Hi, I’ve spotted in someone else question that it’s possible to use an overlay header with a centred logo, but no mention as to how to do it, does it need custom CSS?
Thanks
Hi,
If you set the default header to style 5 – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/header-styles/ – for the site and you enable the Overlay Header on the page it should keep the centered logo.
Now if you want to have a different header style on the whole site but have header style 5 (centered logo) only on a specific page where you have the Overlay Header enabled you can manually use the “wpex_header_style” custom field on that page to define the style – https://cl.ly/lJUC – and it should override.

Hi!
I have local scroll buttons on a page and they work on my desktop but not on my iPhone. From what I can remember, they did work on my iPhone a few weeks ago. What could be the issue?
https://henrygrand.com/online-coaching/Cheers Henrik
Hi Henrik,
Wow, this site looks fantastic – if you set everything up, great work! One of the best Total site’s I’ve seen in a while do you mind if I share it on twitter and add it here – http://www.wpexplorer.com/sites-using-total/ – thanks!
Regarding your question….I do see that the local scroll isn’t working but I’m not seeing any errors in the console and the code looks good. Did you install any new plugins recently that may have broken it? Do you have local scroll on another page that is working? Are you using CloudFlare by any chance (I know their rocket js loader function is known to sometimes break this sort of thing).
- AJ
Hi AJ,
Thank you! Yes I have done it myself
Feel free to share it and add it to the list, it would be an honor.
No plugins but I am using cloudflare. Is there a workaround? The “scroll to top” button works though, I find that a bit odd.
Cheers
Hi,
Awesome, thanks and very nice work!
Yes, it’s very strange and I can’t locate the issue just looking at the code (may have to go in via FTP and try and mess with things to see if we can get it working). If you disable the CloudFlare function does it work? Also do you have a scroll button on another page (or can you try adding one to test).
The reason I am asking so many questions here is because your support license has expired which means you wouldn’t be able to log into the private ticket area – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/support/ – if you rather renew support (you can purchase a support renewal or you can buy a new copy of Total for another site – both will renew support for 6 months the latter just gives you an extra copy of the theme so most customers do that) and send me logins to inspect things closer you can (request your ticket be sent to AJ – I am the sole developer of the theme and owner of WPExplorer.com).
If you want to do more troubleshooting here via the comments that’s fine as well
Just need as much info as possible – thanks!
- AJ
ps: Shared on our instagram for now – https://www.instagram.com/p/BV0YFUuAf0N/ (it’s a new page and haven’t done much with our insta but will share on twitter as well later).
Hi,
AH, I found the problem… The row that the buttons were linked to was different on desktop and phone, so the ID wasn’t unique I guess. I added phone only buttons and changed the ID for the phone version, now it works
Cheers
Hi,
New problem. What’s causing this error message when sending a contact form 7 form: Unexpected token › in JSON at position 97
Thanks
The problem creates a spinning wheel btw, and the form isn’t sending.
Oh cool, glad you found the issue for the button
Nice!
Regarding Contact Form 7 – this is working for me. I just sent a test email (did you get it?) – https://cl.ly/lLkR
Did you already fix the form issue?

This type of thing is sometimes caused by caching plugins, can you try disabling the caching plugin you have active on that site to see if it works after? Thanks!
- AJ

ps: I noticed your support license has expired, if at this time you can renew your support license I would really appreciate it. You can also purchase a new copy of the theme for another site/client and it will also renew your support. If financially you can’t at this time I understand but would really appreciate it since I spend a lot of time and money supporting and updating the product – thank you!
Hmm, they don’t have a caching plugin installed.
I renewed support, I appreciate the help
Thanks!
So I do see the following in the source-code though – https://cl.ly/lMCG – which I do believe is causing the issues (I’ve had other customers have the same problem with the form when this issue was present).
- AJ
So how do I disable it?
Most likely the plugin was manually remove, which is a bit issue with this plugin because it leaves behind code
I’m not super familiar with the plugin, but maybe you have to re-install it, clear the cache and then delete it correctly? Can you please try? Thanks!

