For some reason the downloaded CSS file has nothing in it?!
Which css file style.css or app.css? Or are you referring to an error message when you installing the theme “Stylesheet missing” if so unzip the download file first and install only the theme zip knowledgepress.zip
Awesome template!!
I was just wondering… can you create a way where we can link post categories to the 3 front-page boxes, instead of just being able to select static pages?
Thank you. Good point, i will add this feature in the next update.
Sweet!!!!! Seriously, that’s so awesome. I was stuck with not being able to separate categories
Not to bug or rush, but any ETA on a possible update? Thanks Kindly.
No ETA at this point.
Hi, was this feature ever updated in the theme?
Hi, after spending some time on this trying to implement it I decided against it as it would add complexity and I want to keep it simple for the users and there was no other requests for this feature. I would suggest you create modified page template for your use, thank you. Ivan
Ahoj,
I bought this awesome theme 4 days ago and iam happy. But I have a question about the sentence “Please Choose Page” (Responsive). How can I translate this one? I cant find this sentence anywhere.
Excuse my poor english
Thank you, appreciated. You can edit it in assets/js/main.js on lines 46 and 75.
Hi Guerilla
Great job!
I have my Knowledge base perfect with your theme.
I want to use it for another thing else and I need to publish news so I have created a new category ‘news’ but I want not to see it in the Knowledge base area because I don’t want to mix these two concepts.
Can I discriminate categories in the Knowledge base area or another way to publish only news?
Thanls a lot!
There are number of way doing this but i would suggest creating a custom post type for your news this way they would be completely separated. There should a plugin wordpress.org you could you to create custom post types.
Hi Guerilla
Thanks for your answer.
I have followed your advice and I have found a good plugin in wordpress.org to let me create post, tags and custom fields.
Thanks again!
I’m tempted by this theme, but why doesn’t it validate?
Can you please be more specific? Validate?
Can this theme be inserted in my exsisting theme: Fundify ? And get it to look like Kickstarter have? http://www.kickstarter.com/help
It would require heavy modifications.
How about printing options? After building several sections and pages using this theme (should say awesome theme) can I print it in a decent/organized format?
I think it would be an awesome feature if it does not exists already. Please advise.
Hi, this isn’t currently a theme feature but thank you for the suggestion, i will review it for posible future updates.
Menus Issue I have no idea how to place pages beneath a menu.
Example: I have the menu heading: Knowledge Base (just like you!) When you go to that page, I want multiple categories like “Admin, Tips & Tricks, Troubleshooting, etc”. How do I achieve this?
Hi, I presume you are talking about the sidebar widget, it is a default Wordpress “Custom menu” widget. Add the widget and select a menu to display. Hope that helps. Ivan
Hi Ivan! Thank you for your prompt reply. I really appreciate the prompt response.
But the short answer is “No”
It is not the sidebar widget.
It is the top menus. I have also emailed you pics yesterday to help further explain. Please see the image below too. I want to learn how to make my pages look like yours.
Ex. I will make a page using the ‘Knowledge Base’ page template. It has the right layout but I currently get a page that loads all posts randomly, without the headings and icons.
But your pages has the nice categories, icons, etc. Please help!
Those are not menus but categories. If you set categories to your posts or faq posts they are displayed automatically.
Thanks Ivan however I am still missing a step. Please stay with me, I am very close… So those are not menus- but rather Categories. OK, got that.
Would you be able to provide a few more details, maybe a step-by-step on how to achieve add Categories like that? Also, how does a category get the ‘Knowledge Base’ page format as it seems that is only for pages, not categories or posts.
Or send a link to a resource that could be of help?? I tried searching this and I am not even sure what to query. Sorry for the hassle but I wouldn't ask unless I had too.
“wordpress categories” in google: first link http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/
Hoping to see HTML version of this theme, it looks great.
Thanks, i am hoping to create HTML version within next two weeks.
I will purchase it as soon as you do
HTML version now available on TF: http://themeforest.net/item/responsive-knowledge-base-faq-html-template/4640819
Nice theme.
Would it be possible to attach icons to the categories like the articles?
