Oh ok, this is actually a Firefox bug (works fine in other browsers) and should be fixed in the latest version of the Visual Composer. Please make sure you have updated the Visual Composer plugin to version 4.4.3 – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/update-plugins/

Hi, first of all i love the theme! But after last update when I go to customizer, when I make some changes and try to saved them, no changes where made.(No new plugins or something like that). I just updated the theme. Oh yes one other thing when the new post is published it take some time to be desplayed in “post types grid” (one or two hours).

what I would like to do is have the first row on the page up against the breadcrumbs and full screen width and the second row would be indented as seen on many of your examples ie http://totaltheme.wpengine.com/base/services/ 1. how can I lose the margin between the breadcrumbs and the first row? write a css rule or is there something built in? 2. How can I have the site default at full screen? in appearance>customize under layout I choose full width – but this is not the same as content >full screen which I only seem to be able to access on the page and not as a site default – please advise. and now I have these messages:

- - 2.3.0 is a major update so it is significant That You make backups, and test extensions prior to updating your theme, and 2.3 assurer extensions are supported. Developers shoulds catch up with develop.woothemes.com to see what has-been happening in core.
do I do these updates in WooCommerce and plugins?

Plugins are completely separate from Themes and must be updated on their own.
Other (poorly coded themes) may include plugins that are built-in to the theme, but this is not the correct way to do things and Total does not work like that.

Hi again AJ, I have some problems with editing slides in revolution slider, I am trying to change font weight,size, font colour, hover colour, and nothing happens. Also I save try to overwrite the current selected class, and nothing happens, some times it changes completely and appear little font in black colour.
Hope you can help me with this, this is very important part of the webpage.

I have 4.6.5. The only way to see changes is to refresh safari and going to my url and refresh web page. But this is kind of difficult to work with… because sometimes I make a change, and it only changes in my webpage after refreshing.
This is my second regular licence, I install total 2 week ago, and I didnt install any plugin, just the ones you recomend (revolution slider, templatera, contact form, WPbakery visual composer, Layer slider did not appear after the installation).
In an other comment I told you that I imported all theme options available from demos and base, could this be the problem?

Total should be loading all font-weight variations and character sets available by default.

I’m missing the Category filter option on the post type grid element.
The filter options that provides category buttons on top of the grid is very nice for the blog, but would be even more cool on custom posttypes (pulling any categories that the selected posttypes have).
Any chance of this is already solved somewhere ?

Whenever you update the theme, it’s crucial to also update your plugins so they match the supported version numbers as mentioned on the changelog – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/changelog/
For the blog filter…do you mean “Post Formats” (image, video, audio, quote…) ?

Hi Andreas,
Altering the file isn’t ideal, because you’ll have to do it every time you update the theme. I have updated the author header output to use the same function as the rest of the site so you can easily tweak them via theme filters.

In your case use the is_author conditional to make sure you are editing the author title only.

Hi Aj – Noticing something strange. I have several Total buttons that are linked to Paypal using “blank” link. But instead of opening in a new window, they all open in the same window. Thought maybe it was some sort of incompatability with Pay Pal but I created a sample button using the default google.com link and the same thing happened.
This is a known bug I discovered the other day and have fixed for upcoming 2.0.2 – sorry for the bug! Will be releasing the update with the fix probably tomorrow.
Hey, dude. I ran the newest update. I have one issue with a blog post. For some reason this post keeps redirecting to the homepage: http://pointeradvertising.com/social-media-templates/
If I change the URL, the page works again. It’s that specific URL it redirects.
I made sure I didn’t have any images that had the same name as the post URL: social-media-templates (sometimes pages and posts get messed up when I upload an image with the same name as that page or post URL – this can happen with any wordpress site, not just your theme), but it just messes up the page visually, not a redirect. I have also deleted that page and re-inserted the saved template. Any ideas? I can change the URL, but I was hoping to keep it the same so I didn’t have a broken link out there. Let me know if you need a login.

Can you go to Theme Panel -> 404 Page and make sure you have the setting for “Automatically 301 redirect all 404 errors to your homepage.” disabled then re-load the page to see if you are in fact getting a 404 error for that page. It sounds to me like it is doing that, but I am not 100% sure because you may have the auto-redirect setting enabled.

