I submitted a support request a few days ago, but no reply yet. Are you still taking support requests for this theme?
Hi there, sorry for the delay. I try to support request as fast as I can, but it can take 24-48 hours to get back. Sometimes longer depending on the request. I answered your email
Hello!
I have a client who want to have his podcast. I was looking at your demo and I have a few questions:
- Which of the two plugins in the description is the demo using? >> Can it have a “download” option? ( he wants users ro be able to download)
- what would be the best/recommended place to host the podcast? His own host, soundcloud, etc?
- I can change al colors of the theme, correct?
Thank you for your help!
- CD
Hey there, thanks for showing interest in Podcaster, I’ll get right to the questions:
- The demo has no plugins active, and yes you can use the player options that come with the supported plugins. Blubrry PowerPress allows downloads. You can also always add a link in the post to allow download of episodes.
- I wish I could give a good recommendation on where to host files, but I don’t think that I’m the right person to ask. Just know that if you want to use the native audio players, make sure wherever you host your files, you have access to your raw audio file (ending in *.mp3 etc…) Otherwise you’ll have to use embedded players, which are supported but not with the players shown in the demo.
-You can activate the light/dark templates and then select accent colors.
I hope this answers your questions, if you have any others, let me know.
Hello!
Thank you for the reply.
If I use Blubrry player, will they players will look/work the same as the demo?
Thank you!
Hi there,
Yes, as long as you link to the file directly and don’t use embedded players, they will look like the demo.
Hello! I’ve been searching for a while and I can’t change the backgrould color of a video post (Video URL – Upload/Self-Hosted). As youi can see it’s currently dark grey (http://historietassinetiqueta.com/archivos/221) Thanks!
Hey there, an update is on the way, the filter should be fixed after you update to version 1.6.4. That should fix the issue.
Hi, Could you please let me know how I have to proceed to update install the update?
Hey there, you can manually re-upload the theme files or set up Envato Market. Find out how here: http://themestation.co/documentation/podcaster/#updates . After setting up Envato Market you’ll be able to update your theme automatically from the “Updates” section on your dashboard.
Great theme ! I have 2 feature requests though : 1) How can I integrate the speaker list in a podcast page ? (I’m using Seriously Simple Podcasting) – 2) How can I have the same template as a blog page for a single podcast page ? (grey background and white divisions for content and widget). Thank you
Hi there, happy to hear you like the theme. A few questions:1. What exactly do you mean by “speaker list” could you post a link or example? 2. It can be done, but would take a bit of CSS customization. This is not covered by support but I can give you some pointers on how to go about it if you like.
Hi ! I’ve managed to change the CSS to apply the blog design to the single page design
My request about speakers was to integrate the plugin “Serious Simple Speakers” in the podcast page to see them.
Hi there, I wasn’t able to find this plugin/feature. Could you send me a link to what you mean. Sorry about that and thanks!
Hi ! Seriously Simple Speakers is an add-on of the plugin Seriously Simple Podcasting. It allows you to add speakers or guests to your podcasts : https://wordpress.org/plugins/seriously-simple-speakers/
Thanks for the link! I’ll look into it.
Hello, How can I reduce the height of the header image (Header background) so it doesn’t fill the complete homepage? Thanks!
Also, How can I remove from the footer the “From the blog” section which appears now after installing the template: http://historietassinetiqueta.com/ Thanks again!
Hi there, you can change the size of your video embeds, by going to Theme Options > Front Page Header > Embeds. Under “Embed Widths” select a smaller size and the header will shrink along with the video.
You can hide the “Front the blog” section by going to Theme Options > Front Page. Under “Blog Excerpts Section” select “Hide”. I hope this answers all your questions.
Hey all! I love this template so much. I’m hung up on only one thing it seems. Is there a way to integrate sponsors on the front page? This template is installed at http://www.geekpriests.com/. I appreciate any advice!
Hi there, happy to hear you like the theme. As for the sponsors, you could add them to the footer area. To edit that, go to Theme Options > Footer > Footer Text. I hope this helps.
Hey I purchased the theme and I like it BUT I need a little help in setting it up.
1. I need to make it so that when posting through PowerPress its loads on the front screen and adds into the Library page 2. I want to know how to change the front page. The problem here is that there is no editing plugin like visual composer. I want to add a small about us section and make it so that only the most recent podcast appears on the homepage 3. I also was wondering how to make it so that the podcast player can be accessed without clicking on the podcast. Like having the ability to play the podcast from the homepage.
