Hi,
I would like to know : How can i get differents primary menus on differents pages ?
If i change the code, will the next update of Invent erase it ?
Thanks !
That functionality is already built in. You can specify the custom menu for a page in advanced page settings box in page edit window. Updating theme won’t affect data or options. Only the code changes in the parent theme will get erased. You can make changes in the child theme.
I am still wavering on this purchase. If I want to have a side menu on each individual “Department” page, how would I do that?
It would be great to have users be able to navigate between departments with a simple side menu instead of have to go through the main menu.
Can this be done with your theme?
For example, can the departments be listed in a left sidebar, on all department pages – similar to this, http://demo.cactusthemes.com/university/blog/
or better yet, as just text. Thanks much,
We do have some threads in the support forum which talk about how to add sidebar to individual department/course pages. Even then, for a large project like yours which perhaps involves feedback from multiple people, it is best to hire a good developer who can help meet these requirements. I am sure many more customizations like these will crop up as you meet your client reps and get their thoughts on what the website should contain, how the navigation should be etc. We can only provide limited support for customizations.
Thanks for the response. I am pretty savy at development. I just wanted to know if “page options” were available to add sidebars to pages. Most themes have this – ie. where I can change the page template from fullpage to left-sidebar and then pick the widget that goes in the sidebar.
It is unclear whether your theme allows for such customization on each page??
Thoughts?
It does allow you to add sidebar for pages/posts and but not for custom post types like departments/courses/staff etc. which have their custom design and hence we have not provided support for sidebar for single course/department/staff etc. The pages which list these custom post types (archives) have the option available.
Hi – Is this compatible with the latest version of Buddypress?
Have not tested it. Should be compatible since we do follow best practices. Thanks for your interest.
Can you test it? I would like to know if it’s compatible before I buy.
Pls give us couple of days time and we will test it and get back to you. Also, you will need to make some styling changes(CSS) to make everything blend well. Thanks
Are there any videos to show you the set up process. I don’t have the luxury of setting up the demo site, as my site already has over 200 pages of content…
You can have a look here -
http://support.portfoliotheme.org/faqs/invent-theme-how-to-replicate-the-demo-site-in-10-min/I would still strongly recommend you setup a demo site for reference. Reduces the learning curve quite a bit. Just have a subfolder with wordpress installed on a different DB and install demo site on the same.
Hello! Love the template so far. Quick question: Is it possible to include the site logo in the same line as the menu? Currently, I’m only able to place the menu below or above the logo.
The dummy website has an example of what I’m looking for: http://portfoliotheme.org/themes/?theme=Invent
Thank you for your time!
The logo should get placed automatically on the same line as logo. Can you reduce the number of parent level items in the menu and see if that makes a difference? You can always use the dropdown to accomodate more items in the menu. I hope I am getting your query right.
Hi again,
After creating a custom sidebar it is not appearing in the widget area. Am I doing something wrong?
Nevermind it just took a minute to process my changes
Pre-Sale question. Will importing the demo data give me the code in text editor for the pages? I prefer working that way over visual editor.
Thanks for your interest. Yes – importing will provide you with the code in the text editor. We ourselves work initially with the text editor during development and switch later to visual editor during testing.
Okay great. Thank you!
Hi there, got everything going and imported the demo but it’s not showing any pages and posts. I tried to re-import and it got a few things but it keeps failing to import a lot of files. I’m trying to replicate the demo and currently it looks like this:
http://soupkitchenfunk.com/lumbertonI’m talking about everything but the rev slider, I haven’t started on that yet.
Actually, I found the home page in my pages section. However, it’s not showing up on the actual direct URL – it’s on soupkitchenfunk.com/lumberton/index.php/home. I need it to be the direct website URL. How can I fix this?
You just need to set the “Home” as the front page in “Settings > Reading” in your dashboard. Pls see this post here for further help https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Reading_Screen .
Got it. Thanks for that – great theme!
Hello,
i wonder is there a posibillity for right sidebar? I would like to create a right sidebar in which i would place gallery and testimonials?
You can have a right sidebar anywhere a left sidebar is supported. I hope you are referring to pages and posts which currently have left sidebar shown in the demo site. Thanks for your purchase.
Thanks for your answer one more question is it possible to have both? Left and right sidebar? Left used for navigation and right for gallery and testimonials?
Sorry that is not possible. Pls use column shortcodes to simulate it.
Is it possible to sell onsite course with this theme ? What would be the selling process ?
It is possible via LearnDash, which needs to be purchased separately. Pls read more about LearnDash at LearnDash.com. The theme has been tested and is compatible with this paid plugin. Thanks for your interest.
Can anybody give me the theme instructions and documentation please
There is a folder named “Invent documentation” seen when you unzip the theme download bundle. You just need to click on the index.html file inside this folder.
for some reason my site isn’t showing the demo content at all http://qualitymarketingave.com/
Pls email me a temporary login to your site via the contact form on my profile page – http://themeforest.net/user/LiveMesh#contact and I will take a closer look. Thanks
Hi,
I developed a site locally using mamp with your theme. Everything worked perfectly until I tried to bring the site live. Now that it is up on the server, the site works but it seems that everything relating to the theme is malfunctioning. Icons in the dashboard which relate to the theme are broken links, and the pages aren’t displaying properly.
Here is the site:
http://makinmediamobile.com/icppd/
Is there an easy fix for this?
I see whole lot of 404 errors on the site on the dev tools console. The theme has not been installed right. Pls check.
Turns out there was an error uploading it. Re uploading it did the trick.
Thanks!
Great to hear. Thanks for the update.
I noticed that the navigation bar drop down menu is shifted a little bit to the right. Is there any way to center it aligned with the menu item?
