Hi guys! Great work on the theme!

I have several questions though… I’m planning to use it for a website that organizes workshops. So, I’m planning on using a plugin through which to make registration forms. Which one do you think will be the best and will not mess up too much with the responsive layout of the website? For now I have my eyes on Gravity Forms.

Next, is there a possibility for a multi-column page layout (as in the demo is a regular page full-width)?

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

Thank you for kind words :)

About registrations, Gravity Forms should do it in terms of functionality. The default forms are pretty clean, and they sell their product saying it’s easy to integrate with almost any theme, so I think it might work well with Flatbase.

Regarding your second question, although the homepage template is full-width, you can use it as a base to create a new custom template, or override it with a child theme. See these links for further information:

Best,

Andrés.

First of all pretty cool theme. I am having a problem when trying to add Font-Awesome icons to the main menu. I originally installed the Font Awesome Menu 4 plugin, but there was a problem with the alignment where the icons would go above the menu indication bar at the top of the page. So I removed it.

Then I realized you already declared the Font Awesome library in the theme so not sure if there are some problems. I tried just adding the css to the menu items, but still not working.

Please let me know what I can do to fix this.

Ricardo

Hi Ricardo,

Thanks for your kind words :) It really depends on how and where you’re wanting to apply the icons. Could you send me an email to andres@nicethemes.com with the URL of your site and a little more detail about the modifications you need?

Best,

Andrés.

Hi, so far this theme is great. I am having a small issue though. I have a few Sub Categories for the Articles, but the knowledge base and homepage are only showing the parent category title.

For example

Parent Category -Child Category —Actual Article

The articles are being listed under the Parent Category only. What can I add, and where can I add it to display the Parent Category above the Child category then a list of articles? Hopefully that makes sense.

Chris

Hi Chris,

I would need you to send me the URL of your site and an access to the admin area, so I can take a deeper look into your issue. You can email me to andres@nicethemes.com.

Best,

Andrés.

Hi, before purchasing I would like to know how the information is treated with your template. Are there any kind of KMS functionalities to list/edit/insert/delete each item or are should I write them directly in the Wordpress code? Or are the items taken directly from a DB (i.e. MySQL)? Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for writing. This theme is fully based on the WordPress architecture, meaning that you can add, edit and delete contents using its native admin area, without the need to code anything yourself. However, these contents are saved in a MySQL database, where they are later retrieved from, but you don’t need to interact with the database directly.

Best,

Andrés.

Hi. Can multiple people edit this knowledge base? Do users login or what?

Hi,

Thanks for writing. You can have multiple authors on the backend, just like you edit or manage posts or pages. If your question is more related to front-end editing, then the answer is that the theme doesn’t come with any functionality to edit from the front-end directly.

Best, Juan.

Hi, Great looking theme and it looks very robust! I was super excited to come across it.

I had some questions about the theme:

-How are the entries created? As blog posts, pages, or a custom entry? I was also thinking about making this into an editable wiki (I saw another user asked about this too) but certain plugins only work for certain post types.

-I noticed there was a section called gallery and a video library…can the gallery also have videos & descriptions? Or is there a way to actually see all of the videos in the library? It looks like you’re only able to access the videos from the homepage.

Hy Jacklynn,

Thanks for your kind words. Regarding your questions:

1. They are custom post types, named “Articles”. Yes, unfortunately the theme doesn´t include front-end editing but I’m sure there are possibilities to achieve that through plugins.

2. The gallery is just a page template that you can use in order to display a photo gallery in a nice way. Then, the videos are articles that has they format as videos. But they’re just articles in the end. The only way to parse the videos is with the home page section with the theme as it is right now.

Hi, nice theme.

How does the registration for the forum works? You have your own registration page in the theme or they have to go through the wp registration? I tried searching for a link but couldn’t fin it.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for your kind words.

It works with the bbPress registration template. All you need to do is create a page and assign the bbPress registration template and you´ll have the registration form on that page.

Hi,

I would like to try using the expanding/collapsing function from the FAQ in Articles. Is that possible?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for writing. Unfortunately that template is only for FAQs and it is not possible to use it with Articles.

Best, J.

Hi,

I would like to ask if it is possible to have the articles as full width instead of having a sidebar left or right.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for writing and thanks for your purchase. Unfortunately not, you’ll need to work around the file single-article.php in order to customise that.

Best, J.

thanks for the instant reply… I will give it a shot

no problem :)

Hi!

I think your theme looks really great and we would like to buy it. Before we buy it we have one pre-sale question. Maybe it was asked before (i did not find the answer).

In the demo you can see the six categories in the knowledgebase section on the homepage. For every category you have a different number of articels and if possible you show five of the articles under each category headline.

Is it possible to show more than the six categories (if we have more than six) on the homepage and it is also possible to show more than five articles for every category? If yes, do i we have to change it in the admin section of wordpress or do we have to change the php and css files (to write additional code).

Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for your kind words and hoping that you are doing well.

Yes, you can have as many categories as you want, they will be listed. The amount of articles to display can be changed from the theme options panel.

Best J

Hi,

thanks for the fast answer! That is nice to read but now i have new question. In the demo the categories are listed in alphabetic order, can we change that too? We would like to use our own order style!

Cheers

Hi,

No worries. Yes, you can change that but not through the theme options, you’ll need to change some code. We can guide you on how to do that, it is fairly simple.