hello , before buy i want to see rtl file , but 500 error show to me in this link : http://totaltheme.wpengine.com/base/wp-content/themes/Total/css/rtl.css
The RTL file is located here – http://totaltheme.wpengine.com/base/wp-content/themes/Total/assets/css/wpex-rtl.css ( I use SASS in the Total theme so all the front-end CSS is minified for speed)
You can see some more details here – http://totaltheme.wpengine.com/features/theme-features/rtl-ready/

If you have any other pre-purchases questions, let me know!
Hello, I have been trying to get an answer for a couple of days now just to start using the theme, I am really hoping someone can assist. Here is the note from my developer explaining the issue.
“the plugin Visual Composer” is not working in page editor. When I am installing demo data from Paris template and trying to edit or create the page the Visual composer is not working properly’’ I also have screen shot of the code but I cant seem to attach a file to this thread. Hoping someone is able to assist. Thank you!
Hi,
I had a look at our tickets and previous comments and this is the first message we’ve received from you, so I’m not sure how you were trying to contact us – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/how-to-request-support/
Anyway, we are happy to help!
Regarding the Visual Composer issues we have a troubleshooting guide here which should be helpful – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/visual-composer-issues/
You can’t attach images via the comments but you can always host them somewhere online (dropbox, mycloudapp, imgbb, imgur..etc) if you want. That said, if the page builder isn’t working a screenshot won’t be of much help unless you can open the browser console and if there are any errors in the console take a screenshot of that.
If you aren’t able to fix the VC plugin issues following the documentation please submit a private ticket with temp logins so we can log in and make sure everything is installed correctly and there aren’t any server limitations – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/support/

The button for “Create a Template” is missing from Visual Composer. I hover over an empty square that says “templates” but the Templatera button isn’t there, this is both on Frontend and Backend VC page creation.
Hi,
I’m not sure what empty square you are referring to can you share a screenshot? The way you crete a new template from a page is via the button in the topbar like this – https://cl.ly/lHIr
Is everything up to date on your site?
Everything should be up to date, because I purchased Total this week. It is the actual icon that is missing, you have the VC and the + symbol but no little “template” icon. I was able to find a way around it, by adding a text block into a basic page and clicking “create template” in that main content entry area. It’s the little “layout” template button missing though. I could do a screenshot if you still don’t understand. It’s not in the nav bar of my frontend or backend VC editor. Only if I begin a new page, and there’s a choice (of the 3 choices) in that main entry window/box. (Also, I am a novice designer, but I like to think I’m doing okay) I love your theme!
Here is a screenshot: VC backend edit: https://goo.gl/kKYwcd
frontend: https://goo.gl/fk4wYj
That’s very strange! Do you have any 3rd party Visual Composer addons enabled? If so, can you try disabling them incase any of them are breaking things.
Also by any chance did you receive the Visual Composer plugin previously with another theme? Some theme developers modify the plugin and it can break things so if this is a case you can try deleting the plugin and re-installing it via the version included with Total.
Last if you want you can submit a private ticket with temp WP logins so we can have a look for you – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/support/
This is the first time I’ve ever seen the issue so I’m not sure what could be going on without looking.
- AJ
AJ, it worked itself out somehow. Thanks for your communication. One thing I notice is Facebook links in sidebar widgets do not show in Firefox browser (using Total Social Widgets). Should I start a new comment for this?
Hi,
Great I’m glad it’s working now! If you can share the URL I can look at the social links issue but without viewing the live site I can’t see what’s wrong…
My only guess is that the font icons aren’t working on the server – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/font-icons-not-working/

