Our policy related to 3rd party plugins is that unless they are integrated into the theme in some way (Revolution Slider, Gravity Forms, etc) then we are unable to provide support or guarantee compatibility for them. The implementation, customization, and troubleshooting of any issues that may arise would be the responsibility of each customer. Technically speaking, since X was developed according to development best practices, any well developed 3rd party plugin should play nicely with X, however due to the virtually limitless nature of things that can and often times do go wrong with software, we can’t support something that we have not first developed or integrated into the theme.

Thank you very much for good explanation. I know the two mentioned plugins are well coded premium plugins. So I would not expect any issues. But with that said, i am no coder, just a Wordpress user so can I at least count on some sort of troubleshooting if there should be an issue, so we can rule out the issue is from the theme?? This depends on your specific setup and which extensions you utilize. An average size for a WordPress setup is around 10MB.

Let me put it more clearly: what is the size of the theme directory uncompressed ? Just the theme unzipped.

5MB zipped. 12MB unzipped. Some of those resources are conditional though (from an actual site usage standpoint) so that’s not a fully helpful number without context.

You can disable comments globally by following these steps:

Go to Settings. Next, click on the Discussion tab and uncheck the allow comments section.

If you want to allow comments on posts but not on pages then we recommend using one of the many free disable comments plugins which let you define which post types you want to block or allow.

Thanks for reaching out. WordPress pages don’t support tags or categories by default, and X doesn’t add that functionality as pages are meant to be static. However, X does add styling for Custom Post Types. It sounds like what you may need is a Custom Post Type that allows you to create a form of pages with tags and categories enabled. You can register CPTs in a custom plugin or child theme, or you could use one of many free plugins to register it.

Hello, many thanks, just checked them out. I noticed the stacks. Do you have to use the stacks or can you create pages from scratch.

Can the shop be customised? ie add categories etc?

X includes 4 stacks (Integrity, Renew, Icon, Ethos) and you need to choose one when setting up your site. A stack will provide baseline styling for your site, but you’re still free to create fully customized pages. You can create as many categories as you like for the shop.

Awesome. Just went through the extensive pack of extensions and I can only say wow!!! I have great hosting with super speed , cloud fare etc I wonder will all these nice features slow down the site??

Generally speaking, these tools are well developed however there are certainly ways to use have aspects of them run un-optimized. This is not so much the fault of the tool as much as it is how a user may use that tool. For example, if you created slides with huge, un-optimized images in Revolution Slider this may slow down your site but would not be the fault of Revolution Slider rather the images not being as optimized as possible.

Thanks for writing in. X and Cornerstone work great on any server that can run WordPress. We don’t have any special memory considerations. It’s not at all resource intensive. We’ve optimized Cornerstone so the front end of your site loads as quickly as possible for users. When working in the backend, more resources will be used, as the changes you make need to be visually previewed, requiring communication with the server. This is still a pretty fast process, but we have noticed it slow down some on underpowered shared hosting environments.

Thanks for reaching out, and for considering X. As for video support, X doesn’t add additional support to show videos as the product thumbnail, nor is it part of WooCommerce. You would need to explore using a plugin to add this feature.

I’m not sure what you mean by Catalog mode, but there is a way in the WooCommerce settings to make the site a product gallery without allowing users to checkout. There are also ways to send the users to an external store with affiliate links.

Out the box the theme doesn’t use a grid system like Bootstrap or Foundation, using Cornerstone as the page builder with a variety of page templates you can create any layout you want. To modify the header or footer there are a rage of built-in options, for modifications that aren’t covered by the provided options, you’d need to instead use a child theme and modify the file responsible for the header output.

WordPress only allows one page to be the “blog” but you can link to categories directly to give users direct access to those archives. You can also use Essential Grid or The Grid to create an arrangement of posts on a custom page. Both plugins are included for free with X as part of our Extensions.
