ps: I noticed your support license has expired, if at this time you can renew your support license I would really appreciate it. You can also purchase a new copy of the theme for another site/client and it will also renew your support. A support renewal is around $41 so if instead you purchase a new license of the theme you essentially will get a new license for only $17 to use on another site and a support renewal. If financially you can’t at this time I understand but would really appreciate it since I spend a lot of time and money supporting and updating the product – thank you!

1. WordPress sanitizes links, so if you add a shortcode into a link you need to switch to the text side to remove the added http:// – https://cl.ly/nHG5

2. The breadcrumbs Settings in the Customizer are for the default breadcrumbs only. They will not affect the VC breadcrumbs module.

It appears to still be set. Above you mentioned you changed it under “Archives & Entries” but that is for the cateogories/tags. To change it for the post make sure to change the layout under Customize > Blog > Single.

2. Yes, the images are included. The only exception is for the Base demo a couple of the images on the slider homepage are changed due to licensing. 3. Any slider that is on a live demo will be imported with the demo. However, inside Slider Revolution they do offer premium sliders for download which you can only access with their exclusive license. But a lot of them and other awesome slider templates can be found here – https://revolution.themepunch.com/free-slider-exchange/ – where you can find pretty much a template for any slider you may want.

Thanks this really helps. So in the inspiration site they actually use the same CSS for the responsive videos I use in Total but a different padding (proportion). If you add this custom CSS to your site:

    padding-bottom: 41.667%;
}

It will render with the same proportions as their site. However, their video is filmed differently so it won’t be exact.

Are you building a single page design? If so, you could leave the main menu location empty. And then insert a menu on the page using the Visual Composer “Navbar” module so that the menu is on the page where you want it.

Are you referring specifically to the layout/design (the exact menu, sidebar, widgets…etc) of the site or simply the aspect of adding the products?

For adding the products you could use WooCommerce and disable the cart aspect and instead add the “inquire” function. This wouldn’t be very hard.

However, WooCommerce can be a bulky plugin for something so simple you may want to just use a custom post type with a dynamic template design:

This way you can set things up exactly how you want the products to display without the need of an e-commerce plugin.

The only issue is in your screenshot you have the image at the exact same height as your testimonial content, this is going to be pretty much impossible to do, unless the staff member image is changed completely to work as a background image positioned absolutely and set to cover size (but can cause issues with parts of the image getting cut off).

Hopefully this CSS helps get you on the right track at least!

JetPack social share is fine and shouldn’t slow down your site. But I wouldn’t recommend installing JetPack ONLY for social sharing. If you are using the plugin only for that then it may be too much. I only recommend JetPack if you are using other features from the plugin as well.

You can actually use 3rd party services to auto share your content – http://www.wpexplorer.com/automate-social-share-wordpress/ – this way the stress isn’t but on your own server.

But if you are serious about social media auto sharing your posts is spammy. If you want to build a loyal social following you should be doing at least most of your social media posts manually.

Thank you for the tips. It is nice to share a good word press article on social media, google plus and linked in. I understand from your reply that it is better to write specific content for the social posts as face book, twitter, instagram and not one post for all socia media and share it with all. It does make sense as the info becomes more personal. Is this why you recommend such ?

When you custom write your own social posts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram…etc) you can write better descriptions and include better hashtags. Using services that auto share your posts whenever you click publish aren’t so easily customizable. Also if you are publishing only 1 article a day then sharing manually only takes a little bit of time. If you are publishing a lot of articles a day and auto sharing them, then it looks spammy.

Of course it all depends on your website and niche

I looked at your instructions about creating a page called footer builder etc buy I don’t understand how that page become the footer on my once page site. Sorry for this newbie confusion. • The way the Footer builder works is via the Visual Composer. So can create a new page or template (better) and set it as the footer then use the Visual Composer to insert rows, columns and any module you want for the footer.

Right now you can’t “preview” the footer like in this little video, but hopefully it gives you a better idea of how it works.

• That said, if you are creating a 1 page website, you can just disable the footer if you want (no need to use the builder) and just insert whatever you want at the bottom of the 1 page with the VC page builder just like all the other content of the site.

Using Azure in of itself shouldn’t cause any issues as long as the server has good resources and allocations (memory/cpu – memory limit, upload limit, post max size).

Any demo should take under a minute to import on a good server – https://github.com/wpexplorer/total-sample-data/blob/master/estimated-import-times.txt (estimated times taken using my live server) – and maybe a few minutes on a slower server.

Definitely no need to leave anything running overnight!

It sounds like the server may actually becoming unresponsive right away (if you open the browser console during import you can see if there are any errors). These issues typically happen if the server needs an increase in memory limit, if there are security functions blocking the import or if you need to increase your post max size.

This theme doesn’t have any built-in page builder. It includes the Visual Composer plugin but it’s 100% optional. Some customers choose to use Elementor or Beaver Builder with the theme.

I don’t recommend using inbuilt builders.

Oh yes you can already do this with the Total theme. Either using the Visual Composer video background options for the row. Or using the Slider Revolution plugin. For Slider Revolution, you just insert a video as a layer. You can insert the video as a background but it’s better to add it as a layer. No need to purchase the slider you can already create video backgrounds.

Sorry I thought you meant a video background on the entire website (like if you were using the boxed site layout there would be a video around the site contentent).

Updates are free for as long as the theme exists

The way bundled plugins work on ThemeForest is that the updates for the plugins are provided with the theme. So whenever the theme is updated usually there will be a notice to update the included plugins as well. More info here: https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/bundled-product-license/

It’s actually better this way because I do a full check of the plugins when they update to help prevent any bugs before updating them inside the theme.

Also support is provided for the theme and the bundled plugins.

Updates are usually at least 1x a month (sometimes 2) I don’t like to update too often (some people update every week) because it can be a hassle. Of course if there is a crucial security update I will push out an update immediately.

I think making the header sticky immediately is probably the correct call. When you rotate the device, it’s expected for things to appear or disappear, so switching to a sticky header at that time makes sense. It would be more jarring if the header became sticky after the first scroll on a rotation if the page was scrolled down (obviously it wouldn’t matter if the page was already at the top).

I think I was able to fix this by destroying all sticky elements on orientationchange and then re-sticking them immediately if allowed. I still need to do a bit more testing but it should be fixed in the upcoming update.

That’s sorted the links AJ, thanks – but I can now only left-align the headings – the addition of that CSS prevents centre and right alignment of the headings?

But actually if you are doing a heading with an icon then the “List Item” module may work perfectly for you. It puts the link only around the text and it supports an icon and it can be centered.