Hello There are a lot of problems on the site my Purchase Code dont work! Support is weak
please answer the tickets
Hi,
It looks like you submitted 1 ticket 16 days ago which our support staff has answered right away – https://cl.ly/lHWP – and according to our ticket system you viewed our response. If that isn’t the case and you didn’t see our email reply please check your SPAM box.
Also it’s very important if you need to follow up with us to reply to the email response directly. If you create a new email and try and email our system directly you will get an auto reply message (this is to prevent people who haven’t purchased the theme from emailing our support team). Maybe this is why we haven’t received any more tickets from you?
What do you mean by “my Purchase Code don’t work”? For the Total theme there isn’t ANY place where you have to insert a purchase code. The theme works without any sort of activation (unlike other theme’s which require you to enter a purchase code) as you can see from the main theme panel – https://cl.ly/lHnt – so I am not sure what you mean, please explain.
We are happy to help you out with anything you need all you need to do is ask
- AJ
Howdy, We just upgraded to the latest version of the theme, and now we have a link at the top of our website that says “skip to Main Content”. I can’t find out to get rid of the code. I’ve hidden it through CSS for now but where do I go to turn this off?
It’s just after the opening body tag: a href=”#content” class=”skip-to-content local-scroll-link” data-ls_linkto=”#content”>skip to Main Content /a
Hi,
This is added for accessibility reasons (for people with disabilities) and should be hidden by default and only displayed when you hit “Tab” on the keyboard when you first get to the site.
If you see the link live then there is a caching issue – be sure to clear all site, plugin, browser, CDN..etc cache after updating the theme.
- AJ
Hi AJ, how is going!? Hope you are doing well.
I realized there are some mistakes in my contact form page.. : / See here the url: http://rigostudios.com/en/contact/
1. What I mean, is when I try to send an email, the informative messages under the send button are not appearing correctly.. or at least the texts are not showing. Any thoughts?
2. As well the Send” / “Le’ts start” button itself, after clicking it to send the email, stays in a status in which the text is not showing either. Mmm.. Any solutions..?
See an example of what is happening in this screenshot.: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f7iks88p4xfdp53/no-texts.jpg?dl=0As well I wanted to offer you my help in design, if you might need anything related, just tell me it, it will be a pleasure ; )
Bests, Andrew
Hi Andrew,
I am doing well, thank you for asking. I hope you are as well
1. Yes the messages appear empty in the HTML – https://cl.ly/lHDj – double check the messages tab in the form settings – https://cl.ly/lHfK
And if you are using a translation/languages plugin make sure there isn’t any conflict there.
2. For the button looks like the focus style has no background and the text is white – https://cl.ly/lI2a – so you may want to add a color with some CSS:
.wpcf7-form-control:focus { color: #222 !important; }
ps: You should add the red border to the sticky header…
body #site-header-sticky-wrapper.is-sticky #site-header {
border-top: 8px solid red;
}
Hi AJ, Glad you are doing fine too ; )
1. Yep, there were no messages texts.. which is really weird cause I had them before..! and happened to me with other plugins as well.. like the cookies one. Anyways, thanks a lot ; )
2. That was it. To simply add the focus color ; )
3. Thanks a lot for the red border tip. I’ve added it. But at the end I though less is more ; )) so I’ve removed it completely..! I think the web now is somehow cleaner.
Man, thanks a lot and keep rocking!
Hi, The font size for certain styles isn’t reducing on mobile – www.cocreationmarketing.co.uk. How can we make it responsive or set a maximum size on mobile? Thanks Emmeline
Hi Emmeline,
Fonts can’t automatically reduce size because it’s impossible to guess what the end user actually wants.
That said, various of the Visual Composer modules do have built-in settings for responsive fonts like this – https://cl.ly/lHxi – these options will let you add specific sizes for each device (desktop, tablet landscape, tablet portrait, mobile landscape and mobile portrait).
If you have any issues with those please let me know!