I would recommend just changing the slug though since you said that works.
ps: There could even be a post/page in the trash with the same slug and that would cause issues. Maybe that’s it?
I purposely emptied the trash so there wouldn’t be a duplicate URL, but I wish that was it. lol. When I look on my dev site the post still works (I didn’t upgrade my dev site to the new theme and plugin versions). Just annoying. I want to know why the hell it’s doing that. It’s only that post… Meh. I’ll change the URL.

You would have to do a search in the database to make sure the slug isn’t in use already.
Or…did you try going to Settings->Permalinks and re-saving the options to refresh your rewrite mods and see if it fixes up?
Yep, the post stops redirecting when I change the permalinks to “Default.” When I change back to custom or postname , it redirects. I had my host check the DB and it is the only post with that URL, so no conflict there.
Upon researching online, my htaccess file might be causing the issue. Something to do with the ”/index.php” portion: http://strangelyperfect.tv/11622/wordpress-permalinks-generated-but-not-redirected/
My htaccess file contains:

OMG. So this morning I check the post and the new URL I changed it to last night is now redirecting to the homepage. I changed it back to the original URL and it works again: http://pointeradvertising.com/social-media-templates/
What if every URL I use does this? If it’s not something related to the info in my htaccess file, could it be something in the code of that post (this is the only post it’s happening to)? I used VC to create it cuz there were a bunch of screen shots needed. It is more robust than the rest of the blog posts.
Are you 100% sure you don’t have any plugins active that might be causing this?
Does your host allow you to create a “stagging” version of your site. It might be good to try basically with all plugins de-activated and the default theme just to make sure 100% it’s not coming from a plugin or the theme. I am pretty certain this isn’t coming from the theme. There is only 1 function in the theme for redirecting posts – http://cl.ly/image/240R2P0k2i0W – but it requires the field to have a value and changing the slugs wouldn’t affect it.
I only had 2 plugins installed – duplicate post and unattach. I deactivated them both, and the theme. The issue persists. That’s why I thought it could be an issue with the htaccess file. Yesterday I changed the URL again and it was still working this morning. Let’s see if it stays. I’m about go go Griswold on this shit. lol.

I may have when I initially made the post back in 2014, but I have since deleted it (twice) and created it as a new post. Oddly, the URL on my dev site still works. The only difference is that it’s on the last version of the theme. Not saying it’s the theme, but that is the only thing that changed when I moved it over to the live URL. All other plugins and Wordpress are current on the live site. Unless the URL changes again, I’m content to leave it alone. I spent enough time on this silliness and I feel bad for wasting your time. I have 2 other issues that I haven’t even told you about yet.
Well, my site fell apart. lol. As I was doing stuff in it today, it started to dismantle itself. Pages reverted to backend editor, custom css disappeared, a whole bunch of stuff. So I had my host port over the dev site again and the issue resolved. The tech suggested it may have been something to do with PHP Serialized data. I thought I’d post it here in case someone else has the same problem. He said:
Sometimes WordPress or certain Plugins will store PHP Serialized data in the Database. When it does that, you cannot simply drop the dev. from the domain name. The shorter name will affect the PHP Serialization because the character positions will be wrong. I have a special script I use that compensates for this, and adjusts all of the Serialized data. I’m not sure if that is in fact what happened here, but it could be one good explanation. I don’t know who moved it for you the first time, or how they did it. So it is difficult to say what exactly happened. I was just pointing out one possibility that I think is much more likely than any kind of malicious activity.

Another thing which I just cannot seem to change. The color of the sticky header/menu 2 style with the healthcare theme. It is green but I need it in other color but eventhough normally I find all the CSS inmediatly, this time I cannot seem to find it so I can make CSS changes (since it seems there is no customizer option for it)

Can’t you alter the menu background for this skin via Appearance -> Customize -> Menu -> Styling: Main
ps: The “Neat” skin (not theme) adds the green color and a light gray color to the background – pretty much that’s it. May be easier for you to just use the Base skin (which doesn’t load any extra stylesheets) and then customize from there.

I just installed the newest version of Total on two sites. Apparently you did away with the fixed background image option. Now, the background scrolls with the boxed layout, instead of remaining static as the visitor scrolls down the page. The background image will look like crap if I make it tile. How do I make the global site background image fixed, like it used to be? Thank you very much.
My issue is that I had the Parallax setup with a stretched full width image and now they are all boxed. There is no longer any option to keep the images full screen with the parallax. I spent a long time setting up these pages and shooting the photos for them and now they are not displaying correctly. This is a frustrating situation as I directed a lot of traffic toward my site today.

