Any idea how to deactivate the font/adder from the theme if you are not using it? It’s causing some errors and speed issues on our server. wp-content/themes/Total/fonts/fontawesome-webfont

This file is soo small it wouldn’t cause any speed issues. What “errors” are you having? The only thing I can think of causing an error if you have another plugin that is also adding this font. Can you share the URL?
To remove it you would have to completely remove the font-awesome.min.css CSS file which adds the icon fonts throughout the theme which will cause actual issues.

Yes this error means either the file is missing or it has permissions set too securely so it can’t be accessed. Can you check via FTP and make sure all the files included with the theme in the “fonts” folder are actually on your live server?
This error should not be happening, you can see from all my live demos that it isn’t an issue.
I have a horizontal Navigation Bar (Visual composer element) inside the Row. The Row is stretched. I have this element on many pages so I want Row’s color to be controlled by custom Css. So I add custom css style to this Row. I want the row to be opaque so I assign in css: backround-color: rgba (255,255,255,0.5);
But after this the Navigation bar elements get this color too! So I get one opaque color inside another. It looks like this: http://i58.tinypic.com/5ufjg6.png
But I don’t want menu items to have background color.

First if you are adding a navigation bar across multiple pages I would like to save you some troubles showing you how you can manually add it to your site via an action hook 
Example: http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/under-header-menu/
That would go in a child theme functions.php and this way you don’t have to manually add your secondary navigation via the page giving you much greater control.
In regards to your background question, you have to show me the URL so I can see exactly what you’ve done, unfortunately from a screenshot I can’t really help.

You are using the Portfolio Grid module for this. There isn’t any built-in function to open it in a blank tag 
The only way would be to copy over vcex_templates/vcex_portfolio_grid.php to a child theme to modify it. Or use javascript to target those links and open them in a new tab.

Not sure what is going on but every time I edit the home page the visual editor just shows the shortcodes and disables the backend editor, not only that the page setting get reset back to defaults. So I have to re add the slider shortcode, set all the options back to what they should be each time the page gets edited.
Weird thing is, when I edit any of the other pages they are still showing automatically with the backend editor and the page setting are as they should be…. so this only happen on the home page?

I think you are having a bug I discovered with the Yoast SEO page analysis function. Are you using the WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast?

Where is the option in the theme panel to add or allow for breadcrumbs? Can’t find anything.
Appearance > Customize > General Options > Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs should be enabled by default though, so if you don’t have them either someone disabled them or you have your page header disabled which is where the breadcrumbs display.
I’m having a problem with my shop page. I’m not using woocommerce but I want to have a simple shop page. I made my page and published it, but once published it goes to the blog instead of my new page. Is there a setting somewhere I need to change? Many thanks.
How are you creating the shop page? It’s impossible for me to help you out without some additional info.
Can you also check at Settings->Reading and make sure you didn’t accidentally set your shop page as the latest posts page.
Also is it redirecting to your blog page or to your homepage which happens to be the blog?
I just created a new page and called it shop. I had my main page set to the blog posts and thats where the shop link always went. Odd! So now I’ve made a new home page and set that up under wp settings and made a separate blog page and now /shop shows the new shop page. Thanks for your help

Firefox Mobile for Android on Smartphone Bug
If I visit your Demo on my Galaxy S2 with Firefox, the offcanvas menu will do nothing. Klicking on the menu icon will not show the menu.
can you fix this? We like this Theme and would like to buy it.
Unfortunately I don’t have any way of testing it, the Galaxy S2 was released way back in 2011…none of the online crossbrowser testers I use support that device they only support 3,4,5,6 – so I don’t have any way to test and validate the error….
The mobile menu literally uses an on-click touch event which should fire on ANY device, it’s just basic basic javascript. I can’t imagine any device would have an issue with that

Sorry for my late reply, but we have chosen some other theme. The issue has nothing to do with the Galaxy S2. The Issue is on every device if you use Firefox mobile. The Mobile menue on freelancer is ok, but the template has other display issues on Firefox Mobile.
I have tested on Firefox mobile without any issues…oh well. Good luck with your site!
Slider Revolution self hosted html video is not playing on iPhone and plays on iPad but you have to press the video?