Hello A.J., When we created our site, we imported one of your demos and developed it from it. We are very happy with the result.
Today, we started working on an e-learning sub-domain for our site. Total is already activated but we would rather use our existing parent site as a model – as opposed to going back to the original demo.
What method (if any) would you recommend to “import” our parent site – so that we can use the same look and feel for the sub-domain?
Ed.
Hi Ed,
Most of the “look and feel” will come from the Customizer settings so you can go to Theme Panel > Import Export and copy the settings from there to add them to the new subdomain site.
If you want to import all the content you can use the default WordPress exporter at Tools > Import/Export and follow the steps there to export the WordPress content and then do the same on the subdomain to import them.
- AJ
Thank you AJ. The theme panel export/import works for us. PS – in retrospect, I should have looked around a little before posting my request. The solution was pretty easy to find after all. Sorry
Hi,
On a Portfolio Grid, how can I leave the title of an image without background or shadow? I want it like this http://www.cavaa.net/ , not like mine http://test.carlessanchez.es/ .
Thank you so much.
Hi,
Simple add this custom CSS to your site:
body .portfolio-entry-details {
background: none;
border: 0;
padding: 10px 0 0 ;
}
http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/making-css-edits/
Result: https://cl.ly/lGsM
There are options you can use in the Portfolio module to tweak it like this – https://cl.ly/lGmm (short video guide) – but using CSS is quick and it will also target related items and archives.
- AJ
Thank you!!
The mobile navigation and font icons are not working on my site. Can you help me out/point me in the right direction? http://espanol.magicalgetaway.com/
How did you setup your child theme?
It looks like the site is not loading the main style.css from the parent theme but instead your child theme has a bunch of core CSS – http://espanol.magicalgetaway.com/wp-content/themes/Total-Child/style.css?ver=3.6.0 – but it’s missing a ton so various functions aren’t going to work.

Hi great theme, have 1 small issue i need support on. Changed all menus to a different colour, however can’t find how to change mobile responsive menu colour
Hi,
Depends on the mobile menu style you are using, can you share the URL so I can have a look?
Glad you like the theme!

Hi,

I know that you’ve recommended that we put all custom CSS in a child theme via ftp. I’ve done that. But I’ve kept the code in the custom CSS panel because I’ve made a lot of customization to one of my sites over the last few months.
After a recent update, all the code just displays on one row and a lot of the semicolons have been removed, and I’ve noticed that the custom padding on some of my blog post pages isn’t working anymore.
What can I do to fix this?
The page in question is at https://courageousconversation.com/the-adam-jones-racism-story-isnt-just-about-boston-its-about-america/
Hi,
- It really doesn’t matter if the CSS is in the child theme or Custom CSS panel in terms of optimization/speed. However, if you have a child theme it just makes more sense and keeps things cleaner in my opinion.
- Regarding the code in the Custom Panel this was a bug from a couple updates ago but it has been fixed please do double check to make sure you are all up to date – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/changelog/ – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs-category/updates/
However, it is only the “look” in the backend that changed not the actual code. So as long as you don’t save the custom CSS while it’s showing up as a single line then it’s fine. If you did save it, update the theme then you can copy/paste your code into a CSS beautifier and then add it back – http://www.cleancss.com/css-beautify/
- In terms of the padding I don’t know what it’s supposed to look like or looked like before so I’m can’t check anything. But it shouldn’t have broken, the issue with the Custom CSS in the backend is purely visual the code should still work the same (I added a function to minify the CSS on the front-end but it was being applied in the backend as well by accident) Can you let me know where the padding is supposed to be so I can inspect things accordingly?
Thanks!
Thanks. I’ll follow those instructions
If you run into any problems just let me know!
Hi, How to match the height of the title and price block, I tried to give that block a fixed height in css but the title is not centered vertically and it’s aligned to the top
https://www.dropbox.com/s/osdvlg6cdaa3qlm/product.PNG?dl=0Hi,
To vertical center the text with CSS just set a height and line height…example:
.element { height: 100px; line-height: 100px; }
However, it may be best to do this using javascript on site load that way you can calculate the height dynamically based on the tallest title.
- AJ
Actually setting a height and line height centers the text nicely if there were 1 line of text however if the title consisted of 2 lines the first line get centered and the second line went outside the container, and unfortunately i don’t know anything in Javascript so css is my only choice
Oh yes, if you have items with multiple lines then it won’t really work.
The javascript is fairly complex as well because you have to wrap the text inside a span and absolutely position it.
The only way to do it with CSS which will work well is to wrap the title into 2 elements like this: https://cl.ly/lGir
Then you can use CSS to turn the titles into a table:
.woocommerce-loop-product__title {
height: 100px;
background: #000;
position: relative;
width: 100%;
}
.woocommerce-loop-product__title div {
display: table;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
height: 100%;
width: 100%;
}
.woocommerce-loop-product__title span {
display: table-cell;
vertical-align: middle;
}
To edit the title is easy you would do this via a child theme – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/child-theme/ – in the functions.php file like this:
function woocommerce_template_loop_product_title() {
echo '<h2 class="woocommerce-loop-product__title"><div><span>' . get_the_title() . '</span></div></h2>';
}
- AJ
Thanks so much, it worked perfectly and you just gave me now a perfect reason to update my support license 4 days before expiry
Great, I’m glad that works for you!