The fixed background image is still working when testing locally…So that shouldn’t be an issue, if you are having an issue with the fixed background please share the URL so I can see what may be going on.
You’ll need to share the URL also with the parallax issue, it’s very hard for me to help you without seeing the actual problem live. I made some adjustments to these pages but this is as good as I can get them to look now. http://craigwilliamsdesign.com/explore/ & http://craigwilliamsdesign.com/contact/ until the update these pages displayed the images in the parallax all the way across the screen on all screen sizes, now they are boxed. My homepage here http://craigwilliamsdesign.com/ I had to disable the parallax completely and use a fixed image. Overall these are very minor details, but it’s frustrating because it’s not the way I designed the site to look. Thank you. I will remember to use url’s if I have to post in the future.
Oh I see, you are referring to the spacing on the left/right side of the rows?
This is being caused by the setting to remove the margins between columns. Which you enabled on these rows (and not really need because you don’t even have any columns in them).
I have added a tweak though to prevent the bug for upcoming 2.0.2 but you can just edit your columns and disable the field as well and it will fix it. Or you send me a private message for the updated file to upload via FTP.

Thank you. Adjusting the setting back on the margins worked on the images on the explore page that were set at 2000×500 px. http://craigwilliamsdesign.com/explore/ On the Homepage and Contact page it did not work. I based the original images off of the pixel size used on the images for the full screen parallax in the demo at 1280×848 px I finally ended up resizing the two images on these pages to 2000×1325 px to make them go full screen and work with the parallax again. Thankfully it was only on two images.
While I enjoy the new features with upgrades I always hesitate to update the theme and know that I will need to set aside time to find all of the things that changed. With this update I had to adjust the below settings:
1- All Images in Image Slider had thumbnails and dot navigation turned on and once saved the caption was activated, I then had to turn off the option for that. 18 pages total were affected.
2- Breadcrumbs were automatically back on and I had to turn that off globally.
3- Parallax Images turned into boxed images and are were not working as full page or stretched images to span the screen. This affected 3 of my main pages that I shot specific photos for and designed with this feature based on the demo specs for image size.
4- Changed the format of the Faq’s page. I prefered the original style.
5- An odd mobile drop down menu appeared in my main menu then vanished after I began working on other fixes.
Overall I love the theme and updates and appreciate the support offered. It’s just a lot of time out of my busy day to make these little fixes, especially since I have 2 websites that I run with this theme.

I received an email from Google Webmaster Tools yesterday stating that there are significant mobile usability issues and it will affect SEO.
The most glaring issue was “Viewport not configured” on all pages/posts.

The viewport is definitely added, if you open functions.php you can see for yourself on line 670 the meta_viewport function which hooks into wp_head.
Have a look at your site source code to make sure it’s there and if it is, I would just ignore that error. Probably just a bug on their end.

Hum, in your source code I see a background color defined but not an image. Please go to Appearance -> Customize -> General Options -> Site Background and make sure it’s defined for your site.
OK I put the LA-at-night image back up as the background pic. And it scrolls when that is not what I want. It needs to be static while only the boxed text and images scroll. What I need to know is: If having the image static is still an option…where did it go? Where is that option located? It seems to have vanished.

I have a question about the blog grid on my homepage.
Context I want to show exactly 4 posts on my homepage. Furthermore it has to be possible to select which posts to show. I made 4 posts Sticky to show these posts.
I’m using the blog grid with settings: - Ignore Sticky Posts: No - Post per page: 4
Problem The Blog grid shows to many posts: It adds the sticky posts on top of normal posts. So if I make 4 posts sticky, than it is showing a total of 8 posts. I thought to be clever and set ‘Post per page’to 0, but that shows me all of the posts in stead of just the sticky ones.

The best way to do what you want is actually to simply create a new category, I would call it “Featured” or “Homepage” and then use the Include Category field to show them in the Blog Grid – http://cl.ly/image/3a1Y2f43341U
By using the category it also makes it very easy to quickly add/remove items from the grid.
ps: The Ignore sticky posts actually prevents all sticky posts from displaying, by default if a sticky post was added even 4 years ago it would still show up at the top, that setting is to prevent that. It’s not to exclude them from the number showing. Hope that makes sense.