I posted the same few days back…couldn’t get your help… Hello, This is a crisis situation for me as am my client delivery has got stuck due to an issue with disappearing of the custom css. I request you to kindly help me! A day back, entire thing that I coded in the custom css panel suddenly disappeared! Fortunately, I had backup, I restored it and worked fine for approximately next 8 hours. After that, the same problem re-appeared! It seems that the content of wp_options table is being lost. My setup: Am using this theme in multisite network for single client and single domain. two separate instances in two subfolders are under a main domain. Nothing is lost in the first sub-folder, it remains as it is! But, problem is occuring with second sub-folder. And am using same theme in both istances, located on same server. The custom CSS is literally stored in the database using update_theme_mod() and retrieved using get_theme_mod() which are all core functions, so the theme itself wouldn’t be deleting it at all unless someone is literally going into the theme panel to the import/export section and resetting the theme options.
Is anything else getting “lost”?
Are you actually losing everything when looking at Theme Panel > Custom CSS or is it just getting lost on the front-end so you don’t see the edits?

Custom CSS and Widgets are stored by your database, not the theme…so if there are issues you may have to look into your server logs to see what could be deleting data from your database. Very strange!

I try to use revolution slider to create a testimonial slider with a static background image. I have enabled the “show background image”. and enter the background image url in the Appearance box in the template slider setting in accordance with its documentation but the background image does not show up. Please help.

This comes directly from WordPress not the theme, you’ll need to use a plugin to remove it if you aren’t sure how to do so using custom functions in a child theme.

That column is somehow outside of the main row, did you edit anything in text mode? Looks like the back-end shortcodes are jacked up and not closed properly or out of order…
And there is some sort of slide toggle content element on the page – http://cl.ly/image/3e0O0l2F2y1j that I have no idea where it could be coming from since it’s not something in the theme.

I have searched heaps and cannot find the answers, just lots of talk that I don,t follow about copying folders here and there…

This shouldn’t be the case unless your theme is outdated. Can you make sure you have the latest version?
Also, remember if you aren’t setting up a store you don’t have to use the WooCommerce plugin and you can de-activate/delete it.

This is the FIFTH TIME (!!) I am trying to get in contact with you for several issues I have with your theme, and I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY ANSWER so far.
1) Parallax effect. When I bought Total theme about 6 months ago I was looking for a template that integrates the parallax effect too. Total was claiming it had it. However, it only works on Desktop or Laptops. It does not work for smartphones. I contacted several times your technical support and I’ve been said you were aware of this issue and will fix it in following updates. Now, with the last updates it is even worse. Before, I was having parallax on PC while on smartphones a non-parallax, but centered and clear picture could be seen. Now, if I enable parallax (both for PC and for mobile phones, or just PC), the parallax is OK on PC but smartphones will show only a blurry image. For the moment, I deactivated the parallax effect until I have a fix for it. Even so, without the parallax, in stead for some images to be seen centered they are right sided… Any idea about how can this issue be solved?
2) I’ve also been writing several times about Visual Composer not working for the front end editor. In my last message I was telling you the only plugin conflicting with VC is Woocommerce. I cannot deactivate Woo because I need it. It is not a very important issue, as I can still use VC for the back end editor. However, I’d like to know if you have a fix for it… I tried, as you suggested, to increase the WP usage memory but still not working.
3) Every time I install a new update of your theme, the internal links I have under the “callout” button and even in some texts get broken and have to rewrite them again and again.
4) Every time a new update is installed, some pages modify their padding or margins
I will appreciate receiving assistance with these issues eventually…

