Hello, How do I get the featured episode to have a transparent background like so many of the sites I’ve seen? As you see, my header image doesn’t look clean. http://www.keepyourdaydream.com/ Help from anyone with the answer would be appreciated! -Marc
I figured this out. Well… my developer did it for me. Just wanted to close the loop
.archive .author_profile .social li .linkedin:before {
content: "\f08c";
}
.linkedin.social_icon:before {
content: "\f08c";
}
Thanks for this, looking for a way to gather all these customization suggestions/ideas somewhere so more people have access to them.
I’m trying to get the blog to display properly using a feed, specifically from the FeedWordPress plugin. Two questions.
The blog isn’t creating excerpts—it’s just displaying the entire blog post and then continuing down the page indefinitely. The sidebar is also displaying at the bottom of the page instead of the ‘right’ side; how do I get the feed to display exactly like how you have it on your demo? With excerpts and the sidebar, with a limit to the amount of blogs it shows before creating a new page.
probably should of linked my website: floatpodcast.com
Also, on the ‘podcast’ archive page – http://floatpodcast.com/podcasts/
The thumbnails for the podcast are larger. I’m using the feature image dimensions specified in the documentation, but mine are ‘blocks’ versus yours which look much better as rectangles.
Hi there,
The blog displays excerpts that you create with a read more tag. As of now there are no “forced” excerpts on the blog, but this might be something useful to add as a feature. For now unfortunately you will have to edit your posts to create excerpts.
As for the sidebar, there seem to be some stray “ ” tags in the post from December 9th 2014. Please edit the post and make sure to switch to “text” view so you can get rid of the stray “ ” tags.
As for the podcast archive, the images are created by auto cropping. What are the dimensions of the featured image you uploaded?
Thank you for the prompt response. I want it to look good on the background header. The images are 1920 × 450 (As specified in the documentation) what should they be so they crop better and look good as the header? Nice find on the div error! I’ll look into adding forced excerpts
EDIT: Looks like the plugin “Auto Excerpt” works flawlessly for this
LAST question—how did you get the ‘social’ features added like you have on your blog/podcasts?
For the social media icons, you can use the theme options to set those up. On top of that, if you go to Users > Your Profile each user can set up their individual social media icons which will displayed on author pages. I hope this answers your question
Using the theme here: http://www.vgrshow.com/
And my feed is here: http://www.vgrshow.com/?feed=VGRShow
There doesn’t seem to be a duration field in the xml feed to denote the length of the show.
As such all my episodes have missing times. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/vgr-show/id972445777Hi there, one question: are you using the version 1.1 of TS Podcast Feed? The iTunes duration feature was recently added in an update. After updating, you might have to force your RSS feed to refresh. Do that by opening a post and saving it again. You don’t have to edit or change something within the post, just save it. That will trigger the feed to refresh and load any new settings or changes. And just for your information, the duration of each episode is only displayed when you open your podcast in the iTunes software not in the browser preview as far as I know. I hope this helps, if you’re still having issues with this, please let me know.
Updated the plugin and it’s now showing in the RSS feed. I’ll check iTunes this evening, but I’d imagine it would all be fine now.
Thanks.
Hello, great theme so far, thank you for continuing to bring updates. I am having issues getting the Podcast archive to display on the homepage and to get the page itself to show as you have it on the archive page in the demo.
My site is > http://lawnradio.com/
Thank you
I figured out why the archive page itself was not working. It was because I had the Past Shows “Podcast Archive” page set as the Posts Page under the Reading Settings area in wp-admin. However, still trying to figure out how to get my podcast to show on the home page. Thank you!
Ok, ignore my comments above. The answer is you must have more the one show. If that was in your documentation I missed it.
Thank you.
Question rgds the new Version: Cool, that the© in the footer now can be edited that easy! But I am lazy: Do I need to change the 2015 manually at newyears eve?
