Hi there! Pre-sale question here. I noticed that the social connect badges do not contain some social channels like: reddit, steam etc. How do we add those in there. Also, is there a way to add the social icons to the sticky bar so that they are in the users view at all times?

The social icons widget is implemented to the top bar and in the footer and you can enable it from Theme Panel > Header – http://forum.tagdiv.com/top-bar-templates/ There are many social networks that you can use, including reddit or steam(just add your full url and the icon will appear) – http://screencast.com/t/fR19oP4N – http://screencast.com/t/IIMBQuS84N If you want to display social icon in different area you will need custom modifications as there is no widget to add from backend to a page or sidebar.

Is there a way to make top bar sticky as well? Also, can you please confirm that it is possible to place any 3rd party widget anywhere on the page in full width?

The theme has an option to make only the main menu sticky and the sidebar using smart sidebar feature. Unfortunately for top bar you will need custom modifications to make it sticky. The page content was designed to handle shortcodes, so it should display any plugin’s shortcodes. There are some plugins that allows only widgets so a solution for this is to create a custom sidebar from Widgets and use Widgetised Sidebar element to your page and set to display that custom sidebar – http://screencast.com/t/jerM1jj44QO

Right so this means that plugins that do not have shortcode functionality can be displayed in the sidebar and not in full-width yes?

Yes, the theme sues wp’s sidebars functionality so if the plugin provides a widget placement method trough wp’s widgets it can be placed in the sidebar but not at full width as theme’s grid is not designed to support full width widgets only if you could benefit of VC’s full width functionality however I can’t give you any guarantees on that.

1. Theme’s sharing buttons can’t be placed on modules using theme’s settings, you would have to use a customization like this: http://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/can-i-edit-block3/
2. The theme has smart sidebar feature, that allows you to make a sidebar sticky and you can check the functionality also on our demo – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/ and you can read more about this on this guide – http://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/ There is not an option to make only an element or widget sticky and if you need a feature like this you will need custom modifications or you can try to find a plugin.

At this moment i don’t have separate page for homepage like mywebsite.com/home, the theme i am using right now provides simple layout for homepage. I can’t understand how its possible to install your theme, and use one of your demos on my homepage without loosing google rankings and page Authority as i don’t have separate page for home. please help me

If I understand you right, you would not need a ‘mywebsite.com/home’ for your homepage you just need to setup the theme, built you homepage and set it like this: http://forum.tagdiv.com/homepage-how-to-build-and-set-it/

i understand what you have suggested, but i am afraid that if i create new page and then make it as a static front page i will loose PA on my homepage. The theme i am using right now says that front page displays – my latest posts, and for image sliders and menus i am changing the header construction, there is no specific page which is used for homepage. in case if i create one page and then make it as front page will i loos my links and PA ?
Hi,
The Newspaper theme can also be set to use the latest posts page as a landing page however when using it like that you wont be able to use the Visual Composer’s page builder to configure/build it. You woudl have to customize it, trough its template file, to add post sliders or grids. I’m not sure, but I don’t think this it will not be necessary because I do not think it will affect your PA, we haven’t had any similar reports and I’m not aware of this so a ‘latest posts’ landing page can be created by using a static page and in this case you can use theme’s ‘latest articles’ page template on which you can also use the VC page builder and add other blocks/sliders/grids: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/homepage-loop/

Hello TagDiv I am having issues with Social Counter, Facebook is not counting, whenever anyone click on it, it redirect to the fb page but no count, then the number of likes on the page is not the same with the one on the counter, it stopped counting since 7days ago. Twitter is also fluctuating in counting, what could cause this? Waiting for your response.

Please update to the latest version of the theme 6.6.3 and update also the Social Counter plugin to the latest version provided with the theme. To make sure you are using the latest version after you update the theme follow these steps: deactivate and delete the current Social Counter plugin from your site – http://screencast.com/t/4f9ZPR9sNl6Y and install it from here – http://screencast.com/t/ioeIReUJ4

Please follow this guide to update the theme, there are 3 methods – http://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ Also first it is recommended to make a full backup of your current install(wordpress and database). The wp/theme settings should not be affected, but if you have custom modifications to the theme files(code) you will have to re-add them as all the files will be overwritten.

1. Unfortunately tagDiv social counter for Facebook doesn’t work for us. The plugin doesn’t count just Facebook, because Twitter and Google Plus works great. onClick it redirects to our Facebook page, but nothing counts. Could you please verify if the plugin works now? 2. It seems you have the same problem, because on your newspaper’s live preview on themeforest although you inserted account id for all your social media pages, it doesn’t count for Facebook and it shows “0”. 3. On your installation tutorial (http://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-social-counter-tutorial-2/) it shows plugin has to ask us for Facebook App id and Security Key, but it doesn’t ask. Or, have you updated the plugin these days and we didn’t get it?

1. I guess you are referring to the megamenu subcategories – http://screencast.com/t/iDaG7BBm unfortunately this is how it was designed for Newspaper theme and you will need custom modifications and I suggest to get someone to help you with this as we are not available for custom services.
2. You can add a border or other customizations to the ajax options via custom css, for example – http://screencast.com/t/GisOYfl9hQ
3. There is an option in Theme Panel > Post Settings to change the number of related articles – http://screencast.com/t/VFp8Lr1mZy You will need custom modifications to change the module that displays articles as it is a specific one created for this.

How do you put video views counter for the Video version of Newspaper? Is there such a plugin you would recommend?

Theme’s views counter refers to posts not videos. For videos the theme doesn’t have a counter. You could use a plugin for this however I’m not sure that there is one that could help you. We haven’t tested any plugins in this scope so, unfortunately, I can’t recommend you one. Sorry!

Yes, you can use it on various test domains or sub-domains however theme’s license allows you to use it just on one final end (customized/configured) product, you can find more info about envato’s licenses policies here: http://themeforest.net/licenses/standard – http://themeforest.net/licenses/faq
3. I’m not sure what you mean on this however you can take a peak at our demo site and see if it would suit your site and let us know if you need any additional info on this!

Unfortunately, the theme doesn’t have any options for this and it doesn’t handle fb shared info. You would need to search for a plugin in this scope. We recommend using Yoast’s SEO plugin to handle socials og meta however I’m not aware of any settings or options which woudl help you set this using the free version of Yoast’s plugin.
