Looks like your theme is outdated. WooCommerce had MASSIVE updated recently thus so did Total. Please be sure to update your theme and plugins so your store can function correctly – and hopefully that helps!

1. How can I WPML-translate the paths for the social media icons in the top bar? When I add them in one language via Customizer it overwrites the other language.

2. I bought Visual Composer as I wanted to create my own grid elements in the Grid Elements Builder but when I install the plugin, it doesn’t show up anywhere. Does this have anything to do with Total, maybe?

Hi Andreas,

1. Sorry I don’t quite understand. Do you mean the links to your social profiles? This would be the same no matter what language…or do you have different social accounts for each language?

2. You don’t have to buy the plugin to use the Grid Elements Builder, this is fully supported by Total already – http://totaltheme.wpengine.com/base/advanced-grid-builder/

If you don’t see the option anywhere, maybe try going to Settings->Visual Composer and making sure it’s enabled for the current user ( click on a user and make sure it’s checked).

2. I checked the settings and the only option I can find for Visual Composer is set to “Show Visual Composer and Default Editor” for “Administrator”...but the grid builder doesn’t show up anywhere. Shouldn’t it be visible in the WP sidebar Menu?

Love the new Nou·Veau theme. I imported the theme options file into Total, but my test site did not change. Do I need to import the sample data as well to change the look of the site to the way Nou·Veau demo site looks? thanks

Correct. If you had already imported the base demo, I would highly, highly recommend starting from scratch. By importing the theme options what you would basically be doing is just changing the typography and some colors, the main bulk of the demo is the actual pages created with the Visual Composer.

Single Image alignment – I think that when you made the latest version now you can’t choose the alignment for single image? I.e they are just the default left aligned. I really need to be able to choose whether the image is centre, left or right aligned… please help!

I am having trouble opening my visual composer, just on certain pages. It opens on my home page, but with some of the pages (such as “Present Simple”) that I access through my menu it just continues with the “loading” icon and never actually opens. I read in a previous post that this could be because of a 3rd party plugin. I deactivated all of my plugins (except the VC) and the problem still continued. Any other suggestions on what the problem could be? Thank you in advance.

ps: I did notice your theme is pretty outdated, I would highly recommend updating to the latest version of the Theme and the Visual Composer. It may just fix your problems!

Oops!! This whole time I thought I had been updating, but apprently I was not doing it properly. I have now set up the built-in auto updates but, it has not solved my VC problem.

I am in the process of deleting the plugins one by one because that is the only troubleshooting option I have not tried. The problem is with the front-end composer, but only with some of my pages.

Most issues in the Front-End editor are caused by an outdated VC plugin.

Hello, I have bought my second total theme for doing a web for a friend that liked mine. I am a very beginner on this stuff.

I have some questions:

I am using 1&1 hosting and I can only import files smaller than 2mb, so they helped me with total.zip via ftp, and the rest of the sample data I am doing it file by file, so here the questions.

In my downloaded sample data file I only have agent and healthCare files, Noveau skin file does not appear. Under the theme panel-> theme skins I have: base, agent, neat, flat, gaps, minimal graphical. But in http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/demos/ neat, flat, gaps and minimal graphical, doesn’t appear.

As to import theme options, I imported the theme-options file from each folder (health care, agent and base). Is that correct? Where are theme-options file for neat, flat, gaps and minimal graphical?

Now I have agent skin active, but when I preview the webpage (i did not make any changes) it doesn’t appear the same as in the demo, it just appear some post and pics, with no top bar menu, neither slider, just as if it was a sample page form wordpress but the only changes are colours. If I go to Pages I have 125 pages with no categories to know if they are from base healthcare, neat or what… How can I find for example home from agent skin? Do I have to set up the manu manually? Is it possible to activate any skin and work directly from the same things I see on the demo.

I think you are confusing “Skins” with “Demos”....

Skins – These are options in the Theme Panel to allow you to easily change the way the theme looks. The Skins load an extra stylesheet to the site with some custom styles – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/creating-removing-theme-skins/ – I use screenshots from my live demo for the skins thumbnails just as a little preview of what it could potentially look like.

Demos – These are live demos if you want to import them and have your site look like that as a starter point. Some demos may be using a particular skin.

So basically when you import the sample data you would choose the demo you want to import and import the sample data and theme options for that demo. Importing the sample data for each demo and theme options for each demo is going to create some problems.

Hi Aj, It is a bit confusing for me, because when I go to theme panel—theme skins I see for example base that I thought it was a demo, and if I change from agent to base, nothing changes. But If I choose gaps, here it changes style, top bar color, etc. Any way, do I have to “uninstall” theme options? Actually I don’t know which demo I am using, I just start creating pages from zero, and some times I go to pages that you created to see how you did some things. Do you recomend me to reset everything, install only base demo and only base theme options? What would be the change from installing base demo or other, and other theme options.

Hi, I just went to import/export and click reset options, aparently where it says export settings it came to what it looks for the first time after importing. So now I only imported base demo theme options. What it is now supposed to change? do I have to choose base theme skin?

Hey guys, love the theme! I just updated things and now the images are running over into different columns and laying on top of each other instead of staying contained in their own column. Any idea why this is happening? In all previous versions the image width would stay contained to the column.

I bought this template a while back but was using X up until last week. I’m PUMPED to be using Total now. I really tried to do as much as I could on my own without having to use this support forum but I’m officially stuck. I updated WordPress to 4.1.1 and am on Total 1.32.1. I grabbed the Envato toolkit to update Total but after grabbing the API key and plugging it in ‘Available Themes’ isn’t showing anything after 24 hours.

