A little curious about the update.
You added in functions.php function udesign_blog_section_post_image() and function udesign_single_post_image() WHY?
The featured images were displaying fine, without any changes to any files and without a child theme fncts. this has become redundant especially since the site owner wanted the featured image to open in prettyphoto not just relink to the same post and that we accomplished in child functions.php But now we have two featured images one linking to the post (again) and the prettyphoto one. trying to get this to work without editing the core theme files, which aren’t mine to edit and am not allowed to anyway.
Is there a way you can add an option to select what the featured image links to example open image in prettyphoto
if open_in_pp echo 'rel=prettyPhoto'
or something like that and no I cannot ask this on the member forum I am not the member. If you need email of the owner I can msg it to you to confirm purchase.

those two added for a very good reason. Looks like you’re not familiar with the WordPress action hooks/filters concept, I suggest you spend the time to familiarize yourself with it, it will help you immensely in customizing WordPress and in this case the uDesign theme. The two functions you mentioned are now being passed through respective hooks to be inserted into blog page loop and single post respectively, this allows for much greater flexibility in terms of what you want to do with those featured images and you can control them now without having to hack through the theme but from a “child” theme this way your customizations will be safe with future updates of the “parent” theme.
I have provided extensive info on the theme’s own hooks/filters API and a “child” theme with various examples to get you started in the support forum. Get your client to sign you up with their purchase code. If you’re interested you may learn more on this topic in U-Design Action Hooks and Filters Reference.

my response above also answers your second question about prettyPhoto, you could use the newly added filters to now modify the image’s HTML output in any way you see fit.

Thank you for your reply. It’s not that I’m not familiar I got the update last night, installed it on the site and was shocked when I saw two featured images in the posts. went over change logs and saw that you added a feature that was already there and worked. Like I said we had it already changed in the older version to prettyPhoto the featured image by creating a single.php in the child theme.
Another thing that happened with the update is that now the default thumbnail image is not displaying where there are no featured images like in the category pages and where we have [udesign_recent_posts ... show_thumbs="1" ]
I will be going over it this weekend to see what broke where and try to fix it. Thanks
shouldn’t be having these issues, certainly other users haven’t reported such issues, but then again it’s important that one doesn’t hack through the theme’s core files to apply customizations, this is why I added the hooks/filters API to the theme to help users avoid doing that.

Just wanted to add a quick update the default thumbnail disappeared because Get The Image had to be updated with the theme, once we updated all the required plugins it works fine. Just wanted to let you know. Been working on this site for a little over a year and I thought the owner had made major changes but not as bad as I had imagined. Now got to prettyPhoto featured images again. Thanks

Hi there,
Love your theme however this is driving me nuts…
Im trying to update to the latest version.
Ive installed a pluggin so it will overwrite the previous version however it just says the following once tried to upload :
Destination folder already exists. /home/linweb36/c/cbsinfo.co.uk/user/htdocs/wp-content/themes/u-design/
however i only uploaded the old version and its not the updated one. just keeps failing ?.

Let’s see why you’re having such hard time updating the theme, shouldn’t be the case??
This sounds to me like might be related to file/folder permissions issue on the server side. I need to further investigate, please email me 2 things:
1 ) your WordPress site’s admin access (you could create an account for me just make sure to make me an administrator)
2 ) FTP access to your server

Here are some of the basic requirements for the site: - multipage, - multievent, - carousel slider for posts/pages, categories, images, media (videos, maybe audio…), enabled for multiple instances, - WooCommerce 2.2.x compatible, - event management built in (events, sessions, speakers) or compatible with major event management plugins (like Event Calendar, Event espresso, EventBrite, etc.), etc.

i could not see any RTL option in your theme , i hope you dont expect we should work in code and do right to left and change ” float” or etc . also we did not see any talking about RTL in your document , i saw rtl.css in theme folder but with defining ” WPLANG ” in wp-config.php it could not read rtl.css , we should do which steps to load the correct css for RTL !?
also i did not find .po and .mo and language folder in theme , please convey us to correctly load the right css file and we see Right to Left direction on Front-End view in browser.
today i was try get refund from envato because i was surprised that did not see any RTL option in uDesign Settings ( for example we bought some other Theme and they had good document and support around RTL section for us ) , but before i ask refund or complain to Envaro i am writing this note here for you to sure you will help or not. thanks

There is no specific requirement to have a RTL option in a theme settings just because you’ve seen that in some theme, as the conversion is usually set through other means (usually globally through WordPress or whatever translation plugin you’re using), the theme will however react to one such change and load the necessary styles. In any event, if you have any questions, please post them to the theme’s support forum. We have a whole section there dealing with Translations and languages under the FAQs.

I’m asking because I need a consistent experience across all browser versions.
Feel free to test it, IE7 is way on the way out these days and not even supported any longer by Microsoft itself so I personally would not worry too much about it.

I think it’s the best theme in stability is concerned.
- It is not overloaded. - Very very customizable.
I would just like to recommend the following.
The people who have no knowledge of design, just see the Demos. To know that you can get with the template. I recommend you create more demos, I think it’s the only thing missing. For example demos (gym, hosting, cakes, plumbing, etc, etc).
Good luck with sales. I hope that maintenance is durable.