1. Is your theme up to date? http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/changelog/ – I made a few changes how the parallax worked and it should be working well on mobile.
However, it’s highly encouraged to now use parallax on mobile because it can really slow down the scrolling on the site, especially when large images are used for the effect.
2. WooCommerce should work 100% with the Visual Composer it’s been tested several times and I just re-tested without any issues. I had a look for any emails from you with your logins so I could log in and see if there was an error in the browser console, but I didn’t see any logins for your site. I did see I forgot to answer one of your emails, so I did that
Is WordPress and all your plugins and the theme up to date? Are you sure there isn’t another plugin causing the error?
Is it only on a page using WooCommerce modules where the Visual Composer doesn’t work or is it on all pages?
3. That shouldn’t ever happen. EVERYTHING added by the Visual Composer, such as the callout button links are saved in your database, updating your theme only replaces theme files, so I have no idea what could be going on there…server error? But no one else has reported that issue either
I did update the callout button 1 time and you would have lost your link if you opened and edited the callout (not prior to that) but that will never happen again, maybe this is what you were seeing?
4. Again, paddings/margins shouldn’t ever change when updating the theme…no one else reported this and I haven’t seen it when I update my live site and test, so I don’t know what it could be. You would have to update your theme to the latest version if it isn’t yet and send me the link so I could see.

Thank you for replying eventually. Here you have my comments to your answers.
1) I would never bother you unless I have, first of all, the last update for ALL. Yes, the theme is updated, Wordpress, Woocommerce and all the plugins are updated. I noticed your recent changes to the parallax settings in the last update, but especially because these changes I can’t keep using parallax even for desktops only, as the image seen on smartphones will be blurry. Activating parallax for mobiles is even worse. Before your last update, at least a standard clear image was displayed on mobile devices. And even if I had “parallax for mobiles” activated, the page was not loading slow on smartphones. The images and effects I use are not “heavy”.
2) I am sure the only plugin that prevents VC Front End Editor from working is Woocommerce. I tested it with all the other plugins deactivated. And VC is not working for all the pages. I know it is strange, but it is what happens.
3) Again, I know it sound rare, but it was exactly what happened with the previous 2 updates (except the last one). Especially with major updates, I noticed. I had to rewrite the “callout” button links again. Moreover, in one of the updates I had to rewrite completely even the texts associated to the callout button! I am speaking about the “per page” callout buttons, not the sitewide callout button in the “Theme Customizer”
4) Now, after the last update you’ll see it OK because I corrected the changes back. I had to modify the padding and margins for the affected pages. I suffered this issue twice. I tried once fixing the padding and margins both in pixels but, after the update, the layout failed to obey the settings. Once updated, I could force the layout to obey by changing the affected parameters from pixels to %. After a new update, the layout was failing again for the same and some other rows or pages. So, I had to change some of them to px again…

- Turns out there is an issue with cover image size on really old IOS devices which is probably what you are seeing in regards to the “blurry” image.
You can tweak the CSS to prevent that but it won’t look as good in modern devices or try enabling the parallax for mobile devices via the setting.
- Do you see any error when trying to load the Visual Composer with WooCommerce active? Sounds to me like probably just a memory limit issue. If you want send me a private message with temp WP and FTP logins so I can look.
- You should never have to re-write any content, it’s all saved to your database. Are you by chance using the WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast? I discovered a bug with their page analysis causing it to reset custom settings and visual composer settings – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/disable-wordpress-seo-by-yoast-page-analysis/

AJ…I solved this. It looks like the script code you are writing out in header-functions on line 348 forces the $logo_height as an integer with no “px” at the end. I added “px” after the string and it fixed it right away. Here is my fixed code:

Ah you are right, its because before I was using width and I changed it to css to set a max-width instead of a fixed width. Good call !! Updated and version 2.1.0 will be shipped out soon, finishing up some new demos and landing page assets then it’s done. Glad I saw this before pushing out the update – thanks!!

For the callout box you should have some basic design options when you edit it, for more advanced tweaks though use custom CSS.
Oh sorry for the confusion, I was actually hoping for the actual custom CSS I would use to change the color of the text within the tabs, I dont have any custom CSS and not sure how to create my own.
As for the callout box, there aren’t really any basic design options. I cannot change the background color, or text color. The only design options focus on the button.

Sorry it’s me again, AJ, with a VC issue this time : there is no longer a field to translate the “Load more” button in grid design i’m afraid (just a way to change its style, size, and colour). I’ve tried to look into po / mo files of the plugin, but couldn’t find anything, and i haven’t found in which VC file it might be hard coded…

You’re right, it’s the “read more” button that can be translated for every item in VC grids, not the “load more” for loading more items, it’s a shame…