Yes, unfortunately. We’ll think of a workaround for this, but for now the tag line is super customizable, this includes having to change the year on new years eve.
maybe add some variables like $YEAR or so
Hey Guys! before we buy is there anyway we can know if your theme can have a membership site attached to it ?
anything guys? we are looking to get this soon..
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for showing interest in our theme. Unfortunately, Podcaster does not specifically support membership sites. Depending on the plugin you are going to use, it will probably work, but this theme doesn’t have templates that specifically support any of the membership plugins out there. You might have to do a lot of customizing. And since no membership plugins have been tested with this theme yet, you’d be doing it at your own risk unfortunately. I hope this answers your question, sorry I can’t be more specific.
Greetings,
I saw a comment asking about a similar feature and wanted to follow up. We have a current podcast and an archive from a previous podcast. I’d like add the archive to my site as a separate podcast. Is this possible?
Thanks in advance!
At the moment, Podcaster can only display one feed at a time on the website. This is something that might be added in the future, can’t promise anything though, I’m sorry.
It’s OK! Thanks for the speedy response. We’ll find a way to add it for now. Also, loving the layout and working with it is a pleasure.
Thanks, happy to hear!
Hi, while speeding up the System I found a very little issue in the Podcaster-Files-Archive: The file “podcaster\img\header-loading-ani.GIF” need to be renamed to “podcaster\img\header-loading-ani.gif” to avoid a 404-error in the speedtests. Olaf
Thanks for the heads up, looking into this.
A question in the round: Does anyone has experience speeding up a Podcaster-Site with the Minify-Features of W3-Total-Cache? If so and you are interested in exchange, let me know: Olaf€leben-fuehren.de
Hi, I want my web page looks exactly like the sample you provided, my knowledge in web dev is limited, so could you please give me some simple instructions to achieve this outcome? Thanks. I’m talking about the link below.
http://themeforest.net/item/podcaster-multimedia-wordpress-theme/full_screen_preview/6804946The documentation comes with instructions on how to set up the theme. Please take a look at the video which explains how to set up your front page and blog page. Unfortunately we don’t offer set up, but I hope this helps a little. If you have any more specific questions, feel free to post them here or contact support (support@themestation.net).
Pre-Sales Question: Is your theme compatible with Woo Commerce and BB Press Plugin?
Thanks for your interest in Podcaster. Unfortunately it’s not compatible with WooCommerce or BB Press.
Hi, I have a question rgd. the Link-Posts ( e.g.: http://testlab.dcademy.de/motivation-aus-der-sicht-der-hirnforscher-nicola-fritze/) They show the Link at the very top in da black box and this Link beginns with “some” Symbol. I want to replace this with the (to me) more appropriate “fa-external-link”, but I don’t find, which PHP-File creates it. Can you give me a hint,where to search?
By the way: REALLY LOVE THE PODCASTER
I am happy to hear! The file that controls the link post is called format-link.php and can be found in the ‘post’ subdirectory. As always, I advise using a child theme for making customizations
yes… <Desperation> And I don’t find it! </Desperation> Headline AND artice will be created by this line: <?php the_content( __( ‘Continue reading ? ’, ‘thstlang’ ) ); ?>
I don’t find, what smuggles this “infinity”-Symbol in… Any hint? All my listeners did feed back, that they don’t expect the black headline as an link and the symbol wasn’t understood.
You can override the symbol using CSS. This declaration controls the icon:
.post.format-link .entry-content > p:first-of-type a::before { }
Find it around line 1930 in the main style.css. You will have to edit the font-family if you’re using a different font as well as the content and replace it with the correct value. If you’re using Font Awesome, no need to install anything further, it’s already included in the theme. Override it with something like this:
.post.format-link .entry-content > p:first-of-type a::before { content: ”’numberofyouriconhere”; font-family: FontAwesome;; }
I hope this answers your question.
sooooo cool support!!! Thanks Mate, works
Hi, In the blog index page, how do show each post in excerpt rather than full text? Thanks.
You can set what kind of excerpts you want to use in the theme options. Please go to Theme Options > Front Page and scroll down to the “Type of Excerpts” setting. Choose “Force Excerpt”. This should do the trick!