I am liking this template and I think you all will be able to answer these questions
Also, the image on the front page of my site is a LOT smaller than the image on the front page of the demo. Heres the link http://theenlightenedlife.net/
Hey there, happy to hear you like the theme. I’ll get right to your questions: 1. Have you created a category for your podcasts and set it within the theme options? That way it will automatically post all posts in that category on the front page (and player) as well as the library. 2. If you want to add a small about me section, you could edit the footer section. You can do that within the theme options. Alternatively you could also dig into the code, unfortunately there is no other way of doing it as of now. 3. Were you thinking of something like a playlist or player on the front page? Something similar in on the works in the form of a plugin, but it’s still a long way. 4. As for the image, make sure you crop it properly, right now it’s only showing the top most part which is the cloudy section. I’d say set up the podcast first with the player and then crop the image to the right height, depending on how much space the title, player, schedule, etc… ends up taking up. I hope that makes sense.
I hope this answered all your questions
Thanks for getting back to me! Okay, were getting closer
All I need is for the player to be able to play FROM the homepage. I want to have the player on the preview. If you look on my site, you will see that I tried to embed the audio on the “LOOK HERE” post but it pops up as the URL to the media instead of the player. How can I make it so that the player appears there instead of the URL? If you can make that happen then expect a stunning 5 star review from me
That section is only meant to display text based excerpts, which is why its displaying a URL instead of the actual players. There is a way of doing this but not without digging into the code a little bit. If your comfortable with that please send me and email to support@themestation.net and I’ll get back to you with some pointers.
Just sent you an email
Still awaiting the response to my email…
Hi there, sorry for the wait. I’m trying to see if this can be rolled into the upcoming update as an additional feature, so all you’ll have to do is change a setting within the theme options.
The same thing that happened to baskettcase happened to me. This was the error we received:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_plugin_data() in /homepages/22/d576746140/htdocs/clickandbuilds/Humanature5370/wp-content/plugins/thst-feed/admin/options-init.php on line 29
I also haven’t updated our WordPress theme to 4.7 because back in August when I updated to 4.6, because the Podcaster theme wasn’t compatible, it also broke the website. Before I updated WP, I need to be sure that this theme is up to date.
Hi there, sorry about that and thanks for the update. This is being looked into right now, I’ll get back to you once there is an update.
Is there an update on this? Wordpress just released 4.7.3 and I will not update until I know that the theme and website won’t crash as it has twice after I updated WP.
Hey there, sorry about the issues you’ve run into with previous updates. What version of Podcaster and Theme Station Podcasting Feed are you currently running? If you are running Podcaster version 1.6.5 and Podcasting Feed version 1.4.1 you shouldn’t run into any issues.
Hey guys, was wondering if this PODCASTER theme IS compatible with Visual Composer?
Hi there, unfortunately Podcaster is not compatible with Visual Composer. Sorry about that.
So it looks like this new plugin thst-feed breaks the website. I put the old version back into place. Any ideas?
Hey there, sorry to hear about that. Could you tell me what error you’re getting exactly or what happens when you update. And what version of thst-feed you’re currently using that works? Thanks for the feedback!
Ok I enabled errors and this is the message we get: Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_plugin_data() in /webpath/wp-content/plugins/thst-feed/admin/options-init.php on line 29
and the version that works is 1.2 and 1.4 does not work.
Thanks for the further information, this is being looked into right now. I’ll get back once I have new information.
Hey there, could you make me a dummy account so I can look into what exactly is happening on your end? Please use support@themestation.net as the email. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
It’s a university network so Im not sure how that would work. I could do a bit of troubleshooting and get back to you.
Ok I tracked it to options-init.php Line 29 $plugin_data = get_plugin_data($plugin_path, $markup = true, $translate = true );
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_plugin_data() in /var/www/website/html/wp-content/plugins/thst-feed/admin/options-init.php on line 28
Ok I added if ( is_admin() ) { $plugin_data = get_plugin_data($plugin_path, $markup = true, $translate = true ); } since get_plugin_data is only defined when you’re in the admin.. my site comes back up, but Im not sure if that’s a viable solution.
Ok yeah not a solution.. so looks like there are some problems that need to be fixed..
Yeah, that is exactly why I wanted to take a closer look at when exactly the error is popping up on your end. In that case, could you please send me a screenshot with the page(s) displaying the error? Just need to know if it’s backend or frontend and where exactly it’s appearing. Sorry about this.