Also, how about making the 3 large boxes on the frontpage having a hover effect on mouse over?
Keep in mind, I am no programmer.
Thank you, adding category icons can’t be done through the admin so you would have to modify the code. Thank you for the boxes hover suggestion I will have a play and see on that, no promisses. Ivan
Would you consider making it possible to add icons to categories?
Does the site support Multilanguage, i want to know if Articles are regular post, with categories. If a have a lot of articles like 20,000 Does the site gone search fast and cant i put the newest first (by last update).... Last thing, in a post : cant we see the ’”auteur” name (i like the last update), and have some next and back big arrow.
The theme comes with .po file for translation, for multilingual content you will have to use third party plugin. I havent had a chance to test the search on a site with that amount of articles, the most common search issue is usually the server speed. I havent had any complains ref the search speed yet. To add author to post will require loop modification. The knowledge base articles use regular posts. Ivan
Can this theme support multiple side bar set up or individual pages? is there a built in feature to allow this option? For example: in the back end panel I can select create a widget area for contact us page and put in my own custom widgets – different form the home page. If this is supported consider me buying this theme
Thank you for your interest. This is not a built in feature but you can use a third party plugins. Ivan
Our wiki is being set up as a troubleshooting reference, and it would be easier to organize and find information if we could sort the listings by title, rather than by date. There is a handy Wordpress plugin, WP Post Sorting, that I have been able to use with other themes to enable sorting by post title, but even though I have installed this plugin on our wiki, and set it up to sort key categories alphabetically, the posts continue to sort only by date. That leads me to believe that there is something in your theme that specifically requires sorting by date only. Is this something that can be adjusted, either by me or perhaps in a future upgrade? Thanks!
This template was first created in January 2013, so it is new and it’s understandable that the feature set is not as complete as it could be. For your future release list, could you kindly consider adding the ability to display the FAQ categories, filter the FAQ by category, and also to sort the items? Please remember that FAQ are typically sorted alphabetically, and the theme only sorts by date right now. There is a WordPress plugin called Q&A that does all of this beautifully, if you want an example. Thank you!
You can set categories to faq post see the demo site and you can use the Post types order plugin to sort the faq posts. Ivan
Is there a easy way how to “turn off” the 3 boxes on homepage without messing up the layout (mobile as well)? Thanks!
No, you will have to edit the code to remove the boxes (page-home.php)
.
What is the recommended size for the logo on the home page? Thanks!
Height 70px, width any.
Hi, I was trying to use custom sidebar on several pages with no luck. I used 3 different plugins, none of them can override the default sidebar. Do you have a solution for this?
Thanks a lot!
Can post plugin links please.
I was trying to use custom sidebar on Pages, using Default template
I had a quick play with the above plugin and… it works fine.
Would you mind sharing a screenshot? I tried to change the sidebars manually in 1.) page menu itself (bottom right dropdown) and also 2.) under Appearance > Custom Sidebars > Default Sidebars where I can assign a specific sidebar to certain category posts, pages, etc. None of this works. Thanks!
I have already removed it, if you need plugin support please contact plugin developer, thank you.
Hey Do you have any plans on adding buddypress or bbpress support to this? Also what would be nice is option to add multiple background option which can refresh/change on every page reload.. Regards
Thank you for the suggestions, bbpress is supported by the theme but not buddypress and i am not planing on adding support for buddypress at this point, thank you. Ivan
And what about multiple background option?
I am trying to keep the theme light so no, thank you.
Hi,
How do you change the default text in the search box on the home page? Example: “Find help! Enter search term here”.... to whatever we want.
Thanks!
Hi, you could change it in templates/search-hero-live.php on line 3
Hi, Thanks did the trick! How do you keep from disabling the main menu links when adding sub-menu pages?
Yes we already tried that… same problem?
jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {
$('nav > ul > li:has(ul) > a').attr('href', function (i, val) { this.removeAttribute("data-toggle"); });
$('nav > ul > li:has(ul) > a').attr('href', function (i, val) { this.removeAttribute("class"); });
});
Ok that worked!
