The two themes are similar, the main difference is that NewsMag is not that wide and this provides a lot of advantages when writing articles (for example pictures are easier to use with the smaller width, it’s also easier to make the texts to look nice).

Also Newspaper 5 should be out in one month as a free update. It will be the most advanced and well tested theme we ever made.

For ads in posts we have this in the panel: http://screencast.com/t/wrtudL3iP It will inject an ad after a number of paragraphs.

Hi,

if should be possible. The homepage content is made from ‘blocks’ and each block works on 1 – 2 or 3 columns. The blocks can be mixed and mached to form the homepage.

2. unfortunately that is not possible without custom modifications since the theme was not designed to work like that. But it is a grate suggestion and I’ve added it to our issue tracker.

Hi zoedesign, 1. The theme has style 4 http://screencast.com/t/6mkpi05f2j2 that is similar with what you requested but unfortunatly it’s not over the top black menu.

2. We generally recommend to not use links in the main menus and use # as a url instead as we use on our demo. The double touch (and go to url) solution that is used sometimes is not very user friendly either (as it’s not easy to close a menu once it’s open). We are still searching for a better alternative for this on touch devices.

Hi,

The functionality and performance are similar. The main differences are in designs/appearances and the content area width which slightly differs from one theme to another, newspaper’s grid width is 1170px while newsmag’s width comes around 1021px. Other differences are also appear regarding features, some of the blocks are present on one and missing on the other, as well as some other features like smart sidebar feature or smart lists or some of the post templates. We’re also working on a major update for newspaper (v5.0) which it will be out in approx. 1-2 months. The choice depends on your needs.

The newsmag tech stack is the same as the original theme version only the stack is built using different theme settings to give it the appearance suited for a tech version and yes you can also use ads anywhere you want in the content of your homepage using the Visual Composer page builder.

Yes, the speed booster plugin moves js/css resource files to the footer so js scripts or css stylesheets and the theme generated custom css will load later therefore creating this unstyled appearance while your custom chosen style is loading.

Another approach regarding this would be to make all your appearance changes to theme’s style.css file so that your chosen style loads like default.

For example if you set a different theme accent color then edit your style.css file and replace all references to the default theme color and replace it with the one you want. I’ve tested this using the latest version of the social counter plugin (2.9) and various facebook id’s and found no issues however using your facebook id the counter isn’t updating.

What version of the social counter do you use? Could you please also test this using other facebook id’s and see how it goes and if your’re not using the latest version of the social counter plugin please update it from the /plugins folder that was provided within the theme’s files and make sure it’s the latest version.

That behavior is due to your chosen theme settings for which the them generates an extra css on page which when the page loads is applied in cascade, first the original/default style of the theme is loaded then your customized style loads that’s why this occurs. This could be avoided if you change/replace the original theme color with your chosen color directly in the style.css file of the theme and using a text editor with find and replace search after #222 or #222222 – this is the default theme color and replace it with your color.

The loading issue of your iamges is due to the lazy loafing feature which we have include in the latest version of the theme (1.7). Thsi featuyre waits for all the image to load then it apply an animation effect on them which will turn off the opaciti9y on iamges you scroll donwe the page.

Currently we are working on addin and option to turn the lazy laofin effect on/off and other option for this featyres. This will be availabe from theme;s next version.

If you don’t need/want this feature you can use the custom css from below to make the images load with the page.

Add the css below in the custom css section on theme panel:

opacity: 1 !important;
}

..or to apply this just on mobile use the one below:

@media (max-width: 767px) {

The theme is test and works fine on Mac’s Safari version you can test our demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/ ..but not on windows Safari version. If you refer to Safari version for Windows please note that it was abandoned in 2012 and does not support the latest web tech.

1) could you please explain my scenario with a screenshot if possible, because in the theme Panel> Ads where you have to paste the AdSense code it has 3 conditions like desktop, tablet portrait and mobile

2) I already know the option of enablling or disabling the smart scroll But my point was do I have to do it, will it be violating the google AdSense policy if I keep the smart scroll on?

1. Basically you just have to add the ad code into one of the ad places like this – http://screencast.com/t/C1aQbwjOM – the theme will retrieve only the client data and it will automatically generate ads for each device. If you don’t set any it will load the default sizes which are defined in the code – http://screencast.com/t/9oWvvJZkLo20

2. From what we know yes, you have to disable it if you use adsense.
