We do not support overlay color for segments. We do the same only for videos. The image should be uploaded by applying an overlay in a tool like photoshop.

After the rewrite change, pls make sure you visit Settings->Permalinks once to make sure the changes take effect. Otherwise, you might see 404 errors on your site.

The video is actually a video background – http://pupunzi.open-lab.com/mb-jquery-components/jquery-mb-ytplayer/ and hence part of it can get cut off just like in a background image, we may not see the full image depending on the foreground height/width. The function you are looking for is probably best addressed by revolution slider plugin as documented here -

You can drag text widget in to footer widget area one and insert the basic image code .

Thanks for the feedback. We have not had many requests for this but the requirement is certainly useful and make the widget flexible. Meanwhile, pls feel free to extend this widget in your child theme and use the customized one. Or probably easier – have you tried using the [show_custom_post_types] shortcode in a text widget?
