields smaller in the Registration / Login Page? They are ugly cos they expand to the whole website width. Thanks
Hi there
Try this bit of css within Captiva Theme Options > Custom Code
#customer_login .col-1 {
width:47%;
float: left;
}
#customer_login .col-2 {
width: 47%;
float: right;
}
#customer_login input.button {
width: auto !important;
}

Hey Hey,
i tryed to translate some parts into german, but I don’t see a change after saving and uploading it back to the server.
I changed the files in wp-content/themes/captiva/woocommerce.
Is there something else I can do?
Best, Mon
Hi there Mon!
Firstly for translating WordPress to German if you haven’t already: https://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/wpmu-manual-2/adding-languages/The captiva ’.po’ file is in wp-content/themes/captiva/languages
Then if you follow this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xqcxncNmT0You’ll need to download and run ‘Poedit’ for this – it’s straightforward enough.

Simon
Hey, thank you!
But I can’t find strings like “View Cart” or “Checkout” in any po-file.
I can’t translate the mini cart… It stays completely english
Hi!
The Captiva .po file should have all the English strings used in the theme. ‘View Cart’ and ‘Checkout’ sound like WooCommerce strings, have you the German WooCommerce pack installed? https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-de/Best
Simon
No, I used the woocommerce in your pack
But I have a german legal extension!
Try installing the plugin. It just adds the German Language pack to WooCommerce I think.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-de/Best
Simon
The plugin doesn’t solve my problem… plus I changed almost every po/mo-fie on my webspace…
Changing the strings in the php files also doesn’t work… i’m frustrated :’(
and many other things are also strange:
i just wanted to swap the positions of the update-button and the checkout-button. I changed it in the cart.php in the captiva files.
But NO changes….
Hi there Mon,
Please send me an email to support@commercegurus.com with the specific strings (i.e. please include a screenshot showing us the strings) that you’re unable to translate and we’ll be able to tell you how to do this asap.
Re: button positioning – again if you just point me in the direction of the specific buttons in your email I can advise you on how best to do this.
Best,
Colm
You’ve got mail

Hi there! Yesterday I bought Captiva Theme for my client. Today I’m trying to upload theme but something goes wrong everytime I try to uplad. It seems that some folders are broken because filezilla says CAN’T READ THE FOLLOWING FOLDER… But if I upload one by one it works. What can it be?
Thanks
Hi Andrea
Did you unzip captiva.zip within /ThemeInstall locally first and then upload the resulting /captiva folder to wp-content/themes ?
If you send me on the ftp info, WP site and login to support@commercegurus.com I can take a look. It could be a permissions issue also with your folders. If that’s the case cPanel would be needed also.
Best
Simon
Hi Simon, thank you for your reply! I had the zip file in a folder, filezilla couldn’t read the url because it is too long to be read, so I moved the folder on the desktop and now seems to work. I send you everything by email. I checked out the permission and it seems that everything’s ok. Thanks Andrea
Great! So do you still need help or can you do the rest yourself?
We have an install video here by the way – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcx2K8b7oN8

Hello: I happen to catch some problems with the visual composer plugin which basically returns 404 error for all of its resources every time i load the site .
Hi there!
I’ve never seen an issue with Visual Composer like that before. Could you send a link and WP login, perhaps some screenshots of the error also to support@commercegurus.com and I’ll take a look.
Regards
Simon
Hi, thanks for the instant reply.
I am running the site on localhost for testing

Hi there
It’s difficult to diagnose without seeing it on a live server. Another user had some issues with VC on wamp but it worked great on a live server. Maybe trying publishing and take a look then.