Would you say the best way to update Total at this point is using the method below?

I just checked Dashboard/Updates as well and I’m not seeing Total under the themes, just twenty twelve, ” thirteen and ” fourteen.

Just updated the version number to 1.0.0 but still not seeing Total in my themes to update. How long should it take for Total to show to be updated?

Basically the update notice should show up right away if you entered the purchase code. If the built-in method isn’t working you can try the Envato Toolkit – www.wpexplorer.com/envato-wordpress-toolkit-guide/

One thing to note is that auto-updates don’t work on Multi-Site installations via my built-in method due to some security loop-holes so the system I use (wp-updates.com) doesn’t allow it. So if you are on Multi-site maybe that’s why it’s not showing up?

I just updated to the new 2,01 theme and the Simple Parallax feature changed. It went from a single image across the full screen (not repeating) to automatically repeating the image.

How do I reverse that change to have the non-repeating image with parallax behavior like before? I tried using Advanced parallax to no avail.

I set it to repeat to fix some other bugs. The best solution is honestly to upload larger images for your parallax background. If your image isn’t very big you would be best to use the non-parallax stretched background.

If you do want the parallax to work how it did before you can try adding this custom CSS to your site:

Its works, but I have different problem with menu. I set local scroll menu – eg. HOME, FIRM, OFFER, GALLERY, CONTACT (each section is on the same site). When I click OFFER, then both section are activated in menu: FIRM and OFFER. When I scroll down, the OFFER still activate in menu and another section which scroll to. How to set it?

You’ll need to share the URL so I can see the issue. The way the theme works is it highlights the menu item as it becomes visible on the page.

Hi, I found another bug that occured with the last update. In ‘Blog Grid’ element there is lack of inputs ‘Include Categories’ and ‘Exclude Categories’ (screenshot: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--60Mj0LJf4o/VQoKXc7jWlI/AAAAAAAAdKk/KVzbQy5LenQ/s2048/Capture.JPG). It’s very important for me, becouse the main page of my website is based on this element, replicated, with different content. Now in every sector is the same content. Could you please fix it?

This isn’t a bug, this happens if your Visual Composer plugin is outdated. Please be sure to update it because you will also run into other problems – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/update-plugins/

The Include/Exclude categories function is actually more advanced now so you can easily select them – http://cl.ly/image/173S1o0E2G0m – but it requires an updated VC plugin.

Pretty much every time you update your theme, just make sure to update your plugins as well and that will help prevent any errors like this.

You’ll need to be a bit more specific so I can help you out. Which email icon are you referring to? Top bar social option, social widget, staff social…

The fix should be pretty simple (removing esc_url from the output of the link). But I don’t know what file to point you to, without knowing more specifics – thanks!

I would HIGHLY recommend you update your client’s site so they don’t run into issues in the future. Also it’s a real pain to provide support for outdated themes because I have to track back and see what the code used to look like in the theme and then suggest a manual fix. Which is a bit beyond the scope of theme support.

Sorry for the delay. Hopefully you’ve got this working by now, but it should work. You could double check that there is no custom CSS in the text field under Appearance -> Customize -> Top Bar -> General -> Content.

I want to turn off “Custom WordPress Gallery Output” but can’t find it under the latest versions Customize section – please help!

The theme uses it’s own settings and since Total 2.0.0 they have been added to their own admin panel here – http://cl.ly/image/0B28193x1b0J

Because Total uses it’s own settings I removed them from the WooCommerce panel to avoid confusion and prevent your site from cropping extra image sizes.

Hi! I just updated the theme to the latest version and all of the sudden the option “Include categories” from blog carousel slider is inactive. Of course I can add it in the code in Classic Mode, but why is that?

And is there any reason for slowing down?

You have to update your Visual Composer plugin so that all the composer options work properly – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/update-plugins/ – otherwise you won’t be able to see the field for selecting categories.

Pretty much whenever you update the theme, make sure to update your plugins as well. You can see the versions supported by the theme right in the changelog – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/changelog/

I do see the mobile search issue on your site, but it doesn’t happen on my live demo – http://totaltheme.wpengine.com/base/ – Did you add any custom CSS that may have caused this? Or do you have any active plugin that may be affecting the search field?

If you go to Appearance -> Customize -> Menu -> Styling : Mobile Sidebar Menu you could select a custom background for your “Searchbar Background” which should override anything that is causing it to break.

I have the same bug, I find out that the Background options are doubble in the Design setup. See images. I have done it with set the Wp background option to “Fix” and “Center”, (not just in the customizer). But this case is not in all WP installations.

2. uncaught exception: The jQuery version that was loaded is too old. iLightBox requires jQuery 1.8+

  • Yep I fixed the background issue in 2.0.1 ;)
  • Those Network errors you can pretty much ignore. The jQuery version error though is a pretty big error, if your site is loading an old version of jQuery you probably have some plugin loading jQuery the wrong way and you’ll want to fix that up. Total just uses:
wp_enqueue_script( 'jquery' );

To load the latest version of jQuery available in WordPress, so if your site is loading an older version it’s being caused by a plugin.

The permission error I am not sure of, because I need a bit more infor then just the notice you posted above. What’s the URL with the error? Fixing your site to not load an old version of jQuery may actually fix that last error…

you´re right, it was the WHMCS plugin wich load the old query. Good that I have the option to switch the load of querys to “None” in the plugin. :)

I just installed the newest version of Total on two sites. Apparently you did away with the fixed background image option. Now, the background scrolls with the page, which is not what I designed the site to do. The background image will look like crap if I make it tile. I need to go back to the fixed image background. How do I do that? Thank you.