Hi there again! I translated the nicethemes.po and uploaded it with it’s .mo in the lang folder but in the theme there is still english language. What did I miss to do? I used the software PoEdit and yes. :(

Thank you!

Hello,

Thanks for writing. Well, let’s say you’re translating your theme to german, then you need to be running your site in German and rename the translated .po and .mo into the name of your locale. For german would be “de_DE.po” and “de_DE.mo”

Best, Juan.

easy question I hope….where can the text for the home banner for flatbase be edited in the cms? Cant find !?

Hi there, thanks for writing. Unfortunately we can provide support only to users that purchase the product. Best, J.

I have! brought from nicethemes user nutrify

Hi, Are you sure that you have made the purchase with this user you´re writing from? Your username should go accompanied with a “Purchased” note beside on this thread if you did the purchase. Would you please send me the purchase ID to support@nicethemes.com

Best, Juan.

Does this theme natively allow for file uploads/attachments to KB articles?

Hi,

The KB articles are custom post types. That means that the articles have the same forms as the WordPress pages or posts. You can use the media uplader to upload your files.

Best, Juan.

Hi Just a pre purchase question: Can I have tags filtering the blog entries? I would like to have the main blog in masonry style but also select specific tags and hide the rest of the posts, is this possible? Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for writing. The blog masonry template list all the posts, so unfortunately that´s no possible through the theme options. Then, the archive template will list the blog entries for a certain tag, but it´ll look just like the regular blog.

Perhaps what you can do is create a separate template in which you change the posts query filtering by a certain tag.

Best, Juan.

Thanks, that’s what i thought looking at the demo… cheers

No problem. Have a nice day, Juan.

Hi Juan! Its me again.

Everything is working fine, and we are going to publish our Support Center this week! :)

But there’s one small thing. Im having trouble when trying to rename the “Views” and “Reading Time”, below the Article’s Title. Its in English, and I want to translate to Portuguese.

I’ve searched at the HTML editor, but I couldnt find the line where I can translate this. Can you help me?

Gracias por su ayuda!

Hi Sergio,

I´m happy to hear that. Please have in mind that you don´t have to translate the theme through the HTML editor but using some software like Poedit in order to translate the .po and .mo files.

Perhaps you can take a look at this thread where we explain how to translate a theme to swedish: http://nicethemes.com/forums/topic/how-to-translate-the-theme-to-swedish/

Hi, Thanks for great theme I want to know if the theme can be used along with other theme on the website. So, if i want to use flatbase for my support pages and another theme for all other pages – can it be done or will there be any issue.

Thanks Ratan

Hello Ratan,

Thanks for writing. Well, that’s not up to the theme, it is related with WordPress. If you use WordPress multisite then you can configure two sites and have a theme for each site.

As far as I’m concerned, you can’t have two active themes on one site.

Best, Juan.

Hi Juan!

This is an excellent theme. I was really amused with all the design and functionality.

But I have 3 questions:

1) How can I put a sidebar along the articles, just like your model? (Categories, Most Viewed, Most Liked)

2) Can I split the FAQ into 4 categories? I have 4 products, each one has a FAQ. My idea was place the Categories in the sidebar, so the user can easily move from one category to another. (in the accordeon model).

3) I want to create a page with a Index of all my articles, alphabetically ordered. So this page has to show all my articles, from A to Z, as a ordered list with bullets. I know that an Index exists, but it just summarize the Pages, Articles Categories, Posts per category and FAQ.

Sorry for my poor english, if you dont understand something, let me know so I can try again.

Thank you so much.

Hi,

Thanks for your purchase and the kind words.

1) You need to go to “Appearance > Widgets” and configure the widgets for the Knowledgebase / Articles sidebar.

2) Unfortunately that’s not possible. You can use categories, but that won’t make you have the division on the template.

3) That is not possible with the theme as it is right now. However, being WordPress an open source and extensible tool I’m sure you can find some programmer that might help you with the creation of this template.

Your english is good! everything is clear :)

Obrigado, Juan

have a silly question, after purchase and install it on wordpress, would i get the same layout directly? or have to set in wordpress again? thx

Hi,

Thanks for writing. After you purchase and install the theme on WordPress you’ll need to set up the site (page templates, navigation menus, widgets and front page) and import the contents if you wish to have the same layout as the demosite. You can get the XML files here: http://nicethemes.com/theme-xml-demo-content/

Best, Juan.

Hi Guys, Great theme!

Are you still developing the theme and if so do you have any plans to add a ticketing system or are there any plugins that you know that I could add if I purchase.

Thank you

Hi There,

Thanks for writing. Yes, we always work on new updates, fixing bugs and adding some minor features. I think a ticketing system would be more related to plugins. Perhaps tweaking bbPress or using some integration with zendesk or similar.

I´m sure you´ll find some plugin for ticketing system (for example: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-support-plus-responsive-ticket-system/)

Best, Juan.

That’s great, could you please tell me what your support response is, because we’ve purchased theme here before and had a nightmare with some developers :(

Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for the follow up.

What do you mean by “support response”? We provide support through our site at http://nicethemes.com/support/ – Tickets are usually answered within 24-48h max (it takes a couple of hours to get a response usually).

We provide support on bugs and basic usage, we don’t provide support on customizations.
