Another question – so I get this isn’t a CMS but I’m experimenting with making it a CMS replacement. I’m a bit fed up with Wordpress and wanting to keep things simple. That said, I’m not quite understanding some things – like how is this secured? How is the builder not accessible to public view? Is there a way to password protect or hide it? I’m not super savvy with custom code hacks but let me know if I could at least make it so that any person couldn’t access my Builder page. In fact, I’m wondering how this isn’t the case for everyone who’s purchased this—that someone couldn’t technically just access their variant builder and use it and install pages on their site.

Variant is not intended as a server-side solution – that is why there is no security applied to the Variant interface. Variant is simply a locally running builder to create html pages on your local machine then upload them to your hosting server. We recommend not uploading Variant to your hosting.

Interesting. I guess I wasn’t clear on this. I’m starting to see that this is not really useful to me so much… What I truly want is this exact BEAUTIFUL pagebuilding functionality with Variant but as a mini CMS or something where I can run a site without having to go into my FTP client (such as being able to upload images in a media dialog) or log in in a backend. Will keep playing around. Thanks
Sorry Variant couldn’t meet your needs. We hope to have this kind functionality in future, but at this stage we’re only doing offline editing.

Just bought and I’m in love – having an issue with navigation though. On the docs it says I will be prompted to save a new navigation menu when I edit the first item, but I never saw an opportunity to do so, so I’m unable to save menus for across pages. Can you advise?
Hi, we are aware that this feature sometimes has a problem detecting the edit of a new nav and are working on a manual command to use as a “Save Nav” option instead of relying on the detecting of edit.
I suggest deleting your nav and typing a letter into a link to bring up the dialog box to save the nav.

Hi, Just open your download package and navigate to the variant folder then open builder.html in your browser. Works locally, no need to install or upload.

Hi, Images are not supplied, the have been included in a heavily blurred version for placeholding purposes – we cannot redistribute most of the images due to license restrictions.

Ah right – you need to also have the images inside the ‘img’ folder of the template, then they will import

I’m trying to use some of the new icons (which are great by the way). I’ve updated the .css and font files but some seem to be missing. There may be other missing but the ones I’m struggling with are “piggy” and “settings in the PE pack.

Hello, I just purchased the builder and it seems to be pretty good.
Now the problem I have, is that I want to generate a Website and Upload it to my Server, but the CSS Path is not correctly referenced.
What I want to do is upload all the CSS and JS files to my “Styles” Folder, and that every website do a reference to this folder instead of the “Same Folder” reference it comes by default.
To me this seems a pretty straight forward and normal use for the template otherwise to just have it installed in my computer has no real significance.
Am I using this the incorrect way? Or else, how can I put the generated websites on my server???
Note that I have an additional restriction that I want to just copy the code to my CMS (for exmple Wordpress). This is another reason I cannot work with the Styles as intended with the Default Paths.

What happens when you open builder.html?
The webpage pops up and it appears as though it’ll load the builder elements, like the earlier version did, but the loader just spins.
Are you using Chrome or Firefox? It sounds like you might be using IE, which as per the documentation is not supported by Variant Page Builder
No, I only use Firefox.

I have a problem with the Twitter feed. None of the block versions display the feed. I’ve read the other comments and it looks like the script.js file should be edited in some manner. Can I have a few hints or point me in the right direction, please?
I mention that I haven’t modified any files yet, everything is as Machine exports the HTML, all code is raw as exported.
Oh, and wonderful job with both Pivot and Machine. Really amazing and useful ones! Congratulations!

Could I just confirm that you are working online? The twitter feed will only work when it’s on a live server (or live local server like MAMP). It needs a http connection to retrieve the data.

Already solved the problem. I was working on MAMP but feed doesn’t load, so yes, I already published the website on my server and Twitter feed showed alright. Anyway, thank you for the fast response and congratulations again guys, marvelous work!

Hi there! Looking at 2 of your products, Machine and Pivot, because they separately have blocks I would want to use. Do all of the Variant blocks come with all of the templates…or just the ones shown? And if only the ones shown, do Machine and Pivot share the same framework if I buy both and mix the code?

Each template is separate and only comes with the blocks for that template. While both are built on Bootstrap we wouldn’t recommend mixing the two items as you’d need to bring the style from one over to the other and this could cause confusion / visual conflicts in the CSS.