The error I sent you is what you would see on the screenshot:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_plugin_data() in /var/www/homefolder/html/wp-content/plugins/thst-feed/admin/options-init.php on line 28
I get this error when I am logged out on the homepage and on the login page. And then when Im logged in it’s the same error I get on the dashboard and the feed admin page. So no matter what page.. that’s the error I get, whether Im logged in or not. It takes down the entire website.
Thanks for your replies and sorry for the inconvenience. Update is on it’s way.
Excellent thanks! Do you have a place to download the new plugin so that we do not have to wait for it while a new update to the theme occurs?
Hi there, you should be able to download it here: http://themestation.co/plugins/thst-feed.zip
Hi Google search console reports some missing hcard/hentry tags in the theme – can you advise if you are fixing this or how to fix this please? Specifically: Missing: author Missing: updated
Hey there, looking into this, thanks for the heads up!
Ok, looked into it. This isn’t a bug, but rather a feature that Podcaster doesn’t have, yet. I’m thinking about including microformats in a future update because this seems pretty useful. For now I’d recommend this article: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/fixing-hcard-author-error/ as a guide on how to add what you need. I hope this helps for now.
Just purchased this, and F-Secure antivirus found 2 instances of a malware trojan in it! Trojan.Script.656296 (virus)
In: ReduxCore\inc\fields\button_set\field_button_set.min.js
Hey there, thanks for the heads up! That seems to be coming from the third party plugin (not developed by me, distributed by the WordPress plugin depository). Never seen or heard of anything like this before.
For now, you could open a bug request on the developer’s Github page directly so they can look into it: https://github.com/reduxframework/redux-framework/issues They’re usually quick with responses.
Thanks for the info. They mentioned that the version you’ve incorporated was copyright 2014, which might be why. I found a post on their forums about malware detections but that was back a couple of years ago and they rectified. it.
If you updated to the current version of the framework that will probably fix it.
Thanks for the info, update is on the way!
Having an issue with my search button not working properly. Right now it’s linking to a # page.
URL is NewAgeNomadPodcast.com
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Just a heads up that this is being looked into!
Hey there, sorry for the late reply. Just took a look at your site and it seems like none of your javascript files are being loaded. Do you know why this could be? Are you perhaps using a plugin to manage scripts? Just let me know, I’d be happy to help. But I can let you know this is the reason the search link isn’t working.
I personally haven’t done anything to purposefully stop those files from being loaded BUT I’m assuming it could be a plugin that I have currently interfering. Would that be your thought as well?
Hey there, yes. A caching plugin could do this. I recommend turning off plugins one by one and checking which one might be doing it. If possible please let me know so I can look into it on my end as well.
Hi there! I’ve just discovered that my RSS feed isn’t working for some reason… I can’t figure out what the problem is as it all seems to be aligned in the settings of the site. Can you please advise?
Hi there, sorry to hear about that- May I ask what plugins you’re using to create your RSS feed?
Hi there!
I have not activated or installed any plugins specifically for RSS feed.
Perhaps that’s the issue?? I had not idea that was even a thing!
Hi there, I responded to your email, hope you received it!
How do I reduce the size of the Featured Header slider? I’ve removed the Next Time On.. and also the Subscribe buttons as I’m using the theme for a podcast network site, so have multiple podcasts. Anyway, I removed those two sections from the Featured Header slider and there’s a heap of empty space at the bottom now. How do I reduce that empty space? Can I add some code somewhere?
Thanks, love the theme!
Question 2: I have duplication in the posts in the Featured Header slider and the post list below it, on the homepage. The first post is not duplicated, but everything from the second onward are. The setting is Newest in the header.
Fixed my first question myself!
Hi there, I’ll get right to the second question then. If you choose the Newest setting, that is exactly what will be displayed in the slideshow. If you wish to display selected posts only (and avoid duplicates) you can choose featured instead and mark the posts to display. The posts below will always display the newest posts though. I hope this answers your question.
Ok thanks! Thirdly, can I remove the Featured Header on Single Pages? Or on all pages using the Full Width template? I’m keen to create pages that use the logo and navigation, and then below that are just big empty full width pages I can design using HTML.
You should be able to use custom CSS to hide the headers. Let me know if you need pointers.
