how do i get a blog page called “blog” to display posts from a blog category without the blog page getting confused with the Archive page for the “blog” category?
if i have both a page and a category with the same name the page doesn’t display as a normal blog but as a long one-page archive…

You could either change your permalink structure or simply rename the slug for your blog page to something else to allow them to be two separate entities

is there a way to have posts be both classic masonry display on one page and Masonry Image Tiles on another page? this would be ideal – right now the Salient options demand one choice or the other, where I’d like the option for both where I i choose…
Unfortunately as of now you can only use one masonry style at a time
really need both and willing to PAY you for a template that can use the classic view for a blog while the Salient settings are for Masonry Tiles… please let me know?

hmmm – ok i’ve found a workaround:
create a ‘dummy’ Project for each Post I want to display Masonry Tiles and use the handy “External Project URL” on the Project Settings to point to the Post.

I’m using the Necter Slider for videos. The videos are 5s each and I’ve set the slider to rotate at 4750ms. However the video often seems to ‘jump’ as they seem to not restart when the slide comes up again.
Is there a way to force the video slide to start at the beginning of the 5s on each loop. It just looks really bad when it jumps back to the start when you’re watching it even though the video is longer than the slide duration.

Yes, you’re correct from the looks of it. Switched to the classic option and it is now looping fine. I have however chosen ‘fade’ as the transition between the slides, yet it still seems to be sliding?

Three timely questions:
1. Is there a way to just show one home page and not assign a menu so that there is no menu bar but just the logo on the left? If so, how?
2. If this is not possible, in the slider widget, using a one page parallax, is it possible to have the side widget links scroll up and down on the page when each link is clicked? If so, how?
3. With the Grid Gallery, is there a way to first show square thumbnail images and then once they are clicked the full image shows up? The issue is that with the Grid gallery, some images are vertical and some are horizontal and important parts of the images are being cut off. For example on a vertical image, we see half of the face. If there is a way to place a customized square image and then once clicked, it opens a different image file that would be great. If so, how?

3. This would only be possible if you used the portfolio element instead of the vc gallery – you can still make it a lightbox gallery by setting that option, but you can use the custom thumbnail upload with the featured image for two separate images to be used

how to import the dummy data with all the images and WooCommerce styling?
within the dummy data folders, for example the ascend theme, we have two files: dummy-data.xml demo-theme-options.txt

You’d need to also import the theme options dummy data in the import/export tab of the Salient options panel. Just open up the demo-theme-options.txt and copy/paste the data in there. (Make sure you’re using ecommerce one for this)

1. Did you add it into the extra content editor (the second one on your project edit page)?
2. You can use a VC gallery element on a single project page to show as many images as you need in a lightbox but in a main portfolio display the gallery will cycle through all the project featured images rather than showing a gallery for the project clicked

I have a question regarding the solid top bar above the header/logo/nav area. How do I remove/hide this? Inspecting the element tells me that it has a padding-top: 28px; I don’t know where it would have gotten this styling from..

Hey – Salient v5.5 has separated Visual Composer into a plugin and is no longer automatically built in – this means when you activate the theme you’ll have to still install the Visual Composer plugin via the admin panel (there will be a prompt at the top of your screen). Cheers!

Do you have any idea how to fix the auto lightbox using W3 Total’s Cloudfront (with CDN)? It appears that when the CDN specifically is active images open a new page rather than in the lightbox. After Googling this issue it seems this is a common issue with some lightboxes serving CDN images.

Perhaps I just need to move the scripts in the page so any suggestions? Also which scripts are relevant to the lightbox functionality.

I have narrowed the problem down to the “CDN>Host Attachments” section of W3Total. If I uncheck this option the image loads from my server instead of the CDN and the lightbox works. Once I tick the option the image loads on the CDN in a new window.
External image attachments open a new window using either setting.

Hey – I can see it now opening in the lightbox correctly without also popping a new tab. Which browser are you still seeing that occur on?
The lightbox is only working now because you asked me to uncheck the “Host Attachments” option. The lightbox indeed works fine without this option because the images are loading from my server. However I need to host the images from my CDN, and it’s when I check the “Host Attachments” option that the lightbox breaks. I have checked “Host Attachments” back on again so now the images are served from my CDN and the lightbox stops working again.

I have updated the page with a screenshot of the current settings, I have also disable all caching settings so only the host attachments is now active.

Thank you so much for the previous responses. I am facing one issue in the portfolio page also. When i click on the portfolio image to view it large, i get everything as required except the Close (X) sign . It is quite different from what i saw on another website using the same theme ( http://brickvisual.com/projects/ ). I want a similar ‘Close’ sign as in this website.

Here on my computer also isn’t happening, I’m using Mac. But in 50% of users using PC, it’s happening, specifically in chrome.

Hey again – the icons not loading are part of a font file and are not images, I don’t believe altering the path would change anything but could you confirm if there are any problems present in the network tab on your browser when you’re encountering them not loading?

1. the markup i’m seeing in the page doesn’t match to what it should be when using the Salient VC – are you using any additional page builder plugins?
2. Try using the visual composer portfolio element rather than the page template
3. It seems a plugin you have active is causing this – please try deactivating the ones you have active until you find which is doing it

Both the starting logo and default logo are being set to 50px for the height on your setup but it appears one of your logos has blank space in the img itself on the top/bottom

2. If you want to just use the main header and not the secondary you’d need add those icons into the header.php file manually

Hey – the dummy data set for that is included with you download, it’s located in the folder “one page dummy data”
Here with the download we got only clean all purpose dummy data and modern creative dummy data only we didn’t find any folder with labelled one page dummy data.

Hey again – I’ve just verified that all 6 sets of dummy data are included in the current download from here. If you’re using an older version of the theme you’ll need to download the current to get the one page scrolling features to get the setup to work in the first place

i’m working on your theme an i’m at the end of the page design but i have two problems, 1. when i install WPML my home page desapears form the admin panel, it just comes white and i just can edit it if i disabble the pluggin. I already alerted to the guays of the pluggin but i am wondering if the theme is experiencing some problems with it.
2. i installed “contact form DB” and the problem now is that even if i disable WPML can not edited the home page, it doesn’t come white but is like the visual composer gives an error. So i don’t know if the problem is the visual composer but it’s not on the plugins to update it…
