Hello. I want to report a bug or rather a bad logic in dynamic comparison feature with using Multicategory compare.
In the Theme settings page -> Dynamic comparison -> Assign categories to pages I add to categories like this:
771;Washing machines;7251;reviews
802;Fridges;7253;reviews
“Reviews” is my custom taxonomy.
Dynamic comparison works well. But bad think is, that when I add some post to comparison using compare button, in vertical compare bar (id=”re-compare-bar-tabs”) I see list of all my comparison category group even these to which I didn’t add any post so they display (0)
Right now I have only two testing category group. But in the future I will have tens such category groups.
I think it will be much better, when category group will be visible on vertical compare bar only when we add some posts into them. It means when such category group has 0 post, it will not be visible on vertical compare bar.
When I look at it as website visitor, I don’t care how many comparison category group website have. I don’t want to see list of all such category group on vertical compare bar which have (0) posts. I only want to see these category group to which I add some posts for compare.
What do you think about it?
I think that it’s wrong way, we made this dynamic comparison after checking most top comparison sites and they show all groups. see example https://www.smartprix.com/
Yes I agree that It can works on pages like https://www.smartprix.com/ where are only few comparison category groups.
But on page where is for example 30 or 50 or even more comparison category groups it is weird and with regard to accessibility it is wrong that website visitor have to see list of 49 comparison category groups which display (0) and they are empty and only one from 50 contains some products which visitor really can see.
More over on mobiles where is compare bar narrower, website visitor will have to scroll through all these empty comparison category groups to reach one that interests him and contains some posts.
I managed to hide these empty comparison category groups which display (0) using CSS like this:
#re-compare-bar-tabs ul li:not([data-comparing]) {display: none;}
But in this case it works well only when empty comparison category groups are the second and all others (according to order in which they are listed into field “Assign categories to pages” in Theme settings).
When I delete posts from the first comparison category group and refresh page, posts are visible only after I click on some category group, because of javascript click event.
making 30 categories are very bug mistake. Site will be very slow, because theme must check all 30 groups on each page load. avoid this
Ok. Do I understand right that it is not possible to build a good bigger website with your theme? Is your theme only for small niche website with very small number of comparison category groups?
You say that with 30 comparison category groups website will be very slow. But to be honest I am building website which will have about 200 comparison category groups (and probably even more) – (of course, this is work for at least 2-3 years).
I mean 200 different type of product that need to have their own comparison page builded with Top charts constructor.
Is it possible to change or optimized your code for dynamic comparison, so it will not slow down website so much with very high number of comparison category groups?
Would it help if comparison category group was added into compare bar only when we add some posts into them, like I suggested in my previous comment?
If you are really not interested in my suggestion, how much would it cost to do such customization?

it’s not theme related question. You can use 30 comparison groups, but wordpress can’t handle so much requests in one time. You must have PRO server. Also, even sites with millions of products, don’t use so many comparison groups

I am convinced that yes. Because right now, as you wrote before, site must check all category comparison groups on each page load. Even if they are empty and don’t contain any post or product.
When I look into the source code I see all links to comparison pages. But if these links were added into the source code only after adding the product to some comparison category (after clicking on “compare button”), site would not have to handle so much requests in one time on each page load.
Am I right?
As experienced programmer you should acknowledge that, in terms of performance, the dynamic comparison feature with using Multicategory compare is not well-thought out because of add all comparison groups into the code at once, even if they don’t contain any post or product.
So I ask you once again.

2. How much would it cost to do such customization? Because with dynamic comparison feature like it is right now in Rehub theme, it is absolutelly unusable for me.

how do you want to check if group is empty or not without request? Of course, you can’t.
Of course, it’s possible to make some custom work with special logic which will exist only on your site and will be preconfigured but we don’t take such long term customizations, sorry. You can try to find plugin for this or hire freelancers to make separate comparison function which will work and look as you want

Why is it that when you login using social login it does not login you in completely. It just goes to homepage without seeing the avatar of respective social network like facebook or twitter for example. It supposed to log you in completely and see yourself logged in. Why is that? Is is because of WP cache?
Do you see a new user in Users backend section as admin? Some social plugins only simulate authorization.