Hi. So I have version 1.6 of the theme that I just installed. I have a static page front page set, and I have the front page set for the front page. I have Header Content set to Featured, and it is showing the test content “Episode 5:” on the homepage now. So, all of that seems to be working.
But, I do not see the Featured Post box in the specific posts. If I go to edit the post, there is no option to turn that on or off. In the documentation, it shows what the featured post box looks like, but I can not find it anywhere.
So, how do you turn on the featured post box in the posts section? Or where do I access it so that I can define which posts I want to appear in the featured section on the front page?
Answered your email
To follow up on jbreezy’s comment above that says, “For some reason it says ”comments have been closed” under all my blog posts” and on my podcast posts. I have the same issue and would like to “activate comments” on my site.
Under wpSettings > Discussion I have selected to enable “Allow people to post comments on new articles”
Hi, you can activate your comments in the theme options. Please go to Theme Options > Comment Section and select “On”. This should open up the comment section again.
Thank you. I don’t know what happened. But, I already had the Comments Section radio in Theme Options > Blog turned on before, and now it’s working. Good to know that’s where I can turn comments on.
Hi,
I found a question in an old comment about the possibility to remove the tags from the front page, and the answer was 1) to change a line of code and 2) that you would try to add this option to the regular theme options. It doesn’t seem that 2) is possible though? (comment > 1 y). Could you please explain 1) a bit more in detail – I am not skilled enough to try something without further explanation
Thanks in advance!
Hi there, just so I know, do you mean the front page template or the blog page? I’ll be happy to take a look at what you mean if you send me a screenshot showing what you would like to hide. You can send it to: support@themestation.net
I would like to know if the Podcaster theme has capability of viewing/editing the RSS feed that Wordpress reads. I need to know if my Libsyn rss feed is being read. I published my most recent episode within Libsyn (not the Wordpress/Libsyn plugin) and it added to my RSS feed. But, my website does not show the latest episode.
Hi there, could you tell me what your exact LibSyn set up is? Are you using the “Destination” feature to post to you WordPress website? Also, which podcasting-related plugins are you using on you? That way I’ll be able to answer your question better. Just a heads up, in general Podcaster doesn’t interfer with the RSS feeds, that is plugin territory. If you send me your URL I’d be happy to take a quick look.
Another thing, as for your podcasting feed, I strongly advise you use the Libsyn feed, not the WordPress one. Since you’re uploading your audio file to Libsyn and merely embedding it on your WordPress site. Your WordPress feed will not have the audio enclosure, your Libsyn feed will however.
Thanks for your replies.
I use the Libsyn plugin to post episodes. From the wordpress dashboard, I click on Posts > Add New. And, from there I can customize the content.
My goal is to use the Libsyn feed. But, as I understand wordpress sites use the wordpress feeds by default. My URL is http://www.makingamissionary.org/episodes/home/ . The RSS feed I prefer to use (and is read by iTunes etc) is http://makingamissionary.libsyn.com/rss .
For some reason when trying to post the episode from within wordpress it only posted to my website, but not any podcast platform (because it didnt go to my Libsyn feed). So, my workaround was to keep the episode in wordpress and posted a copy of it from Libsyn directly. Episode 3 is now on both my website and within my Libsyn RSS feed. But, to make edit’s I’ll have to go to both locations separately.
Hi there, just a heads up that this is being looked into. Currently working to add full support for this plugin as well.
Hi, Ihave uploaded a banner image and it shows up on the blog area but i cannot get it to show up on the rest of the site. I am trying to get the site to look just like the classic view but it’s just not working. I get a color banner with the title, no banner image. I do have the banner image in the blog, though.
Hi there, Unfortunately, Podcaster does not support a site-wide header image. Why not set the same header image for your blog, as well as individual pages/posts and the front page?
That’s Just it. I’ve tried uploading a banner image to the home page and it is not showing up
Hey there, could you send me a URL to your website (or relevant screenshots if it is local). That way I can take a better look at what is happening and answer your question better. You can also send it to support@themestation.net if you like.
email sent yesterday, thank you
Hi thanks for your email. When you uploaded the banner, did you use the featured image feature? That should do it for pages. For your blog page (if you set one in the WordPress settings) you can set that one in the theme options.under Theme Options > Blog > Blog Header. If that doesn’t work, please create a dummy account for me, I’d be happy to log in and check the settings myself. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I found the place to select to use the featured image, but cannot find how to select that image. I can make you an account, i just need an email
i added the email for support@themestation.net