Also is it possible to make the menu transparent in anyway?
Thank you.
A link to the page will help. At present transparent option is not available with the theme. Will need custom CSS to achieve the same.
Pls email me a link to your site via the contact form on my profile page – http://themeforest.net/user/LiveMesh#contact and I will take a closer look at the menu shifting. Thanks
I’m having issues with uploaded images not displaying correctly on this page http://ld.messianicschool.com/our-courses/
First I uploaded an image that was the correct size for the product box and it looked pixelated. I tried uploading higher resolution versions of the same image and they still look pixelated and blurry. All image files are PNGs.
When I view the images in the media library on my WP site they look fine, but when they are displayed on your theme they turn blurry.
The image looks perfectly fine in Photoshop and I’m saving them for web. Why are they blurry and what can I do to fix it? Thanks!
$image_size = 'square';
I’m afraid that didn’t work, but this might be an issue with the pinnacle rather than the Invent theme.
Not sure why that comment was deleted. That didn’t work, but I think it’s actually the fault of a plugin I’m using. Thanks!
Great. Thanks for letting us know.
Can we setup quiz platform for employees using this theme and learndash?
Do you have separate quiz demo without the courses?
Yes, you can setup quiz platform for employees using learndash. Pls visit LearnDash demo site to see all the possibilities with creating quiz – http://demo.learndash.com/. The theme is compatible with features of LearnDash, including quizzes.
One more quick question: Does the segment short code work when the theme is “boxed” (not full width).
In other words, can I have a “segment” with its own background in the middle of a page that is boxed?
Thanks,
Yes, it will work. You can check our demo site here -http://portfoliotheme.org/invent/#
Yes you can have a segment with its own background.
Any plans to add visual composer so we can add your features without using short code? This is a great theme, but unusable for my clients without visual composer.
Thanks.
Follow up question: when you say the theme is “compatible” with visual composer, does that mean your shortcodes will show up in it?
Thanks.
Thanks for your interest. At present, we do not have plans to incorporate visual composer for this theme. The shortcodes will not show up on visual composer. The theme comes with a shortcode builder that you will need to use to build the site.
Hey – this is a great theme. But after a long time searching, I am likely buying another product. I realize you can’t meet everyones needs. And really, this is a great looking theme. But if it helps, here is why I am looking else where. Lack of visual composer (this is a major reason). and no mega menu (no big deal, i can buy one, but would be nice.)
I may end up buying this theme some day, but I can’t handoff a website to client and expect them to know how to use shortcodes. This is a university site and will be used by multiple departments. Just too much of a learning curve for too many people. Good luck.
Thanks for your feedback. We may support mega menu later on if we get enough requests. I believe the visual composer or any other page builder is useful only for the home page and rest of the content is either a custom post type with easy input fields for inputting content or just rich text content. Page builders have limited use in this type of template; at least, that is my observation.
Is it possible to change the number of staff shown in the staff page to 10 instead of 8?
Also is there a way to have the staff page be placed as a page section in the homepage of a website?
'posts_per_page' => 10,And also pls make sure that you have set “Blog pages show at most” to 10 in Settings > Reading. 2.You can make use of shortcodes to display staffs in page section. For example you can use post snippets carousel shortcode/Post snippets shortcode.
[segment background_color="#eeeeee"] [heading2 title="Our Staffs" pitch_text="Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer elit arcu sit proin a vel porttitor risus."] [post_snippets_carousel id="staff-carousel" post_type="staff" navigation="true" post_count=6 image_size='medium' display_title=true show_meta=true display_summary=true show_excerpt="true" excerpt_count=10 hide_thumbnail="false" navigation="true"] [/segment]
Hi! I’m trying to use the button embed short code and I see that I am given the option of these colors: “black, blue, cyan, green, orange, pink, red, teal, theme”
Do I not have the option of using a color hex code so that I can make the button any color I want? I’ve tried selecting the color two ways and neither worked. (below)
[button size="medium" type="" color="333949" href="http://www." ]Enroll Now[/button]
and
[button size="medium" type="" color="#333949" href="http://www." ]Enroll Now[/button]
Neither way worked. Please advise.
[button id="enroll-button" style="padding: 10px 20px;" color="green" type="rounded" size="large" href="http://targeturl.com" align="left" target="_blank"]Enroll Now[/button]And apply custom CSS in themeoptions as below -
#enroll-button {
color: #333949 !important;
background: #fff;
}
Thanks! I’m sorted now.
Hi! I’m a freelance designer and I have a client who is interested in a university website. Before considering purchasing this amazing looking theme I have a quesion.
is user (student) sign in available? and what are the features? I can see it has sing in but I’d like to know what are the users able to see or do once they’re logged in.
Cheers
Thanks for your interest. You can see some of the backend by having a look a this video.
http://support.portfoliotheme.org/faqs/invent-theme-how-to-replicate-the-demo-site-in-10-min/At present, we do not have a student login as such and you will need to create wordpress login for a student to provide access. The authorship is managed just like any other wordpress installation by creating users in wordpress admin panel. Hope this helps.
Hi! I’m also having an issue with the Page Section – Re-Order option. I reorder my pages and save the changes, but the order doesn’t actually change. Thanks for your help!
http://ld.messianicschool.comPage section reorder feature was removed since you can drag/drop and reorder the page sections anyway when you design a composite page. The reorder will not affect the page sections anymore.
Got it! Thanks! Although you should probably remove the re-order option from your theme. That’s going to confuse a lot of people.
We are planning an update in next few days to reintroduce sorting via reorder since so many are asking or it. I think it makes sense for a theme like Invent where the custom posts will require custom sorting.