RAW HTML <- can the content of this be included in site search anyhow?
Hi,
Sorry, I’m not 100% sure what you mean. Are you trying to add custom code to your search results page?
- AJ
The content of the ‘raw html’ is not included in the site search, for example ‘raw html’ = ‘apples pears’ will not be found in a search for apples or pears.
Oh I see what you mean. The issue is with the RAW html module the Visual Composer encodes it on the backend for security reasons so it’s not standard text (very important and can’t do without it). If you need text to be available for search results you would want to use a text block.
If you want to share an example page where you have a raw HTML block maybe I can help suggest a better method of accomplishing the same thing.
- AJ
Hi is it possible to add only amazon articles? (amazon partnernet). and if a user want to checkout, he will redirect directly to amazon store?
Hi,
This theme includes integration for the WooCommerce plugin which is the “shop” you see on the demos. This plugin does support affiliate products – https://woocommerce.com/videos/woocommerce-external-affiliate-product-overview/
If you need a more complex integration, there are many other free & premium addon plugins though for WooCommerce and you can try searching for “Amazon Products WooCommerce” to see if there is anything better then the default affiliate product type.

Hi,
Is there any way i can make the background image clickable?
I am using the boxed layout and have a background image but was wondering if its possible to make it clickable for say a promotion im running or something like that?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Scott
Hi Scott,
Backgrounds aren’t technically “elements” so they can’t be clicked on. The only way to add a clickable area around the boxed site is to insert a link element to the page via a hook – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/action-hooks/ – And then apply some CSS to position the element absolutely on the site behind your content and to stretch 100% wide and 100% height.
Example:
// PHP for adding the link to the site
add_action( 'wp_footer', function() {
echo '<a href="YOUR_LINK" target="_blank" class="clickable-background"></a>';
} );
This should go in a child theme functions.php file – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/child-theme/
/* CSS for positioning it */
.clickable-background {
display: block;
background: url( 'YOUR_BACKGROUND_IMAGE_URL' );
position: fixed;
top: 0;
left: 0;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
z-index: 1;
}
.boxed-main-layout #wrap {
z-index: 2;
position: relative;
}
Adding custom css – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/making-css-edits/
- AJ
ahh i see but thats perfect and makes sense thank you so much for your help i really appreciate it.
Of course, no problem
Hey guys this works lovely, is there away that we could make it responsive? so that it scales with the page size ?
You could set the background-size property to “cover” which will make the image always display in full. But there really isn’t any such thing as a “responsive” background. You could modify the code to not use a background but add the image via the img tag instead.