Hello!
Tried to install the theme but the theme package appears to be bigger than the standard 8mb theme file… can’t upload using Wordpress directly.
Trying to upload using FTP causes errors and now a fresh install of WP is having a white-screen of death.
Do you have a .zip of the theme that will upload via FTP? I can install other themes onto server fine…
Failed to open “C:\Users\Al\Google Drive\INTERNAL\UPCOMING MEDIA (Website)\VERSION7\themeforest-8241498-captiva-responsive-wordpress-woocommerce-theme\THEMEFOREST_CAPTIVA_PACKAGE\ThemeInstall\captiva\captiva\admin\redux-framework\ReduxCore\inc\fields\spinner\vendor\spinner_custom.js” for reading Error: File transfer failed
Over 217 files failed to transfer using FTP all from inside the ReduxCore folder. I’ve never had an issue like this using a themeforest theme before. Any suggestions?
Best Regards,
KSD
Hi there KSD,
It sounds like you’re having permissions problems when uploading via FTP.
If you email me your control panel (e.g. cpanel) login details along with your WP url and admin user/pass I should be able to sort this out for you in a few minutes.
Best,
Colm
Hey Colm,
I was able to install the theme, activate plugins and install demo content however I’m not able to get any pages to load. It gets to the slider portion and then stops loading everything.
Would you be able to take a quick look? http://dev6.upcomingmedia.com It appears the version of Layar slider is out of date and their latest update fixes a fatal PHP error some are experiencing, maybe this could help solve the issue?
Regards,
KSD
Edit: I have some of the pages going, however pages with the slider appear to not load fully.
FIXED! Realized memory was low. Had to increase to 64MB
Excellent, glad you got it sorted!

hi there
i copied and pasted the text from a file sent to me that would give me a copy of the Captiva Corporate page.
if you take a look at the link below – scroll down the page till you get to the PROFILE sections, you’ll see that the font awesome icons for twitter / linked in and anything else i choose will not change color other then white – no matter what i change in the setting.
Could you take a look please? thank you
http://www.chessfusco.com/cba/Hi there
I just changed the icons from white to red in the demo and it worked just fine. Could you send your WP login details to support@commercegurus.com and I’ll take a look.

Hi, I just bought Captiva and installed it manually. Now I would like to install the add ons like WP bakery, Ultimate add ons, layerslider. How do I do this?
Thanks! JP
Hello JP!
If you follow our installation video, all the relevant plugins get installed right after Captiva gets activated.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcx2K8b7oN8Hope that helps,
Simon
Thanks, I watched the video, but I installed it manually, because of a broken link. I see the option to install other plugin is, but the ad ons are not highlighted now, so I also need a manual install procedure?
Hi there
It might be easier to start again to be honest. Remove what’s there and either:
- Appearance > Themes > Add New – and upload the Captiva zip file within the /ThemeInstall folder
- Or unzip captiva.zip locally first and upload the /captiva to wp-content/themes
- Then activate the theme and as you see from the video you get a dialog box to install all plugins.
Best
Simon
Thnaks Simon, I will try and let you know
JP
Hi Simon, it worked, except that my drop down menu does not work at all. Do I miss something in the setting?
JP
Hi JP
If you’ve followed the video tutorial exactly, imported the demo content and assigned the menus accordingly it should work. Could you send on your site’s link and WP login to support@commercegurus.com and I could take a look.
Best
Simon
I just sent you via email the data as requested
JP
I did not import the demo content, as I already have a current site running and I want to change to a Woocommerce site…. JP
By watching the tutorials, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co8Pj9S92ns) I also see that I miss the lift and right sidebar widgets?? Should they not be in the files, or is this not part of the download? JP
Thanks for the great support!
Thanks JP, appreciate it
Simon
Hi gurus team. i would like to know if the breadcrumb of the shop could be enable for the posts, pages é categories of my site. Thx! Cyril.
Bonjour Cyril
Hope everything is good with you. The Yoast SEO plugin (which is very good by itself) includes a Breadcrumbs module which should do the trick.