Hi, I have a question about your use of style.php. As I understand it, you generate a CSS-file based on the selections (link color etc) in the preferences. However, If I want to use a child theme, style.php is still pulled from the parent theme making these settings hard so customize. Even if I identify the correct style attribute, I cannot add this to my own style.css in my child theme to override the default setting.
Is there a way around this that does not involve me having to manually edit the style.php overtime you release an update? I would like to set styles in my own css that overrides any settings don in the parent theme.
You have two options, use !important when declaring the CSS settings you would like to override or simply set the options using the theme options. All settings in style.php can be set by using the theme options. No need to override them, if you can set them in the backend. I hope this helps!
Hi, I will try to override in my CSS. The reason for me to change the settings in style.php is that I need to have more than one colour for highlighted text because I have different backgrounds (see http://logistikpodden.se). So, the best way would perhaps be to increase the number of options in future updates?
Override does not work. I tried the following with no result:
.latest-episode .main-featured-post .mini-title { color:#fff; !important }
When I look in the inspector (Safari) the style is still fetched from style.php line 30.
There is a small error in your css declaration. You put the !important outside of the semi-colon. It’s supposed to be color:#fff !important; This way it works.
Thank you for the great theme. I am having an issue with my front page. It seems like the update to the Redux Framework (or either another plug-in) ended up removing all of the Soundcloud functionality on my website. I tried going into the Podcasts tab in the theme to resolve this, and I am having no success. Is there something I should be doing?
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/p2jd37ro4h622hw/AADMahOWWOwQJONvb8_61Crta?dl=0 – this includes the before updates and after updates image. I want my site to look like the before image again.None of the other podcasts are appearing on the homepage as well.
Let me know if there is anything we all can do to resolve this.

Hi there, Thanks for the screenshots, but I think I’ll need to look at the website directly to tell what is happening. Do you have URL so I could take a closer look? If you don’t want to post it here, you can email it to support@themestation.net
Hi there,
Sorry for being grumpy just frustrated. Great theme just needs more reliability. Purchased through a tech friend who helped me build site (cerw) 14 Oct 2014 will send through receipt to Envato.
Feed working again but front page has problems. Have a look at site gonogo.com.au
The bug on your page is due to the WP 4.1 update and has been taken care already. You are running an old version of Podcaster and will have to download the newer version. The newer version also has an improved update function so you can update your theme from the WordPress backend.
Please forward your receipt to support@themestation.net. Looking at the situation at the moment, you will probably have problems with updates and support in the future, since the license for the theme you’re using is not under your account, but that of your friend. This is probably why you didn’t receive emails with update notices either, they probably went to your friend. Unfortunately there is nothing much I can do from my end and I have to verify purchase before I give support. Please keep in mind that one license is only valid for one site, so I hope this theme is only being run on one page. This guarantees that every thing is fair, and we can give support and updates for each purchase.
Does your theme work well with the Easy Digital Downloads plug-in and its extensions? We’re looking for the Podcast capabilities but also to do digital download sales on the site. Thanks!
Podcaster has not been tested with the Easy Digital Downloads plugin. It will be looked into and I’ll report back.
Hi there,
I’ve been using Podcaster for some months. It keeps getting hacked. It seems to have some leaks through the plugins or something. At one point all my podcasts disappeared and the blog page became the front page. I’ve finally got my site back into semblance of order but now my upload has been reduced to 2MB rather than the original 100MB. Don’t know how to fix this.
I’m fed up with it to be honest, its really fucked up my podcast schedule. I’ve gone from the front page of iTunes to nowhere.
Hi,
it doesn’t seem like you purchased Podcaster from here, though. Or at least not with the account you used to leave this comment. I hope you understand that I have to be able to confirm your purchase before I can give any further support. Please leave a comment with the account you used to purchase Podcaster, and I’ll gladly see how this can be solved.
Do you have a changelog that’s not from December? Thanks.
Change log has been updated! Sorry about that.
Thanks!
