Hi, I used and use again this theme for my site. I’ve 2 question for you:
1) I need an Ads system now. I won’t install another plugin, when you insert an ads system same to “Newspaper” theme?
2) When you update your theme? The builder have many problem with WP 4.9. I don’t change many pages (the builder not work) and the buttons for “edit” not showing in many widget of builder. This is problem was born when i updated WP.

When i try to disable Images Fade In (On Scroll) in admin, it does not work. It loads pictures a bit too slowly on slow computers and that’s why i would like to disable the Image fade in

Something might be conflicting here as it should load fast even on old laptops from 2012. But if you really just want to disable it, please try this method (requires forum login).

It usually just means that your webhost has a file upload limit. Try to ask them to increase the file size upload limit to 20MB at least or use the FTP method explained in docs. For further support, please create a topic at our Support Forums.

Is there any know plugin conflict with WP Bakery or other plugins? SmartMag page editor is acting buggy. E.g. not loading text editor (for text block). It shows the box (small) but without the content I added prior. Rich Text Editor Block works but buggy too – e.g., if I highlight a title and change to h3, everything changes to H3
I just installed the latest version of SmartMag and Child Theme… child theme does not work – site looks like text only page fro the mid 90’s
New update removed all my footer links too – I was always impressed by this theme but as of late, not so much. Changed the section headers on homepage too – to a ugly font that I am not familiar with and no bar. Not pleased and have reverted back to ver 2.6.2
And now I have an extra hour of work to fix what the update removed.

The first issue is due to an issue that came with WordPress 4.8.x which had a fix in a newer version of SmartMag. We’d recommend always updating it using the guide here – the most important part being backups (for any WP theme, anything can go wrong during a theme update and WordPress can easily lose widgets if it gets interrupted).
As for the theme update issues, updating the child theme may have caused the issue or a switch from parent to child theme (widgets areas are registered by WordPress for a particular theme name so if you go from child to parent or vice versa, widgets can get lost).

Is there a snippet of code or css to prevent cropping of post featured images so the images are shown as full height and scaled to the width of the column containing the image.
I need featured images to show the whole image on posts (not thumbs on homepage etc – just on the actual posts.
Ideally I would like to only show these full height featured images on post for a specific category – is that possible to do?

Hi again. 2 pre-sale questions 1. what is the drag and drop builder that the theme incorporates -is it the visual composer? does it work with any type of content, pages and posts? 2. 1. It’s a custom page builder and it works on pages by default.
2. Your webhost should have its own process for moving from “staging to production” that you could use. Otherwise you can use a plugin like “Duplicator” to handle it for any WordPress install regardless of theme.

Thank you or your answer. Regarding the second question – I use WP Clone plugin to clone my website to another subdomain which is not indexed by SERPs on which I do tests and then use the same plugin to move the config to my live domain? So can I proceed like that?
We don’t have experience with WP Clone but if it works same way as Duplicator, it should work just fine. Basically any popular migration/duplication plugin will work here as the theme doesn’t have any special requirements – it works just like any other standard WordPress migration. Some webhosts provide their own “staging” system too which makes things even easier – so if that’s available at your webhost, that should be easier.

If I enable comments “Discussion” and check “Allow comments” it doesn`t display the comments section under the page. I tried the same thing on other websites with different themes and everything worked well. Could it be that the problem is in the theme`s code?
And by page, I mean page, not the post.

Ok, maybe is because the web is using your Versión: 2.3 What happens if I deactivate the theme, delete the version 2.3, upload the last and activate the theme again? Would it be the proper way to update the theme? thanks in advance

Is your theme’s container width flexible, or limited to 1070px?

The theme is responsive so width does change based on device. But on desktops, it’s 1078px and can’t be changed to maintain best look.

I have quite a lot of sites running different themes on my server. Earlier today, the only site running SmartMag gives me a blank screen. Has there been a Wordpress update that may have caused this? or a plugin conflict maybe? I personally have not updated that site for a while, but sometimes Wordpress does automatically update itself sometimes. I now find the site has the white screen of death for no apparent reason.
- UPDATE ** I disabled all plugins one-by-one. I found that the problem was with the Revolution Slider plugin. This plugin is no longer compatible with this theme it seems. Never mind, it was just a slideshow I had on the About Us page anyway.
Strange thing now though… the social media icons in the top-left of the site are no longer horizontally in line with each other, they are lined up vertically now. I have not changed anything else on the site since they last displayed correctly. Is anyone else getting this issue?

The Revolution Slider plugin issue might be related to PHP7 as it can cause issues under that sometimes. As for Social Media icons, since WP 4.8.x, text widget behavior has changed. You will have to change the Text widget in top header area to “Custom HTML” widget. If you still need further assistance, please register and create a topic at our Support Forums.

I did a while ago upgrade PHP to 7.1 on my server. However, Revolution Slider works fine on other sites with different themes using it. There is some conflict specifically with my site running SmartMag only. It’s not an urgent thing, but the conflict seems to be with the theme or one of the plugins that ship with the theme. I can live without it on this particular site, but if its a bug, I would personally investigate it further if I were you.
I do get the message…
“This theme recommends the following plugin: Revolution Slider (Optional).”
I would prefer to see it working than not to be honest. It works on all other sites on the server.

SmartMag doesn’t support multiple sidebars. But we can note it down in feature requests and consider it for future. Can you clarify if you’re looking for an option like this for all site (including article/single posts) or only for home-page and category listings? Any example sites?