Thx Simon, just one click when you have Yoast…perfect, thx!
Hi there,
I am really struggling to get Paypal Express to work on our website. Tried ev everything and I still get an error message. Any advice you can give me please?
http://www.ishopdirect.co.nz/my-account/cart/Hi there Boeremeisies
I’d advise switching from Captiva to the default WordPress theme, Twentyfourteen. If the plugin still doesn’t work then I’d get in touch with its developer.
Best,
Simon
Hi Simon, Managed to fix the PayPal issue. We reinstalled Wordpress and I needed to update API’s. All good now, thanks for the excellent support. We are loving Captiva – it’s a fantastic theme!
Excellent, glad you got it sorted!
Hey I was just wondering if its possible to set this theme up as a “One Page” Template. When you click a page from the navigation menu it would have a smooth scroll down to the related section. Is this possible? Thanks for your help. Best, Corbin
Hi there Corbin,
Thanks for getting in touch!
A “One Page” template is not currently possible with Captiva.
We’ll consider it for a future release.
Best,
Colm
Can you post instructions for how to create the Home page smaller slider template, basically just the slider and two banners part. I am sure I can make it using visual composer but want to have it just like you do in the demo.
And as always, when is the next big update coming?
can’t wait!
Hi there reboot!
I’ll send you the smaller slider instructions now via email.
Re: next big update – not sure on a precise eta at the moment – we’ve lots of enhancements in the pipeline
We might do one more maintenance release next (which will include the latest version of Visual Composer) and then we should be down to feature releases
Best,
Colm
Just purchased the Captiva theme. Followed the Installation video and everything seems to be installed properly. However the Front Page, About Us page and several others don’t want to load. The Shop pages and blog pages load.
The default page loads but the minute you set the Reading to Static Page, it doesn’t load.
Using WampServer. Any ideas? Have to get this site out pronto and can’t afford this trouble I’m having.
Hi there rroode,
thanks for getting in touch!
we got your email and I’ve just sent you a response
Colm
Thanks for your prompt response Colm, working great on the Live Server.
Hi,
Very nice theme, just bought it
Where can i find the .PSD files?
Kind regards, Rob
Hi there Rob
Thank you! The theme was built entirely from front end markup without psds! Is there an element or something in particular you need?
Simon
Ok. I guess I have to redesign by adjusting the front end markup.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers, Rob
Thanks Rob!
That reminds me – I came across this the other day – I haven’t used it but perhaps it might be of help, http://www.pagelayers.com/

Hi. I have newly installed the theme and the product images is very large. No matter what i set as size in woocommerce->Products, the images is the same large size. It seems to be the .cap-product-gallery-img img {width:100% !important;} that does this. Is this how it is supposed to be, and do i need to change this css if i want the product images to be set to a max-width of 300×500px?
Aril
Hi Aril!
So firstly, the 100% is required so that the images scale nicely for different resolutions.
You’re changing the size in the correct location alright but you need to also install a plugin called ‘Regenerate Thumbnails’. If you run this after adjusting the size it’ll rescale all your existing product images.
Hope that helps!
Simon
I had tried that, and i tried it once more now, but nothing happens. The image is still expanded to take up 100% of the space. And in this instance that is 458×763px. You may take a look at it here: http://trompet.blaseinstrumenter.no/?product=tr-635l
Aril
Hi Aril
Ah I see now. Well two options I guess, one would be to upload larger images. The other would be to overwrite the 100% variable by adding this line to Captiva Theme Options > Custom Code
.cap-product-gallery-img img {
width: auto !important;
}
Best,
Simon
.cap-product-gallery-img img {
max-width: 300px !important;
margin: 0 auto !important;
display: block;
}
Is this an ok way to do it, or is there a better way?
Hi Aril
Your code should work just fine. I guess you could also change the fundamental grid to give less space to the image but this way is certainly easier.
Best,
Simon
Hello,
I can’t find this:
“How to upload a Product Category banner
We made one small enhancement to the WooCommerce->Products->Categories section. When you are adding/editing a product category you will now see an option called “Product Category banner”. This is designed to allow you to upload a large product category banner like the one on display below”
.
Hi there!
Thanks for getting in touch! If you send me your WP login details to support@commercegurus.com I’ll take a look at this for you asap.
Best,
Colm
Hi RumboDigital
