well, existing users cannot simply update, we have to download and copy paste all theme files or.. am I missing something?

Perhaps it’s an Envato issue, i.e they could give the option to uploaders to provide a separate download containing the updated files only.

Metronic has more than 80 plugins and compiling all at once is not efficient so you should include only required plugins on your master page. You can check the theme documentation(_documentation/admin/index.html) to get a full list of used plugins.

Yeah, try the same with AngularJS (with Bootstrap UI extension), in there, there is z-index generated in style attribute, but with ’!important’ in css style it’s not able to overwrite so the second dialog is under the backdrop.

By right it should be working on IE8 same as in previous versions. But the entire layout might load slow(you will need to wait a few seconds until layout is fully loaded) on IE8 due to used some additional JS libraries(respond.min.js, excanvas.min.js) to fix css media query and SVG support issue for IE8.

Please revert back all the changes. Actually the issue was due to using popovers on the input fields. You can try to to wrap the inputs in SPAN and apply attach popovers as shown below:

Metronic is an HTML theme but it is not fully functional admin system or WP theme. Metronic provides you just html templates without actual functionality. The actual implementation is responsibility of buyer. Basically web applications contain of 2 layers:

1) Design and Frontend UI(html, css, javascript)

2) Actual system implementation using a server side language such as PHP or Java, and database engine such as MySQL or Oracle.

So our Metronic theme, as an HTML theme helps you on the step #1. The step #2 will be responsibility of the buyers as every buyer has own requirements and system specification.
