Thanks for great Salient. Wonder whether I can do anything with Nectar Bar to make it show caption instead of percent? I’ve already found where to add ‘caption’ attribute and now it can show any number I wish in the ‘bulb’. But still it can’t show string (letters) :((

Great theme 
I’m having a direct conflict with the SEO by Yoast plugin and Visual Composer. I’ve updated to the latest version of WP and theme itself.
It looks like salient’s VC needs to be updated to the latest version. On the actual VC plugin site, it looks like this has now been updated as there are countless others who are having the same issue.
Could you update this theme’s version of VC please?

Hi Nectar,
The theme have some issues with Google search results, it’s not getting the correct title and description. Google is grabbing the video code instead of the Yoast meta title and description. I read some other comments who have the same issue as well. I wonder if this issue have a solution already?

I’ve only seen that occur in the past with users who were using the self hosted default WP video player on certain pages – can you try removing the video you have under the Why Hire Us? section and swap that for an external player to see if the meta data changes

Really loving your theme. However came across an issue, hoping you could solve it for me.
Am trying to use bbpress integrated into my website, however my issue is I am unable to setup the Child Theme properly for it and the default bbpress colors on Salient are too light and some elements infuses with the background making them barely visible.
Would really appreciate if you could guide me through this or at-least point me to the right place.
PS> I tried bbpress codex but they don’t have proper answer to setting up your child theme.

So I’m working on an ecommerce store with salient and I’m having products show up throughout the site with the woocommerce product shortcode. It displays the feature image which I have edited to be a certain size for the placement on each page. Once they click the image and go to the actual product page, I want it to show a different image for the product because the image is too small on the product page.
Basically I’m wondering if you can set a parameter for the size of the feature image when you call it via shortcode to another page, but have it maintain the full image on the product page.
I hope this makes sense.

You should be able to control the image size on the two pages separately but having a different image all together would take a plugin or modding by default – if you can share the URL of your product page and let me know the desired size i’d be glad to help

Hi just wondering if i could get a little assistance, im trying to do two things, which I am strugglign to get to work properly.
Could you help me do the following:
1. I want a two column portfolio, I have this working, ish. but it isnt centered the spacing left and right are inconsistent, and the overlays dont quite align with the thumbnail images.
2. I am using ‘Meta on hover + entire thumb link’. which is cool ,but i want to have the meta display below on mobile as it does when you use “Meta below thumb w/ links on hover” is it possible to do this?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

If you look at the thumbnails, there is a small white line, either side, and also the hover/overlay is a few pixels bigger than the thumb.
Is this something that is easily fixable?
I also wanted to ask 1 other questions then im done, promise.
On my project pages i have a section at the bottom, that is ‘similar projects’, i want this to be 3 columns wide but it is taking on the characteristics of the portfolio from the homepage i.e 2 columns.
Is there a way around this so i can have 2 columns on work page and 3 columns at bottom of projects pages. Could you set the 4 column width to be actually be 3 columns and the 3 column width to be 2 columns?
The 4 column width portfolio is still 4 columns, if i choose that setting, if i could get this setting to act like a 3 column portfolio then that would solve the problem?
Do you think this is achievable or is it a lot css modification.

1. Add this into the custom css box located in your Salient Options panel:
.portfolio-items .col img {
max-width: none!Important;
width: 100%!important;
}
2. You can change your snippet to only target items on that page like:
body.home .portfolio-items .col.span_4, body.home #search-results .result, body .masonry-blog-item {
width: 47.5% !important;
}
Thats great, all working now.
Just for future reference is the .home just the name of the page that i am targeting or is the. home generated elsewhere. if i wanted to target items on a projects page could i do that?

Just to explain what i mean. I have 3 pages, an overview page which im using as a static homepage (landing page) a work page and a profile page. The revised snippet works for the overview page but i want the same 2 column layout on the work page.
How would i target the work page to replicate what is on the overview page.

I am a beginner with wordpress installation. I see That there is wordpress.org and wordpress.com. With wordpress.org there is no registration and it is a self hosting solution. Can we buy and use Salient theme with self hosting ? Is there all the plugins like in the live preview (like for example social network integration ? ) . Thanks a lot !

The only plugins used in the demo are woocommerce for the shop and contact form 7 for the contact form – the theme is only able to be used in the .org self hosted version

No, it was in % for both values – what I did have was another empty row inside that row that may have been showing you a pixel value? I have removed that row now but the padding for the mouse based parallax background is definitely both in %.

I seem to be having a problem importing the Sample Data xml file using the latest version of Wordpress. I get a Fail To Import message running down the page when I try to import. I also tried this workaround: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/failed-to-import-invalid-post-type-possible-workaround?replies=3
I got onto the Wordprees.org forum but got a firm reply to say it is not a Wordpress issue, but a theme issue. The response was that the Import area on the Dashboard is not intended for that use (I’ve used it before and it work perfectly though!)
I am just wondering if you have encountered this before and if so, if you know of a workaround to get sample data onto the site?

Time for my first question, I always find answers to my questions here but can’t find one for this one!
On my website I’m using a full width background image in a row that has both 1/1 and then 1/2 + 1/2 below it. Everything displays find and looks dame perfect on my 13” macbook. However when I’m looking at it on a 27” Imac there is a problem. The background image is completely full width which is awesome, however its only displaying about 200px in height of the image and not the full vertical length even though theres plenty left. It ends up giving the whole row 200px worth of my picture and then the rest is the default grey color. Tried everything! Maybe you know a simple solution?
By the way even though its been commented 1000000x, the amount of effort you have put into this is awesome and its themes like this are setting the bar for CMS. You must have some good brains to develop this theme, and with that comes 30,000 sales at $60 each!

Just a quick message with a feature request… I think it would be incredibly useful if the Nectar slider could contain a fall back image for portrait devices such as tablets/phones.
I imagine it could function in the same way you currently select a video background and then an image background as a backup for mobile devices.

Hey Salient, amazing theme still!! Hope you can help me out with the following questions:
1. Is it possible to get a CSS snippet that allows to set up a standard header to every new blog post including the forced disabled transparancy of the nav and the bottom line shadow activated? at the moment I’m using this one:
.single-post #page-header-bg.fullscreen-header { background-image: url(‘image-url’)!important; }
but I would still need the transparancy and shadow thing included?
2. In replace of that would it maybe even be possible to have the featured image of a blog post automatically being set up as the header of the post page when normal users/authors make a new post and upload their featured pic (frontend)?
3. Is it possible to change the text font seize (body) within a blog post independent from the text excerpt in the blog overview on the main page (I’m using masonry no sidebar)
4. Same thing for the featured image? I like the seize of the pic and text in the blog overview/excerpt but in the post itself the font is to small and the pic too big… but when I try to change it (with the CSS you provided here several times already) then it’s automatically connected to the overview and it looks crappy…

1. Unfortunately this would be better suited to do as a mod in the functions.php file
2. This would require some custom development as the logic would need to be altered as to how the image is grabbed
3. Add this into the custom css box in the Salient options panel:
.single-post .content-inner, .single-post .content-inner p {
font-size: 20px!important;
}
4. Just prepend .single-post to the beginning of the snippet you’re using and it’ll only apply to the main single post page
